Christianity Etc › Re: Not Attending Church Every Sunday. Is It Such A Big Sin? by joseph1832(m): 9:26am On Nov 15, 2020 |
cfree14: So today(Sunday) I decided to stay at home because of yesterday's wedding I attended. Not that I don't go to church but I came back home yesterday feeling very tired, even till this morning. A neighbour saw me this morning and was like "Bros, you no go church today?" I tried to make him understand why but he kept on telling me how it's wrong not to go to church and stuff.
So the question on my mind today is, why do people tag others who "miss" Sunday service as sinners? it's because they're mentally slow and they're like Jon Snow: they know nothing. I've not set foot inside a church for almost 15 years and here I am. Believe me bro it's not a big deal. |

Octopusssy: I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Like seriously, how can you keep bringing kids into this world when you can't even take care of yourself? The world is a tough place for able bodied people, how much less a disabled person? Do we now blame ignorance and poverty for this kind of irresponsibility?
Yes, we are all sympathetic to Ayuba and his excruciatingly hopeless circumstances, but let us also lay some of the blame on his table. I won't even bother to read the opening post but this Ayuba's situation is something I've seen/witnessed one time too many. You won't be surprise if you engage him (Ayuba), in conversation you'll see he gave birth to those kids in the hope that the kids, might grow up and save him from his wretched state. The mindset of many Nigerians seriously need to be change as soon as possible. Don't even be surprise this same Ayuba will see someone like me, who's not married, don't have kids and is doing Far better than him, he'll now believe he's better than me and even insult me just because he gave birth to kids he can't even take care of, talkless of taking care of himself. |

Out of boredom recently, i decided to try it again after being continually assured that I won't regret my decision. So far, it is going good, especially from 45 and above.
I wonder why it took that long though! You'll enjoy it. I guarantee it. |

Politics › Re: Kano Hisbah Destroys Bottles Of Beer Worth N200 Million by joseph1832(m): 8:45am On Nov 09, 2020 |
naptu2: It still goes back to what I said.
1) Nigeria is a Federal Republic (just like the United States).
2) The fact that it is a federation means that states can make their own laws (that's why there are state houses of assembly).
This is also true in the United States and in every federation. The constituent parts can make their own laws.
3) Every state in southern Nigeria has its own criminal code. Northern states (or the Northern Region) also had its own criminal code in the early 1960s.
4) Sharia law has existed in Nigeria since before independence and the British considered it to be part of Nigerian customary/native law.
5) However, the British removed the criminal aspects of customary law. This means that customary law is limited to things like marriage and divorce, inheritance, etc, but does not include things like murder, robbery, etc.
This is the reason that trial of murder suspects by torture no longer exists in the south.
6) In the 1960s some northerners complained that Sharia law was being divided into criminal law and personal law and that this is not possible because Sharia Law is one. Ahmadu Bello listened to their complaints and enacted a penal code in Northern Nigeria.
Because of this, most states in Northern Nigeria have a penal code and most states in the south have a criminal code.
7) In the early 2000s, some states in Northern Nigeria passed new laws that included Sharia criminal law. Some people say this is unconstitutional, because what is in the constitution is personal law. However, this has never been tested in the courts.
8 ) The governments of the northern states say that the destruction of bottles of alcoholic beverages is done because of the penal code laws in their state and not because of Sharia law.
9) Note that states have the right to make laws, so long as the law does not contradict the constitution. Anybody that feels agrieved can sue the state government to get the law declared unconstitutional.
For example, Lagos State Government had a state traffic law that permitted LASTMA to impound cars and fine people. Someone's car was impounded and the person sued the government. The court declared the section of the law that gave LASTMA the power to impound cars and fine people null because it was unconstitutional. It violated people's right to fair hearing because it made LASTMA both the complainant and the judge
10) So the northern states say they have the right to ban alcohol, but anybody whose alcoholic beverage was confiscated and who believes that his constitutional rights have been violated can sue the state government. thanks for this. I guess the reason why these northern states continue to do this nonsense is because Nigeria Breweries or International Breweries haven't sued them. |

360degreess: .. You are wrong. They are trying to follow their scriptures. Alcohol is also prohibited in your scripture, it's just that you are too ignorant to know. See : proverb 20:1, 1corintians 5:11, 1corintians 6:10, ephesians 5:18 etc.. You prefer to follow(worship) your pastors, Bishops, Rev., etc.. The Christians only follow Jesus by lips not by deeds. No wonder the Qur'an described the Christians as ignorants when it comes to "spiritual" matters. did it ever occur to you that not everybody is either Christian or Muslim? I mean what nonsense. It should be within the right of every Nigerian to consume alcohol whether they want to, or not. Banning it just because of Sharia law is bad. I wonder why the breweries who own those bottles don't want to sue these people. |
Politics › Re: Kano Hisbah Destroys Bottles Of Beer Worth N200 Million by joseph1832(m): 7:51am On Nov 09, 2020 |
Naptu2 this was part of what I was saying the other day. What right have the Kano state government have to destroy alcohol bottles and ban the consumption of alcohol, just because of Sharia law.
I mean it should be within the constitutional right of every Nigerian to decide whether they want to consume alcohol or not. |

naptu2: I don't think he attended. It seems like they reduced the number of traditional leaders that attended in order to meet Covid-19 restrictions. It seems that, apart from the two senior leaders (the Sultan of Sokoto and Ooni of Ife), they selected leaders to represent geo-political zones. I saw Admiral Diette Spiff at the meeting, so he probably represented the South-South zone. Alright thanks for the reply. |
