freeze001: No sir, the hike in cost of food, fuel and electricity alone without any attendant benefits accruable to the Nigerian citizens will definitely make them sadder now than in the recent past, your favourite timeline of 2010-2015 Its not today food, fuel and electricity spiked, is it? And is it today the nigerian masses experienced fuel, food and power scarcity? wordychap: BTW 2010 -2015, Nigeria attained d status of - fastest growing economy in Africa and - 3rd fastest growing economy in d world Nigerians weren't sad about that.
2016, Nigeria is not even among d 15 fastest growing economy in d Africa That calls for being sad! Really? Paper propaganda is what I call all this. Tell me, with all this fastest growing economy in Africa bla bla bla, did the living condition of the average nigerian improve? |

MarieSucre: That is true. I'm not fighting with you on that. But I AM SAYING here saying "this law is wrong", "the law opens room for it's abuse", "this law doesn't look good on Nigeria as a society". Maybe at the next constitutional amendment, we shall bring it forth to the notice of the appropriate authorities for it to be expunged. Have there ever been any instance when the law isn't abused? Whether the law looks good or not, what is obtainable is, the law doesn't stop you and I from doing whatever we want to do. That's just it. YOU ARE SAYING here "women already work at night" (even though the law will most likely be abused). " The law is usually used to oppress the weak and meek!"
I am saying Progressive. Constructive. Utilitarian. Solution-Oriented My friend what pls what are you saying? And you think here, Nairaland is the best place where you can proffer this progressive, constructive, utilitarian solution? That sought best to undo what was done in 1999? Hmm.. |

MarieSucre: And I told you just like in the case of prostitutes who also work at night, that law can be abused to their detriment. Why leave it there, giving room for it to be used and abused?
Since it's useless, why leave it in the constitution to take unnecessary space?
Most importantly, why are you fighting tooth and nail for it not to be removed? If it is removed what does it add or remove from your life? OMG! I'm starting to think you really do lack in comprehension issues... Who is fighting for what to be removed? This is Nigeria woman, and the law is usually used to oppress the weak and meek! MarieSucre: Go and ask those girls their ordeal at the hands of policemen. Its not enough to just pass them. Go and hear their stories. Policemen will come with big hilux and pack all the girls there. Force them all into cramped cells. The police men will then tell the girls that if they want their freedom they must have sex with them... for free. After having sex with them through out the night. Most times without protection they will not still release them. In the morning, they will tell the women that if they want to be free, they must pay their bail. They'll collect all the money in the girls(including the one made that night) as bail money. Then they'll set them free anywhere, be it miles from where they picked them up, till the next time they want to raid a prostitute hangout. And all the unlucky captured prostitutes are to go through that process again.
And the prostitutes. They can't meet the policemen to save them. It's the policemen that is abusing them. They can't report the policemen to higher authority, they're the ones in the illegal profession Just the same way a homosexual cannot go to the police to report he has been beaten for being homosexual. They will arrest him.
www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-21329269
Here is 200 year old law that says women in Paris can't wear trouser in public. Of course that law hasn't be practiced since about 1909 downwards. Women have been wearing bum shorts and bikini in Paris for almost 80 years. But the truth is that if a policeman decided to arrest a woman for wearing trouser, he is well within his rights, that's why they had to officially abolish it.
The long and short is that as long this law exists, it will be abused. Why risk that happening? Lets officially purge it from our constitution to prevent Stories That Touch. Here is not Paris, this is Nigeria. I'm sure you know every job has its own hazard? No job is all lovey dovey. The crux of the matter is that women also work at night, despite the fact that the constitution say they shouldn't. Hence my position, the Nigerian constitution doesn't stop anyone from doing whatever that person wants to do, plain and simple. Stop bringing up stories woman. Gosh!!!! |

MarieSucre: You said the law is not even enforced at all. So I'm saying whyre you fighting against us? You should be fighting with us to officially purge the laws from the constituition. Since the law doesn't stop you from doing whatever you want to do, why do you want to purge it, or fight against it? To me that's insane. Prostitution is very illegal in Nigeria, I passed by Allen Avenue today, and I was wowed with what I saw, different girls, with different shapes and sizes, all for those who can afford it. So hope you get my drift, after all, the girls are working, and the constitution say women shouldn't work at night. Mtscheeew |

5minsmadness: How else do you correct people if you don't judge them? What's all this 'I don't judge, nobody should judge'? How else will we as individuals provide a moral compass for what is right and acceptable if we don't judge, condemn and put to shame those that are and do wrong?
Silence means consent.
Evil thrives when good people do/say nothing! There's a fine line between correcting people who err and judging them. When you judge, you already pass a verdict, and you do so without letting the person know how/why he or she is wrong. When you correct, you do so, with an open mind, letting the person know there are better ways of doing whatever he or she did, that warrant others to pass judgment. |

uzolexis: you are missing the whole point of this conversation , i am not into APC vs PDP argument, I agree with you that GEJ needed to go but i dont agree that Buhari was the best option we had. The point I am getting at is that some valid points were raised here which the present adminstration should look into. No doubt, but I'll still question the sincerity of the persona making the valid point(s), if it is someone who wasn't part of the last administration, no doubt, by all means, let's hear it, not someone like Reno. Cos like I said, why didn't he make valid points to Jonathan when he was special adviser to him, how come he now foun his voice to make valid points? |

uzolexis: I have never voted in any elections in Nigeria not cos i don't want to but cos the only time I was eligible to before i left the country, i registered in school(which was in a different state from where i live) and was at home during the elections so it was not possible. If we are being realistic, i'll have you know that APC cannot give us the change we desire. I really hope they surprise me and prove me wrong cos me (like most pple) want a better Nigeria but I just don't see it happening under this Govt. In as much as you don't see it happening under this government, let's know that the first thing any sane mind thinks of, is security. If you're not secure, can you even think of earning a living, that's the number one reason why I voted against Jonathan. As realistic as we have to be, let us embrace our reality and know that this polity call Nigeria, will run by corrupt individuals who will stop at nothing to get what they want. So, even if APC can't give us the Nigeria of our dreams, at least its better than scurrying for our lives when Boko Haram comes knocking. |

uzolexis: at the bolded, so if someone does not support APC or PDP that person did not vote where they the only parties that contested for the presidential seat in the last election this is exactly why I am so mad at Nigerians, we are so easily swayed, we had other credible candidates but because those candidates didn't have money to throw around on campaign and the likes nobody bothered to check them out, we didn't do our research so as to make informed decision. It baffles me when I see APC and PDP supporters bashing each other cos there is no difference btw both parties. If we wanted real change like we have been making noise about we would vote neither APC nor PDP cos they can't give us that. All the money spent on campaign do you think APC will not recover it somehow?? where else will they get it from if not the nation's treasury. FYI, i don't live in Nigeria so I was not around to vote but I campaigned vigorously for Remi Sonaiya the KOWA party candidate cos she is way better than Buhari and GEJ combined, so I have very right to criticise this govt. if they are not working as expected cos I am a Nigerian and you really should stop making statements based on feelings, get actual facts 1st before you jump into conclusion. I don't know why Reno didn't tell Jonathan the truth and honestly i don't care, I am speaking on my own behalf as a Nigerian and to me he raised some valid points which I think this administration should take seriously. Let's leave all this story aside, and answer me this, have you ever voted in any election in Nigeria? Second, I expect you to know the country you live in, because it sEems you don't. Yemi Sonaiya whom you rigorously campaigned for, have as much chance of winning the presidential election, as I have as much chance of becoming the richest man in Africa. This is why I say nigerians should be realist, instead of idealist. Since 1999, I voted Gani Fawehinmi, but it dawned on me when he passed away that he can't win. That's just the plain truth. That's why I told myself, that I will vote for whoever have the ability to oust PDP out of Aso Rock. This is reality speaking, not ideology. And, I'll have you know that should PMB prove that he isn't any better, then still I'll vote against him. Plain and simple. |

Are you telling me artisans comprise the majority of the nigerian population? If you prefer food on your table than to care about people looting money meant for our common goal, I don't. Such mentality like what you preached above is why people like Fayose give people 2 cups of rice, just to get their votes. And I find it shameful that one can reason like this. 2 is the same challenge this present administration is facing in NDA Yes, that's why we need to give it time, miracles, don't happen everyday. 1 can still better than people been retrenched from there job...I'm not defending any administration but i think things were better last term and the vision is there for everyone to see....Now i dont know the direction of this administration...except for the anti corruption war...but why fight a war when the citizenry are suffering...for me its misplaced. uzolexis: no matter how you look at it Reno made valid points. I never supported Jonathan, i was a big critic of Jonathan and I never supported buhari during the elections as well so I'm neither APC nor PDP as both are the same to me but I can't talk about Jonathan now cos he is no longer our president and has little or no power to turn things around presently. The person in charge now is Buhari and that's who our eyes are on. this is a very constructive critique of Buhari's leadership and if I were you, I would not care whether or not he told jonathan the truth as that is a non-issue now. Yes, I don't expect miracles but I need to know that this govt. actually has a good and clear economic plan for us and from what I see they don't. they are just working with trial and error, no direction, 1 person says one thing today, another says a different thing tomorrow....... Reno made valid points my ass! Why didn't he make valid points when he was under the care of Jonathan, that's my question. Him coming here to speak and make valid points only attest to his lopsided way of contributing. Its just like Oritsejafor coming to say there are fake pastors in Nigeria. My dear, for the fact that you supported/support no one gives you no right whatsoever to throw stones at this present administration. From what you said, I believe you didn't even vote. There's no sitting on the fence this time around, those who sit on the fence and don't vote have no right whatsoever to start criticizing anybody. You're busy criticizing a man for not doing what he's suppose to do, and you yourself, refuse to do what you're suppose to do, doesn't that sound like double standard to you? From 1999 till date, there have never been an election I didn't vote! I voted PMB because Jonathan just had to leave Aso Rock, should in case PMB prove he's no better than Jonathan, then, I'll vote someone else, its that simple. No sitting on the fence, neither Reno nor you have any right to throw stones at PMB, when you guys refuse to do what you're suppose to do. |

Anas09: Yea Joe, we all have different inclinations. But the claim that they were neglected by their parents hence; their sexual orientation, is so warped to say the least? This crap is gradually creeping into our society. Very soon, we will begin to hear that a man, a Nigerian became a serial killer because his parents didn't kiss him when he was a boy. This is serious. What about kids whose parents died even before they grew up to know anything? Parenting involves many things, and our environment also influence us. What a child sees, hears and perceive goes a long way to affect the child's psyche. I'm sure you know of kids who witnessed their parents fighting, how they're prone to violence and easy fit of rage. That's how homosexuality is. A child who grew up, watching Nicki Minaj shaking her booty, is inclined to become sexually aroused by Nicki Minaj's fine curves... Thus, that child will want to explore and seek our females. This is a more believable story. A far more older lady (Prostitute who slept with men for money, but with girls for 'what?') disvirgined a small girl. She kept the little girl under her wraps for a long time, she provided all she needed, made her enjoy sex(if that's what it's called) with her, thought her things about themselves. When she eventually grew up, she didn't know any other thing other than what this lady and her did. She saw her fellow girls following boys as silly.
She started craving for other little girls. She had never been with a man, then she got preached to, she then saw that what or who she was was wrong, unfortunately for her, a female pastor (supposed) in the church she started attending, cornered her again and brought her back. As at when I knew this, she was as confused as hell. She wanted to stop, but the devil was waiting for her at every turn. But to say, my parents were not there, so I started craving for a fellow girl with breast. Where will I even start? Put my mouth in her mouth. Ekwensu Have you ever had a discuss with gays and lesbians, I tell you, the reasons why they become who they became to be, stem from what you spoke about above, and parental neglect, even the story as posited by you, reeks of parental neglect. I've come across some lesbians, and gays, what they told me about their childhood still bother on influence, and lack of proper parenting. |
