oh, so you admit the slap could have been over a trivial issue? for me I don't care what made her slap, kids of that age are also known to abuse the little power given to them.
Its not just kids who abuse power, adults too do that very well. Its a standard human behavior.

Didn't read all your posts, but I just wanted you to acknowledge the teachers and head girl being just as wrong as the girl in question. Now can two wrongs make a right?? I even find more stomach churning the guys saying military this and and that.
Well people are naturally opined to their opinions, depending on how they see things.

But I still want to know what made the head girl slap that girl. For she to have reacted that way means something must have spurred her to give in to her emotions. I will not be surprise if both of them are fighting over a boy anyway. Lol.

Oga caution is different from barbarism. I haven't seen anyone who said she deserves a handshake for revolting against instituted authority, but it just doesn't warrant such mobbing by the teachers. Look around you and tell me who punitive discipline has helped. you don't have to be so rigid around your earlier assertions, be open to reason.
There's no rigidity here. The teachers, the head girl, the girl who was flogged are all wrong, plain and simple.

Discipline has helped me a lot, I speak for myself and myself alone. When a child err, who correct the child, and if the correction fails, you switch method.

I never for once opined that the teachers were correct, did I?

and hasn't the discipline made you a better person today?? Lawlessness starts from the grassroot!! She slap her senior todae, 2maro she slap her Oga for work, next 2maro she slap her parents
Then she'll end up slapping Buhari and many will forget that when she was returning slaps, as a child, nobody cautioned her, instead they sympathized with her. LOL.

The beatings I received as a child made me the person I am today. When I was little, my mum who was a teacher, never failed to instill discipline in all of us, while she instilled it, my dad, (who was a soldier) drilled it in us.

If my parents ever hear that I was around where a fight took place, even though I never took part in the fight, I get 2 strokes of the cane, because they will always ask "wetin you find go there".

So, as a child, I know where to go and where not to go, if I hear or see "two fighting" na speed I go take comot there. And even if someone punched me, I will never retaliate. I will go straight to the persons father and report, or I report to my parents. Its just that simple.

I've always maintained that parents of today have failed in training and teaching their kids on how to behave and act!. That's why you see many here shouting and raining fire and brimestone.

It's all hypothetical of course. My son will never attend a Nigerian school, and never be flogged by a Nigerian teacher. And I will never be forced to take matters into my own hands, and seek a bloody retribution.

But I hope you're naive enough to think that it couldn't happen to you. I know you're a teacher, and I genuinely hope that you go around beating children at your place of employment with impunity. I honestly hope that one day you beat the wrong child of the wrong parent. I just hope you don't ask him to 'quit talking tough' when he comes with his boys for his pound of flesh.

OP. taking pictures of her scarred buttocks and putting her name on social media does not help her recovery. please remove the pictures or her name. to think that you even had her face on originally. she is 14 not 4 yrs.

Joseph the dreamer.
You dont need to be there before you can apply reasoning that are thoughtful

Wake up from sleep and stop thinking like the senior prefect.

Thank God my responses and others who reacted to your irrational comments have made you to come to terms with our stands that what is condemnable should be condemned and that prefects are expected to provide leadership through their position and not be bullies.

May be you are missing the line and arguments of sane minds here

No one says the girl should not be Punished if found wanting : The main point are

What right/powers does the senior prefect have to slap his fellow students (2) Why cant the Senior prefect report the lady to the teachers if she felt she is so unruly rather to taking laws into her hand cos she is the senior prefect. (3) why cant the teachers and principal discipline both students since both have resulted into physical assault on each other (4) are there not other measures of punishment that could be mete on the ladies apart from inflicting marks on her body , is that the most corrective measures the teachers understood (5) Will you accept same if such treatment is mete to your child . What will be your reaction

Did you asked what happened in the first place before you concluded that your senior prefect was right to slap the girl and that the lady must have been rude when you are not there.

No matter the level of provocation, I still insist that the senior prefect does not have right to slap his fellow students in the guise of correction

welcome back home to the right school of thoughts .
As usual! Asslicking always seem to be what you're good at! Read my comment from page 1 and you'll know my stand.

Now I get why you aint thinking straight and to have JUSTIFY that a senior prefect could slap his fellow students.

What Right does any students or prefect have to dish out slaps to his student irrespective of slight provocations.
Its the same right the students have to return slaps and punishments. I don't for once expect you to understand what I said. Jankara sentaor. tongue

If prefects were chosen based on facts that they should be level headed and of fine character, how did the senior prefect slapped the lady first even if she was provoked.
That's why you should have asked what happened first, before jumping to conclusion. I suppose a 14 year old knows how to control her emotions right? Once again, ask what happened that warranted to head girl to slap the girl in the first place.

Indeed, your level of reasoning is amazing since you could not state why the so called senior prefect could slap her fellow student in the first place.
what moral justification does she have to dish out the slap first and why condemned the one that returned it .
The teachers and the principal should have discipline both and not been selective in their punishment.
Prefects are just first among equals and they aint super powers to act like emperor

I salute your reasoning

Mr vulgar grin
Yes indeed, your level of reasoning must be on par with that of a mad man since you expect me to answer the question in color red. As if I was there? Why do you think I've been saying the parents didn't bother to add what their daughter did, for the head girl to slap her in the first place, that part wasn't there. tongue

We condemn the girl who returned the slap because she acted in the ways of Hammurabi, (an eye for an eye) and that's something against the law, when harm or bad is done to you, you don't strike back with that same harm, you report to the appropriate authority. What that girl did was to take law into her hands.

Jankara senator, I believe you won't be able to comprehend all I've said. So please, before you reply, take time and think it through. tongue

The trouble and problem with an eye for an eye, Is that everybody ends up blind! That is what this case has resulted to! Everybody is guilty, the teachers, the head girl, and the girl that was flogged!.

But Authority can Physically attack you abi (Zombie and Moronic thinking I guess)

Who confer the Authority to the senior prefect and under which law is that written.

Prefects are first among equals since every one cant be prefects. They are to be role models and provide leadership to others.
For dishing out a slap first shows she is not qualify to be senior prefect . she has failed in character and examplinary life.
Prefects are supposed to be level headed no matter the provocations
And of course, you're clueless and silly in your remark. Your thinking is the one that is moronic here, not mine.

And yes, people like you, always fail to ask questions that's why they always arrive at irrelevant conclusion. A sane mind would have asked why the head girl slapped her in the first place!. What happened? What could have resulted in the exchange of slaps? But no! Your mind isn't sane at all. tongue

magicminister:
should a senior prefect slap or assault a fellow student?
when we see something that is wrong, we should condemn it.
Even if that girl stole or did someone inane, should she be physically abused in this manner??
If she was your daughter, would you tolerate a teacher leaving these horrendous marks on her body?? Would you say the same thing if your daughter or sister or mother was stripped and whipped like a slave??
I'll have you know if she was my daughter, she would never have returned that slap in the first place!. And I'll even ask her, what on earth could she have done or said that will warrant a head girl to slap her! If she was my daughter, this incident will not even have occurred! Parents should teach their kids proper conduct on how to approach issues.

This is the reason Nigeria may never move forward.
Our future generations are already taking classes on how to be power drunk.
A little child is abusing the little position of a prefect. What would happen if s/he joins the military or becomes a "leader"?
A prefect has no right to punish a student. The duty of a prefect is to report to the teachers what they see and hear.
The reason why Nigeria will not move forward will always be because Nigerians don't know how to act and behave in certain situations. We are always quick to action, and we always fail to even ask questions.

We should ask what that girl did that warrant the head girl to slap her in the first place. Its just that simple. We fail to notice both of them are females, and we know females are prone to emotions...

There is no justification for this nonsense and if this girl was my remotely related to me, i can grantee you that those teachers will pay full price.
If i don't get the teachers, i will have my guys get their children.
Which price? What will you do! If your daughter can raise her hand slap her senior prefect, then she can raise her hand and slap you her father, and it means you have failed as a parent!.

I don't know what the girl did because I was not there and I am not justifying whatever wrong she might have done but from the story, the head girl was the first to get physical by slapping another student which prompted the retaliation.

So my question remains, was it right for the head girl to have become physical? shouldn't she have reported whatever it was to the school authorities?
You should know, for whatever reason, be it wrong or right, you don't physically attack authority. That girl returning the slap to the head girl, meant she slapped the school's teachers.

And yes, it wasn't right for the head girl to slap her. But slapping the head girl back is wrong. She should have reported the head girl and let the teachers handle her.

ifeomaekol:
ok I kw dt girl must b vry stuborn or every rude n mayb teachers n prefects must hv bn complaining abt her too bt two wrongs dnt make a right, y nt suspend her?? Involve her parents n give them a stern warning that if she misbehaves again we expel her?? Wuldnt dt hv bn beta dn this?
Well that's where the teachers erred! They should not have flogged her like that. Its un called for!.

I would rather you conduct your investigations before you upload it.

Imagine what you're saying: "even if she killed someone". I believe you have no knowledge whatsoever as to the workings of proper conduct in organizations.

If your senior colleague slap you, are you suppose to return the slap, or write a petition against the person?

Well, I'll tell you she had every right to slap the girl, depending on the girl's offense. If the head girl had reported the girl, instead of slapping her, the teachers would still have acted this way, and people will still judge them, like they're doing now.

Respect for authority (figure) is what we clearly lack in this country. Such a girl would have been seeing the head girl as her equal, not knowing she's not her equal in anyway whatsoever!.
