PoliticsRe: What Is Lagos Doing With Its Subsidy Removal Fund? by joseph1832(m): 5:46am On Jan 03, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: No information yet? May be I should repeat the question. What has Fashola been doing with the lagos state share of the subsidy funds? Accountability is needed not only at the federal level, but also at the state and local govt level.
Mr sincere 9gerian so right you are!, accountability and good governance should be felt in all facet of government. But before I answer your question, answer me this; what has the FG been doing with the money gotten from the subsidy removal, the money generated from tax, the money gotten from sales of crude oil etc.

I've noticed how biased you are with Fashola and LASG! You focus your attention on trying to destroy the image of Fashola! Please answer me this last question, compare the regime of Fashola to that of GEJ when he was Governor of Bayelsa State and tell me who outperformed, outmarked, outtackled, and outdribbled who?.

INNO18: i took bulk of the pics on Xmass and New year which were Public Holidays. That's why most of the pics are deserted.
@poster I served in Sokoto! SSCOE to be precise and I know just how beautiful Sokoto is. I stayed at times with my Uncle in Ofa road at Old Airport!

NBA, custom mess, mammy market, blue star, etc are bars that we can use to compare any one in the south especially blue star.

Those who are saying gibberish about Sokoto obviously haven't visted the city! I love the place. Howvever the attitude of the muslims there is what I adhor.
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of The Seat Of The Caliphate(sokoto) by joseph1832(m): 6:59pm On Jan 02, 2013
INNO18: hello nairalanders, for long you all complained that besides Abuja no other city in the north is being show cased to people who have never been to the region. so i took my time to garner as much pictures as i could get of this small but serene city(Sokoto). it's a city i was born in and have lived in all my life(although my parents are from Anambra). so people relax and enjoy theses pictures.
@Poster why didn't you post pictures of kwannawa? Abi is Kwannawa not part of Sokoto?

Owing to the caliber of intellectual discourse going on in nairaland one would believe that the site should be streaming with millions of members, I took a cursory look at the number of members here and discovered that "WE" are just under 1million.

My heart fell at this discovery but it was lifted almost immediately, because I've come to notice that unlike other social media (facebook and twitter) where all sorts of perversion and moral degradation is sporadically on the increase, where all you need do to gain followers is to post a nude pic, where prostitutes now do business, where homosexual have found solace, where if you want a sugar daddy or mummy you can easily get one etc. Nairaland is so different.

We've heard various atrocity being committed on a daily basis via facebook (Cynthia Osokogu) but we haven't heard anything of such on Nairaland, infact Facebook and twitter already have a bad reputation across the world but nairaland seems to be growing in reputation because of the caliber of its members and the level of intellectuality displayed. This is something worthy of celebrating....

To all Nairalanders, (especially those in the politics section) this is me(joseph1832) saying Happy New Year to you all! May we all use this forum to impact in ourselves and change the abysmal state of this country.

Thank you and God bless you.

Ngwakwe: Seun, please can you remove Joseph1832 from Nairaland registered users.

His utterances are beginning to sound as if he is motivated by hate.

I will prefer you put Joseph off, let him view this his thread become constructive as a guest
Mr man I would advice you to put a sock in your own utterances... How dare you say "am motivated by hate" where were you when someone (caesar1988) openly insulted me, and my father?! Calling him an idol worshiper. Where were you when so many others here openly abused me?

You don't deem it fit for people like that to be removed from nairaland right? Rather you go about showing everyone how egocentric you are!

Well seeing that who stays on nairaland and who don't doesn't rest in your hands, I would prefer you take your stereotype opinion and shove it somewhere else okay!.
PoliticsRe: Should Oritsejafor Be Removed As CAN President?! by joseph1832(op): 11:21am On Dec 31, 2012
To those of you who have resorted to using insults to buttress your inane and mundane assertions I beg you to refrain from doing such.

I posted a thread to get the opinions of nairalanders if your assertions defer from mine please state it categorically! Most you resort to beer parlour radicalism? And display to the whole nairaland politic forum how myopic you are.

Please learn to argue constructively! That's the only way we can impact knowledge in ourselves.

Thank you all!.

Democracy? Please go and research about democracy and its tenets then com and tell me if Nigeria is a democratic country?
PoliticsRe: Should Oritsejafor Be Removed As CAN President?! by joseph1832(op): 8:34am On Dec 31, 2012
nerdivist: @joseph ode he doesn't intend to retain the post forever. He'll have to leave sooner or later.
Of course he'll not be CAN President for ever? Is it his birth right? My bone of contention is the office of CAN President has been highly Politicized by Oritsejafor. I won't be surprised that his successor will follow suit as we all know how Nigerians like imitating!.

nerdivist: and what happened to the name change? Did it work? No it didn't!!! Why? That's because this is not a millitary regime. He can't just finish a plate of weed spiced vegetable and make declarations. GEJ is not a law maker. The constitution would have to be adjusted
The status quo was retaineddbecause the students and lecturers of Unilag protested! If they haven't what do you think would've happened?
PoliticsRe: If FG Declares Citizenship Instead Of State Of Origin On D 1st Jan 13 by joseph1832(m): 7:15am On Dec 31, 2012
nerdivist: undecided my friend wake up jo. GEJ can't just wake up one morning and declare it effective. This is democracy not millitary rule. The constitution would have to be ammended.
Did GEJ not also woke up on Jan 1st 2012 and remove fuel subsidy? Did he not also woke up on May 29 2012 and changed the name of Unilag to Maulag! Maybe its you who needs to wake up.
@Poster one thing I've come to notice in Nigeria is that anything is possible, if this so happen atleast it will reduce the case of tribalism and ethnicity!

What is the function or job of the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria? (CAN) Well certainly its not be a sycophant

Judging by the way Ayo Oritsejafor, who is currently the president of CAN is using the office, one would say its a complete aberration.

He wines and dines with the corrupt, plays lip service to them, encourage them in their evil ways, turns the other eye when the people he's suppose to be protecting their interest are being harassed, doesn't blink an eye lid when hash conditions are sanctioned on the Nigerian masses, attends top government functions, and has endorse a government known to be very corrupt! In short there's no PDP function you don't find the clergyman. I often wonder if he's become a card carrying member of that party.

Is this what a man of God, the President of CAN is suppose to be doing? I think its time CAN clean out their closet.
PoliticsRe: Presidency Defends Anenihs Appointment by joseph1832(m): 2:54pm On Dec 29, 2012
Sincere 9gerian: May be you didn't hear about the popular story (though unconfirmed) that in 2003 OBJ had to practically kneel down to beg Atiku not to contest in the PDP primary election then so as to make him (OBJ) unopposed? The story had it that had Atiku contested for that primary election, he would have defeated OBJ. It was part of the reason OBJ fought back fiercely to oppose Atiku in 2007, when OBJ had completely taken over the PDP political machinery. Therefore in this game, one has to balance political influence with performance. Okonjo Iweala and the agric minister for instance cannot be of help to the president when it comes to PDP primary. It is the level of political influence the president wields among the governors and the likes of Aneni that will help. Except you'r a child, you should understand these things
Of course I understand these things! Am a political scientist GEJ is just playing politics. But as a matter of fact he's playing politics at the detriment of the people he swore to protect and serve, he's trying to secure and cover his own ass at the expense of the Nigerian populace.

What GEJ is doing Is what no well meaning leader will ever do. Obama, Mandela and co will never succumb to such low standards of thinking. GEJ is thinking about himself and he's future, what kind of well meaning leader does that? If he really means well he will certainly know that "election is not a do or die affair". Sincere 9gerian "a good name is better than riches" am sure you know that!.
PoliticsRe: Public Power Supply Continues To Improve by joseph1832(m): 11:25pm On Dec 28, 2012
ogb5: In my area the power went out once for 2 hours. That was six months ago. I called the power guys and it was a tripped circuit in my house that was the problem.

Before you start wondering where the hell is that, note its not in Nigeria.

Look on the list in the link below, it shows where Nigeria stand with respect to electricity consumption per capital.

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EG.USE.ELEC.KH.PC

Nigeria uses 136kwh per capital while common Zimbabwe uses 1022kwh per capital. compare Nigeria to little Netherlands with a population of 16million, they used 7010 kwa per person in 2010.

On electricity usage, Nigeria ranks with such countries as Myanmar (131 kwh/capital) and Sudan (141kwh/capital). Those are people we are competing with.

Globally the countries we are better than, as listed by the world bank, are:

Haiti (24 KWH)
myanmar (131 KWH)
Dem Rep. of Congo (95 KWH)
Ethiopia (54 KWH)
Eritrea (52 KWH)
Haiti (24 KWH)
Nepal (93 KWH)
tanzania (78KWH)

So before anyone collect chicken change from their stupid politician friends and come to NL to say Electricity is improving they should compared the amount of electricity available to Nigerians and that available to citizens of other nations.

a minimum of 10 fold increase in electricity generation will need to be provided before we see any real and lasting improvement.
Bros you are mouthed!

@everyone If you know that since GEJ became President of the Federeal Republic of Nigeria, PHCN or NEPA or TCN or whatever they call them these days have never taken your light please indicate or tell me where you live so I can move to your area.

Why should we settle for less when we can have the best! That's how the cloud our minds with minute performances and expect us to roll over and thank them for a job they are not doing well...
PoliticsRe: Presidency Defends Anenihs Appointment by joseph1832(m): 10:29pm On Dec 28, 2012
Sincere 9gerian: Mr President needs Aneni and some other politicians to win PDP primary come 2015. GEJ did the sensible thing that any other person would have done- find a balance between political influence and performance. You need POLITICAL INFLUENCE to win PDP primary and PERFORMANCE to win general elections. If GEJ didn't appoint Aneni into NPA board, na @DemDem, Gbawe, Lai Muhammed, Speaker Tambuwar or Buhari him for appoint? Those who allege Aneni stole money should take him to court. The ACN states and ACN members of the NASS can sue Aneni to court for failing to tarr any southwest roads that was budgeted for and funds released for its construction. Otherwise, the propagandist should allow us to hear word. Small time dem go also allege that I stole N1,000billion.
Na Sincere 9gerian talk dis one.
So according to you Anenih's appointment was based on the fact that he can help GEJ win PDP primaries come 2015?

GEJ didn't appoint him because he's the man for the job? Because he has outstanding integrity and credibility? Because he's a committed, dedicated and patriotic Nigerian?. Nope was appointed just so GEJ can win 2015 PDP primaries? Kai I tiya for this kind talk oh....

If you say GEJ appointed Anenih just cause of PDP primaries, do you now honestly think he GEJ or Anenih gives a damn about the common man?
PoliticsRe: Presidency Defends Anenihs Appointment by joseph1832(m): 5:42pm On Dec 28, 2012
Elueme: Why will this dude find anything good in the president when there's nothing good about him? The last time I checked charity began from home, so have a Self reevaluation to believe in yourself before believing anything else. For Okupe's speech, I concur to a large extent.
dDude in want to believe that in your area where you reside, you have uninterupted power supply, the roads around you are all tarred, you have constant water supply etc. if you really have all these, then i believe you for believing Doyin Okupe.
