PoliticsRe: Presidency Defends Anenihs Appointment by joseph1832(m): 5:39pm On Dec 28, 2012
It is obvious that people like Doyin Okupe can kill their mother just for a buck! imagine the narrow mindedness exhibited when defending Anenih's appointment! no facts, no figures just plain nonsense. "Mr Fix it for OBJ" when the FGN failed to give him funds what did he do? what did he do when he was Godfather to Lucky Igbenidion? what did he do what Edo state was looted and plundered beyond recognition? As far as am concerned the man lacks integrity and credibility!

In my area we've not had light for close to 48 hours now, nobody knows what's happening, all the NEPA abi na PHCN or TCN official refuse to say anything about it.

well am most impress that Asari Dokubo can put aside tribal sentiment and openly criticize his kinsman. This is a plus for him.

Prof Corruption: A Nigerian who bares his mind without fear and favor.
that's according to you right? it doesn't matter if he's spreading lies and deceit!
PoliticsRe: “christians Are Deadlier Than Boko Haram”, Sheikh Gumi by joseph1832(m): 5:17pm On Dec 27, 2012
This man is a fool! And idiot who has no moral scrupples...
PoliticsWho Tha Hell Is Sheik Gumi! by joseph1832(op): 5:11pm On Dec 27, 2012
About some minutes ago I read a post here on nairaland about sheik gumi's reply to Rev kukah's message delivered at Yokowa's funeral. I most say, who tha hell is this guy? Who does he think he is? And what in the world gave him the impetus to say the malicious things he said?

How many sticks of dynamite does he (Gumi) needs in his medula oblongata to make him compos mentis because I can see that he's a deranged cow! One who has allowed religious sentiment to become his modus operandi.

Once upon a time in Nigeria when they brought the miss world pageant to Nigeria some group of muslims went ahead and protested, killed, destroyed and maimed christians just cause they believe its "un islamic" for such an event to hold in Nigeria forgetting that Nigeria is not an Islamic state and when a journalist replied their atrocitous act "all hell broke loose". Need I mention the post election crises, the Boko Haram scorge, the dec 2011 xmas day bombing but to mention a few...

This is also a case of genocide against poor christians, now I also ask:
What was the reaction of the muslim Ummah?
What was your own reaction (Gumi)?
What was the reaction of the Sultan of Sokoto?
What was the reaction of the Northern Governors Forum?
What was the reaction of the Governors of the states where xtians were slaughtered?
What was the reaction late Yar'Adua?.

I've come to notice that when christians are killed nobody says or does anything, but when its muslims all sorts of sentiments litter the air!

I've heard from friends who served in Sokoto, Shehu Shagari College of Education, an institution that has been islamatize by some of the lecturers and the previous provost, there Christians and corpers are given the most abysmal of treatment (especially corpers) yet nobody is saying or making noise about it! And here you are puking nonsense out of that shit emitting hole you call a mouth!

My fellow Nigerians we most unite against agent of the devil like this sheik Gumi who go around spreading falsehood and petty sentiment all over the place, remember some time ago it was this same man who said "Northerners won the Nigerian civil war". Forgetting the fact that it was not only the northerners who fought the civil war!. Now he has come again to spread another malign sentiment.

Sheik Ahmad Gumi, God will deliver Nigeria from the likes of you!.

donroxy: Fact is quite different from Opinion.......Dayokonu is quite correct,u hear!!! Hmmm!!!

In Achebe's case, he has clouded Facts with his Opinion...... He is always a Fictional writer though and now He is among those elders who has toyed with the peaceful co-existence of Nigeria simply cuz he is frustrated.........!!!!!
I believe you did not read my post very well! "Achebe toyed with the peaceful co-existence of Nigeria"? Please...
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 3:20pm On Dec 27, 2012
dayokanu: What makes "Igbos are tribalistic" a fact? Find out the difference between Facts and opinions as a start.

Even though many people might agree that Nigeria is a bad country doesnt make it a Fact. its still an opinion
So according to you, what's FACT and what's OPINION? Cos the difinition you gave earlier defers from that of a dictionary!
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 6:49pm On Dec 26, 2012
dayokanu: "Igbo as the most tribalistic" is an opinion not a fact. You seem to have problems differentiating between Facts and opinion.

Facts are universally accepted true statements e.g Nigerian Flag is Green white green. Opinion is "Nigeria is a bad country"
Hmm still the same ask anybody from any tribe who are the most tribalistic in Nigeria and they will mention 'igbo'. So the fact that something is universally accepted does that make it right or correct?"
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 5:09pm On Dec 26, 2012
dayokanu: You can make a research but the conclusion you reach are still your opinions.

I can research and find that Ibos are much into business thats the FACT and where it stops, Several people can form several opinion from this FACT. One might call it greed, another might call it industry
And I can also make a personal research and say 'igbos' are the most tribalsitic tribe in nigeria that's also the fact and where in stops. However does that make my research right or make it a fact!? Some might call me a tribalist, some might call me a realist!
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 5:01pm On Dec 26, 2012
Josh090: Excuse me op, is the book a work of detailed research into history and events of the civil war?
Mind you, the controversial part of the book was clearly stated by Prof. Achebe himself as his "impression" which makes it less of a fact but opinion, which personally I find malicious and rightly angered by the senseless and unpatriotic way it is delivered.
Anyway, its all sentiments!
Your 1st question I can't answer because am yet to read the book. If Professor Achebe said its his "impression" fine! But what are impressions based on? Some are facts some are fiction.
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 8:23am On Dec 26, 2012
dayokanu: What Achebe wrote was not facts either it was his opinion and everyone too has a right to either agree or disagree and air their opinions

They dont need to write a book, they can air it anywhere.
A professor can't just publish a book without doing his research properly. Professor Achebe is a renown scholar recognized for his literary works! Why should he write a book about something without facts! Mind you when you don't just air your opinions anyhow! Have you ever heard of slander and libel?
PoliticsRe: Nairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 7:59am On Dec 26, 2012
dayokanu: Since you claim Achebe has a right to say what he said, Dont you think others too have a right to say what they choose regarding the issue?
Of couse they do! They said what they said devoid of fact and figures that's why I said they should write a critique of Achebe's book! Simple.

PoliticsNairalanders Should Put Aside Petty Sentiments... by joseph1832(op): 1:34pm On Dec 25, 2012
I've come to notice a very annoying and prevailing attitude amongst we Nairalanders, that's all affinity to attach tribal and religious sentiment in every facet of our discourse here.

Given the appalling state of the Nation, many of us Nairalanders still go ahead and encourage the very people who are responsible for putting us into this depraved state.

The recent appointment of Tony Anenih is proof of this where many of us supported his appointment despite his notoriety for corruption.

Here on Nairaland I was flabbergasted that the infamous "Politics hall of fame/shame thread brought so much rancour cause Professor Chinua Achebe was nominated into the hall of shame category. Where many, openly opposed it to the extent of them exchanging words with their fellow nairalanders....

Professor Achebe wrote a book based on his personal findings about the Nigerian Civil War! Simple, if anybody feels contrary to this, go and publish your own book or better still write a critique on professor Achebe's book.

Our country is laced with corrupt individuals who have sworn an oath to make the life of the Nigerian masses a living hell and many of us are bickering about whether Professor Achebe deserve the nomination or not! To the best of my knowledge Professor Achebe stands e pluribus unum to our present crop of politicians... His integrity and credibility can't be compared to those thieves in the FEC and the NASS.

Whether Professor Achebe deserved the nomination or not, that doesn't and will never change the fact the he's a great Nigerian, greater than many of our present crop of politicians and respected world wide more than them.
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Ghost Congress A Political Congress - EX Pastor Of (RCCG), Bankole Solomon by joseph1832(m): 10:25pm On Dec 24, 2012
aksat: Hey yaaa... people are angry with GEJ, pastor Adeboye and RCCG Alter. But you have forgotten your own life. On the judgement day, God will not judge based on the fact that your president is corrupt but you will stand alone to give account of your life. Even if GEJ is a thiev, are u better than him that tell "white lies", commit fornication and adultry and do all sort of things that r not pleasing unto God?
Before God sin is a sin. So why don't you leave GEJ and RCCG alone and think about your own life. Remember what Jesus told the people that wanted to stone the adultrous woman to death. Same is happening here. You think God has condemned our president? No. I still strongly believe that God with him and in due season what God is doing through him for nigeria will show.
Our president needs our prayer, that is why he came to the house of God. So let's continue to pray for him. Our critisism will not solve any problem.
Dude! What did God do to King Saul?
Christianity EtcRe: Holy Ghost Congress A Political Congress - EX Pastor Of (RCCG), Bankole Solomon by joseph1832(m): 7:03pm On Dec 24, 2012
k2039: I will love to know what your point is. Is it about GEJ addressing the gathering or siting next to the GO.

I would also love to know the church you attend.

Are you telling me that if GEJ visits he won't be given a sit in the front as a special guest and as the one in the helm of affair in which the church is situated. Also are you saying he won't be allowed to address the congregation.
I love the way you reason brother, and of course there's nothing wrong in GEJ addressing the congregation and there's nothing wrong in him attending the holy ghost congress.

But my bone of contention is Adeboye should have told him not to capitalize on the opportunity given him to campaign and further tell lies to Nigerians and also he Adeboye should have use this very medium to tell him about the lousy way he's been running the country and to drum it into his ears that "the wages of sin is death" not smother him the way he did....

For the records, I'm not a member of The Redeem Church, I'm furious at the way GEJ has handled the nation, Pastor Adeboye is not even one of my favorite, but honestly I see nothing wrong with GEJ sitting in the front pew and also addressing the congregation, He is the President of Nigeria.

Also about Jesus sermon on the mount, I can't find where he said honoring a President or King in church is a crime.
Also about James, looking at that verse critically, It's not really applicable. Honestly, GEJ is the president, even though he MIGHT be a looter and sinner, I still don't see anything wrong in Him sitting in front and addressing the congregation, though he tried to capitalise on the opportunity and made a small campaign(a typical politician), but the congregation will only demonstrate extreme stupidity by voting for him based on his presence and speech in their camp.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Insulted Nigerians By Appointing Anenih As NPA Chairman – CNPP by joseph1832(m): 6:43pm On Dec 24, 2012
PointB: Anenih, Buhari, Tinubu, Obj, IBB are a few example of the shenanigans the Nigeria system tolerate. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Hence, if we must condemn the Anenihs of this world, coup plotters like Buhari, and IBB should have been shot long ago not accorded seats and undue privileges at Council of State. Mega thieves like Obj should be cooling in jail, not junketing around the world in the name of 'envoy.' Tinubu, whose fraud is of both local and international proportion should be answering 'yes sir presido' to some scared-face inmate in Kirikiri maximum security, not allowed to steal Lagos State fund and install his stooge all over the place to cover the tracks of his criminal activity.

Picking on Anenih, when these other malevolent characters dot the corridors of power and wealth unhindered is simply hypocritical. We must collectively condemn them all when the opportunity presents itself. But since this is not the case, let each continue with the selective amnesia. Afterall, this is Nigeria.
"Selective amnesia you say" broda man Nigeria is riddle with people who are slaves to their emotion, people who have allowed tribal and religious sentiment cloud their sense of reasoning.

You made a fine point by saying the likes of IBB, Obj and cohorts should be sent to jail to rot! I second that! But believe me when it comes to Integrity Buhari stands primus inter paras to any of these people you mentioned, check Buhari's antecedence and the likes, they can't be compared to that of Anenih, Apart from plotting a coup what else did he do? And don't use the post election crises against buhari, I was in the north when that happened and I know for a fact how the common northern muslim thinks and acts.

Anenih has a long record of corruption, and just so you know Buhari is not the subject of discourse here Anenih is.

To everyone in this thread who said Jesus dined with harlots, thieves, murderers, rapist and co. I ask this of you, did he dine with them to encourage them in their sins or did he dine with them to admonish them of their sins and tell or show them that sin is bad and they should repent?!.

I have never heard any of these our so called men of God tell these of politicians to repent of their evil ways, instead they keep quiet. The GO of RCCG should have told GEJ point blank there that he should repent, but they did do that...

Let us not let the wiles and sentiment of petty emotions cloud our sense or reasoning.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Insulted Nigerians By Appointing Anenih As NPA Chairman – CNPP by joseph1832(m): 9:40pm On Dec 23, 2012
PointB: Frankly I don't know what's on the mind of the majority. Their is no poll to ascertain that at the moment. But my argument is that CNPP do not speak for all Nigerians as I cannot recall when they were elected to do so. But that does not take away the validity of the position.

In anycase, why do all these parties approach issues with mentality of market women. Why can't they go to the court to argue their case rather than this crass approach of noisemaking ala Tunde Bakera.
Broda I urge you to have a re-think of your post! Why should you say they're making noise! A government that says its fighting corruption vehemently is appointing an individual who is at the epoch of corruption, and individual who promoted and flourished Godfatherism. This same individual sat back and watched Lucky Igbinedion loot and plunder Edo State.

Haba pointB, when it comes to antecedence, precedence, integrity, accountability, credibility, Tony Anenih is not what comes to the mind of the Nigerian masses, infact he's the direct opposite of these concepts, his bad name follows him everywhere just like flies follow shit!.

And of course the CNPP don't speak for the majority of the Nigerian populace, but the speak my mind on this very issue.

But ma bone of contention is the GO should have spoken to him about the tenets of good governance... A man who sits idle while the people he swore to protect and serve are being murdered and kidnapped left right and centre.

The GO should have scolded him, tell him to sit up and to remember that judgement awaits all even him GEJ.

I honestly stand by CNPP! To think and believe that this same government who go about parading themselves to the whole world that they are fighting corruption and yet they still went ahead to appoint an individual whose integrity, accountability and credibility is no better than that of a common prostitute.

GEJ is revealing his true colours to Nigerians bit by bit! He's showing everybody that him and his party don't give a damn about the opinion and well being of Nigerians.

@Poster: Another excellent analysis, but like I rightly said "charity begins at home" you made mention of Christians posting all sorts of stuff about muslims and their actions and how that prompted you to post this thread.

However the case, I have also witness muslims say all sorts of vile and contemptous things about christians but never have I raised by voice to say kabuto regetta menta on their utterances.

You should focus on your brothers and live whatever christians say to christians afterall they don't and can't know your religion more than you.

Am still trying to phantom it, I've asked myself this question about a billion times but I still can't find a suitable answer.

For me I still like the Anime because its amongst my favourite, I even prefer it to the famed Naruto.

Why is it that anime watchers and manga readers lost interest in Bleach?.

Your opinion is highly valued.
IslamRe: Do Muslims Celebrate Misfortune To Others While Christians Don't? by joseph1832(m): 12:32pm On Dec 21, 2012
@poster I admire your research spirit! However it proved one sided cos you also tried to shield muslims in this post, forgetting the dastardly and abhorrent acts committed by many of them. True christians celebrated the death of Yaradua and so did muslims when Yokowa died! Remember some muslims even protested he (Yakowa) wasn't made governor when Sambo was appointed vice President.

What is good is good and what is bad is bad. Today I will tell you and every other person that christians and muslims are the root cause of all Nigerias problems, you guys allow religious sentiment to cloud your sense or reasoning and this has proved to be an anathema to Nigeria.

If you check my posts on nairaland, I have consistently hammered on pastors and christians and their annoying behaviour, I was born a christian "charity they say begins at home" like I earlier said, what's good's good and what's bad bad. Karl Marx said" Religion is the Opium of the people". I stand by his quote.

PoliticsKidnapping: A Very Lucrative Business! by joseph1832(op): 8:15am On Dec 18, 2012
It is no news that kidnapping is fast becoming a source of income for those Nigerians who have proven themselves to be enemies of the people.

Before hand, kidnapping was only associated with the Niger Delta Militants who use the guise of fighting for their destroyed land to kidnap oil expatriates and as usual, demand for ransom from multinational oil firms.

The police reported that from 2008 to 2010 there was at least 887 cases of kidnapping, one can assume that the majority of people kidnapped are not members of the political elite.

But recent turn of events have shown that many kidnappers have now decided to move up the ladder, why demand for meager sum of cash when you can demand for millions from rogues, taken advantage of the security chasm which has become a norm in the Nigerian Polity. Kidnappers, with their recent activities, have now also become as greedy as the political elites, the kidnapping of the Mother of the minister of finance Professor Kamene Okonjo is proof of this, where the kidnappers first demanded for the staggering sum of N1billion, which was later reduced to N200 million.

Some hours after the kidnapping of Professor Kamene Okonjo, the wife of Rtd General Oluwole Rotimi, former governor of erstwhile western region was kidnapped, the kidnappers demanded for N200million as ransom.

Some days ago, a nollywood actress who is also the special assistant on public affairs to the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, Miss Nkeiru Sylvanus was kidnapped, the kidnappers demanded for N100million.

With the current trend of kidnapping which have gripped the nation, one can aptly say that kidnapping has now turn to a lucrative source of income, perhaps as lucrative as graft! Owing to the gross incompetence, inefficiency, ineffectiveness, dormancy, and lackadaisical attitude often displayed by our security agencies and the government, one can almost say, The victims families pay the ransom money, however way they tend to make us think that they didn't. Ergo, "kidnapping, as a means of livelihood is here to stay", just like graft!.

One can only hope that the government do everything in their power to stop this scourge, if caution is not utilize adequately, kidnappers will soon become as bold as Boko Haram, and then maybe they might actually kidnap GEJ or a serving member of the FEC or even a member of his family, because we know for a fact that the political elites only act on matters which concern and affects them in toto, be it positive or negative.
