BusinessRe: Photography Business Affiliates Needed In Nigeria by joshjosh(m): 4:02am On Jan 12, 2008
great work.  i know you didn't ask for this info.  nigeria is not an enviroment you ask people to pay upon completion. you will send products and not get back your money.

if you can get at least 50% of what the cost will be as a deposit at least that covers your cost or call it a charitable cause. note the photographers themselves have collected money from the clients anyway

MTN and co cannot run a billing system on phones because they know people are not used to settling bills. ask nepa and other agencies how many % of their bills got paid.

when you start collecting your money remind me to send in my invoice please.  wish you well

RomanceRe: Whats Wrong With My Relationship? Help Me! by joshjosh(m): 2:31am On Jan 12, 2008
love they say is blind. marraige is an eye opener.

bro, what more evidence do you need?  sometimes i fear for the next generation of men we are raising up in Nigeria.

our girls never used to be able to get away with murder like these. what is happening?

true love is like a flower nurture it and you see it blosoom. it is so sad to see game players playing with peoples minds and lives in the name of love. yet i hear some women say all men are liars.

move on with your life young man and open your eyes. there would be some beautiful lady out there that deserves your love. dont waste it just yet

God help America if Mrs Clinton becomes the president. that will be between th Clinton's/bush would have ruled Us back to back 24yrs. i don't think banana republics and failed states even manage this record. another bush is waiting in the wings too.

bro kunle. goodafternoon. the problem i find with these websites is lack of good info and pictures. in this day and age a good estate agent can afford a small digital camera. i have sent an email to 2 agents asking for details almost 2 weeks now no reply.

we all dont like travelling to see properties you are not interested in.
RomanceRe: Jamaican Female Dating A Nigerian: Advice by joshjosh(m): 1:19pm On Jan 09, 2008
i don't know what the Nigerian culture is. Nigeria has various ethnic groups. may be more than 500 i don't know exact figures. how can we all behave like one in a country of more than 140m? for those talking about Nigerian men cheating and telling lies i wonder where they learn that from seeing majority of them where brought up by women in Nigeria.

i was brought up knowing God forbid i did some bad things and told the truth i wont be killed for it. but to tell a lie to my grandma and parents was to hang yourself. we got rewarded for telling truth even though we weren't Christians then.

all Nigerian men tell lies. all Nigerian women are angels. wonderful Nigeria women. a lady wants help some ladies here failed her big time.

++++ there is a very big association in Nigeria for people from the west Indies married to Nigerians. i cant remember the name but i know there is a chapter in Benin and Jamaica.

my best friend here is married to a jamaican lady for 25yrs going. their 23yrs girl married an ibo boy last year too. i know quite a few that have stable relationships but somebody got to forget all those stereotype. we ain't all thieves and liars.

it is Nigeria 1 - Jamaica 0. Jamaica ladies 1 - Nigerian ladies 0.
RomanceRe: Does Distance Matter In A Relationship? by joshjosh(m): 11:51am On Jan 09, 2008
they say distance makes the hearts grow closer or is it fonder? from personal experience it is a very good thing but the phone bills are there too to show for it
RomanceRe: Will You Take Back Your Gifts When You Break Up? by joshjosh(m): 6:32pm On Jan 08, 2008
i am finding it hard reading your mind. you mean you will continue to pay bills for an ex? and may i know how long you will keep paying the bills kind sir?

as i said there are gifts and there are gifts. there is difference between giving some girl a God forsaken nokia phone costing you four figures and getting out of legal 6-7 figures financial commitments that continues to cost you dearly. for your info it is not funny having to pay lawyers to stop an ex taking advantage of you financially.

our lives and minds are our personal properties and we are at liberty to do whatever we want as long as it doesn't cause others harm or distress.

a carebean girl married a Ghanain freind some 10 years ago.  she had to cut the thing off because she knew the boys family  would never have allowed it.  she was supposed to grow it back after the marraige but she left it becaue it would affect the kids seeing the extended family.

the things are not cast in stones.

personally i wont date a lady with one. not even in my dreams
RomanceRe: My Fiancee Earns More Than Me And It's Making My Life Miserable by joshjosh(m): 10:14pm On Jan 06, 2008
ok this guy has got a problem. he is a product of a socxiety that values money more than people. we equate earning power to superiority? or better pass you as someone said. didn't know more wages makes you a "better" person.

i know loads of people with money that don't have good heads on their shoulders.

the problem we have as a people is our value for money over people.  i grew up in a house you could spell the poverty with just po. we were all in one room and a parlour growing up. i cannot remember anybody knowing us as people let alone family.  thankfully things changed we are almost related to everyone we pass on the way.

my friend money is not you. things can change financially for you tommorow and you will still not be greater than anyone.  money only gives you comfort and the ability to say yes to most things and help as much people as you can.  money isn't you. you  give your money its name and value.

thanks guys. you guys make my point for me. Nigerians know and appreciate good clean entertainment.  ugly Betty is good and clean fun.

Touchstone & Reveille studios at their best.  no over rated stars and great writers. i am a paid up fan. i have series 1. will get the next too in my library. enjoy it and hope you guys get them to buy over there too.

Becki Newton as Amanda, Ana Ortiz as Hilda and Rebbecca Romijn as alexis Meade put in a strong performance too.
RomanceRe: Will You Take Back Your Gifts When You Break Up? by joshjosh(m): 3:06pm On Jan 06, 2008
thanks guys. let's be serious. she is no thief nor criminal. she is a very fine lady that impatience took hold of. the business here is you cannot just get a flat when you come from naija immediately. we all had to squat at one time or the other. the lady she was living with was marrying and bringing the guy in to live with her so the only alternative i had was her moving in with me which was 100% looking for trouble.

personally, i cannot sleep very comfortably knowing the other half wasn't taken care of. we were stable and committed. i was not ready to marry because others were marrying plus i had loads of things to do with my life at that time. i have seen friends dragged into lets just marry and do it small that went too large you begin to wonder what would have happened if they set out doing it big.

i wish i knew some of you guys then. funny how you feel being taken for a ride. unlike back home here you are still left with paying bills for phone and satelite contracts. there are gifts and there gifts. imaturity has nothing to do with it. my principle is never leave anyone poorer than you met them. but leave you have to with most people. why must you jump on a bus going now where? your life and time is a terrible thing to waste.

God has blessed me with a fabulous lady we will be marrying later this year and discussing this topic with her yesterday she said thank God for her which we always do. i am so glad and can't wait.

you come across various people along life's pathway. i am glad i was there for her because if she was my sister or daughter i would have liked some young man to have done the same but probably cut off the bills earlier than i did because it did become messy and stressful trying to have a clean break. i have sowed my seed and waiting for the harvest.
RomanceRe: Will You Take Back Your Gifts When You Break Up? by joshjosh(m): 2:30am On Jan 06, 2008
lets personalize this now. i am all for leaving things. cell phones and stuff like that are small things.

i dated some lady years ago. helped got a flat i was paying for. she choose to end the relationship because according to her she wants to be married within a year. sadly i was after setting up a business so  was  going through enough stress to add marrying. the lease was a rolling 2 years lease with 8months left. this  i duly paid up as it was in my name.                              we are talking £1400 pcm for 8 months

i also had a car worth £21k with i think about £9000 loan she was using. at £650 x 8 months do the maths.
she was working and earning good money that can easily fund these 2 needs.

at expiry of the lease she wanted me continue paying for the lease. was this fair and would you have done that?  she also pretended she didn't know the money for the car repayment was coming out of my account. i gave her enough chance to take over the repayment because i would rather loose the car than continue the repayment she opted for the 2nd option and i allowed it so they can take the car. at least i got back about £10k which was a forced sale value.

her excuse for all of this was that i moved her into a lifestyle she cannot afford so pay for it. thank God my bank managers hear instructions.

i know to some ladies these are figures but i don't think it is fair to pay for what you don't have any interest/benefits in.

i do expect to be taken for a ride but some sisters don't know fair play.  sadly she went ahead and married some lovely guy and last time i heard they are divorced after 15months. i don't know what happened but i thank God i escaped that hurt.   she did try to make us remain "friends" which i kindly declined.  i was born in the night but definately not yesternight my mother raised us to treat people nicely but not to be fools.

be fair that is all most guys ask for. would i do that again of course yes. she was just a misguided human being and sadly too many about. lets stop loving in words only but in truth and in actions.
CultureRe: Ijebu Girls Are The Best Wife Material by joshjosh(m): 9:01pm On Jan 05, 2008
only God keeps war from happening everyday in Africa. the lady said what she believe and maybe so many other people along with her. suddenly you guys are turning on her like ijebu people are scum of the earth. what is wrong with a sister being patriotic?

some of you will call white people racist. see what you do to one of your own? i think i have met one ijebu person person and she prove this woman right. the young husband was a banker. went to marry her from the village. she saw there was no many garri machine around. next thing you knew she got one and started earning more than a banker.

long live ijebu women. i am not yoruba i must add.

RomanceRe: Does Love And Money Work Hand In Hand? by joshjosh(m): 6:26pm On Jan 05, 2008
i cant remember where i read this they say majority of the trouble in relationships are money troubles. we can talk as much as you like money and the lack of it determines your temperature and even your friends.

i personally think it is better to be talking of love/marriage when you have some good money and avoid the stress. another thing you have to consider is when you have money everyone likes you and you begin the problem of discerning who likes you for your money or you for just you. from my observation the later are very few. money and good wisdom make love work better.

someone said white girls only go for money. i don't know what part of Europe you are talking for. having lived in their midst for 20+ yrs i can say it is not more than 1% you will find with that mindset and they will be the pushy types you see in the press. sadly, that may be informing your opinion.

just keep searching and keep loving and keep working hard. you may find some woman one day that doesn't mind a struggling man and who knows maybe you will find the money to make your life and the young lady own better.
TV/MoviesRe: What Kind Of Movie Do You Want Nigerians To Make? by joshjosh(m): 2:08am On Jan 05, 2008
@ seun please help me here. are there magazines or periodicals dedicated to films review? i don't think people should just criticize for criticism sake. i don't mind people making money as you know it does bother me when i see the image of the country being tarnished in the name of entertainment.

@ stillwater - pot of life is great little piece of drama. simple but powerful. my uncle has one of the original NTA's video so it is still good to watch. i may have to get it copied to a DVD this year. i will try do that next time i go there

if you can run the site or anybody else wish to volunteer, i wont mind paying for the domain registration.

so guys give us names for the site
PhonesRe: GSM Billing: 'Per Minute' Versus 'Per Second'? by joshjosh(m): 12:05am On Jan 05, 2008
seun sorry to say this. people flash me here to call them back but i noticed they do same when i am back home. what really pisses me off is people not find anything wrong in picking my phone to call their friends. apart from the cost this gives out my number to everyone they call. i am on the 6th sim card it is no longer funny.

do they cut you off when you go over the 1minute call when you register for the per second tarrif? that will help me a lot
TV/MoviesRe: What Kind Of Movie Do You Want Nigerians To Make? by joshjosh(m): 11:07pm On Jan 04, 2008
I don't know if any of you saw the pot of life some years ago by NTA Benin. i don't know how much it cost them but it was a beautiful story cleverly executed that went ahead to win international award. i watched a copy of it on VHS video recently boy you just want to applaud the guys who did it. the girl aimiuwu was probably about 12 years.
TV/MoviesRe: The Problem With Nollywood by joshjosh(op): 5:09pm On Jan 04, 2008
this is my last last post on this matter. is there anything other than this movie business that upsets you? why is this personal to you?

how would you embarrass me if i may ask? and what have i done to you that makes your small mind want to attack me? well you may think you are god in your eyes i respect that but i am too old to be intimidated by people like you.
TV/MoviesRe: The Problem With Nollywood by joshjosh(op): 5:05pm On Jan 04, 2008
what are you talking about? . you are not serious so i am going to get on with my day.

you mean the french do the film and only show them in Europe.i know guys from that part of the world that have their own studios here in London. a visit there will shock you. yes they speak the language don't say they don't do their own films themselves. what is wrong with collaborations? have you bothered to see the credits for big busters and see how many movie houses are involved? i will say it against. movie business is not like the beer parlour business that one man run with some few tarts thrown in.

you gave the game away when you used the word "control". i suggest to you only good products can be controlled. the energy the guys use to control the industry can be used to improve & control the scripts/quality.

the french don't do things Nigeria way. they don't do loud self publicity. but hey don't condemn a thing because you want to look tall. and sorry to say this you don't expect french films to be popular in English speaking environment like Nigeria do you? and boy i have you noticed their elegance in selling their culture and tiny little country? don't condemn a good thing thing see what you can learn that is all i will say

enjoy your day and weekend and once more chill. your life don't depend on this. we lived as a nation before nollywood and last time i checked nollywood is not our saviour.
TV/MoviesRe: The Problem With Nollywood by joshjosh(op): 3:35pm On Jan 04, 2008
calm down and chill.
how can you say the Gambia and Senegal are unrealistic targets when they are not even bigger than a state in Nigeria?

there is no industry that does not need funding of some kind. even hollywood is subsidized to some degree by the sates. that is not the argument. along with rights comes responsibility. your industry on one hand cannot be asking for govt. assistance and not allow regulations on the other hand. i have asked most people in the know and it boils down to that

it is no minus to be able to make big screen. what world do you live in. how many people have ipods to watch their movies on?

as it is your right to show whatever you want to show can you accept other peoples rights to not think much of it kind sir?
TV/MoviesRe: The Problem With Nollywood by joshjosh(op): 3:00pm On Jan 04, 2008
thanks for that. how many of those films have you seen on screen apart from on africa channels?

it is an open forum here. we don't all see things the same way. have you sat down to watch any of these franch african films at all? if you do you will see they got there on merit.

i like the fact that nollywood is amongst yje first 80 in the world. i get screendaily mails and screen magazine  and broadcast weekly.  i will like you to see what they think about the industry. anyone you se here not singing the praise of nollywood do not necesarilly hate the industry. personally i think we can all accept there is rooms for improvement.

and the reporter saying they made it Cannes Film Festival in France is absolutely rubbish because even mama gbenga the akara seller in tinubu square would be allowed into cannes if she buys the ticket and pay the necessary fund to buy sponsorship.

if you want me to get you into any 80 list of any best nigerians in the world and you can give me the money give me 60hrs you will be on CNN and BBC.

we know how these things work. we know how many people didn't push enough buttons to even go up that list if you probe just for instance to be able to get some funding benefits from the European film commission. that is just an example.
there are statistics and there are statistics.
