Mizwisdom: What you're saying doesn't really make sense. I'm a lady, and I can't show any preference to any first son. If I get pregnant, it's still the same 9 months I will carry all my kids so why so much first son, first son emphasis? I think this is more pronounced among Igbos because of inheritance but in my tribe all children inherit properties so why will I pay special attraction to first son, or if I have a senior daughter, I will still look for first son to love more? please it's not all mothers/fathers that show preference, it's very wrong, stop this first son talk especially as you're elderly, your other kids will know and might likely abandon you for your first son. Now what makes you think it's predominant in Igbo land? You said something about inheritance... How many Igbo first son's have gotten inheritance from their parents these days? The mother and child bond especially with the first sons is not predominant with the Igbos alone...it's predominant everywhere and it is not tied to any inheritance thing but rather a natural bond. I strongly feel also that this bond is synonymous to most women and not all of them...it is individualistic based and therefore is not tribe based. |

Business › Re: FG Calls For Arrest Of Innocent Chukwuma, Innoson Motor Boss, Two Others by Jowanson: 9:57pm On Apr 15, 2019 |
maximunimpact: The Federal Government Monday urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to issue a bench warrant for Innoson Nigeria Limited’s chairman Mr. Innocent Chukwuma and two of his employees.
They were charged in a fraud case before Justice Ayokunle Faji.
The Police charged them with an alleged N2.4billion shipping fraud, but the Attorney-General of the Federation later took over the case.
Others named in the charge are Charles Chukwuma, Maximian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines and Anajekwu Sunny.
The prosecution is praying the court to order the arrest of Innoson Motors Chairman and his staff for failing to turn up to take their plea in the criminal charge.
Yesterday, Chukwuma and his staff were absent.
Prosecuting Counsel Mr. Julius Ajakaiye moved an application urging the court to order the absent defendants’ arrest.
He said the charge was served on them through a court-ordered February 8, 2016 substituted service following the AGF’s take-over of the case.
Ajakaiye said since then, the third and fourth defendants had been coming to court, while the first, second and fifth defendants “have refused, failed and neglected to appear in court till date”.
Consequently, he said the defendants were yet to take their plea and should therefore be compelled to appear.
He added that an April 12, 2016 amended charge could not be served on the absent defendants.
Ajakaiye urged the court to grant his application by ordering their arrest.
But defence counsel Chief George Uwechue (SAN) Prof. C. Mbadugha prayed the court to dismiss the application.
They argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to issue the warrant against the defendants “because they were not properly before the court”.
They said the application offends Order 6 of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules, adding that there was no proper service on their clients.
The prosecution accused the defendants of conspiring to unlawfully falsify shipping clearance documents.
They were accused of “uttering” (presenting) the allegedly falsified shipping documents as collateral to Guaranty Trust Bank Plc to allegedly obtain a loan of N2.4billion.
The Federal Government claimed that the defendants committed the offence at Apapa wharf on October 10, 2013.
The alleged offence is contrary to sections 1(2) (c) and 3(6) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17, Laws of the Federation 2004.
Justice Faji adjourned until July 3 for ruling.

The FG of that time was colluding with the soldiers to oppress you people and rigged elections in the Western Region in favour of Akintola who was their man. There was tension in the country and people began to cry for intervention. That led men like Nzeogwu and Ademoyega to start planning the coup. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all experiencing issues this morning for users worldwide. Facebook and Instagram are both inaccessible, with news feeds refusing to refresh and the main Facebook.com domain unavailable. WhatsApp messages aren’t being sent or received, and users of Facebook’s main services have headed to Twitter to share that they’re having issues.
The outages appear to have started at around 6:30AM ET this morning, and come just a month after Facebook experienced its worst outage ever. Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram were all inaccessible for hours last month, and it wasn’t until over 24 hours later that Facebook finally gave the all clear. Facebook blamed a “server configuration change,” and apologized for the outages.

Atiku is not the one who will be at the court to adjudicate on these matters. Every move by the plaintiff will be met with counter moves by the defendant. Ebullience: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accused PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, of manufacturing results of the last presidential election to prove his case at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
The electoral umpire filed its response on Thursday at the tribunal in Abuja. It distanced itself from an electronic sheet that purportedly contained the genuine results of the presidential election.
Mr Abubakar’s legal team submitted the sheet at the tribunal last month, contending it was obtained from an internal compilation of results on INEC’s Internet server.
The team, amongst other submissions, said Mr Abubakar won by more than six million votes, but his victory was allegedly suppressed by the commission in favour of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr Abubakar was derided by supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress after the claim became public. Mr Buhari’s campaign also wrote to the police and the State Security Service to launch a criminal investigation against Mr Abubakar. It accused him of maliciously accessing INEC’s files.
INEC’s response
The umpire said it, “does not share information with such an unclassified entity and any information purportedly derived therefrom which does not accord with the result as declared by INEC is not authentic but rather was invented for the purpose” of the tribunal, according to excerpts of the filings seen by PREMIUM TIMES.
In the 291-page response, INEC said it did not transmit results via electronic channels, but used manual collation as stipulated by law. It, however, did not say whether it collated results from across the country and compiled them on an Internet-enabled computer.
INEC specifically denies the existence of electronic transmission of results and it is unknown to the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended),” it said. Mr Buhari was declared winner of the polls with about 3.9 million votes. He will be sworn in for a second term on May 29.

AreaNews: The All Progressive Congress (APC) and the winner of the February 23, 2019 Presidential Election, has filed a motion at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja that the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the poll, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a Nigerian and therefore not qualified to have stood for the election.
The Party claimed that the former Vice President is a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian citizen and his petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, its own candidate, should be dismissed for lacking in merit.
In a reply to the petition of Atiku and the PDP praying for their declaration as the lawful winner of the presidential poll, the APC said that the 11.1 million votes recorded in favor of the two petitioners should be voided and considered a waste by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The APC’s reply to the petition, filed by its lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi faulted the candidacy of Atiku in the election insisting that as a Cameroonian, he ought not to have taken part in the presidential poll of Nigeria in the first instance.
The Party averred that Atiku was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa, in Northern Cameroon and is, therefore, a citizen of Cameroon and not a Nigerian by birth.

When did sex or tramadol start killing 4 people instantly?... and can Nigerians for once forget about whatever moral vice a person was involved in and understand that no one deserves to be murdered without having their case investigated properly.
The tragedy of Africa is that we are too lazy to investigate anything, so we just jump into quick conclusions and then begin to judge and preach moral lessons.
Because we never investigate anything to a proper conclusion, we keep repeating the same killer mistakes. Even the so called police after concluding their so called investigations will end up copying and pasting the same comments from threads like this and present it as official findings.
There are 1001 things that could have killed those 4 people; it could be some form of poisoning, it could just be that the drug they used was fake (and might just kill another person if this isnt investigated), it could be outright murder, it could also very likely be carbon monoxide from generator fumes, it could just be anything. Overdose of those substance could have pulled the trigger that killed them! Sexual marathon such as a foursome on it's own will increase their blood pressure. Adding those killer substance and perhaps they may have taking an overdose of those substance could have increased their blood pressure and caused a severe cardiac arrest. |

DanielBryte: Fufu is dangerous, Eba can kill you!! Doctors make shocking discoveries about some favourite Nigerian foods that can send you to early grave- Details can save your life
While food is good for the body and necessary for survival, humans are also expected to be wary of the meals they ingest and the rate at which they consume them. Some types of food, if taken excessively, are capable of causing health risks. The onus is on you to learn why certain foods are unhealthy, why you shouldn’t take them and how you can make better choices on daily basis.
Here are some unhealthy meals Doctors have warned Nigerians to be cautious about their consumption:
Egusi soup:
At the mention of this soup, many will salivate as it is much-loved by many Nigerians… but hold that saliva. Egusi contains something called phytosterols which when consumed, compete with cholesterol for absorption in the digestive system.

Also, egusi has a high level of calories and when garnished with few chunks of stock fish and two pieces of meat, it has a total of roughly 700 calories per serving. Imagine consuming it with about 3 wraps of eba which is about 600 calories.
Loaf of sliced bread:
Bread is widely consumed daily across the country especially because it doesn’t have to be cooked before consumption. Bread belongs to the class of starchy foods and overt consumption increases the risk of getting diabetes.

If you are taking in 100 grams of bread, you are consuming 265 calories, especially if it is white bread. Some Nigerian-made breads are also not completely bromate free. Potassium bromate is added to help strengthen the bread dough and this chemical is cancerous. If you can steer off bread, there are other excellent choices that are low in carbs.
One minute Noodles:
While noodles can’t be called a Nigerian food, it has been adopted into Nigeria’s stream of foods such that it is consumed by both young and old. Nigerians go for noodles because it is cheap, easy and fast to cook, hence the name “instant noodles.”

Tests have revealed that noodles contain high sodium which aside being cancerous, causes heart disease and skin damage. Eating too much of noodles is bad for digestion and it also leads to obesity.
Eba:
Processed from cassava, garri is a food rich in carbohydrate; both the yellow and the white type. Garri helps to restore lost energy but a high rate of consumption does more harm than good. A cup of garri contains about 360 calories, 95% of which is carbohydrates and further consumption with soup, meat and/or fish, increases the level of calories.

Consuming a great deal of starchy foods like eba is like welcoming excess weight with open arms.
Fufu, made from cassava:
Fufu is another staple food made from cassava and its origin can be traced to Ghana. Fufu is of good nutritional value as it is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates, potassium and low in cholesterol. Some are turned off by the smell that fufu gives and/or the fact that it takes longer time to digest.

Research has it that every part of cassava plant has a toxic chemical called Linamarin. This chemical, even after boiling the cassava, doesn’t change its state and this could be harmful during digestion.
Image result for Fufu Also, under-processing of fufu, which is rampant, has harmful implications on the health. This is because the cyanide content is not reduced to a non-toxic state. Women and children are susceptible to cyanide poisoning as they are usually the ones who carry out the processing of fufu.
Fried plantain:
There is a meme trending on social media about plantain which reads, “How can you say in good faith that the God who created plantain doesn’t love you?”. This is proof of the love people have for plantain. Granted, plantain is a good source of carbohydrates, vitamin B6, vitamin C and is also a natural remedy for peptic ulcer.

However, plantain contains a considerable amount of carbohydrates and more calories are produced when it is fried in oil. Also, the water content decreases when fried and this might not be satiating enough.
Integrating plantain into your diet is making way for ample calorie intake. Taking 100 grams of plantain is consuming about 30 grams of carbohydrates, 15 grams of sugar and 120 calories. Other methods of cooking plantain (aside frying) should be adopted if one cannot live without plantain.
Pastries:
There’s an endless list of flour-based pastries which are baked, fried or roasted and are often taken between meals. Healthy snacking helps you maintain physical and mental energy and it also helps one have control over main meals. Snacking is however, only healthy when it is done to control appetite and meet nutritional needs. It shouldn’t become a habit because many snack foods are high in fat, calories, sugar and salt.

One tends to gain extra pounds through added daily calories if snacking is done out of boredom or habit. Consuming too many sugary pastries could also lead to tooth decay. Endeavour to avoid buying pastries on the street. Home-made pastries are advisable as one is sure of the type of oil used for the preparation. Oil when used over time becomes acidic but most sellers tend to keep old oil in use and keep frying with oil which is already harmful to
Rice:
Rice is rich in carbohydrates and fairly low in calories. It is a good source of energy because it is carbohydrate-dense. Consuming too much of carbohydrate-dense foods may cause one to eat little of other nutritious meals needed for a healthy life.

Eating too much rice could adversely affect glucose metabolism in the body. White rice contains about 4 grams of fiber per cup and consuming it in excess would fill one up preventing intake of other foods.
White rice is also low in phytic acid because of the bran which is always removed during processing. Ample research has it that white rice increases the risk of getting diabetes. It is advisable to consume brown rice or reduce the rate of white rice consumption.
Pounded yam:
A lot of Nigerians love pounded yam and it is widely consumed across the country. Pounded yam is a source of carbohydrate and a good source of energy which contains dietary fiber that helps reduce constipation.

Pounded yam is high in calories as a small slice of yam contains about 330 calories and one tin cup of pounded yam contains about 400 calories from carbohydrates alone. Pounded yam has the highest glycemic index compared to boiled yam and the process of arriving at pounded yam makes carbohydrates more available to enzymes that disintegrate the carbohydrates to glucose.
Eating pounded yam is consuming calories with no real nutrition. Diabetic patients are advised to steer off foods with high starch and embrace foods with low starch.

Politics › Re: Rivers Election: Don't Rejoice Prematurely, Eze Tells Wike, Abe by Jowanson: 10:00am On Apr 04, 2019 |
sophsia62: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Nyesom Wike, and his camp not to rejoice yet over the results being collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as same is an illegality that will not stand a legal test.
Eze, in a statement circulated in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, noted that besides the fact that the results collated by the INEC had been grossly manipulated in favour of Governor Wike, to allegedly justify the huge bribe sum he had remitted to some senior officers of the commission to help him skew the processes to his favour, the unconstitutional suspension of the electoral process in the middle of a lawful exercise was already a ground for the nullification of the process.
Eze, who is one of the loudest voices of the APC in the South-South region, however advised Governor Wike and the Senator representing the Rivers South-East senatorial district of Rivers state, Senator Magnus Abe, to stop celebrating prematurely as the alleged concocted results in favour of PDP would eventually not sail, noting that the people of Rivers state spoke overwhelmingly against the reign of an administration, which had robbed of peace, security and development, the choice which would eventually be upheld in a properly held polls soon.
According to the APC chieftain, "the ongoing declaration of concocted results of the highly corrupted general elections of March 9th is a high class entertainment exercise that has nothing to do with democracy in any form. However, if it has anything to do with democracy, then one will describe it as a charade, sham and promotion of impunity and undemocratic plot, aimed at rubbishing and subverting the electoral rights of Rivers state and her people, who voted massively for a better tomorrow by electing Engr. Biokpomabo Awara of African Action Congress (AAC).
Eze encouraged Nigerians to disregard the concocted results that are being dished by a confused INEC to justify their corrupt nature and deceive the public but the fact remains that INEC at this time around have caught themselves in a trap that will change the fate of democracy in Nigeria.
Eze went further to highlight that INEC having admitted in paragraph one of her 10th of March, Press Release that it has conducted elections on the 9th of March in Rivers State and based on this fact INEC must by virtue of section 27 of the Electoral Act, announce the results but they decided to postpone the already held elections which according to the law is ultra vires, illegal and unconstitutional.
This fact of unlawful decision by INEC will surely be challenged in court by virtue of section 26 subsection 5 of the Electoral Act which shall led to the suspension of the concocted results so far announced until the matter is determined so I sincerely sympathize with those celebrating an illegal process that will be thrown to the dustbin where it rightly belong.
"The INEC are fully aware of the illegality of their action, but must see to its planned conclusion to justify the huge amount of money made available to them by the father Christmas outgoing Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike. If they have the moral grounds to continue collation of results in Rivers state, having waited for 3 weeks and for alleging in their suspension letter that their officials were abducted, so who was responsible for the collation of the results they claimed to have in their vault and currently announcing?
"The actions of INEC, particularly the activities of its Rivers REC, Obo Effanga, should not have surprised anybody as we have on several occasions alerted Nigerians that for INEC for no reason, have suspended the collation of results of the 9th March polls, when its benefactor was losing woefully, in order to embark on the alteration of the results. If not for the reason of altering these results in favour of Governor Nyesom Wike, how did INEC manufacture the 19 local government areas results it said that she presented to the world when it stated that the election was marred by violence.
"Apart from the unconstitutional declaration of results after the mandatory 21days as contained in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, coupled with the fact that INEC kept in her custody the result sheets of the Rivers state polls, against the Electoral Law that stipulates that election results should be kept in the custody of CBN, what INEC has succeeded to achieve in its present illegality is to justify the billions of naira that Governor Wike may have paid to some of her staff, knowing very well that this illegality will not stand the test of time.
"I am shocked that Governor Wike and Senator Abe are dancing naked over a result, which as lawyers they know that this exercise is one in futility as the election will not only be cancelled and repeated, but Wike will surely not be the Rivers state Governor in the next dispensation. So the celebration over an illegal excercise demonstrates the disdain that these two have for democracy and people of Rivers state", Eze said.
Eze specially commended and congratulated an elder statesman; prominent Ijaw leader and vocal critique of rogue regimes in Rivers State, High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe for not minting his age and risk to stand against Wike and Abe's plot to subvert the will of Rivers State electorates. This fearless Ijaw Chief and outspoken critic of rogue regimes in Rivers State led a Coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs to condemn INEC for forging unity with the government of Rivers State to deny the electorate their preferred choices in the disputed polls.
He commended the Rivers State women, elders and youths for coming out en-mass "to protest the plot to enslave them further for the next four years", assuring them their protests and risks would not be in vain, adding "every democratic step would be taken to bring justice to Rivers state and her people, no matter the odds. So I sincerely appeal to all and sundry to be prayerful and allow God and judiciary to give us the justice we deserve."
https://www.akelicious.net/2019/04/rivers-election-dont-rejoice.html This Eze goes to school guy is suffering from sifia painment lol! I just don't understand what APC is looking for in Rivers State. The party has been abolished from contesting in this new dispensation... Instead of them to go sort their in house brouhaha, they are busy making a fool of themselves. They should be thinking of reorganizing and restrategising and stop crying over spilled milk...And who is Eze in the first place ? Some politicians just want to be relevant...Anyway talk is cheap! Wike carry go jare..The people spoke through their votes and they spoke well..Wike has been consistent in his projects..things people can see. And some fools want to play Lagos type of politics in Rivers state.. It cannot work! |
