what are you rambling about. i didnt go to school in nigeria, i went to school in the US. and yes soda can disolve metal, wear away stone, porcelain and enamal. as for cancer you need to do you research of what causes skin cancer since obviously you havent. acid rain is technicaly an organic acid (as is what is found in soda) and can occur naturaly as well as due to man made causes (polution). the ph of rain water is 5.5 acid rain is 4.8-5.4. the ph of soda is 2.5-3.0.

of course you studied in Ogbete
And you go talk say i insult you if i advise your father to withdraw your school fees and get a teddy bear in the alternative.

soda is acidic, alot of the things you eat/drink are (more so then acid rain as a matter of fact)
Acidic enough to corrode iron, wear away statue, cause skin cancer etc have you even bothered to find the diff btw organic and inorganic acids?
have you taken time to find the Ph of Krest as a carbonated drink?
Anyways school fees are either paid or , , now tell us what exactly happened to yours? grin

Sure, acid rain is a real phenomenon. It occurs when rain falls in an atmosphere with a high carbon dioxide content. The mixture is a very weak acid which does no appreciable harm even to the human skin (if any at all). If acid rains were that corrosive, the Chinese and Indians would be the most noticeable victims due to the high levels of pollution in their atmosphere as a result of industrialization. Truly, 'my people perish because they lack knowledge.'
Going by your carbon dioxide theory, carbonated drinks (aka soft drinks) are all Acid Minerals grin grin grin grin grin

@ Poster

You are not wrong at all but as a school leaver, there are a whole lot of things that will remain an enigma till you swim in the labor market. then you can say why such happens let me be brief.

An Organization has 10 field employees, 7 men 3 women, amongst the 7 men, 5 re btw the ages of 35 to 45 while the rest 2 are young chaps btw 22 to 30. while the women are swimming in their mid thirties.
In a year, calculate how many work hours you will loose on family related issues not forgetting that the 2 females go on maternity leave at least for six months in a year?

Calculate how much the coy is spending on each staff children welfare(education, health etc) and juxtapose it with the profit made that year

Should the coy get an out of location job, amongst the 10 field personnel that are benefit bound, how many do you think you can transfer easily without paying extra on bigger guest house and a plethora of inconveniences.
going by the illustration above, i think this coy's best option lies on 2 out of 10.

How much do you think that someone with about 10yrs work experience will charge an employer be it the banking sector or oil and gas? his annual entitlement alone can service 3 or 4 chaps if i am not mistaken.

bottom line is this; the older you get, the bigger liability you are to your employer who is there to make profit not sentiments. they dont see it from the fresh graduate point of view, to me, the age thing is secondary i thought you should be talking about the ridiculous amount these freshers are paid, 20k,25k,35k etc graduates at that, yet they are the ones that do all the jobs.
Anyways what ive noticed is hire one Oga (old liability, though experienced ,of course paid well) he sits as a departmental head and directs a plethora of greenhorns (cheap labour) tasks are accomplished, the company makes profit, while the green horn with time gathers experience enough to become the oga but till then you go hear am grin grin grin

Why do people carry fake news thank God for d internet i jst checkd every part of d net now and discover dat dis acid rain its nt harmful to human bt to plants, animals n aquatic lifes, I was told its common in some part of d states xpecialy in goose bay n dey neva die since o,
young man, be wary of what you read from the internet because you hardly know where the info is coming from.
the issue pro-tem-pore is basic O-level chemistry when you were taught Acid, Bases and Salts, first term SS1.
I think i agree with the 1999 US resolution and i go with Agbero. havin said that, the common soluble trioxocarbonates are K2CO3,Na2CO3 and i think NH42CO3
its been long i studied it though, but i believe that the solubility of CO2 in rain water is inconsequential,
come to think of it CO2 is used by bottling companies as preservatives, they end up calling it carbonated water, the shhh sound you hear when you open the likes of coke, fanta, sprite etc
if we go by this theory then we should stop taking minerals cos the CO2 bubbled into it will dissolve in the water to give ACID MINERAL grin grin grin
Tell me CO2 can trap infra red to cause global warming, i will agree
but tell me CO2 can cause Acid rain, then i will ROTFLMAO
Those that have not lived in the Delta and some parts of Ikeja think that acid rain is new, i laugh
what do you think that fades your car colour when used for sometime?
What do you think are those brown lines on your white cloth when u spread it outside?
what do you think are those black lines at the base of your building that you see and say, your house needs repainting?(perhaps deposits of PbS,CaO,FeOetc from acidic reactions of trioxocarbonates)
What do you see on the roof of houses flaying over warri, Ph,Benin etc those brown thick stuff that looks like mud (presumably deposits of Fe2O3,Al203 etc fall out of acidic reactions)?
Lastly, has anyone been to onitsha lately? what do you think is the reason why the Zik's statue looks like his eyes and nose bridge is joining together?
we have been living with Acid rain from time immemorial, its absolutely nothing to worry your head about

Politics › Re: Yar’adua Returns To Work Next Week - Associates by jpphilips(m): 6:04pm On Mar 23, 2010
The on-going scramble for positions in a soon to be reconstituted Federal cabinet could shortly hit a brick wall because President Umaru Yar’adua intends to resume duties in his office next week, a top source close to the ailing president told Daily Trust yesterday. However, another family source separately told Daily Trust that Yar’adua will be fit to resume work by the end of next month.

According to the top sources, Yar’adua intends to make a national radio and television broadcast to signal his resumption of work as early as Monday or Wednesday next week. They said Yar’adua may not write a letter to the National Assembly intimating it of his return because he did not transmit a letter before he proceeded on medical vacation, even though his spokesman later said Yar’adua recognised Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as the Acting President.

Both sources said Yar’adua has made much progress physically since his return to the country late last month, and that his remaining medical problem now is speech-related. The sources said the ailing president now walks around the house and also around the garden, where there are many birds and animals.

They said Yar’adua brought a speech therapist with him from the Saudi Arabian hospital and the doctor has been working since then to improve his speech. Both sources said he has made progress in his speech. One of the sources told Daily Trust that Yar’adua’s return to the country last month was “premature,” and that he was brought back before he finished his therapy “for political reasons.”

In the last two weeks, Daily Trust learnt that Yar’adua received several visiting family members, close friends, some political associates, some state governors and also some personal staff, even though he has not yet met with Acting President Goodluck Jonathan. Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience, however visited the residence and they met with Hajia Turai Yar’adua.

The sources said Yar’adua’s seclusion since his return to the country was ordered by the Saudi doctors because he suffered a severe infection while at the Saudi hospital when he received some visitors. The people who have been able to meet with him after his return, the sources said, were made to go through some disinfecting chambers before they were ushered into his presence. Those procedures have ended now, the sources said.

According to our sources, Yar’adua is not happy with the Acting President for sacking his aides, instituting a probe of his regime’s contract awards and dissolving his council of ministers. It is therefore likely that his resumption of work would severely upstage the on-going selection of new ministers by the Acting President.

Yar’adua first left the country for medical treatment in Saudi Arabia on November 21, last year and returned to the country after 93 days. While he was away, the National Assembly adopted a unanimous resolution in early February to recognise the Vice President as Acting President, despite Yar’adua’s failure to transmit a letter of medical vacation in line with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution.

Since Yar’adua’s return to the country, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has continued to run the country and has carried out many far-reaching political measures, including dissolving the Federal cabinet last Wednesday.

Romance › Re: Bored, Lonely, Starting To Hate Nigerian Men: by jpphilips(m): 5:44pm On Mar 23, 2010
here is my advise to you:
- close your legs for the first 6 months of meeting a guy. men usually dont cherish/respect something hat they got easily so stay away from any sexual relationship before you are sure he is the right guy. any intimacy before 6 months is a FAIL! if he cant wait then he is not right for you.

- get to know him. you give yourself to "strangers" and then complain later that they are the way they are.? get to know the guys you date. dont be emotionally cheap! discover them, talk, ask questions etc let them focus on YOU not the booty.

- go to his house. thats where it all starts. if you havent been to your mans house then he is hiding something from you there.

- invite yourself in his house at 3am in the morning. only a man who has something to hide or who has lady friends over sometimes will be mad at you for coming to his house uninvited.

- check his phone. a person who has nothing to hide will gladly hand over his phone to you.

- know his friends and family. if you never met his parents, real friends then you are not his woman. yes people will tell you that it will take time to meet them and thats when you tell him that he will take an equal amount of time for him to "get down" with you.

men would tell you that you have to trust them but trust has to be earned so therefore dont trust any man until you are 150% that he is THE ONE. raise your standards!

but remember that even with all this things checked, it doesnt mean that a man will stay faithful all his life so you have to remember that relationships are a constant struggle to be on top of your game, the day you slip, someone will be there to take your place in his eyes, mind and bed!

ps: some would say that these are drastic measures but in the posters shoes, drastic measures have to be taken before she "join the other side" LOL. ******become a lesbian******

even if you cripple oil and gas in Nigeria which is unlikely though,
The west will continue their cocoa and port management, export etc while the east will focus on their imports, the north will concentrate on what they know best.

@ beaf

Nigeria is the Worlds top gas flarer (13%). We produce more greenhouse gases than the whole of sub-saharan Africa combined. It amounts to 3.25% the total gas consumtion of the US and 4% of total gas consumption in the EU.

Nigeria flares 23 billion cubic meters per year, enough to meet all our energy needs, with a surplus for export, yet PHCN supplies constant blackout; are they ND as well? Shocked

The country foolishly burns up US $2.5 billion annually through flaring. If some Nigerians embrace stupidity and blame the ND for polution, then it is no wonder that for this huge losses, oil companies have only been charged between US$150,000 and US$370,000 annually Shocked. Yes, lets blame ND elders because we are a little silly.
I have only spoken of costs (the only thing that concerns some people), nothing has been said about the deadly toxins released by these flares (several of which exist in close proximity to communities). . . Maybe ND people don't matter.
I can now say that instead of JP Phillips making any sense with his outbursts and truckload of crap, Ibime has clarified issues succinctly. And for all those lover of truth and conscience, hear him. He obviously knows more than about the Niger Delta than JP Phillips.
@ beaf that was your quote up there and i implore you to send a succinct clear message to your readers when you bring in the issue of gas flaring.

personally, i do have a big problem with that. i cant imagine the Government and its cohorts wasting Gas through flaring when we don't even have basic electricity.
i equally had problems when the government proposed the $10 /cuft3, i saw it as an insult to the intelligence of the Niger deltans who bears the greater brunt of the flaring the acid rain, dreadful temperature not withstanding.
The funniest part is that the Government is tasking themselves on a holding where they have more than 50% stake and want to paint it for the NDs that they are solving their problem. grin grin grin grin
At a point i suggested to an Engr friend of mine who agreed with me that the FG does not necessarily need to overhaul the whole system to be able to harness that Gas unless you are looking at commercial distribution, on the other hand,
what they just need do is increase the capacity of the Gas turbines that serve the flow stations .
then use this gas and generate electricity for the surrounding communities, that way the gas can be utilized, the last time i checked, there are plethora of this flow stations all around the ND,
at least we can say that every community with a flow station has constant light, i believe its a good start in alleviating their suffering.

Now the theory has been said let us go down to real facts.

SPDC on the eastern front has a F/s in imo river 1,2,3.
the distance from imo river to Aba (a major city) is about 20km. common sense tells me that laying an approx. 12'' pipeline from Imo river to Aba will cost about $15million sundry issues not withstanding, then the capacity of the Gas turbine serving imo river 1,2,3 will be increased and perhaps a storage facility constructed. then a Gas turbine of about $180million constructed in Aba, and SPDC can guarantee steady supply of Gas from that front, invariably, Aba will have constant electricity.I hope you can quantify in monetary terms what that will do to the Economy of Abia state.

lets come to porthacourt

SPDC still on the eastern front has F/S at Adibawa, Rumuekpe, obele,Agbada 1 and 2,Elenwo,ogale and Ebubu including the Shell IA.
tell me how much will it cost to run a pipeline from Agbada to eleme, Obigbo to Ph city,Shell IA to Transamadi (this i think has been done) etc? to ensure that PH has steady light using Gas turbines and saving the Environment. This set up will not take more than 3 high capacity Gas turbines that will serve the whole of PH if strategically positioned,PHCN distribution units markets and distributes, pays NNPC/SPDC for their gas and save a few for staff and maintenance and everybody is happy.
I was in ekulama some time and standing about 10 ft from a flare tower my thermometer was reading a temperature of well over 111 deg. celsius, hope you know what that means.
Now supposing Exxon Mobil/NNPc can do same on the Iboe community front and its environs through their QIT, Chevron and SPDC West on Escravos front extending to warri and Asaba if possible,Agip on Omoku front and its environs then the likes of ADDAX and AFREN for osun states and co, i can bet you that all the oil producing communities will be boasting of steady supply of Electricity.

beaf, we both agree we have a problem on our hands but the bigger question is how do we solve it?
Now see where i have a bigger problem, on digging deeper on this proposal i thought was genius, i made the following observation;
Most of the lines have either been decommissioned as a result of either security reasons and well drought or your MEND's Agitation
to mention but a few are; 8'' imo river 1 to Oza, Afam and Egberu
AFAM to Egbema
afam to Elelenwo etc
now we are talking about spending millions of dollars either rehabilitating the damaged ones or constructing new ones.

beaf, i still want to ask you again?how does this wanton destruction of oil and gas installations solve the Niger Delta Problem?
WHAT DID MEND DO WHEN THE FG CAME UP WITH THAT RIDICULOUS PROPOSAL
?

nothing, except to Kidnap expatriates and disturb my peace with their sporadic shootings in Mile 3, now tell me how does it solve their problem? how does those blown up pipelines solve their environmental degradation problem?

I have never disputed whether or not the the NDs have issues because ive spent a lifetime there but the issues remain how best did they handle it?
Do not mix the cause of a problem with the solution.

Was it too much for Mend to Abduct the then GMD of NNPC and Minister for petroleum and give them the flogging of a lifetime?
Was it too much for them to destroy everything Atiku has at Onne port both FOT and FLT, in the name of concession, Atiku's Intels took away their port,
what did the Almighty MEND do?
fold their arms looking for bunkery points to patronize dats Rubbish if you ask me.

Those guys are a bunch of derailed miscreants without focus.
Olabode george stole as much as 80billion and he got less sentence than a graduate pursuing a masters degree yet he is the unluckiest juxtaposed with the other corrupt politicians .

What will it take them to squeeze Ibori to grab 5billion naira to complete the dualization of the east west road since the Government has failed them?

First of all MEND has to understand that their problem is corruption, i just made mention of strategically positioning gas turbines to generate electricity, yet NDDC has a budget Annually bigger than the internally generated revenue of Anambra state. it is obvioujs that MEND hasn't realized the need to channel their Manpower and resources to fight corruption than sending beaf to be making noise on Nairaland shocked shocked shocked

Timi Alaibe had billions while he was the NNDC chairman, what did he do with the money? and what question is MEND asking him? fighting corrupt politicians is as good as fighting the Government itself.
Advise your MEND to behead a corrupt ND politician and let me see if Awe and fear will not grip all ND politicians and give them a year and see if you wont get your oil's worth.
Funny Enough, ordinary Eze gbakagbaka has a convoy almost the size of the Governors, Go to Bayelsa and see that your chiefs are living off the wealth of all of you and you are romancing them at the detriment of your jobs and Environment.
The western society see them as mere criminals simply because they are as confused as i am in trying to understand what their struggle is about.
Should MEND fight corruption in this country, the oil companies that feel their investments are secured will support and finance them,
the citizens they have secured their jobs will be proud of them, more foreign investments will be witnessed and jobs created.
if they had a scintilla of common sense will be representing the corruption watch dog in Nigeria.

Beaf you can be supporting MEND like i care but i will categorically state here that with the way MEND is positioning themselves, they will never solve the ND problems. Rather create more

Now, ask yourself one simple question; why are the banks letting people go? The simple answer is that they needed to cut down on superfluous staff to get back to profitability. The banks had become bloated with assets that had since turned into liabilites.

Now ask yourself who was the CBN Governor when this unhealthy bloating was taking place. Every savvy economics knows that when there's a bubble, there's a bust coming along soon enough. Now which CBN Governor failed to keep a closer eye on this artificial bubble?

The Banks are not charitable organizations. They have to make a profit to remain viable businesses. reducing cost is a clear way of doing that, and terminating staff they do not NEED is an easy way of doing that.

If Soludo had acted earlier and decisively to prevent the rot in the banking sector from spreading, none of these would have happened. But the man had one eye on governing your state, and gullible people like yourself nearly voted him in.
Good thing he lost, eh? Grin

The Courts and EFCC are already taking care of that issue and so no need to comment on that. But what I do know is that sending people to jail is not a macro-economic index. He will not be judged on the number of people he pulled down but the economy he creates relative to what he met.
If he thinks what will determine his success is tough-talk and number of people who he sends to jail then I must say the problem is bigger than I thought it was because it will become a case of Sanusi not even understanding his job description.

we have the police, efcc, icpc, ccb who it is their duty to fight corruption and abuse of office. If Sanusi thinks he can destroy the economy, put millions of Nigerians out of work, destroy confidence in economy and hope that history will judge him kindly merely because he sent Cecielia Ibru to jail then unfortunately he simply does not understand his job description.
Why am i beginning to like you?

unfortunately, i agree with you on this one but before i give it a complete Nod, i will like to assume that Nigeria though a ''failed'' one is still a sovereign nation
if i am right, then accept my regrets that neither Asaba nor Porthacourt or any other place in the Delta including where i come from was not officially recognized as the National capital.
i will like you to ponder over this;
though Texas has a broad transport network,a broad social
infrastructure, houses most of the big companies in the states, Enjoys the second best in GDP state wise in the united states, will You say that Texas is better off than Washington in whichever yardstick u deem necessary, just a food for thought.
the rest of the other underlined words will be better treated under the same canopy of resource control because i feel they are interconnected.
You clamor for a larger share of the oil Revenue,
if you ask me, to be honest with you, i think you are right.
come to think of it, the Delta bear most of the environmental and biological risk in oil exploration.
but if i were you i will ask a question further, How best do i achieve this?
lets analyze the facts on ground before we go into the prejudiced, phantom theory that supports your cause.
i still remember vividly that after the military era, and prior to the April 5th 2002 supreme court ruling on resource control,the formula has been as follows;

74.3: 18.1: 7.6 percentage split between the federal, states and the local Governments exclusive
of the Almighty 13% Revenue allocation. please correct me if i am wrong
74.3% of the federal bearing the ''first charges'' and ''special funds''
in other words i expect that each oil producing state enjoyed this privilege for approx. four and
half years.
Now MEND, lets come back to today's events
as a result of the supreme court ruling of April 2002, the formula has changed from the above to
49.1: 30.0 : 20.8 Federal, state and local governments percentage split respectively. exclusive of the Almighty 13% Revenue allocation on the grounds that ''first charges'' and ''special funds'' are
illegal.(not putting into cognizance Obasanjo's dementia of 2005)
please still correct me if i am wrong
though i have my personal reservations, the onshore/offshore dichotomy which severed Akwaibom and Ondo states also the issue of recognizing the FCT as a state, but i still think that the other oil producing states got a fair deal compared to their contiguous states like Anambra and Enugu respectively in terms of oil Revenue.
MEND, i still wish to remind you here that using the word ''fair deal'' above cannot be misconstrued owing to the fact that some states though not oil producing generate high on internal revenue but they are not complaining whether or not they receive whatever extra percentage.
FIRS Lagos State can tell you more.
I cant really, imagine that people still wake up without plans,
is this sham you call revolution? you think this was how America got their independence from the British, or you think the french revolution, the franco prussian wars, the Spanish civil war and other wars that redefined the human race which ushered in human liberation from imperialism and hegemony.
you guys make me laugh,
MEND, U started by kidnapping expertrates which of course was the preamble to be able to raise funds to buy arms for the real struggle ahead.
interesting plan,
they paid their Ransom gained their freedom some unhurt and arm proliferation became your other hobby, please still correct me if i am wrong
today, you have succeeded in laying siege to the delta that you intended to liberate abinitio
let me tell you the ripple effect of your struggle,
Go to warri for instance,
the companies have left, job cuts by more than 60%, plethora of unemployed youths, even if they were not paid well abinitio is not comparable to the Anguish they are facing now
your ijaw brothers that are landlords have slashed rents to ridiculous rates to lure imaginary tenants, these buildings i remember were their Gratuity and payoffs by the same companies you despise.
today they have lost their only source of livelihood thanks to your struggle

lets talk about your people in the creeks
for every pipeline you blow, that is more than 12'' carries hundreds of thousands barrell of crude depending on the flow station, this you release into the same Eco system you wish to salvage, aquatic lives are compromised and our health suffer.

MEND, do you still see those leafy fresh fruits u enjoyed in the delta in the 80's?
your struggle has forced them to extinction unfortunately, you don't even miss them, or you think shell's pollution caused it?
of course that is a good line of defense if you ask me.

lets talk about the Garden city
PH is now a mini barracks where every junction is a military parade, where military siren has taken over the squeaks from the humming birds in the city we used to know.
insecurity has forced even the beggars to hiding talk more of potential investors,
how do you expect the malls to be built, the exotic restaurants and admirable edifice that you dream befitting for the garden city
who will build them?
the expatriate you have all kidnapped?
MEND, when last did you price a fresh fish in the portharcourt market?
are you surprised the prices are exorbitant and they look shabby?
the reason is because your boys are holding siege at the water ways that the farmers prefer to consume their products at home and stay alive than crossing over to risk their life bringing it to
portharcourt,
and the shabbiness is a fall out of the fact that the desperate ones raise fishes in contaminated local ponds and bring it to the market for your people to consume unlike the ones raised in their
Natural Aquatic Microcosm or should i just say that they have been
poisoned.
I am sure your feasibility studies never highlighted these at the planning stage of the struggle.
Lets talk about the indigenous companies owned by your people
MEND, do you know how many Oil servicing companies you have sent packing as a result of your struggle?
some Multinationals that can migrate to another country and continue from where they stopped while some are indigenous owned by your people that can barely maintain a permanent residence in PH Let alone paying off staffs.
Can you imagine how many families most of them laid off staffs from producing companies and others from bankrupt servicing companies that curse you day and night in their prayers for hanging them on the brink of economic quagmire
Doesn't it bother you that porthacourt has copious taxi drivers these days or you think is still
about the bike?
my dear, they are desperate fathers you took away their means of livelihood
several companies in PH can hardly pay existing staff Let alone creating jobs thanks to your struggle.
at the demise of ph and warri, lagos is taking the credence.the west is booming their economy
is stronger than all the ijaw states put together.
Have you bothered to find out where the problem of the delta lies?
you ask for more wealth, yet the ones you were given fell into wrong hands and you are not bothered to seek justice,
hurricane moses, (if you will permit me to borrow your terminology) let me remind you that in the history of this country, no ex or seating politician has stolen more money than your brothers Ibori, peter odili,Alams, lucky igbinedion and co in this democratic dispensation. are they not your
brothers, now tell me who is marginalizing you?
Ibori and co or the Government of the day?another food for thought

I am really sorry for these ignoramus that think that you are fighting a just cause, to be honest, its obvious these people don't have the least inkling of what is happening in the oil and Gas industry.
people are loosing their jobs everyday, shell lays off contract staffs like nobody's business likewise other producing companies,
do you blame them? they are low on production, financial meltdown and crude prices are not helping matters, companies are packing up, families are suffering. Are you fighting for us or are you fighting us?
people are suffering and you call this revolution.
How more foolish can you be, the corrupt politicians that have your money are walking about the streets of Abuja and you Kidnap expertrates that repair your roads.
i don't just get it.
maybe some fools will tell me its a price that must be paid or perhaps a collateral damage that is necessary,
to me this one is unnecessary may your names (gbomo jomo and co) not sing the villain song for generations to come,
borrow a leaf from ken sarowiwa and pray that you don't end up like napoleon Bonaparte and his cohort Adolf Hitler at least he got a pint of dignity by taking his own life
i am not sure if you will be man enough to take your own life on the day of reckoning and not sing a new song of Amnesty like your Oga Henry okah
we have seen a lot of people like you both home and abroad, and to be honest, your likes always fail.
Do not be like my brother Emeka ojukwu who after serving as a colonel in the Nigerian Army and as a governor in the eastern region, knowing fully well the military capabilities of eastern Nigeria thinks that challenging his God to a dual was a better option than calling for super powers to back his Aburi conference or someother diplomatic means,
in the end, cowardice was still the case, he left with the last plane from uli airport
(a remote improvised airport in one of Anambra's suburbs)to reunite with
his father's friends and classmates in ivory coast when my father and my brothers were butchered in droves.
tell me is ojukwu better than Zik,Awolowo et al who took the path of diplomacy?
they are the real heroes and everyone knows that.
in the end his Nnewi sychophants gave him Ikemba for taking their lives and wasting their future
i put it to Ikemba that what his father achieved peacefully he can never achieve even in death,
the shell, the ACB and so many other investments and recognition the world over. And here is his sanguinary son wasting lives.
till today, have the igbos been liberated? Have the igbos had a steady senate president let alone smell Aso Rock, or he is waiting for another black president to rule America before he realises how much he has failed his people.
did we not all start life with 20pounds amidst dilapidated infrastructure and brazen war psychology.
look at where the yorubas are
coupled with our doggedness can you imagine where we could have been without this war?
make no mistakes MEND when the time comes, people will stand up against your animosity ,your people that you have poisoned their waters and taken their jobs might not be that generous to
give you an IKEMBA so in your interest, sheathe your sword

I wonder how much it will cost to dualize the East west road if and only if the hurricane will be targeted to the likes of Olabode george,Atiku Abubakar etc.
I will Advise Mend to form an Anti corruption millitia, that will ensure zero tolerance for corruption, i bet you that The Niger delta will be liberated even with the oil companies existing.Hunt these lunatics in power, pull down their empire, kidnap them, Recover the money then Use it to dualize East west road.
Every ND politician will have fear, Use your supremacy and install fear in these bastards and everyone will champion your cause.
Dont bother about where you will get your funding, these companies that you will soar their profits in the long run will support you, the world in diaspora will support you also well meaning Nigerians will fund you.

Make no Mistakes, the benefits of a corrupt free Nigeria Can never be undermined

lest i forget, Intels owned majorly by Atiku is a great beneficiary of his self championed ports concession. he almost took over a province in the niger delta and beyond talking about Onne and Calabar ports without due process, yet the logistics dat will cripple such corruption proceed is minimal yet Mend looks the other way.

I have another simple question for you. At the time the militants drastically reduced Nigeria's oil output, did your life change? No, it didn't. The obvious reason is that proceeds from oil go directly into Hausa/Fulani cabal pockets, it doesn't change the economy one bit; they only manage to leave a little for the import of innadequate quantities of fuel, which see's you clamouring overnight at a filling station just to get a little juice in the tank. Hilary Clinton put it very accurately when she said that only 1% of Nigeria's population benefits from oil and that it is a pity that foreigners know more about Nigeria than Nigerians.
It is high time, we as Nigerians sat down and did some really hard thinking.
I never knew a Nigerian has lived so blindly?
did you really ask this question?
Gosh you need ,
Politics › Re: Militants Destroy Shell Facility In Rivers by jpphilips(m): 5:13pm On Feb 22, 2010
For your information, Soyinka was on the side of sensible reasoning, that was why he decided to join the Aaron team. He did not join because he supported the blowing up of flow stations and pipelines which would further pollute the already polluted land and impoverish the people. Rather, he was sympathetic to the plights of the people and he decided to infuse intellectualism (which was obviously lacking) into the struggle.
Actually, he said himself he was there as an observer to ensure both parties kept their ends of the bargain.
Politics › Re: Militants Destroy Shell Facility In Rivers by jpphilips(m): 5:04pm On Feb 22, 2010
Until these militants learn to use their brains to think, they and all those that support their actions blindly (including those here on NL) will remain FOOLS.

Is it the defenseless pipelines they keep blowing up that are responsible for the problems of the Niger-Delta?
or
Is it the corrupt Nigerian Govt (which includes the Niger-Delta leaders)?

Isn't it high time these militants and 'so called' freedom fighters face the REAL ENEMY?

The Oil companies tap the wealth of the region (which the Nigerian state cannot tap) and the corrupt Nigerian Govt which is controlled by a Northern cabal) takes the proceeds and shares it amongst its officials. Next thing we hear is "Our gallant Fighters/Warlords have carried out a strategic attack on an oil pipeline belonging to Shell," how dumb? What is strategic about the strike?

With the recent political brouhaha caused by Yaradua's absence, the North has made a clear unequivocal statement that the "south south is only good at producing Oil and should not think of smelling the presidency (even when constitutionally, the south south should be president)." What is the reaction of the Militants/Nigerdelta saviors/freedom fighters to this insult? they go and blow up shell pipeline.

Isn't it high it high time they wake up from their slumber?

I liken the Niger Delta case to the case of a farmer who has yams in his barn but is incapable of cooking them. A shrewd neighbour comes and offers to cook the yams on the condition that he gets some and an agreement is reached on how the cooked yams are to be shared. A major point in the agreement is that the Landlord of the Farmer would also receive a share JUST because he is the Landlord.

When the yams get ready, the Landlord greedily collects his share and the share of the farmer and feasts on them with his friends in the full glare of the farmer while the farmer goes hungry. Whenever the farmer tries to complain, he is being molested and asked to shut-up for being too greedy. This arrangement has continued for years but now the farmer has decided to fight back. He acquires sophisticated arms and begins to fight the neighbour who cooks the yams. In the process, he destroys most of the yams and also, hurts the neighbour. The rationale behind his strategy is that "IF THE NEIGHBOUR DOESN'T COOK THE YAMS, THE LANDLORD WOULDN'T HAVE ANY TO STEAL."

Mean no offense but may i ask you what you really think your father owes you in life?
These insinuations of yours above is evident why civilized kids are better off than their African contemporaries.
Truth be told, most African kids esp, naija kids always think that sticking your proboscis into the family treasury makes you a better person,
you may even have had your basic education, had a lot of things at your disposal to carve a niche of survival for yourself and you still stick with your family.

I think the African society really overrate family and its ties, let me remind you that you are a stranger from nowhere, you bear that End name simply by accident or more leniently put, virtue of circumstances of birth in other words you could ave been someone elses' daughter and so on.

I am not saying that your POP's irresponsibility aint appalling but the reality is simple, it is NOT your problem but your MOM's.
You could have been in qatar or anyother part of the world living an independent life, suppose that was the case, how could you have interfered?

So my dear, broaden your horizon of survival and stay away from family crap,

An uncle of mine used to tell his kids that he is not investing in them, that he is giving them the basic things of life out of his own magnanimity,in other words, if he doesnt, you cant take him to court.
he will make them understand that he had a career which accrues pension, also landed properties that accrues rent so he will never depend on them till death,

He doesn't give you the next years school fees if the previous report doesn't impress him and when he sticks  to his gun,it will be easier for two bulls to pull down the statue of liberty than get his parish priest to sway him.

Today those kids are seriously made, they took risks, most of them traveled out, two of them you may know cos their investments are popular in Naija.

then, people where thinking their popsy was the meanest man in my community, but those guys sang a song of success simply because the bell of independence started from home.

Its no longer news these days for parents to take an 18yr old man to JAMB exam hall, sit beside him with cooller full of drinks and food, pay a mercenery that will help him pass, When someone like my late Uncle will give his 10yr old son transport fee and a road map and send him from Enugu to Lagos to write Entrance Exam.

Truth be told, you are not perturbed because you care, you are simply because your proboscis aint sucking nothing which i term selfish interest, i may sympathize with you if you are a minor and some basis of independence is off your limit then, you may say the family resources is lean but i just have one Advise for you,

Always see your house as a transit camp, dream, look inwards, discover your talent, use little or no family support to stand on your own, and give your family a break.

How old was lil bow wow when he could afford a house of his own, same goes for, chris brown, fabulous,Rhianna, wayne rooney,Anderson the count is endless and even some Naija guys too.

Rem. if you were independent, you wont have any reservations telling your MUM but oh!!! i forgot, you wont get your school fees next semester grin grin grin grin

In the End the reality always out weighs the sentiments
yes i agree that gone are the days when you get a job in an Italian firm and "zoom" you are in Milan the next morning, same for Aberdeen, Houston Texas et al
on various training courses.

like someone mentioned abinitio, it is no longer in their interest doing so, one funny thing about the white collar job is that the employer and his employees know that the job is not a big deal only that it just has to be done.
Most of them Range from keying figures in a system to monitoring flow processes (both human and materials) which of course with the Appropriate training, a cheaper labor far less in Academic status can deliver.

Perhaps the strategy of marking out the social contract is cost effective in the short run but who thinks about the long run?

Take the Big coys for instance, every dept is corrupt
You have a staff who earns less than 400k a month driving cars of above 10m and having properties worth over 100m within a year of resuming duty
and the big question remains where is the big bucks coming from? you but indirectly,

Your procurement Manager goes shopping strikes a deal with the supplier who comes with a bloated invoice to him for approval, in the end the cash is split, your job is done and everybody is happy (I guess you saved money)

Your contract department screens not just competent coys to do a job but also ones that are PR worthy, they collect hell of bribes that compromises safety and professionalism.

Your HR department collects as little as 50k for interested losers to try out your Standardization tests, collect as much as 500k to give your jobs to people that don't deserve it, cos when you need the verification to be done, you send these same people who can cover up these sins
Hence you have project Engrs that cant make a simple correct sentence let alone their Project Execution Plans that are full of Grammatical and technical errors ( guess you are saving cost)

I almost felt sorry for people talking about competition, in Naija? you must be kidding me, the competition pays the same staff that you failed to take care of, its simple
A list of bid is opened for a job, competing coys apply and what next?
you appoint credible staff for inspection and approval
they go out there collect money from the highest bidder end of story.

Now the big question is what has it Got to do with Social contract?

From my experience in the labour Market, ive come to realise and unequivocably accept that 85% of Nigerian work force hardly consider what they stand to loose except what is in it for them?
Ironically, there is absolute nothing to loose cos the employer is busy cutting cost.

I once Met a business development Manager of a very reputable firm, who once told me how he transfers jobs meant for his employer to others for a fee.
He told me that his salary cannot pay for his daughters fees in the UK let alone feed his family,He equally lamented that as a contract staff nobody knows tomorrow, to him your job today as an employer is your employee's rainy day then i asked in my mind what if the coy what footing that bill?,what if his job is secured?
I still understand that human wants are insatiable but then, when you put your employee in a position where he weighs out his options , using your social contract as a mean then you hear words like "WHAT IF I LOOSE MY JOB"

Gone are the days when you have company staff kids and employees raising their shoulders in pride working for most coys,
The funniest part is that before they are caught, they already have an investment else where that profit more than your job, then he plays truancy and wishes you fired him.

About training, i once argued with a former employer of mine who thinks that training and other benefits is a waste of money, i asked him y someone he spends so much to train will want to leave him, and he said greed.

you pay him peanuts while he makes a lot, you train him to make more yet no promotion and you call it greed?
an employee is leaving because of what he gets from you in contrast to the offers he is getting elsewhere also an Employee is corrupt simply because your job aint got value to him afterall, he lives in a house of his own, drives his own car,Pays his kids tuition, secretly has an investment that acrues more than you pay him.

The bottom line is evading the social contract debases your job in the eye of you employee, which breeds corruption and disloyalty in the long run.
As an employer, you either design your remuneration structure to worth something or your employee will use your investment as a Transit camp.

It baffles me how Nigerians think sometimes,
I hardly can believe that people in their correct senses will be eulogizing this farce called super Eagles.
has anyone bothered to ask where NFF gets these their players from?
All we see at the wake of a tournament are people from nowhere, even if they are fortunate to be playing in foreign leagues are we really saying they are the best in a country as populous as Nigeria?
NFF are indirectly displaying to the whole world their lack of ingenuity and corruption, instead of throwing stones at that glass house we re here clapping for winning Zambia with a quarter of our population after 120 mins regulation time.

Tell me, is there any person that did secondary or primary school in Naija dat will tell You he never met an outstanding football player during their time?
in the End, they never make it to the national team, simply because NFF has no plan of getting them.
common sense should tell NFF that for a country as big as Nigeria, that geniuses abounds.
Take US for instance, if Olympics knocks on their door, they bless u with lakers and co, same goes for other sports like swimming, tennis etc
Talk abt the SA cricket team etc.
I thought FASH could have turned things around for Nigerians
I really don't see why NFF cannot budget 5m naira a year for a football contest per state.
We are talking about 180m and perhaps another 50m for sundry fees. Each state ministry of sports split the money, into Zones comprising abt 5 to 6 LGAs, each getting about 300k for instance, i bet you that these small boys will kill for it.
The money is gonna be shared in a way that each LGA winner contest Among themselves till the state level which will be abt 1m price money contributed by each participating team just to ensure the trophy is worth close to 5m in all.
during the various contests, the NFF sends a team of judges that will pick players
You cant tell me that in the End we wont have a team better than these national disgrace.
I am very optimistic on this cos i can still recall that in my community old men still kill themselves on football conquest for 500k price money during Xmas
At least with a good squad and a confused coach, Naija will go places.

Do these government office holders have plans at all?
