@ Ranosky

The Scenarios are entirely different, yours is called INSTINCT but his is called PARANOIA
personally, i don't joke with my dad's instinct because it has saved me a lot of troubles.
but when he talks he gives you the pointing arrows and buttress it with previous examples. as an old man, u will really appreciate he knows and have seen more than you.
but i cant imagine him calling me to tell me about one man that appeared in a dream with torch light and naked goat. i will quickly divert the call to a psychiatric doctor.
Education › Re: Industrial Chemistry Vs Chemical Engineering by jpphilips(m): 8:39am On Oct 22, 2010
It is quite disheartening that there is a wide gap between the labor market and the Academic environment. I think that was the essence of Industrial training but even at that, i don't think it is enough and the kind of lies teachers feed their students to make them passionate about their courses are alarming.
first ask yourself, what does a chemical Engr do and what does an industrial chemist do?

A chem engr is basically a process Administrator while an industrial chemist is a QA/QC (Quality assurance and control) administrator both of them are two different jobs but share somethings in common. if you want me to be honest, for the sectors i am familiar with (manufacturing, oil and gas etc) a chemical engr earns more than the ICH guy any day anytime.

Now let me paint a life scenario.

If you are employed as an Industrial chemist, your work is in the LAB, your duty is to be taking samples from a manufacturing plant for instance, analyzing them and send it to the chemical Engr. the kind of tests you will be running are tests you will be thought in your second year called analytical chemistry (so don't you ever fail that course you career depends on it).
for the fact that you report to the CHEM guy makes him your boss, his job as a process man is to study the feasibility of the reaction processes you are running and ensure that production is not compromised while the ICH guy is his floor man that runs around the plant.
then you hear him saying stuffs like change power source to achieve this, ,create an adiabatic state for so so so thing, , maintain teperature for so sos o thing etc.the production plan is not with QA/QC but the chem. guy.
bottom line he designs or manages an already designed manufacturing process to ensure production while his ICH lab guy gives him results of the progress so far.
now, in Nigeria some roles swap, they may not be able to afford a chem Engr then they use an ICH guy as the process man but the chem guy does not usually do the analytical jobs.

In oil and gas the Chem Engrs are still the process guys designs and manages oil production strategies, operations like well enhancing, well shut in, programmatic s,designs, etc they are all there but the ICH guys in oil and gas are mostly at the terminals (depending on the operation of the coy) where they test and treat oil before they are sold. that notwithstanding, there are lots of operations in oil and gas where the both can fit in. some use both of them together, operations like Drilling mud engineering, well dynamics, waste management, effluent management,NDT, corrosion control, pipelines (pigging debris analysis) etc.

Most times in manufacture/production, the chem guy does procurement and they make extra box depending on the company. it just depends on the structure you meet with your employer.

don't be deceived with those self employment bullshit, at that level, it is only the capital that matters, your teachers are just giving you gist for you to develop interest, anybody can be anything with the right capital.

furthermore, the process aspect of Chem Engineering has been inculcated into the pure chemistry curriculum in most Naija universities. so if i were you i will find a UNI that does Pure and industrial chemistry as combined honors just like Mechanical and Production as combined honors
that will make you a better competitor with the CHEM guy because you know both process and analytical while he dusts you with Engineering drawing. in that case, a smart employer can give you his job. truth be told, in Naija there are no systems to design except to manage the existing ones. The big design jobs are subcontracted abroad while we do the simple ones in most cases.

Perception wise, the Engr is always more reputable in fact, in the oil and gas where Engineering firms abound there are positions that they hardly give to scientists especially when they have an Engr in that field. but u know Naija it all depends on the coy and your contacts. it doesn't stand as a law but most times they observe it.

My candid advise go for CHEM Engine,if you have opportunity for PICH OK but please stay away from stereo chemistry and physical chemistry unless you want to Lecture. ( na only periodic table, metals and their compounds they know) though it hardly counts in Naija. a chemistry only graduate can get a job in a coy where he is trained to be doing Chem Engr. job or ICH job. it depends but i always prefer the PICH guys and chem guys to them.

though i still think the most lucrative engineering in Naija are

EEE  (my favorite) those guys know too much,so much technology
Mechanical ( equipment wizards, dey get job reach hospital self)
chem can come a par with Petroleum depending on the country, if you don't have oil Sorry for petroleum

sciences can come later
that's my opinion other sectors may have more need for scientists like geologists (seismic guys i like them),physics (NDT guys) and perhaps Economics etc but they cant do without their equipments (mechanical) and electronics.

But ironically, Administration decides the faith of the Engrs and scientists that you will never be told in a science class grin grin grin grin

hope this will help

My brother, the Bible says obey your mother and your father so that your days may be long on eath which Him (God) has giving unto you, this is the only commandment with  promise, fine and good, but not when your parents ask u to do what is not right, Bible says, He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtainet favour from the Lord, what i will advice u to is this, talk to your heavenly father whos everything is in His hand, the heart kings and the heart of man is in His hand, tell Him to change the heart of your mother He is able to do more than what we ask for, as for going to T.B Joshua or C.B David, is not the issue u have more than what they have, tell your self i can pray my way out, u are a prophet, a choosen nation, a peculiar one, challenge your God for He said put me to test and see if i will not open the windows of heaven and pour out my blessing, He said again, cast your burden upon me for i care for it. what more do u want, He is intrested in this your situation, try it and see that our Lord is able to do all things.

not that after eating the Jomi-Jomi, u will come and tell her, my dear i'm very sorry, we cannot marry each other b/c my mother said, said, she will disown me if i marry you, nonsens, where where your mother since two yrs u people where together, think about it if your where on her shoe, can u wear this painful shoe?.
I appreciate the first and the last paragraph of your post and I am a strong advocate of equity and fairness. Every human being has a right to be treated fairly. She was with him during the tides as such deserves to be his wife.
on the bold parts;
you are very right. God is asking you to respect their opinions. but not when those opinions are coerced or influenced by some monster visions.
i don't want to believe he respects his mother's opinion even in her orgasmic stupor and liquor influenced hallucinations.
u guys make me laugh.
She wants to deceive you and give you a girl wey no even know when you dey trek from orile to ketu, when the poor girl dey borrow you money make u take drink beer pose small for your friends because things no straight for you, How do you ever think in your infinite wisdom that God will want your fiancee to suffer? which 419 God be that?
perhaps because she don go make deal with one woman wey her daughter has been a recurring decimal in the heartbreak market in the name of sisters fellowship or mothers union.
she must show you a playback of that vision else, nonsense. well, u be good boy shaa if i were in your shoes the next time she will see me is on the 6th birth day of my 4th child.

Actually, it wasn’t part of my dreams. But this is fate at work again. Actually, where most people are in life is not where they planned to be. What I know is that whatever fate thrusts upon your life, you have to make the best use of it. It is not as if I actually wanted to be a second wife and all that, but when I met him, I fell in love with him because he is really my dream man.

We have been together for almost two years now. In the course of our relationship she has proven to be very virtuous, faithful and true to the relationship. Though i met her while she was in her final year in school and i was working, she encouraged me not to sit in my comfort zone.

With her prompting and sheer grit, i sought for and got a study leave to proceed for my masters at the University which was quite expensive. Though i sponsored myself with my savings and goodwill, she supported me through and through in her own way. Not only this, she never wavered all through this time and practically committed all of her to me and my cause., my dreams and aspirations.

In the course of all of this, i introduced her to my mom who welcomed her at first. It however became another issue when i told my mom i intend marrying her immediately after my programme. Few days after informing her, she called me and told me i should forget it that the lady is not my wife. She based her decision on some "prayers" she had and spiritual inquiries she made which she has refused to give me details. I have tried all i could including pleading with her all to no avail.

Personally, i am a christian and i believe in the efficacy of prayers so i told her whatever she was told could be taken care of with prayers but she was and still is resolute!

At a point owing to some misdemeanors on my lady's path ( not infidelity) and the constant pressure from home to look elsewhere,i almost got involved with a colleague but i soon called it off since i want to remain true to my promises to my fiancee. I in fact told this my colleague my reasons.

Now, i am done with my programme and i really want to settle down. I have come to love this lady in spite of our mutual failings and misunderstandings. I am convinced she is a great lady (okay, she has her little woman's attitude) and seriously complement me.

I have made this known to my mom and she once again has bluntly refused. I love my mom and i really would want her to love this young lady like her own daughter. She even went to the extent of sending the lady a text to leave me alone and never look forward to her as a mother in law,

My fiancee  to the best of my knowledge wants my family and said she will do all in her capacity to make peace, i really don't want to lose her,

Please help here,

frankly your mum has proved to be smarter than you. truth is, she doesn't like the girl. she just gave it a nod abinitio thinking its one of those guys things but when she saw things were different she re strategized.
she knows you are religious and she is scoping you with what you believe in. she already has a candidate in the waiting that she wants you to marry.

try this, tell her you have broken up with the girl and don't mention any word of her to your Mom, then tell her you cant find any other person that she should help i can bet that in less than a week she must call you to meet someone.

this religious cage is really setting us back.
what a lot of people don't know is that our mothers are still human beings and they feel whatever every human being feels. I have a friend back in the days that his Mom tells him she loves him more than their Dad being an only child, yes, seriously. there is no place her mom doesn't take him to, salon, women fellowship just name it.
Everybody likes him because he is very funny and generous. so on his 18th birthday the Mum bought him a car, so the car became his biggest treasure, then in college, only a few people have ride so the guy no dey take the ride play.
conversely, he stays less at home and has many friends the mum became worried and gave all of us visiting time table. her only fear was loosing her baby handbag that makes her happy.
She knew she cant sway him with food or anything so what she does is just to comeback in the afternoon and tell my man that armed robbers snatched someone's car in town. My man will just park for a month and so the lies continued and the Mum became happy. funny enough the woman will tell him it is a blue cressida to match his spec.lol
The guy is married twice now and still single. the last i saw him i didn't want to ask what happened cos i already know that no reasonable woman will condone his mum's excesses.

Do you ever wonder why pastors like chris okotie still have church members after seeing vision where he is sleeping in Aso rock as painted by his God? is it not the same Kwashiokor eye he is using to see vision for his church members? Is he now saying that as a professional man of God, he cant even interpret visions.
Your fiance has built a world around you so in all fairness go ahead and marry her. i am not saying you owe anybody but even the bible you believe in tells you that she has sown in your life so do not let your Mum's paranoia take away her Harvest.

Romance › Re: How Should Men Overcome Womanizing? by jpphilips(m): 9:06pm On Oct 19, 2010
Advising on womanizing is like Asking why Naija is not like America, personally, the question i ask is when will Nigerians deserve to have a Naija like America?
remember it wasn't the case in the days of our mothers, I am sure that the 53% failed marriage stat in America today was not the case in the 70's.
the question we should ask is where have we got it wrong?
In as much as different schools of thought are entitled to their observances and opinions, i strongly believe infidelity is a curse our women placed on us, it can be likened to the trait of bald hair and GONO, they carry it about but they don't get the negative effect immediately.
Let us now ask a more realistic question; how many girls deserve a faithful guy?
it is not uncommon to see these married ladies crowding different church programs because as married women, they can no
longer define their social circle beyond the contemporary societal norm. and for a religious manackled society like Naija you cant get otherwise.
believe me, if you peer into the antecedents of those women a decade ago, you weep for Jerusalem, they have committed loads of atrocities.

Today's adultery is just the law of karma catching up with those women. Today sleeping with a married man is no longer a taboo unlike back in the days of our mothers.same can be likened to the unmarried who have failed to look beyond their nose and embrace reality in their decision making process are equally blessed with those kind of men.
bottom line, women that deserve faithful men have them in abundance while the ones that don't are simply reaping the fruit of their labor.
no sympathy or prayer can change that,
Don't be surprised that most men that womanize have better wives at home. I have never gotten a reasonable answer from any womanizer as to reasons why he womanizes, the last i heard was, "I have a lot of seed so i need to throw it around" then i started wondering what happened to the toilet, that goes a long way to tell you that they cannot define their actions.

Only a few guys are vindictive with womanizing perhaps they never had their type of girl at the lowest of their lows so when they meet up, they want to pay them back for all the Embarrassments and rejections he suffered in the past.
so ladies continue poking around and expect  your husbands to be St peter.

Use my formula,if you know that kinda man, first check the wife's past, then check if the guy was in deprivation during his hay days u can never be far from the truth.

@the hurray poster,
what exactly are u celebrating? i feel very sick to see nigerians celebrating anything and everything.
50 yrs after independence, we still have to depend on this same uk to catch those who steal from our country, we still depend on uk to steal our own resources, we still depend on uk to know the details of bombs that exploded in abuja. what is the essence of independence if you are born to be dependent?
what exactly are we doing right on our own as a country? how many iboris are living right here in nigeria without stress?
if ribadu as an individual cld tell the nigerian police and the nigerian judiciary to go to hell and nothing happened then ibori shld have remained here and used his last resources to fight these terroriists at aso rock.
you shld be worried of how mant times u have celebrated this kind of situations and how far did it go in changing the lives of common nigerians.
why are u not worried abt our judiciary system that cld only jail bode george for 2 yrs over the stealing of over N100b belonging to nigeria and nigerians? i know that as a celebrant, u celebrated the six months jail term of a woman that stole over N195b from just one bank?
well, is not your fault because we lack good reasons to celebrate hence the need to celebrate anything available. no wonder the most exciting testimonies in our churches today are, visa at last, multi-visa for my family, 2 yrs visa to gabon, 8 yrs visa to congo, after many refusals, the my son was finally issued a residential visa in benin republic. bro, do u know of any normal person who celebrates his escape from his own country even when there is no war?
I think i concur completely with your post but the Emboldened part undecided undecided undecided

Phones › Re: Nigeria Threatens To Shut Down Telecom Operators Breaking Rules by jpphilips(m): 5:17pm On Jun 28, 2010
I wonder why people see this as a waste of time: Its a great idea wether other countries do it or NOT:
your opinion doesn't reflect the reality on ground in Nigeria

When you car is stolen what do you do??: simply report a missing phone once it gets missing else you face the consequences
perhaps you have not bothered to find out y The operators rescinded on asking subscribers to get police extract, court affidavits, sim packs etc when it was still the norm to be able to retrieve their lines, when stolen

That should not be your problem son!! At least you'll have to work harder to commit crime: If the database is made available to the police and you find yourself in any wahala i pray you will not forget your phone is an ID card??
Did i hear you say database?, by whom? MTN and co will set up such infrastructure for a lazy government like ours, Oga no vex ooo, who bears the running cost? abi MTN follow you dey fight crime?

you think to maintain a referral database is like hanging a calender on the wall, u gotta be kidding me let me tell you how this thing will play out, NCC on the pretext of maintaining a ''National Telecommunication Database'' will start asking for more funding, the Government gets tired because it will open a hell of windows for looting, the project is abandoned just like any other senseless government project

Oga pls let me ask you a simple question; How much do you think that banks in Nigeria spend annually to be able to run their data bases to enable you withdraw from anybranch at anytime including ATMs?

pls make some research and come back
Naija wey no get light you dey find data base grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Before you know it another federal portfolio will be created ''FEDRAL LAISON WITH TELECOM OPERATORS'' from there money go dey go.

Even if they succeed in collating the data with the help of the telecom operators and a CID in Owerri calls the ''National Telecommunication Database'' (NTD) that he needs phone records for his investigation what do you think the answer will be? liken it to when you call the police to inform them that thieves are in your house RUBBISH.

Am sorry your grandmother might just loose her phone, BTW: there are no ques now, i'll advice you go tomoro.
Later MTN will fashion the procedure in a way that will suite their interest abi u think say dey come Naija to catch pigeon and kidnappers

Government officials are not monitoring your call always except you give them a reason to, corrupt or no corrupt who says they are not monitoring it NOW?? and they'll still need a warrant, The telecom operators are still binded by a privacy act,

Whatever i think it a step i the right direction, If it were implemented since kidnapping wldn't have been this easy,
You must be living in Ghana, a freaking contract staff with one of the operators has bragged to me and some friends that so long as we have had dealings with CS that he can comfortably extract our numbers within days.
Did i hear you say warrant in Naija? where police they use leg burst person house Arrest papa, Arrest Mama kidnap pikin just for crime wey dia inlaw commit simply because the inlaw registered their family as next of kin
you are seriously not a Nigerian.

One phone call one governor don intimidate the person in charge and next na political assassination you go hear, rule of law wey don die with yaradua.

Whatever i think it a step i the right direction, If it were implemented since kidnapping wldn't have been this easy,
Oga before you start jubilating, please ensure your last employer is no longer angry with you cos your new address is just a phone call away thanks to Dora and her political fish brain

Before Nigeria will dream of a Database of such, some minor steps have to be accomplished

We must enact strict Privacy laws, even if we have, it should be amended to suit this particular purpose

We must Tame our police: yes we must tame them such that if there is a breach in any of the privacy guidelines, it will behoove a particular sanction, and when tamed we can atleast guarantee implementation

Most importantly, we must have constant electricity; this will ensure that the data base is up and running without stories,
Take a trip to our fedral and state secretariats, directors dey blow hand fan where heat wan kill them, na dem go dey manage database for you.

E BE LIKE SAY DORA DON DEY SMOKE WEED

we seriously need prayers in this country the way our leaders misplace dia priorities

Honestly speaking,i thought the law of extinction has caught up with your likes
you sincerely believe that if your gas pedal got stuck under a floor mat you crash? how did you get ur driver's licence? your reflex if you had one will easily take care of that a more realistic person would have thought that the govt has the resources to set up that site to make their deception more convincing, ask yourself; what will it take to put up this crap you are pasting?
continue beliving a Govt. dat wil one day tell u that you have three balls even when you ve had two all your life grin grin grin

it pains me when seemingly learned people choose to talk like this. we are talking about a safety risk that has sent many innocent drivers to their untimely death and here we are talking of 'conspiracy'?! well, i bet those unfortunate victims will be turning in their graves right now while we sit here trivialising what sent them away before their time! Angry
it is obvious you are a true American, your Government is manipulative and one of their weapons is FEAR
The govt. shouts; here is Alqueda we are no longer safe, the average American that believes in the rule of law throws away the constitution and embrace PATRIOT ACT
The govt. shouts toyota has pedal issues; you are no longer safe and everybody goes coco,
that's why they don't joke with their Media
Americans love life so much that safety and security can never be considered even if it is hoax
The earlier you extricate yourself from the clutches of your manipulative Govt. the better for you.
Talking about people in their graves, u make me laugh, GM alone has killed more Americans than Honda,Nissan and Toyota put together, abi you wan add FORD join, dat one for don get private mortuary by now grin grin grin grin
just hold on let me show you from your Govt. database
Politics › Re: Iwu Explodes- Says Only Idiots Expect Miracle From Inec by jpphilips(m): 10:29am On Apr 22, 2010
There is this point we always miss in Iwu's case: firstly he is a single individual and does not possess the omini potent power. Secondly the political system is structurally bad. Thirdly we have a political party (PDP)with the philosophy of "the end justifies the means" and politicians that lack any sense of intergrity and modesty.
I used to see him from the lens of Devil advocate until i witnessed how PDP used the touts in the village to disenfranchised the voters amidst protests from both the officials and other party angents.
We all have a role to play as regards free and fair elections in this country. Iwu is a person and can only rely on the reports of field INEC officials. We can only stop curruption by personally resolving to do what is right and collectively stoping others from doing what is wrong. I am not Iwu's fan either Cool But if our political behaviour, culture and mindset to public offices(elective) is 'reformed', there is little an 'angel' can do to give us a glib of hope
Are you kidding me? Iwu was not asked to perform any miracle but to do an Honest job hope you can spot the difference

PDP could have been very inconsequential in this issue if Iwu is a patriot,
steal ballot boxes, Same for peps that print voters card in their bedrooms, iwu's police makes some arrest and he calls for a rerun without releasing results, PDP will get tired but the Iwu we have is the one that will deliberately omit the names and party logo of other parties and leave that of PDP emboldened.

what you witnessed is junior compared to what is obtainable in the other parts of the country,
A credible Iwu on getting such report or omission of any sort would cancel the election out rightly but the Iwu we know is one that will collect money from them and release the results then the aggrieved party now goes to court tenders the same scenario as evidence and the court calls for a rerun.
We now have a judicial system doing Iwu's job while he sits fat collects bribe and enjoy's good time with his hussy,

Like the previous poster pointed out,a man with integrity no matter how little would have challenged even one of those rulings in a higher court but our Iwu as usual is guilty as charged, by now the PDP would be battling serioujs with court cases from INEC.
lets do away with that MAD MAN
