He was not a sit tight, this was his second term reelection, how is that a sight tight. The president of Mali was not a sit tight, that of Niger was not a sit tight, Burkina Faso was not a sit tight and they were all overthrown. Only the guy in Guinea Conakry was going for a 3rd term against the constitutional 2 terms. The real problem is a bunch of adventurers in uniform who also wanted to be President have nothing to do with sit tight.
Don't mind these dictatorship lovers who say all sorts of lies to justify military coups. The fact is that apart from Gabon, all the recent coups in Africa had nothing to do with sit tight. Some kids in uniform want to be president and can't wait to go through an election, so they just take it.

That'd cost them dearly. They won't try it. There's no benefit for them to derive from that anyway.

I don't care..
Read somewhere that when the Americans and the British were pressuring him to hand over to the APC, they promised to allow him enjoy much visibility when out of office through roles like this.

Essentially, he was promised that he will be allowed to be moving around as "election observer" and "conflict mediator" around Africa, and this made him comfortable enough to hand over the whole country to the janja-we-ed party..

Nigerian rulers see the opportunity of moving around as "elder statesmen" after office as some kind of "glorious ending" to their uncharitable years in office..
This makes no sense. You believe someone gave up the Nigerian presidency for a chance to gallivant around Africa forming statesman?

Thank you.

These VIP's have policemen guarding them and that is why they do not care about the rest of the populace in many cases....as long as they are okay.
Bolded is just funny. This "directive" does not affect politicians. It's rich private citizens and foreign investors who will be affected.

They should go employ private security.

It's a new form of employment as those companies will recruit and find trainers to give proper escorts training to their guards.

And they will likely have to have weapons licensing.

That industry has just got a lifeline.
They don't. Private people aren't allowed to carry firearms in Nigeria. That's why these people are relying on police in the first place.

No, I don't think the law should be changed to allow private citizens to bear arms - we will just be creating new problems.

No, even if gun licensing is going to be brought in, you're still wrong to support this 'immediate' withdrawal because that hasn't been done yet. Thank you.

I'd bet my last buck they've made zero arrangement to protect the affected VIPs. Those who face credible threats among them, those who have to travel to dangerous areas for business, foreign investors and all (the same they say they've been chasing), will likely go to bed exposed this evening. That's governance around here.

They'll still go back though.

Proactive measures should be put in place to stop banditry/terrorism rather than waiting for them to strike first so we can be reactive.

We should be on the offensive rather than defensive.

The part he keeps getting wrong is insisting on negotiating and rehabilitation of the terrorists!
Bolded is the koko. Mr Gumi's approach remains the same: that we negotiate with bandits. And he is wrong. He is wrong because that won't solve the problem. So he is not making sense. Only force (bullets or handcuffs) can stop those guys.

“Our people are living around where they operate. So you can’t just go there,” he noted. “They need to be very careful that in the course of chasing these bandits, they don’t go and bomb innocent Nigerians.”
Once you know there's even one civilian there, you don't bomb. But that doesn't mean you do nothing. Send in ground troops to do the job – with close air support. Stop giving excuses for unseriousness and failure.

Unfortunately, Tinubu is just another politician. Clearly, putting his name on grand projects like Coastal Highway were all that were important. Equipping the security services was far down on the agenda. Because tell me why at least one helicopter wasn't deployed within 1 hr of schoolchildren being kidnapped. Why every police station has not acquired tracking and drone capacity yet.

Listen to yourself, they said , they said
So basically he is a terrorist for possible "incitement" with words ?
While people who shed blood unprovoked are cuddled and granted amnesty?
The same IPOB the rogue Buhari govt proscribed?
A proscription which was ruled as ilegal by the ECOWAS court? and unrecognised anywhere but Nigeria?
Have some humanity and common sense.

The proscription of IPOB was a political tool for weaponising the maximum legal instruments against its members . Not necessarily because of threat of violence posed.
Everybody in the SE rejoiced when Simon Ekpa was arrested, because he was clearly a criminal with political intent , Kanu on the other hand as arrogant as he was never called for the harming of any innocents. A Statement he made severally even when incarcerated.
IPOB existed as a peaceful group from 2012, until Buhari had peaceful protesters shot.
Your post is a bit here and there. But I'll say these.
1. I have not followed Mr Kanu very closely, but I'm aware he was CONVICTED after EVIDENCE was adduced that he led a proscribed group and called for the death of security agents. That's what THEY SAID in court. Evidence was adduced and he was convicted.
2. Security agents behaving badly is a sore point for me. Just this morning, I was telling someone that reported cases (they said) of soldiers killing pro-Biafra protesters should have been taken seriously instead of allowing it to land us in a situation where Obama refused to sell weapons for us.
3. No, I'm not a fan of how Buhari handled things.
5. All forgiveness of "repentant Boko Haram" or bandits stand condemned. I don't support it and they're why we're where we are.
4. If enough evidence was adduced that Mr Kanu incited violence against security agents while making illegal broadcasts, I don't see the basis for comparing him with Mr Gumi, whose idiotic utterances merely amount to cuddling the murderers by words and demanding that we all join him in cuddling them. People have been calling for the release of or pardon or forgiveness or whatever of Mr Kanu, and nobody is fighting them for saying that.

Your response makes no sense. Did you follow Mr Kanu's trial? They said he led a banned group. That is a crime is any country. They also said he called for security agents to be killed. That is a crime too. They said he did a lot of other things, all crime. So try again with your "what about ...."

and late Gen Uba was play with by bandits right, why Sheikh Gumi is still walking freely is the reason people lost trust in the Government approach of combating terrorism
In democratic countries, there's freedom of expression. He can't be arrested if there's no proof he's giving criminals any material help. What ought to happen is he's socially ostracised and his church (abi mosque) people no longer associate with him.

It's a welcome development, I've seen ordinary former chairman governing council of Nigerian university with mobile police escort of about 5, foreigners use & abuse our policemen anyhow as well while the entire community in some places doesn't have a single officer.

So the people these officers were guarding don't need it? They should expose themselves to kidnapping? Oh, I know - they should stay indoors.

Christianity Etc › Re: Does Praying For The Dead Make Them Go To Heaven? by JuanDeDios: 11:13am On Nov 23, 2025
cutecommend:
I tell you the sincerest truth: all those you know who have died are either in heaven or hell. There is no temporary place of repentance people go to when they die, and no prayers can take a dead person who died in sin to heaven.

The best you can offer a person that is about to die is to lead them into accepting Jesus Christ and repenting of their sins. if you have a sick or hospitalized relative, friend, family member or anyone that is about to die, the first thing to do for them is to tell them to accept Jesus Christ and repent of their sins. Praying for them when they are already dead is a very useless prayer.

Today is a beautiful day, it is a time to accept Jesus Christ and repent of all your sins. Again, looking at what is going around, the insecurities etc, it is important to be prepared for eternity.

Hebrew 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement"
Who knows? Those Italian Mafia and Mexican cartel assassins, when they die, their families don't joke with taking their bodies to church for prayers.

I doubt it though.
