This is the fifth age I'm hearing for that Regina. 17 (Regina in recent times), 18 (her cousin), 20 (her mother), 21 (Ned), 19 (someone I can't remember). I've heard all.
erad: It was a military regime, what do you expect?
If you have nothing to do with governance, rebellion or treasonable actions, they had no business with you. Do you even realize how good Libyan economy was?
It was after ghadaffi's death people started realizing they hardly ever saw a Libyan in a foreign country seeking greener pasture. If Libya was that bad, will those traveling for education return? Obama's government infiltrated their academic youths with the woke ideology and those ones just went crazy with it and that's what gave birth to the whole thing.
Now Libya has turned to a third world dealing in slave trade and human trafficking. Such a pity.
When next you want to lick Obama's shoes, remember he brought nothing but destruction to Africa.
When a citizen decides to become a journalist and writes a story the government doesn't like, or becomes an NGO worker and talks about things the government would rather keep quiet, or becomes an activist and protests the mistreatment of minorities - and the government disappears him, is the government justified? Is it justifiable - or the do people then reserve the right to complain about human rights violations?
@bolded. Yeah, I know. Free health care and education and bla bla bla. So do you know why Mr Gadaffi was so unpopular inside Libya - even though he was popular among many less-informed people on the continent?
What those of you who lick dictators shoes fail to realise is the a system built around one person is bound to fail. The dictator is removed or drops dead and the country devolves into "a third world dealing in slave trade and human trafficking". Yeah, "such a pity".
erad: See them... You'll know he wasn't mature enough to think on his own when it happened.
The whole thing wasn't even about ghadaffi's rule tenure, it was about "human rights". Yes you read it right. Libyans were protesting they didn't have human rights under his rule (Lol. Anyone familiar with Libya then knows that was a load of western influenced BS!).
Also they wanted him to handover to someone random picked through an election as opposed to his son that he wanted to hand over power to. Nobody that spent over 32 years defending their country from external pressure and thieves looking to steal their resources would ever hand over to a random person in the name of election.
Were you in their shoes? I'd love to see you say bolded to someone whose dad was taken away at night and never seen again.
I'm sure the Gandoki vs Habama story schoolchildren were given to read was written by Middle Belters. And the villages whose residents we hear have been sacked and replaced and the villages renamed by Fulanis. Yeye pesin.
Newsgeek24: However, Buratai, in his reaction, said the minister’s tone and public rebuke of a uniformed officer amounted to “a reckless act that strikes at the core of Nigeria’s command and control structure.”
Buratai had no much respect for "command and control structure" when he was in service though. He too was huge on self help.
ponziponzi: A poor country like Nigeria cannot afford to subside consumption of petroleum products. It was foolish and lazy policy to begin with and that should be out of the question.
The 15% tariff is meant to discourage importation of petroleum products and to encourage local investment in downstream sector of the country. It is to allow Dangote and any local refinery to recover their cost and make profit while still selling below the imported price. The argument that he will increase his price by 15% makes no sense. If they do that, they will be selling at the same price as imported products and how will that help them?
Where did anyone say he WILL increase price by 15%? I said he has a band of 15% to increase price. Meaning he CAN increase by price 14.99% just for fun of it and remain competitive.
The whole idea of government is to make life better for the man on the street. Do you people even understand that at all? Smh. Do you know how people are suffering due to the subsidy removal and you think more increases can be justified?
There is "investment in the downstream" already - so how does encouraging more, while imposing tariffs that will eventually discourage exports (because, trust me, other countries are going to tariff us in return) help the country?
Arutan: Dangote is dropping price and will continue week in week out. You put high tariffs on imports to protect your national interests not to hurt the people. Let’s be smart to see the good in some actions of government.
Here's the thing: Tariffs hurt the people. What the government has done is given Dangote a 15% band within which he can increase fuel price. Well, maybe you TRUST him not to use it (I don't!), by state policy should not be based on trust: it's business. He will cash out some day.
And the national interest argument may be myopic since we're building more refineries and may soon become an export hub and other countries will simply tariff us to force us to either remove our tariff or drink our fuel. Look, people import for a reason. Once you're putting tariffs, you're just hurting the average guy on the streets.
ponziponzi: If Dangote is unable to meet local demand, why is he exporting products abroad?
Equating a local refinery with another from India, Russia or Malta will be the height of policy recklessness and stupidity. They don’t have the same value on the Nigerian economy and shouldn’t be put on the same footing.
Most beweries exist in Nigeria because of 20% tariff on imported products.
I'd take this sort of risk with beer, not PMS. By removing susbidies, Nigerians have suffered enough. To then add a 15% increase (that's what is, since it allows Dangote to increase prices by 15% without any fear of competition) is unconscionable.
The CSOs are right. That 15% tariff is anti-competition. With freight charges out, Dangote should be able to out-compete importers without this government interference.
"I [also] knitted the Cheburashka toy for my uncle Anton, then for uncle Vanya and uncle Yura, who are now defending the Motherland," she said.
So that's what they're telling kids. That they're DEFENDING the motherland. Hmm. When they grow up and find out they're the ones offending someone's motherland.
Righteousness2: See how you are Hugging transformer on a USELESS NON EXISTING FAKE NEWS . The Usual useless propaganda.
BBC has BUSTED. The guardian continues .
So any news (or documentary, which shows serving Israeli officers giving their testimony) of Israeli atrocities is fake news. Because the BBC edited a video. You're a very funny guy. I actually thought you'd come here to talk about Sudan, which you have adopted from thread to thread.
If there's hellfire, I'm sure the hottest part of it is waiting to receive all you muttonheads who support evil, whether it's carried out by Israel or Hamas.
McLizbae: Nice illustration. That uniuyo method of application is so acade!
That's how they do things around here. I'm surprised people don't know. 25 is a bit high though. When I asked to apply for a job in Unilag back in 2001, it was 16 copies. I didn't apply though.
Something is seriously wrong with some of you. I'm sure that Righteousness2 fellow will soon show up too to explain that God's own nation can do no wrong. I know those who support the Palestinians too are no better when it comes to supporting pure evil. May God guide you people, cure you all of your twisted minds.
For Africa, they routinely recruit poor performers from Northern Nigeria, who could not find jobs after getting undeserved scholarships from the Nigerian Federal Government to study in UK.
These are the ones dishing out ethnic propaganda in the name of journalism using the BBC brand in Nigeria.
The BBC is still top shelf. No other media house even comes close. Not by miles.
But we seem to have this problem where global brands lower the bar when it comes to recruitment and standards in Africa. It seems they recruit incompetent people to man African operations and simply carry on like it's nothing when output is poor. I think someone called it the racism of low expectations.
spinna: Lol but the wickedness and gossip nature sounds strong in you . You have never considered that it's the presence of God that has preserved and prospered us thus far.. don't worry the good will always prevail against the evil. No weapon fashioned against the church especially in Nigeria shall ever prevail.. imperfect some aspects may be but its better than the alternative
This is the classic argument made by religious folk. Every time. If 20 people die, they will it's because of prayers that only 20 died. If 100 lose their houses, they will say if not for prayer, it would have been 200.
nlfpmod: 24-year-old Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels has responded to her 65-year-old estranged Senator husband, Prince Ned Nwoko after he accused her of doing drugs:
So she's admitting drug use. While trying drag the other wives into the matter. I hope they continue to maintain their dignified silence while Oko Regina and Regina sort our their mess.
jesusjnr2020: What I Noticed Happens To My Prayers When I'm Fasting
I noticed it's really difficult to pray when i'm fasting, especially when I've gone beyond the first or second day of dry fasting.
However I also noticed is that if I'm able to persevere regardless amidst the difficulty and pain and still keep praying, i end up praying much longer than I normally pray.
This was something i first noticed during several midnight prayers.
Usually when I'm not fasting I will hardly pray more than 3 or 4 hours without falling asleep. Highest 5 uninterrupted hours.
it's profoundly hard to stay awake throughout without falling asleep in the middle of the midnight prayers.
However when I was fasting I found myself on several occasions being able to pray from midnight til day break, that's about 12am or before that til past 6am or 7am when the day has become bright.
I found it strange at the time because it wasn't normal for me, but somehow I would just find myself after I start praying from midnight, continue praying and praying until the day begins to brighten outside, even when I didn't plan or expect to pray for that long.
I just seemed to find a strength from somewhere which makes it possible for me to do that which was usually impossible for me to do when I wasn't fasting.
I already knew that fasting helps to achieve results that prayer alone can't, however i didn't know that fasting could also help improve one's prayer life until I learnt this from my own personal experience.
This happened once again during a recent 3 day dry fast I just broke yesterday, hence thought I should share so it could be a blessing to some here, including those looking to give their prayer life a boost.
You can try adding a little fasting to your prayers and see how it goes.
God bless.
I actually opened the thread hoping to read that your prayers apparently received more answers when combined with fasting. But you seem to be all about praying as an end in itself, hence the need to make it longer.
I'm not saying you're wrong though. Just sharing my feelings on your post.
