This!

I saw a community that bandits raided.

And I am thinking, if your jazz is so potent, why not use it to protect yourself, become rich and stuff like that.

Like raid CBN, divert funds from FG's account to yours, let the govt make policies favorable to your business / family, control your helpers to give you contracts you don't deserve and other stuff like that.

But no, it is policing women's privates and dragging their neighbours to their level.

Na wa!
Gerrard59:
This has been my bane with the worthless cultural practices we have across the continent. If the practice were so potent, why not deploy it in developing the immediate environment? The education attainment stats in such areas are low, human development indices are abysmal and the people are so primitive.

@OP: If your village juju is so powerful, use it to develop drugs to treat tough diseases, use it to develop your village to an enviable status, use it to make your people prosperous.
There's always that person who will say this. Daddy, you said God loves us. All those hungry children we saw on TV, why don't their mothers pray for God to bring them food?

I think there's a place in Edo where this happens as well. If the husband knows and says nothing, he falls sick and die, then the children will start dying one after the other. But if he talks and appeases the gods, it's the wife that will die instead.

I'll never understand how this even makes any sense to anyone. Little wonder Christianity was able to overdrive most of them even though they all belong under the same unbrella. You can't be that senselessly brutal and expect people not to run from you to a more lenient religion.
I think it was the only means they saw to ensure sanity in the olden days. Nothing like DNA or any way to spy on your wife then. People had to be forced to behave.

People have died during or after baptism ceremonies due to various tragic events, including attacks by gunmen in Niger in 2025, drownings in incidents in Johannesburg in 2022 and Texas in 2024, and a cardiac arrest in a baby during a 2021 ceremony in Romania. In other cases, people have died from medical emergencies shortly after a baptism, such as a man in Birmingham, UK, in 2023.

DyshApp:
Nigerian online personality and entrepreneur, Adeife, has stirred massive reactions online after declaring that true feminism requires financial independence, not just online activism.

Adeife says feminism isn’t just about tweeting quotes or posting empowering messages online. Real empowerment comes from having choices, and choices often come with money.

“You can’t be a feminist if you’re broke. Money is what makes a woman powerful. You can’t be empowered without the means of empowerment, which is money.”

She explained that financial dependence is why many women stay in bad relationships, unfulfilling jobs, or stressful situations.

Adeife known for her her outspoken views on women’s empowerment, encouraged ladies to earn their own income, saying money gives the freedom to make decisions, challenge norms, and shape their lives.

Is Adeife right that money equals empowerment?
Don't tell that that one. It's called eating your can and wrapping it and putting it in the fridge.

Ambode bawo?
Ambode was the most overrated governor of Lagos. He put Lagos in reverse gear..Sanwolu completed the metro train, Badagry expresswy, and many landmark projects within his first 4 years, meaning technically, if not for vindictiveness of ambode against Fashola, he was the one that had the opportunity to commission those projects, but because of personal reasons with fashola, he abandoned many projects initiated by Fashola.

Epe, his region, have had their fair share in leadership of Lagos, they have produced otedola and Ambode, other divisions too must be given chance.

I knew that marriage has k-leg, but I never expected DV. I believe your mum was aware, but asked you to endure because of the money she is getting.

It is so sad a beautiful young girl subjected herself to this. Look at how he even married you inside shrine. Ladies married to average men got a better wedding. But you were married opposite agbara.

Your mother failed you and I hope this serves as a lesson to other greedy young girls.

Please endure and work it out with him. Your brother did a good job defending you. I must say I am impressed.
I'm genuinely curious: What did you foresee/warn her about? The possibility of domestic violence - like is Ned known to have a history of it? That it's not right to marry a much older man? That she shouldn't go into a polygamous marriage? That older men who marry younger women usually have a violent streak? That she was too young to marry? That ... ?

Honest questions.

Lukuluku69:
Because Eritea withdrew from their group, it means they will finish bottom of their group. Abandoned match attracts 3 points and 3 goals to the supposed opponent/s.

Since in actual fact no match took place, and that withdrawal means the group will have less Teams which means less matches.

CAF now say, for the Play off spots (Best 2nd Position in all of the 9 groups) the Teams standing second will have the exact points and goals they played with ALL bottom placed Teams.

Unfortunately, Burkina Faso won both legs of their encounter with the bottome place Team in their group (6 points taken away)

Nigeria encounter with the bottom placed Team in our group ended in Draws (Home and away) meaning 2 points was deducted.

After the deductions, Nigeria has a superior DG (Goal Difference) we scored more. A factor Football uses to reward ATTACKING TEAMS.

This Rules was communicated to ALL Associations. ALL.
I see. It's hard for football illiterates like me to comprehend, but rules are rules, as long as they were laid down BEFORE the act. I think Mr Traore should have asked his sports officials to explain to him before challenging CAF.

CAF stated their reason for taking such action, yet some people are still asking questions.

A rule is a rule, and it has nothing to do with emotion. What about South Africa that FIFA removed 3 points and 3 goals from despite the fact that Lesotho did not summit any complaint.
Please explain to those of us that don't follow as much. What rule was applied here?

If you waited for 2 years of courtship...

You should put back your waiting cap for 9 months of pregnancy.

By the way I am not a fan of no sex before marriage for the simple reason of sexual compatibility.

I believe these are part of things that should be observed during courtship.

Just be decent about it and not use it as excuse for waywardness!
He may not even have to wait 9 months. A woman who is repelled by sex during her first trimester can become a sex freak during her second. Op, just be patient. She'll come around. If she doesn't (every woman is different when she's pregnant), you can wait 9 months - 1 year.

Congratulations to Damola. This has to be one of the biggest prize money for literary works. If other nationals were allowed to participate, I don't think a Nigerian would ever win. It would be a case of Kenyans and Ethiopians coming to Nigeria all the time to win the prize money of our marathons.

BTW, NLNG is really trying in promoting art and science innovations in Nigeria. The management should also help build labs for Nigerian universities to improve practical sessions for the STEM students. NLNG is rich. Budgeting $300k every year in building and equipping labs across universities in Nigeria can reposition those institutions.
I think they should spread it a bit. Spread the 100k. You could have 50k for winner and 30k and 20k for first and second runners up. Or 5k each for all those longlisted. Or something. Spread it a bit.

To be honest, Peter Obi may have good intention for Nigeria but I doubt he has the mental strength to rule a complex country as Nigeria. He doesn't have the mind of his own and will easily be tossed around like a flying kite. He will have so many forces to contend with and these forces will prey on his weaknesses. Tinubu is a strong leader who is expected to use the political will advantage he has to reset this country. If Tinubu fail to change Nigeria within 8 years, it is better the military come on board and reset Nigeria.
Well, we've had this problem with some of our past presidents, notably Yaradua and Jonathan. Strong leaders don't necessarily do better than weak ones though. Leadership is complex.

I also don't agree with your assessment of Mr Obi. I recall that when he was a governor, he showed firmness when he needed to. The problem is just that he's desperate like most politicians and will say anything to pander to the crowd and win elections.

@blue. God forbid. Did you experience military rule in Nigeria? Lots of resetting they did, those uniformed guys.
