dahfweshdude69: my first 2 interviews I presented that of Cameron and later used that of northeastern state for my 3rd interview.. I contacted Cameron and d consulate... Cameron said I should travel with the visa and present it @ d Poe and if I don't like dere university, i can transfer away... consulate yet to replyExactly. I don't think you have any problem. You can enter with that visa. You were processed for Cameron. You can transfer to Northern once you get there. No need paying another sevis fee. Cameron will have to transfer your sevis info to Northern. Its that simple once you are there already. |
You should consider that a lot of factors are in play here. 1. He has been using the SEVIS payment for Cameron university for all his applications 2. In the DS-160 he used for his most recent visa application, he filled a different school. Personally, I think he should contact the US consulate...to avoid stories that touch.
Exactly. He has been using Cameron sevis number. The only issue is the DS form. Anyway, there is no harm in contacting the consulate. My only fear is that the visa might be cancelled. |
Walspring: goal naijaFalse alarm |
dahfweshdude69: Yeah... d sevis no I used when I applied for d first time is d same thing I used throughout during my interviews... and my sister just called and told me Cameron university notified her about my visa approval... but I will still contact d consulateIn that case, no need to contact the consulate. You were processed for Cameron. Go to Cameron. As far as Cameron has been alerted, you have no issues. Present their I-20 at the POE and you will be allowed entry without issues. The only problem now is that your DS-160 bears another school which is actually not a problem cos people transfer from schools without having to edit DS form. The mix up was actually from you cos you never bothered changing Sevis number. Or did Northern give you d same sevis no as Cameron? |
dahfweshdude69: Yeah...same annotation no n sevis noThen I guess you can enter the US with Cameron I-20. I really don't know if they check DS-160 details at Port of Entry (POE). It will definitely state that your last choice was not Cameron. As advised earlier, contact the consulate. They are in the best position to address this issue. You don't wanna face issues at POE. |
dahfweshdude69: I have i-20 4 both schools with meDo you still like the Cameron school? If yes, check the annotation on your visa. If its the same as the sevis number given by Cameron, you are good to enter usa with I-20 from Cameron. |
joedrae: Ok. Thanks. I'll start contacting schools. You didn't say anything about the cgpa. The cgpa is okay. From my point of view, getting a Phd with it might be difficult. With a good GRE score you can get funding for Msc. |
dahfweshdude69: guys pls I just received my passport 2day but the name of the school on my visa is Dat of the previous school I went with during my first 2 denials... both schools are in Oklahoma.. I went with Cameron university during my first 2 denials and northeastern state university during my approval.. please I hope it ain't bad?You will have issues at Port of Entry since your I-20 school differs from the one on your visa. I might be wrong. My advice is that you complain to the consulate. They are in the best position to address this type of issue. |

The reason is because you chose two schools in the same state and the state being where your sister is located. |
joedrae: Hi house,You can go for Msc. Elect Elect accepts Physics elect but you may be asked to take a few undergrad courses before you begin the graduate program proper. This actually depends on comparing your undergrad courses with what they have. So, contact as many schools as possible before applying. |
jaadx: hey guys! How you all doing? Am new here, got this page through google search. I gonna need ya contribution, my interview at the u.s consulate in lagos is at hand (a week to come) have had many scaring testimonies from friends especially from a friend who got regetted 3times that really got me thinking that is there hope? This a question that have been trumblin my heart, please gurus' in thy house i need ya advice thanks. So many people got it at the first try. So, you need not fret. Just read previous transcripts here. A few main areas you should focus on. 1. How many schools did you apply to? Never say one. Be ready to list about two or more. 2. Why your particular school? Do not answer like a robot. Talk about Ranking, Student/Faculty ratio, A particular research, Excellent student reviews, etc. Never mention location as a reason for selection. 3. Why your Major? For undergrad, talk about passion since secondary school. For post grad, talk about how it relates to your undergrad or your present job 4. What will you do after your degree? Hammer on areas that require your services here in Nigeria (This covers home ties) or returning home to your previous job (Show proof that you will be re employed once you return) 5. Take standardised tests, explain your source of funding, be confident, Do a little research on the location of your school (bordering states and climate). 6. The rest are random basic questions you should know. |
exxy: Guys, there is another app called MAGIC JACK to make calls to the US and Canada only and it's with your MB, it takes only small amount of your Mb when u call. download then register it with ur email and enjoy !!! That's all u need to do ...I know that one too. The one I am explaining here takes small of your Mb only for US and maybe Canada as well. So, its the same thing. You only have to pay few cents when calling Naija. |
Amefrica: I'm interested! It works on blackberries but doesn't work with BIS data plan. So, when you wana use it, you must connect to Wifi or normal data plan. |
Wait! You are saying: 1. The app can make calls to people who don't have it installed 2. You can call the US from Nigeria...for free. 3. You can call Nigeria from the US for a few cents (please I need more info on how much cents exactly or a rough estimate) 4. Does it have a catch, like special charges, hidden deductions, registration fees etc Please clarify these points. If you are positive on all these, then this might actually be the cheapest method.
Exactly. I use it almost everyday. I posted a link to all the accepted brands, you can check their different rates for any country. Register with the cheapest, install Mobile VOIP on your phone. I will let you know how to use any of the registered brands with your installed VOIP. |
Mystiqme: Do you mind sharing the cheaper ones? That's the cheapest I've found. If there are even cheaper ones, it'll be good to know. This is a link to all the supported VOIP brands http://www.mobilevoip.com/en/supported_brands You can check the rates online one after the other. From the few I have checked so far, telbo is the cheapest. |
zenzen: i just prefer abuja to lagos that's all...coslot of pple have been complainin abt lagos embassy unlike abujaHonestly, location of embassy has no effect on the outcome. They are the same Americans. |
I looked it up just now, it is mobile app. What happens if you have to call someone that doesn't have the app installed?
Of course its a mobile app. The receiver doesn't need to have it. You use the mobile app to call a phone number. I use it even from Nigeria and its free if you are calling USA from Nigeria. So, your family can actually call you for free but you have to pay a few cents to call Nigeria from USA. |

For flight options, visit http://www.wakanow.com/ng |
2.6cents/min?! Really cheap. How does this work? Do you mind sharing?
This may not actually be the cheapest. Do your research on Mobile VOIP. You will find all the info you need. |

Na PHONE I USED PLS BEAR WITH METhe only reason I can see for your denial is crammed response. These people have heard too much about academic curriculum aligning with course or whatever. Infact, that word (curriculum) angers them cos it has been used too often. Free yourself. Talk about previous students' reviews which you read online, talk about the schools regional ranking, mention about 2 renowned profs in your department, etc. Your response must be something about your school and not a general scrammed response that could pass for any school in the US. All hope is not lost. Try again as soon as possible. |
streetMic: I will be by God's grace. Aug.I got your PM yesterday, replied, but got another one today again. Have replied again. Is it that you are not getting my replies? |
bbdd: hello zeeSince you are looking for good funding, I will advise you act fast by using the fastest means possible to mail out documents. This will help ensure that you are evaluated for funding on time. Spring is not as far from now as you may think. Don't forget to talk about your intern and any other research experience in your SOP. |
Visa approval! This is what I want to hear, no be 90% ![]() Congratulations, Charis12. Praise God!
Now 100% actually.. Follow the flow once again. |
Charis12: Hi all. I have followed this thread for a while now. I am grateful to everyone who has posted transcripts here..both approvals and otherwise. God bless you all. My interview was on monday, june 23rd 6.30a.m. Iprayed to be the first interviewee so i the pre denials wont affect my morale so my number was A002. A001 was not with the person who interviewed me i guess so my number flashed first on window 7.Congrats.. |
I have since resolved to ignore him. Which song is that one? The one he featured Davido?
Stop acting like you are being asked to ignore me. They only implied that you should drop the ego, accept that you are wrong and move on. |
Indeed! You ARE academically redundant. You are outdated and you have made up assumptions that are totally useless/redundant. That you would prefer being redundant than concise on here, further proves my point about how redundant you truly are
You feel you are concise because you have only said a little which the original poster has so far benefited nothing from. My being redundant as you claim has educated a lot (the main purpose of the forum) and even helped to educate you although you will never admit it. Guess you have a better understanding of the two words now. |
Idazbawz: ohh... now I get your point. Bur do u know dat percentage figures are used to express the rate of something. You are free to use any digit to express yourself; depending on the mssg you are passing. 90-99% should mean (most, if not all), 51-58% should mean (some), 59-69% should mean (many or several), 70-89% should mean(most) 100% means (ALL)....Exactly what he needs to know. This is a discussion forum and not a mathematical quiz competition. |
Indeed! You ARE academically redundant. You are outdated and you have made up assumptions that are totally useless/redundant. Does this answer your question?
You have the right to choice of words but my academic qualification so far proves you wrong. You are only acting your age ( barely 19). I can't wonder why I was never like you at that age. Grow up and cut down the EGO. So, when discussing with a friend, he tells you 90% of the people coming to his party will be girls, do you expect to find exactly 9 girls out of every 10 people or a majority being girls? |
Walspring: Am learning mathematics (percentage)...I can imagine. |
You must be academically redundant if you think 90% is the only percentage that can be termed as most or majority. Go back and study percentages
Well, in a forum like this, it is better to be redundant than concise. That is if you even know the meaning of being redundant. |
Lmao! I'm beginning to find your posts very funny. I see I have wasted valued time trying to make you see reason, but you have continued to jump from one place to the other. You started with 90%, then you tried to plant your assumptions on an already known fact that MOST PhD students get funding, then S.T.E.M, now it is 100%. How confused can one person get?
These are just additional points. Learn to follow the flow like I advised. I shouldn't be stagnant with you. The original poster needs to be advised diligently. He really needs the valid information which you never bothered giving. Instead you were focused on my using 90% instead of most. Like I said, If 90% guarantee for funding doesn't mean Most or Majority to you, I am afraid you have a long way to go. |
Idazbawz, He didn't say most, he specifically mentioned 90%. I'm very certain that such statistics is wrong. Especially considering that his criteria for such made-up claim was the cases of the few PhD students that have come by here.
If 90% guarantee for funding doesn't mean Most or Majority to you, I am afraid you have a long way to go. |
Does the app work on blackberries?
