goldenchic: My pre interview. As for the first bolded, USA interviewers are trained to not be concerned with your sex, religion and race. I can see you keep hammering on religion as the reason for your choice of school. Are you saying being a christian school gives them an edge over other schools offering same course? You should focus on what drew your attention academically. Refrain from the religious ranking or rating. "It encourages a commitment to the Christian life one of which is personal integrity, and an active communication of the Christian faith. ". This has nothing to contribute to your studies. The interviewer might even be a Buddist or Muslim (He/she is human and will frown on the inside). Your small scale business registered with CAC, do you have tax clearance certificate or at least a Tax Identification Number? Have you ever paid tax? If NO, run away from that statement. Anybody can register a business name. Tax Cert or Identification Number is the only proof that you are actually trading under that name and that you have declared your returns. You talked about the economy of USA, big companies like Texas Instrument, GE, etc. Are you going to the US so that you can work with those companies? Red Flag. Just talk about their academic strength only. Oversabi go put you for trouble. Just hope and pray they don't ask about standardised tests. I can see you didn't take any. If you have any work experience, you can use it as a reason why you were exempted from GRE. As for TOEFL, if your English communication is good, they won't bother you about it. Simply say you were exempted because the language of instruction in your undergrad institution was English. 1 Like |

domex007: Hello friends, That 8k should be part of tuition. I doubt if your school offers meal plan and others. Just know what your total tuition is and be prepared to go with extra money to take care of yourself. Most of those figures they put on I20 are estimated. It could be more. |

Mjseun: Well, Americans don't think like Nigerians. Dread, long beard, earrings, etc will only look weird to a Nigerian interviewer. Dress in whatever is smart and comfortable for you. On the day of my interview, a clergy on suit and pastor's white collar was denied while another yoruba man dressed in native attire (agbada) with his hair weaved and his ears pierced was approved. |

Mjseun: Its not a job interview. A short and T shirt will not stop you from getting a student visa. They don't even see your waist line down to your feet. |

Mjseun: Hello house, For my interview, I was on jean and long sleeve shirt. I didn't tuck in the shirt. I got my visa. They are only concerned with the interview itself and not your appearance. |

You guys are busy arguing about airlines. People dey hustle to get visa. The truth is that most airlines are overrated just because of their country of origin. I have used Qatar and Emirate and they offer 5 star services on board. If you find a cheap flight with any of them, pick it up. As for the European airlines, they offer same services. They are only more expensive because they have been over hyped. |

juntod: Hello house. Please be extremely careful about how/where you use your cards for online transactions in the US. So many websites are built by hackers just to get your card details. If dem get am, your own don finish. I will be giving out guidelines on how to know a safe (verified) billing merchant website later on. I hope I am not derailing the forum by so doing. teepeehall: Have learnt alot from this forum. I must say a big Thank you to everyone. I have two questions to ask. 1. Is Murray State university Reg flagged? Murray State Uni is a good school. Very green flag. The money in your account should be at least that amount. The bigger, the better. |

OjaP: Laura, Nice observation. Laura, if you do not want to write the GMAT/GRE, you still have a chance. The VOs know some schools exempt students from these exams. When asked about it, do not simply say it wasn't required. State a strong reason why you were exempted. Maybe due to your work experience. |

laura2014: EXACTLY... But since your uncle bears the same surname as your dad, PM me let me suggest something to you (Don't want VOs to read the suggestion). You may want to consider the option. |
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by juntod: 3:47pm On Jul 15, 2014 |
laura2014: I have read your profile and previous transcript. You didn't do badly. The problem must be from the fact that you were nervous and responded with crammed responses like a robot. Just fill your DS form with your uncle's information. By the way, does your uncle bear the same last name as your dad? Again, do not mention your dad's financial stress as a reason why your uncle is sponsoring. You need to show stronger ties with your uncle. Present him as someone who has been responsible for your education since undergraduate. Your dad on the other hand is capable but your uncle just wants to complete what he has started since he already sees you as his own child. Take your dad's previous statement of account with you alongside your uncle's. Also work on how your chosen graduate program relates to your previous degree and future career prospect. 2 Likes |

Amerinancy: Bro, its okay please. I'm also a woman like her, but I think she is immatured cos from her statements, its obvious she is. Because, I can't insult or even use rude words on anyone for anything talk less of a man who is rightly above a woman by nature. If you are angry at someone, talk to them maturedly and if they continue provoking you, just simply ignore them. Please don't say the bolded in America. Gender inequality is frowned upon. 1 Like |
