These things can be complicating some times.
My mom's statement is what I've been using since for processing all my documents. It wasn't until recently the airline company decided to sponsor and give me a job when I return.
Please any inputs or suggestions or contributions or clarifications will be appreciated. Thank You!!!

If your mother has enough money in her account, I will suggest you front her as your sponsor and further explain to the VO that upon discussing with your employer (airline) about your decision to resign and further your education, they were very impressed and offered to take full responsibility as they will be needing your services after your degree (This hammers on home tie as well).

My wife, myself and my two kids ages 3yrs and the other 7 months,applied for a student visa, my wife was the main applicant while myself and the kids applied for f2 but we applied at the same time as she did and our visas where denied,the VO only gave her a paper stating she didn't have any strong ties back home and the only question asked was why did you pick this school.

She reapplied immediately and went for interview today with just my 7month old baby and she said all the VO asked her was how will you pay for your studies which she answered that I was going to pay for her, he asked her again what I do and she said I own my company and that I am also into landed properties,
VO how will you cope with your child
She answered that she will enroll her in a day care

VO how will you pay for the day care
She answered my husband will

VO why did you choose this school( roosevelt university)
She said as she was about answering, she had only said the school has a good academic reputation the the VO cut her short and said by who

VO what does the school rank in the usnews ranking
She said 77 in the region

VO why didn't you go for other ones that are ranked higher
She said she needed a school that is affordable as well

VO is cost a problem and she said no

Only for him to bring out a blue paper and handed it to her saying am sorry you do not qualify for bla bla bla

So sorry bro. This is really a difficult situation. I can only guess that the problem started from you all applying at the same time. She would have applied alone since yourself and the kids back home would have been a very strong home tie. Joining her after a couple of months would have been easier. Again, daycare in the US is very expensive. Approval rate for a full time student visa for a woman with a toddler is really very low. I really have no suggestion for now. I will revisit the case once I have ideas. *All hope not lost*

Of course it is stated on all school websites that they have funding available. But that doesn't mean everybody will get it. So, contact grad school, your program and profs in your specific area of interest.

I contacted school and they told me its okay that that's how it's suppose to be since its my mom that's sponsoring.... All I have to do now during my interview is to also tell them that and airline here in Nigeria is also co sponsoring and offering me a job after my training.

How exactly have you been doing your search? Have you tried emailing grad programs and profs?

zeezahbee: Don't bother yourself stewee, some schools write personal fund and it means its fund from you or your family not your government or company. My i20 also says personal fund and I was scared because its my dad that is sponsoring me but the school said that's how it should be. Email your school about it and make a print out of their response to the embassy that's what I did tho VO didn't ask about it but if your school can send another i20 no wahala but I doubt if they would. So relax

Good idea. Now I am beginning to think along that line. I am sure personal funds could mean family funds for some schools. Stewee just clarify with your school.

Complain to your school. Have them resend another copy via TNT, FedEx, DHL etc. You can still get it within 5 working days.

Stewee: My I-20 says "students personal funds" although it was my mom's statement I sent to school.
On the letter from the airline it states that they will fully sponsor for my training for the duration of my training.
Will it still be okay to use my mom as my primary sponsor and the airline as backup sponsor.

You have a big problem here. Kindly request for another I-20 from your school. Your I-20 cannot indicate personal funds and you are presenting mum and airline to the VO. At least get an I-20 that has your mum (Family) and then explain the airline sponsorship verbally to the VO.

OK, get your visa with the expensive I-20 first, enter the US 30 days to resumption and try to transfer to the cheaper school. Best of luck

No, he has to state it that he has a child. But he should let the VO know that the child's mum is in custody and capable of taking care of him in his absence.

Your advice is deceitful as he/she may be disappointed to find out that his school doesn't allow transfer until after one year especially considering the fact that finance is his/her concern. It all depends on the reason for denial. If its a reason that doesn't require you to go and acquire additional qualification, you are free to go back to your interview immediately for same semester.

exxy: Olumide, abeg check ur i20 well on Instructions to student section number 5, it says: a nonimmigrant student is permitted to transfer to a different school provided the transfer procedure is followed.

Graviton and others, rules have changed. Always check new policy. Schools no longer allow transfer or else you do at least one semester with them. Some even say one year for undergraduate. Under that clause, they still went further to state that with good reason and proper arrangement with the school, they may allow you to transfer if you inform them at least 3 weeks before resumption. Do your research.

Mind you, thats phase one. Being that your transcript is from a Nigerian school, they will have to verify it by sending your data back to your school for verification. The time it takes your school acknowledge their feedback and get back to them is another big factor that causes delay.

Moreover, the hurdle is just once in a lifetime. After evaluation, sending to those 7 schools will just take 3 to 5 days. They save your data for life and can send to any school as anytime you request.

GMAT will be better for you since some schools do not accept GRE for your field (few schools though). As for list of schools, Graviton has listed a few, but do a little search on your own. I'm confused about something...
I'm going to the US for flight training.
I have my visa interview coming up on the 7th of July after an initial refusal in may this year. Now the DS 160 I filled has my Mom as my sponsor but last last week an Airline company agreed to sponsor me and give me a job when I return.

I Do not have all this info in the DS160 I filled and submitted. Can I fill another one with this new development with the company as my sponsor.

Or should I use them as a co sponsor and still go with my mom's statement of account.

Or should I just go for interview with the DS160 I already filled an submitted.

Urgent responses need please.

Are you already a staff of the airline? If not, be ready to explain why they want to sponsor you.

He has been processed for Cameron. He should enter the US with that I-20 if it is still valid. No need complicating issues.

Check my post, I have added more information.[/quote]Per your last post, your DS form can't affect you after you enter the states. What counts is the I-20 that was used to stamp you in at POE. As far as his visa says Cameron, he is good to go. Those who transfer do not need to change DS information. They only change sevis info.
