Stewee: Bimbola no vex oooIf your mother has enough money in her account, I will suggest you front her as your sponsor and further explain to the VO that upon discussing with your employer (airline) about your decision to resign and further your education, they were very impressed and offered to take full responsibility as they will be needing your services after your degree (This hammers on home tie as well). |
Green120: Hello house, i need your help.So sorry bro. This is really a difficult situation. I can only guess that the problem started from you all applying at the same time. She would have applied alone since yourself and the kids back home would have been a very strong home tie. Joining her after a couple of months would have been easier. Again, daycare in the US is very expensive. Approval rate for a full time student visa for a woman with a toddler is really very low. I really have no suggestion for now. I will revisit the case once I have ideas. *All hope not lost* |
govman4: 10ks bro,i av been searchin 2ru d grad schl link dt was posted on d trend to 2 checked 2ru each schl website n dia financial aid packages, but i wil narrow my search 2ru mailing dt u suggestOf course it is stated on all school websites that they have funding available. But that doesn't mean everybody will get it. So, contact grad school, your program and profs in your specific area of interest. |
Stewee: Please Guys One more thing...You are good to go. |
Stewee: Thanks dear!Pls print that email conversation and take it with you to be on the safer side. Best of luck |
govman4: I hail o,pls help me with the name of schools dt can offer TA,RA or full tuition for MSc in Chemistry or direct PhD startin from d first yr,i av been searching 4 ova 2 weeks which i was unable to get d schl...pls house help oHow exactly have you been doing your search? Have you tried emailing grad programs and profs? |
zeezahbee: Don't bother yourself stewee, some schools write personal fund and it means its fund from you or your family not your government or company. My i20 also says personal fund and I was scared because its my dad that is sponsoring me but the school said that's how it should be. Email your school about it and make a print out of their response to the embassy that's what I did tho VO didn't ask about it but if your school can send another i20 no wahala but I doubt if they would. So relaxGood idea. Now I am beginning to think along that line. I am sure personal funds could mean family funds for some schools. Stewee just clarify with your school. |
stevecrun: must you attack everybody here?I have a reason why i said 48hrs..maximum of 72hrs cos ive used Federal express before, not for my i20 but for another delivery from the United States and one again from England..precisely from Manchester City FC store..Attack you? No na. Sorry if you felt attacked. No harm meant. I was actually smiling when I typed that "take it easy". I mean for a scheduled pick up from a school, additional delay is inevitable. |
Nice truck.. Looks solid |
stevecrun: Fedex will take 48hrs to your doorstep sef..Take it easy. It has never worked that fast for international delivery. |
TheDim: Hello House!Complain to your school. Have them resend another copy via TNT, FedEx, DHL etc. You can still get it within 5 working days. |
Stewee: My I-20 says "students personal funds" although it was my mom's statement I sent to school. You have a big problem here. Kindly request for another I-20 from your school. Your I-20 cannot indicate personal funds and you are presenting mum and airline to the VO. At least get an I-20 that has your mum (Family) and then explain the airline sponsorship verbally to the VO. |
paparave: i already have my admission and i-20 from the schOK, get your visa with the expensive I-20 first, enter the US 30 days to resumption and try to transfer to the cheaper school. Best of luck |
paparave: not dat bro, would like to attend a cheaper schOK, I get you now. Get the admission and I-20 from the cheaper school first. |
paparave: because am trying to get a student visa and if am able to get it,i dont think i would be able to go to the ach because it's very expensiveOk let me get your point. Is it that you do not want to go to school at all after getting your visa? Do you intend to use the student visa as a disguise to enter USA and do something else? |
paparave: Hey nl,pls is it everybody on here dat has been issued a student visa will actually attend the school?Hahahahaha.. funny question. What exactly is your plan with this question? |
slimmy05: So its to advice him to go through the work mode be that o.No, he has to state it that he has a child. But he should let the VO know that the child's mum is in custody and capable of taking care of him in his absence. |
slimmy05: VO, someone looking to create home tie. Is it wrong for someone who already have a 5year old child to state it in the ds160, mind you he is not married. Home tie has to come by fire by force. He doesn't have a job.Hmmm.. Questions may arise. 1. Are you the one taking care of the child presently? 2. If yes, who take responsibility since he/she is not going with you? |
I strongly advise you take your own advice and do your research, man. What you have stated is according to the school's decision not the policy issued by the US government. It is true most schools decide to retain the students for some time, but this is in no way a policy acknowledged by the government. The policy states that the student is free to transfer if need be, so long as the necessary procedure is seen to, any thing contradicting what is stated on my I-20 is false. If what you have said above is in an way a direct degree by the US government or is stated on the I-20 then show it, if not then it isn't a factor to be considered.
And where in my post did you read that it is a Govt policy? I am telling you most schools have changed their policy and it is very strict now. Your advice is deceitful as he/she may be disappointed to find out that his school doesn't allow transfer until after one year especially considering the fact that finance is his/her concern. Do you know the implication of being stranded over there? |
diamondsare4eva: Can you reapply for an f1 visa after 1st refusal within the same school term ( fall 2014). What are the chances of getting it this time. Has anyone been refused the 1st time and given when they went back a 2nd time and got it at the lagos us embassy. Please share your experienceIt all depends on the reason for denial. If its a reason that doesn't require you to go and acquire additional qualification, you are free to go back to your interview immediately for same semester. |
exxy: Olumide, abeg check ur i20 well on Instructions to student section number 5, it says: a nonimmigrant student is permitted to transfer to a different school provided the transfer procedure is followed.Graviton and others, rules have changed. Always check new policy. Schools no longer allow transfer or else you do at least one semester with them. Some even say one year for undergraduate. Under that clause, they still went further to state that with good reason and proper arrangement with the school, they may allow you to transfer if you inform them at least 3 weeks before resumption. Do your research. |
bbdd: WES is the only way unless you can reach a deal with your school to reduce it shaMind you, thats phase one. Being that your transcript is from a Nigerian school, they will have to verify it by sending your data back to your school for verification. The time it takes your school acknowledge their feedback and get back to them is another big factor that causes delay. |
My brother intends to apply to seven (7) US universities for his postgraduate education. The cost of each transcript from his school is about N40,000 which sums up to N280,000. we thought of using WES but after reading numerous reviews of poor customer service, needless delays and poor document management,it looks like using the service might be counter-productive. Is there any other acceptable means to send these transcripts without spending the above amount?
WES is not as stressful as people make you believe. Moreover, the hurdle is just once in a lifetime. After evaluation, sending to those 7 schools will just take 3 to 5 days. They save your data for life and can send to any school as anytime you request. |
idee91: goodmoring all, graviton, zeezahbee, calmdown, walspring, olumide, juntod, slimmy05, and all other guru's in d haus. av bin following dis thread 4 some time naw, & u guys are doing a nice jahb. I'm about applying to some skulls in u.s, to study financial mgt(graduate study), i need clarifications on the exams to rite, i know of toefle, but which am i to write amongst gre and gmat?.... And i also if possible, need materials... And pls, u could recomend skulls 2(especialy dos dat gives fundin). TenkGMAT will be better for you since some schools do not accept GRE for your field (few schools though). As for list of schools, Graviton has listed a few, but do a little search on your own. Navigate on this link http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-business-schools/mba-rankings . Please do not narrow your search to the first page. |
Stewee: Hello NLers,Are you already a staff of the airline? If not, be ready to explain why they want to sponsor you. |
bbdd: guysNo problem. You will get the alert. International debit alerts sometimes delay. |
I have already addressed this issue. If you are still not satisfied, then read Joenice's and Slimmy's
Well, we Nigerians have to be extra careful most times. A Canadian or British won't worry about this. Like I earlier said, no harm in contacting the consulate. Its the best bet but to me, its not necessary in this scenario. |
Zee, I have made my point clear. What do you do when you pay in NGN30,000 into your account and the bank registers it as NGN29,000. If you can answer this then you will have no problem understanding my point. It is his decision to make anyway.
This issue has nothing to do with consulate. Which ever school you indicate on the sevis payment is the school you are being processed for. He has been processed for Cameron. He should enter the US with that I-20 if it is still valid. No need complicating issues. |
justwise: @AllLol.. PATRIOTISM is inevitable no matter where you find yourself. After now, we won't think about the game. |
Walspring: We tried abi? But we lack attacking force... I wish Mba play this world cos i could feel his role missing there...Its really not about Mba. 2 years have passed since the Nation's cup. Most of these boys perform by luck. They are seasonal players. Imagine Musa scoring 2 goals last game, where was he today? |
Nigeria out.. We did a great job. Anyway, time to focus on travel plans.. |
Okay. That is an expected response from the school. Check my post, I have added more information.
Per your last post, your DS form can't affect you after you enter the states. What counts is the I-20 that was used to stamp you in at POE. As far as his visa says Cameron, he is good to go. Those who transfer do not need to change DS information. They only change sevis info. |
