I think that school should be relinqiushed to the FG,who poses to be the best acquisitor at hand.... Those two state cannot fend for that instituition, its a liability to them.... Even if Lautechs fees is hiked to 300k, they can only survive max 2years they will still go back to there usual position.

I would like to use this golden opportunity to enlighten Nigerians on why any aspiring accountant should write ACCA exams instead of ICAN.

Before I continue, I will like to say here that comparing ACCA to ICAN is like comparing Ronaldo De Lima to Emile Heskey. Ignorance is really not bliss!

1. RECOGNITION

It goes without saying that ACCA being a global body for accountants is recognised in almost every part of the world. If you aspire to live and work in/outside Nigeria then ACCA is the answer. In June 2016 ACCA had 188 000 members and 480 000 students from 178 countries. There is little wonder as to why the body is growing in leaps and bounds globally. ACCA is not recognised in only a few countries.

2. EXAM FLEXIBILITY

ACCA exams are highly flexible. They are both computer and paper based. Furthermore,In Nigeria the first three exams are offered in an on-demand computer based format. This incredibly increases your pass rate since you are working at your own speed, time and convenience.

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATES

On your road to becoming an ACCA member you have a chance of grabbing a number of certificates and qualifications before being awarded a B.sc and/ M.sc(Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK. Qualifications includes : Awards of excellence, Diploma in Accounting and business, Advanced Diploma in accounting and business.
Furthermore, every year ACCA offers scholarships to 5 students who attain a certain performance.

4. EASY TO PASS

It is below average students who prepare badly that always complain about ACCA being difficult. I don't know if it's because of our poor educational system or those who enrol for a ACCA in Nigeria are just below average.
With a study material and a revision in 3-4 months you get awarded an accounting diploma which qualifies you as a junior accountant after passing just three on demand computer based exam exams. Flexibility!

5. STUDY MATERIALS

ACCA study materials are the easiest to get for any professional accounting exam online - with just a phone call you can get any hard copy study text/ kits of your choice at your disposal. It took me two days to order and receive F6 FA2016.
Let me also add that there are a lot of ACCA free learning resources/ classes online. For example Opentuition, LSBF and YouTube offer free lectures videos and class notes tailored according to ACCA syllables from F1-P6.

Please my fellow ACCA students don't be moved. You are on the right path. Hardwork and a determined heart will get us there. You don't need to waste money paying for ACCA lessons when there are a lot free lectures online, waiting for you to download them. Just get your study and exam kits and do a lot of practise. Above all, the FG made a rule late last year that, any professional body that has its equivalent in the country shall hereby be void for employment purposes within the ambiet of the country, you need to go to ICAN centres and see the alarming rate at which ACCA candidate are opting in as special candidates for ICAN...
upon 5years of been a Chartered accountant (ICAN) you will be awarded a chartered accountant of england and wales (ICEAW) and as well as CICMA (charted instituite of cost management accountants) automatically...

Bottomline:
If your motive is to remain in this country (or probably base in the UK) as a professional accountant, my brother ICAN is the best bet

i did my internship with GTBank in 2016, the experience was amazing, its really a nice place.. Its almost impossible for you to distinguish a full staff from the interns in terms of interactions. But i think Gtbank should improve the pay, because this interns dominates the work force of the bank (they do what most experienced graduate working in other banks do, like zenith and the likes of others). They shouldnt allow their cost benefit overshadow the well being of their human capital(interns) the full staffs are enjoying tho.
I went to an interview, what the Human resource person was intrested in my resume, was my experience at GTB.
If you are given the opportunity to undergo an internship program at GTBank, just be ready to work, multi task and go home late (expecially if your branch is located on the mainland) . but the knowledge that will be inculcated in u will surely outweigh the stress. My experience at GTB cannot be sold short

The school have defaulted their credit payment obligations, they have defaulted! From my own point of view i think the FG should look into the credit facilities granted my commercial banks, because loans granted to persons or group of person was conventionally established to enhance growing businesses which in turn boost economic growth, so pitiful that reverse is the case, Loan grants by this so called commercial banks are becoming a trap/route in acquiring someone else's property unduely.

base on the exigency catalyst i think commercial banks should calm their nerves for some time before acting like tyrants... Moreover the funds they loan out to customers is gotten from the savings-surplus group unit of the economy, they should give some considerations however, i wonder what has gone wrong with re-scheduling and consideration before Take-over.
