Hi peeps. Am happy to see that the thread is moving, new monikers everywhr, that's good. Left Naija in part 8. Great work thesoj, montrealer and all them oldies. Whr is Tnuola and the rest. School is not easy here o, u have to buckle ur shoes tight. And pls make sure u pay ur fees before leaving naija or up to say 75% of it. Working to pay fees here is very difficult, not impossible though, but some of us may not even have the heart to carry it. The best thing that can happen to an international student here is to be on scholarship, but if u can't get one just try pay ur fees. Generally Toronto is alright, organised society and friendly people everywhere, just a bit congested in terms of population but it's not like u keep bumping into pple everywhr u turn, maybe in terms of jobs. In all, it's a good country whr things work and pple are orderly. Above all come with God, with Him on ur side u can do all things. By the way, Cocolav, Taike, Team12, Santohfilz, Anugoson are all my paddys here. Great pple!

My people how una dey. Been in Canada now for 2 weeks. Everyone seem friendly here and it's beautiful and all. But it's not easy o, school and all. my advice is be prepared, be prepared, pay ur fees, know what ur program entails and ask questions, u lose nothing. wish u all the best! safe!

hi all, am sorry this is coming late. I got to Canny on Saturday morning, flew Egypt Air from lagos to Egypt to Toronto, not as bad as I heard. at poe, I was asked everys and I responded accordingly. The vo asked for my loa, proof of tuition payment, reason for coming late since school resumed 2 weeks ago - I showed her my mail to the school saying I was going to resume late. she then issued my study permit immediately. to all awaitees I wish u all the best. now another life begins here.

Type application to work in canada in google and click the CIC link. It will bring you to the open work permit application page. If going paper route, just download the forms- IMM 1291(open work permit appl form), family info form and doc checklist and if applicable trv schedule 1 form.

Thanks a lot. Buh what I really wana know is whether the SOWP app doubles as a Visa app as well, or does my spouse have to apply for a visitor's visa to visit me as well as the SOWP simultaneously.

The student work permit comes with a condition: "actively registered in a course of study", deferring the admission means one doesn't meet that condition, therefore any work done will be illegal 'under the table' work. As a result of the legal aspect, the individual would be limited to shady opportunities which generally do not pay much or respect labor laws ie some employers might not pay up as at when due & you can't complain since na illegal tinz.

Thanks Baba! Now I can counsel him appropriately. I thought as much as well, employers can be funny once they know u can't enforce ur rights or u don't even have one.

For people in Canny already, is it possible to enter Canny and defer your admission for one semester just because you want to try work and gather some money. I mean off the record work, not the usual 20hrs per week student work. A friend is planing to do that and has asked me for advise. Onyeoma and all my Godfathers for here, over to you o.

My husband applied for SOWP not EE.

Hi all. Finally picked up my TRV laden Passport yesterday at VAC, Lekki. So grateful to you all. Going to York University, Toronto for LLM. This is my story. My first application was refused on May 4. I reapplied on June 7, got Medical Call on July 18, Passport Request was August 13 and Passport Pick-up was August 18. I thank God for seeing me through. I already listed my docs when I got the medical call. To all TRV hopefuls, I wish u God's grace and mercy. Flying towards the end of this month, still look for accommodation though, anybody going to Toronto or anywhr close to York Uni should pls PM me. Very mank thanks.

Is there a limit on invitation letters, can someone who has invited someone in the last 2 years invite another person now. Am trying to process Visitor's Visa for my wife and kid and their invitation is coming from her Aunt who has invited someone b4 in the last 2 years.

Yea av bin to IOM, dey gave me a print out as proof. D med results were uploaded July 7th..Also sent CIC a mail telling dem av done the med myself 2 weeks after den. ( a very detailed mail with proof attched) including all associated digits to app.

One Month! See me o, I was just abt to post that my medical results have not been updated since last week tuesday (July 28) that IOM told me they sent it to CIC. Am so worried cos resumption is close at hand. And I already even sent CIC a mail to draw their attention to it. I hope they update it this week sha. Still chilln anyways. It shall be well. Safe!

Hello House. Happy Sunday to us all. Pls can I use my Sponsor's SoA to process UK Visiting Visa now. Or should I wait for my TRV to land first b4 starting the UK Visiting Visa application. I just don't want the SoA to be too old when am applying.

Hello Guys. Personally I think post-medical refusal is lame and unacceptable. If you look at the opening paragraph of the medical instruction sheet, its says "Your application has now reached a stage where we need your medicals..." It is clear from that statement that a review has been done. Now while a post-medical review may be part of their procedure, it is submitted that that shouldnt be the case; the reason being that CIC knows that medical exam is not free and the fee is not refundable. Why tell an applicant to go for medicals when u may still refuse his application thereby making him lose money. CIC should follow the spirit and letter of the medical instruction sheet and do a thorough review well before a medical instruction is issued. In the alternative, they should make medicals a part of the application process such that it is compulsory from the beginning. That way we know from the start that we are risking everything (application and medical fees). Afterall no one asks for a refund of his application fee when he is refused.

Morning All. Pls when CIC says on ur medical instruction form that you have 30 days to do ur medics, does it mean 30 days or 14 days. I just wana be clear cos av heard pple say its actually 14 and not 30 even though its 30 days that written on my medics instruction form (online route). Am asking because I wana be sure that in the event that the hospital sends my medical results to CIC outside 14 days, there will not be issue of not doing it within the required period.
