Flying Eagles battle high altitude in Burundi

https://africanfootball.com//bp_images/2016/05/Chile_v_Nigeria_U17_32.jpg
From Eaglets to Flying Eagles

African U20 champions Nigeria will begin the defence of their crown Saturday afternoon with a tricky road trip to Burundi’s capital city of Bujumbura, which is over 2,500 feet above sea level.

Despite its high altitude, which places additional demands on physical exercises like playing football, Bujumbura has an average weather temperature of about 29 degrees, which is warm.

Home team Burundi walked over DR Congo in the first round of the qualifiers, while the Flying Eagles drew bye.

New Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke is in Burundi with the bulk of the team he guided to win the FIFA U17 World Cup last year in Chile and not one player who is playing in the country’s top-flight domestic league.

Striker Victor Osimhen, who will sign a professional contract with German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in January 2017 when he would have clocked 18 years, is the star of this team.

He proved his class in the team’s heart-warming 2-1 test match win over the Nigeria Olympic team, scoring the winning goal and providing an assist for the opening goal.

He has recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered in that game and along with skipper Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze will be expected to inspire the U20s to victory again.

The Flying Eagles are very fit, play as a team and will not be intimidated by whatever the host team throw at them.

Kick-off time on Saturday is 1pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria U20 in Burundi for CAF qualifiers

By Samuel Ahmadu

Emmanuel Amuneke's side landed in their hosts' city ahead of their Saturday's clash with the young Swallows in Burundi

Nigeria U20 male national team arrived Burundi on Thursday ahead of the first leg, second round Caf U20 Nations Cup qualifying clash with the hosts on Saturday.

The 31-man Nigerian delegation made up of 18 players and 11 officials landed at the Burundi international Airport at about 1pm Nigerian time - 2pm Burundian time after they departed Nigeria on Tuesday at 1pm.

Among the Nigerian delegation are NFF executive committee member Babagana Kali as leader of the administrative crew, NFF assistant technical director Siji Lagunju with coach Emmanuel Amuneke leading the coaching crew.

Upon their arrival, the Flying Eagls were excitefully welcomed by officials of the Nigeria Embassy in Burundi led by the deputy secretary Chrisantus Micheal and counselor officer Chukwueze Dennis. Also present to receive the team were officials of the Burundian Football Association.

Following the brief reception at the Airport, the team were transferred to five star Sun-safari Club Hotel, where they will be accommodated ahead of the game.

However, defender Tobechukwu Ibe was replaced by Opeh Samuel after he failed a late fitness test following team doctors' assessment.

The Flying Eagles had a light training session at 5pm on Thursday and will train again at 3pm Burundian time on Friday.

The encounter is slated to kick-off at 2pm Nigerian time.

“All the praise goes to God almighty."

Eagles caretaker coach Yusuf dismisses pressure

https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/05/Samm_15_Dec_1.jpg
Salisu Yusuf will lead Eagles vs Mali and Luxembourg

Interim Super Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf has insisted he is not under pressure to win this month’s friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.

Nigeria will play Mali on May 27 in France and Luxembourg four days later, but they have been depleted following the withdrawals of top stars like Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi, Russia-based forwards Aaron Samuel and Ahmed Musa through injury and other commitments.

But Yusuf, who has worked as an assistant to Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh and Samson Siasia, has maintained he will not be under pressure to win the games.

"I won't be under pressure because there won't be any reason to," said the former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach.

"They are just friendly games and while they are important for what we want to achieve, we won't be under pressure.

"We have some new players we are giving opportunities for the first time, but no pressure at all."

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are yet to announce a substantive coach for the team ahead of 2018 World Cup qualifiers beginning in October.

Iheanacho is ready to improve his game for Guardiola’s coming

https://www.9jabet.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Iheanacho-getty1.jpg
Kelechi Iheanacho believes the imminent arrival of Pep Guardiola to Manchester City will make him a better footballer.

Iheanacho proved to be a revelation in the just-concluded season, scoring in the first half as the Citizens drew 1-1 with Swansea City in their final game of the 2015/16 Barclays English Premier League season on Sunday.

His goal proved vital as it sealed City’s place in the qualifiers for next season’s Uefa Champions League and Pellegrini was quick to salute the accomplishments of the youngster.

Iheanacho has now voiced his sentiments about the arrival of Guardiola, who has previously managed FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich with distinction.

“There is a great manager coming in and you have to be happy about that.

“We (Manchester City stars) will work with him and he will be choosing the players he wants to work with next season so it’s a case of working hard and seeing what happens. Naijabet.com

“Pep is a great manager who has coached some big teams in Europe and won a lot of trophies. I think he will do the same for us as well.

“I hope to help take me to the next level and we can all win many trophies,” Iheancho told reporters.

Meanwhile, former Manchester City manager, Pellegrini believes Nigerian striker, Iheanacho has a brilliant future in the game.

“I think he demonstrated how important he [Iheanacho] is,” Pellegrini said. “He is a very good player but he also must improve a lot.

“But a player of 19 years old who scores so many goals and not playing all the games, I think has a brilliant future. I think all the fans of City will be delighted with him in the next years.”

The respect between both individuals appears to be mutual as Iheanacho was quick to salute the exploits of the Chilean manager.

“He is a special manager for me and has done great things in my life – he brought me into the first team, introducing me to work with the squad right from pre-season last year.

“I am happy for him, for everything he achieved with this team, and happy that he made me a part of it.

“I won’t forget him, no matter where he goes.

“I am not quite happy that he is going, but this is the football world and anything can happen. I just wish him good luck wherever he goes and will be praying for him and hope to see the future.

“He is popular with the players – he makes people happy when they work with him because he likes to play football.

“I have been playing and scoring goals this season, so it has been a huge difference to what happened to me last season.

“But next season I hope to be much better, and score more goals to help the team succeed in all the competitions,” Iheanacho submitted.

Iheanacho scored 14 goals in all competitions for City this season.

Bloody hate this Kaita guy. That red card against Greece at the 2010 World Cup was a clear case of match fixing. The Greece footballer did not provoke Kaita. Kaita kicked the guy for no reason to get sent off.

A disgrace to all Nigerian footballers. Amokachi, Forget that guy.

It actually took me years to come to terms with that incident. The unprofessional attitude displayed by Sani Kaita just made me understand that, apart from the skills and talent, footballers need a lot of education on both on the pitch and off the pitch attitude. I was just in pains through out that season. I couldn't forgive him for that useless and unwarranted attitude.

I even wandered what the then Coach saw in him before given him a chance.

I do not know if you can remember one of the last friendlies we had before the World Cup. Sani Kaita was just running up and down, had no impact, which was enough reason for the Coach to do away with him.

These Foreign Coaches shah.

@ the bolded please do not take it personal with him. He must have learnt his lessons. He needs to revive his careers.

Leicester City, Tottenham Target Musa Set For Talks With CSKA Over His Future

https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/27903Musa.jpg
Nigeria national-teamer Ahmed Musa will sit down and talk about his future with CSKA Moscow at the end of this season, and remains focused on winning the Russian Premier League title with the capital team.

Speculations are rife at home and abroad that the pacy striker has more or less agreed terms with English Premier League champs Leicester City but the reports have been played down by a top source close to the player.

“It is not yet at that stage, there are a lot of rumours but Musa and CSKA are purely focused on winning the title and after that serious talks will begin with suitors ,” a source close to Musa told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Leicester City are reportedly frontrunners to sign the CSKA Moscow star this summer but face genuine competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who have an excellent relationship with his intermediary.

The 23-year-old netted his 18th goal of the season across all competitions on Monday against FK Krasnodar.

Nigerian striker Fenando Adi will undergo a MRI scan to know the extent of the injury he suffered while in action for Portland Timbers in a Major League Soccer (MLS) game on Sunday which they lost 2-1 to New York City FC.

Adi, who netted his eighth goal of the season in the 56th minute to equalise at 1-1, was replaced in the 58th minute on account of a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old striker is the joint leading scorer in the MLS with eight goals, same as former Barcelona star David Villa.

Adi is on the shopping list of ambitious English Premier League side West Ham.

Sani Keita

AfricanFootball.com has specially gathered that former Nigeria World Cup star Sani Kaita plans to get his career back on track by reuniting with coach Daniel Amokachi at Finnish second division club JC Hercules.

Midfielder Kaita has not played since he sensationally quit Nigeria premier league side FC IfeanyiUbah last season after he claimed a breach of contract

A proposed return to hometown club Kano Pillars failed to see the light of day thereafter.

The former AS Monaco ace has played in the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova previously. He also posted a stint at Enyimba.

“Sani is working on joining Daniel Amokachi in Finland to see if he could resurrect his once-promising career,” a top source told AfricanFootball.com

Most Nigerian fans remember Kaita not for a good reason – when he was sent off in a 2010 World Cup group game against Greece lost and eventually failed to go past the group stage of the tournament.

Zenke in action for Karabukspor

Former Nigeria youth international Simon Zenke has told AfricanFootball.com his goal which helped Karabukspor beat hosts Gotzepe 2-1 to secure promotion to the Turkish Super League is down to his wife.

Zenke, who described the goal as 'special', told AfricanFootball.com that his wife has been putting pressure on him to get back to goal-scoring for and so he was delighted it happened at such a crucial time of the season.

"What came to my mind immediately I scored was my wife because she has been on my neck for long to score goals,” he revealed.

He credited divine help for his club’s promotion.

"I can't really describe the feeling after achieving this feat. We have come a long way as there have had ups and downs throughout the season, but in the end we achieved our aim and all glory to God," Zenke further told AfricanFootball.com

Boko Haram, Islamic State ties alarming – UN Council

The United Nations Security Council has said it is alarmed by ties between Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants and the Islamic State (IS) group.

In a statement, it said Boko Haram – which pledged allegiance to IS in 2015 – continued to “undermine the peace and stability” in West and Central Africa.

Meanwhile, a senior United States official said there were reports of Boko Haram fighters joining IS in Libya, the BBC reports.

Nigeria is to host a summit on Saturday on fighting Boko Haram.

President Muhammadu Buhari will welcome counterparts from Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger for the gathering in Abuja, along with French President Francois Hollande, United Kingdom Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond and U.S Deputy Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

In the statement, the 15-member UN Security Council expressed “alarm at Boko Haram’s linkages with the Islamic State.”

It also voiced its support for President Buhari’s “crucial initiative” to hold the security summit in Abuja.

Meanwhile, Mr. Blinken – who is already in Nigeria – said he was concerned by reports that Boko Haram militants were going to Libya, where IS influence has grown in recent months.

“We’ve seen that Boko Haram’s ability to communicate has become more effective,” he said.

“They seem to have benefited from assistance from Daesh [IS].”

Global coalition against corruption: Diezani, Ibori, Dariye, 57 other Nigerians may lose UK assets
Posted By: Yusuf Alli

https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/EFCC-LOGO-300x200.jpg
Fresh facts emerged yesterday that more than 60 top Nigerians may lose assets and cash laundered in the United Kingdom.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) may soon submit a list of those convicted, under probe, the fleeing suspects and those watch-listed to the relevant agencies in the UK.

The UK was said to be in custody of over £40 million stolen funds recovered from some Nigerian government officials in 2008.

This is apart from about £22.5million recovered from the Island of Jersey.

Of the cash, about £6.8million loot had been traced to ex-Governor James Ibori.

Some of those likely to be affected include ex-governors like James Ibori, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Joshua Dariye, the late Abubakar Audu, Chimaroke Nnamani, Lucky Igbinedion, the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, and others.

Others are about 13 ex-governors on trial for financial crimes, some former ministers either on trial or under investigation, some indicted top bankers during the 2008 financial crisis.

Six of the ex-governors were alleged to have acquired assets worth £15million in the United Kingdom, while in office.

One of the governors allegedly paid £1.6million at a go in 2005 for a posh mansion in London.

According to findings, about 60 highly-placed Nigerians, especially politically exposed persons and their fronts, have assets and looted funds in the United Kingdom and Island of Jersey.

For instance, Ibori’s assets in the UK are said to worth more than $150 million. A former director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) owns a flat in St George Wharf worth about 450 pounds more than 10 years ago, while another top civil servant owns 1.65 million pounds Fulham property.

It was learnt that the decision of the British Prime Minister, David Cameron, to collaborate with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has dimmed the hope of the affected treasury looters.

A top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “With the pledge of the British Prime Minister, we will just go to our shelf and reel out the list of those with suspected loot and laundered funds in the United Kingdom.

“Already, we have the dossiers of all these suspects right from the days of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the EFCC chairman.

“We can talk of about 60 on our radar, including about 13 governors, former ministers, oil subsidy suspects, indicted top bankers and some of those involved in the $15billion arms deals.

“We will recover all the stolen funds. In fact, very soon, we may start publishing the photographs of the identified assets of some of these suspects.

“In fact, the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, met with the Special Fraud Office in London on Thursday.

“We can seize these assets under the Interim Forfeiture Order in Sections 26 and 29 of the EFCC Act.

The section reads: “Any property subject to forfeiture under this Act may be seized by the commission in the following circumstances- (a) the seizure is incidental to an arrest or search; or (b) in the case of property liable to forfeiture upon process issued by the Court following an application made by the Commission in accordance with the prescribed rules.

“Whenever property is seized under any of the provisions of this Act, the Commission may-(a) place the property under seal; or (b) remove the property to a place designated by the Commission.

“Properties taken or detained under this section shall be deemed to be in custody of the Commission, subject only to an order of a Court.”

The EFCC and the Metropolitan Police have been collaborating in the past few years.

The British government had, in 2008, expressed its willingness to return about £40 million stolen funds recovered from some Nigerian government officials.

A former Acting British High Commissioner to Nigeria, James Tansley, on September 27, 2007 handed over two cheques for more than $250,000 (£126,000, 29.3m naira) to Nigeria.

The UK Metropolitan Police had said the amount was only a fraction of the fortunes that the former Governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua Dariye, and other Nigerian officials had diverted to London.

A cheque for $2 million belonging to a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, was also returned to Nigeria by the British government.

President Muhammadu Buhari had during the week pleaded with the UK to return stolen funds to Nigeria.

“I am not going to demand any apology from anybody. What I am demanding is the return of assets,” Buhari said at a function in London.

MasterofNL:
What is the best way to show your wife that you are not happy with her?

I mean when you are so offended at her.

I am thinking:

1. Stop eating her food. Go out and buy your own food and refuse to eat whatever she cooks.

2. Turn your back to her on the bed and don't make love to her.

3. Don't reply her when she talks to you or asks any question; just ignore her.

What you guys think?
If am angry with you, I can't just eat your food period. I don't have to pretend about that.

If any body sees it as imaturity good still. Why can't your partner be matured enough to stop doing silly things all the timehuh
CrimeRe: Ronke Shonde’s Sister Denies Lekan Shonde’s Claims by justiz5(m): 4:17pm On May 11, 2016
vorigan:

Fresh revelations from the Bewajis, Lekan Shonde’s in-laws, have rubbished the accounts of the alleged killer of always providing for the family, leaving his two cars for Ronke and catching her philandering with a manager in the packaging company she worked.

Lekan Shonde, 51, was described as an intensely jealous and insecure husband. The Ogun state indegene who surrendered on Monday, May 9, four days after his wife was discovered lifeless in their Egbeda-Idimu apartment on Friday, May 6, is said to be a recklessly violent man.

From the account of Bolatito, the only surviving sibling of Ronke, Lekan’s explanations are far from the truth.

Here are 10 shockers from Bolatito’s interview with Punch…

1. Lekan’s first physical abuse was in 2012. And the most recent was in December 2015, which almost led Ronke packing out of the house. She had agreed to leave, but changed her mind later. The case was even reported to the police.

2.Ronke, whose brother just passed on, was crying while Bolatito, on instructions of their mum, was begging her to leave him, that December 2015.

3. A pastor and landlady on their street begged on behalf of Lekan Shonde. And she stayed, in spite of the warning.

4. The recent source of rancour was a love child brought by his baby mama. The discovery shattered Ronke. And Lekan was pleading and begging, even volunteering to do a DNA test, which he never did.

5. The love child expose turned Ronke into a quieter woman who stopped talking to her husband.

6. Bolatito claimed Ronke never had a relationship outside wedlock. That it was Lekan’s jealousy and insecurity that fueled his suspicion. That the manager mentioned had a professional relationship with Ronke.

7. On many occasions, three other colleagues of Ronke had been accused of dating her. That even male Facebook friends have been embarrsssed by useless accusations.

8. Lekan kept vigil in front of their house to see who would drop his wife. And accuse her of adultery.

9. The children school fees were sometimes paid by the Bewajis, contrary to Lekan’s account of providing for the family. And sometimes rent. That before she died, she was struggling to raise N70,000 to replace the gear box of her car.

10. Lekan constantly went through Ronke’s phones to see if she was cheating. And constantly trailed her to check if she had lovers.

This man is very wicked and a disgrace to manhood, if all these allegations are true.

I therefore withdraw my harsh conclusions and unnecessary venting of anger in the other thread.
