The group said: “We launched our Operation Crocodile Tears at exactly 10pm last night by blowing up oil pipelines/installations at Kporghor Community in Tai local government area of Rivers state. “This is in continuation of our struggle against the Nigerian government led by the former military dictator Muhammadu Buhari for the continuous marginalisation of the Niger Delta people. “It is true that the Nigerian economy is currently in recession, we shall continue our offensive against the federal government’s properties, oil installations until the Muhamadu Buhari led FG will begin to shed CROCODILE TEARS, if our demands are not urgently met.” The militants earlier announced five demands to the administration of President Buhari. The group asked to be allowed to control the oil output in the Niger Delta area and to celebrate activists who died during the struggle for better life for the oil-rich region among others. In the actual sense, the gang claimed that, they carried out the operation because the victim made no move to help them in their quest to seek for greener pastures abroad, stressing that they wanted to use the car to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir. The ‘real organizer’, Kingsley Davis, said the victim was their neighbour in Jos, adding that he was the one that brought up the idea before others bought into it. He said: “My team members are my neighbours and friends. “We were just discussing when the idea came up. Contrary to what they said, we did not beat him up. We only used the knife to threaten him and take the car that we wanted to borrow for the Sallah break. After the operation, we left Jos and came to Lagos to meet our contact person. We were on the way when somewhere in Ajangbadi, the police stopped us. The rest is history.” For 26-year-old Ugochukwu Ebuka, although six of them planned the attack, only three of them participated in the operation. He said: “It took us one week to conclude plans of how to carry out the attack. It was Kingsley, who brought the information about the house. On that fateful day, we arrived the house around 10:00a.m. “Joe knocked on the gate and a few minutes later, an elderly man emerged from inside the compound. He opened the gate. At first, we did not know that it was Onazi’s father. Three of us tried to force our way into the compound but the man resisted. He appeared drunk that morning, so we overpowered him. We wrestled him to the ground. We told him we were not going to harm him and that we only wanted his money. We discovered that the old man lived alone. There was no guard at the gate. No cook or wife, but just him alone in a big house. “Joe held a cutlass, but we did not use it on him. We asked for money but he said he had none. We searched the sitting room. Later, we went into his bedroom. I think he gave us just N5,000 and his ATM card. We took a bag containing two pairs of canvas on our way out. We collected the keys of the Toyota Highlander packed in front of the house and drove away. “We threw the ATM card away because it was not functioning. It was Kingsley who organised the operation, but he did not participate. Kingsley was angry with the old man because he felt that he was not assisting anybody. He lives alone and never bordered about any other person. “It was Kingsley, who also planned our movement to Lagos. He told us that he had contacted someone. When we left the place we hid the car at Feringhana area of Jos to allow the heat to die down. Three hours later, we headed towards Lagos. We arrived Ajangbadi on Tuesday and we stayed in a hotel. We met Osita Ezeana at a drinking joint at Ajangbadi. We told him we had a car to sell. We had not agreed at a price when the police arrested us.” Another suspect, one Joseph Ozo, a graduate of the University of Jos, said the gang called him because he is an expert in driving. He said: “I am a graduate but I was invited into this operation by Kingsley. I followed them for the operation but my job was to drive, which I did after I had collected the key.” The Lagos police boss, Fatai Owoseni, who paraded the suspects, said the criminals were probably heading to Seme border, Badagry where they intended to sell the car. AN ELECTORAL TENURE IN NIGERIA IS FOUR YEARS AND NOT SIXTEEN YEARS. By Bemgba Iortyom. A certain line of thought appears to be gaining currency with supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria, that since the PDP did sixteen years in power it is unfair to analyse the performance of the ruling party yet being it only over a year in power. They are also quick to dash under the cover of blaming the sixteen years of PDP rule for all the hardship being faced by Nigerians under the watch of the ruling party. But facts which are on the other hand gaining ascendency are that sixteen years is not an electoral tenure in Nigeria, a tenure is only four years and getting even an additional one of another four years is becoming more and more difficult with the prevailing realities of the times. The electoral franchise is coming more and more into the custody of the people as such securing it is no more conditional on being the ruling party, but on performance posted in office. Nigerians will not be reckoning that since PDP did sixteen years we will also wait for sixteen years before assessing the performance of the APC. No. Neither will Nigerians be attributing their immediate problems to the sixteen years of the PDP era. No, they are demanding solutions from the APC in the present, because that, in the first place, was the core basis of the contract entered into between the people and the APC at the 2015 elections. They are demanding affordable living conditions from the APC in the present and not from the PDP of yesterday, and this is a just demand from Nigerians because the APC promised it to them. At the next round of elections the talking points will be about APC rule of four years and not about PDP rule of the past and gone sixteen years. This is as yet a silent but salient fact. Please don't help anybody (especially Strangers) to operate an Automated Teller Machine (ATM), not even a sympathetic plea should convince you. The card might have been stolen and the operator's picture will be recorded on the transaction. Always refer them to the security personnel. Some persons are in amess right now because of it. Beloved, it is not about the physical, it is the size, you can't know the size from afar so come close, build a relationship first but remember 'you are not permitted to try it before you buy it'.
