Hmmm, nice topic. I am at similar cross road as you, you can actually buy and maintain an average car with that salary but before you do ask yourself the following questions?
1. Can I do without the car?
2. Will this car slow down or hasten my financial progress?
3. Can I get a direct foreign used car that would give less issues ( if not na the car go drive you)
4. What if I lose my job or company shut down?
5. What if the car get destroyed in an accident ( God for bid) ?

As for me, I have kept buying a car on hold , i am using the money to fund a business plan that can buy me a better car within a year.

This is the best time to make quick moves in life, a car would slow you down now, while you feel you have arrived.

And mind you, not only car expenses would increase, when you have a car , you would like to hang out more, that's extra money going.

I doubt you can comfortably buy a car with less issues, so what's the point - you spend less on maintenance if the availability of the car is at least 80% and mean time between failure is high ( only engineers would understand this).

It is not uncommon to see various candidates especially governorship and presidential aspirants to have posters with their deputies, however most posters of the PDP flag bearer for lagos state gubernatorial elections, JIMI AGBAJE can be seen without a deputy.
Could this be that he is not actually in the race and just seeking attention or he doesn't have a deputy, because if he does, we should know the person.

Your comment is in order, only that i think you are being sentimental, yes family is very important, but the money was meant for another purpose (business), and she could have told him about the family issue. Does it mean that her family issues wouldn't have been sorted if he hadn't given her the money? she should have stuck to the plan(that's integrity). however it is not a good reason to break up with her, at least she didn't buy an iphone with the money. she is still a good lady, just talk to her and let her know you are not happy, i am sure she would change and trust me if she actually used the funds to sort out her family, God would provide.

I would have advised you quit your job, and be your own boss but you have a family and they come first... quitting your job would have been less consequential if you were still single but 59k is quite small.
