Nigerians have been dying for months, yet they didn't make the front page on Sky news - 2 people who shouldn't be in the volatile Northern Nigeria in the first place died, so all Nigerians have to start crying, huh? Get a life!! You are a bloody plonker, who told that i'm British? Why should Skynews be the first to carry the news of Nigerian death? What happened to NTA and other independent news channels in Nigeria? Just get over your confused self. |

If you're not Nigeria, why can't take your silly story to poundland.com or dailymail.co.uk?!? The honest truth is that, no one in Nigeria cares about this non-story. R.I.P to the dead - but Nigerians could give two fu.cks about this news. If the same British didn't make the North as powerful as it is today - maybe this would never have happened. oraclefemi: Hello Nairalanders please i am in dire need of advice for a friend, his step brother who happens to be a uk citizen wants to invite him over for a visit and he has agreed to send the following His British passport scan page Letter of invitation Birth Certificate Tenancy agreement Receipt of utility bills such as electricity and water bills , please we are wondering if he should include his bank statement even though my friend is the one sponsoring the trip Now the major problem is that my friend owns a share in the company(also director) he plans to use as sponsor for the trip and the funds is in a joint account with the other director in the company pls note that the other director is aware of his plans to use funds from the companies joint account. Please how do we go about this ? as a director he doesnt receive pay slips or have any payment in the name of the company paid into his account because they share profits as it comes(transport company) so will we have issues with pay slips? my friend has the following documents to back his finances newly opened zenith bank account with 230k in it gtbank account with 1m in it but over the past 6 months the account has a lot of transactions made in and out of it mutual benefit policy certificate for 2m intercontinental account balance for 200k and 1m in fixed deposit tax clearance of the company shares certificate of 3 different banks receipts of purchase of landed properties not c of o investment policy receipt from arm investment managers for over 3m
He listed all this to me because of the uk website asking for means for finances and also anything to show he is well established here and will return back.Is this above listed enough or too much and since the funds and investments surpasses what the company account holds (3m)
the thing is he doesnt earn from only this company because he is into other business hustle here(oil tankers) and there so please advice on which steps will be best for him to take. Please advice is needed urgently
Thank you and also at justwise i will send you an email The issue of payslip/ proof of payment from the company may be an issue but he need to explain that in the application form, if he wants to use the joint account with the other directors then he has to get their written consent else its better he leaves that one out. His step-brother need to add his bank statement/payslip |

iseg007: @ Justwise, Keep on giving the right advise as you have help soo many people including a few friends i know on NL.
My own experience
I came to the UK in 2008 and i had a PLAN, i did masters in Technology Mgmt, one thing i made sure of was to pay my school fees and that was very important. £13500 (no be small money ooo) and came into the country with only £2000. One thing i did was to talk to alot of pple who were already in the UK as what the best job to go for and also where to live, I did my reasearch beforehand and made a plan. Luckily I had an uncle living in south london, so they took me in, but when they turn me into houseboy and i was sleeping on the floor and to read was a problem because they expect you to cook, clean, bath their children and all other house chores. It got to a point they were passing me to other inlaws that i was not even related to, I then knew it was time to leave. But during this period i applied to every single job you can imagine, I did Cleaning, Work in a hotel as "Room service" (What did i not see!!), Labourer (Imagine bricklayers that i use to look at them like poo, I now began the one carrying bags of cement up and down ), i worked in asda and Tescos, WHAT DID I NOT DO TO SURVIVE, at the end of the day i was only going home with £150 a week. and i was doing more than 20 hours a week.
Luckily because i had a plan i was saving like crazy, and how did i do it
- I did not go Clubbing at all, you see naija students working 25hrs and then finish all the money on two bottles of Moet, SHM - I did not have a girlfriend (but some few away much), having a girlfriend requires a lot, Time, energy and Money, - I had a budget every month for food and once in a while by cloths. (Primark na my Thomas Pink ) - I neva bought any books as I used only library books - I got a sim-only contract so i was paying £10 a month for my fone - I moved to a shared house where i was paying £250 for a single room (All inclusive)
But it was not easy, you had to see how naija pple were treating me like an outcast, like i don't belong. because I did not act they way they did, I had friend who will put nice pictures on facebook wearing so very expensive clothes with white babes drinking moet, then 3 days after they will come to my house to beg for £5, enough said
I was able to save about £2500 at the end of my masters, luckily i got the PSW and then went on to do alot of IT certifications, Now I am working with a top America IT company.
- You have to have a Plan - Mix with the right people - Don't be like some people who will be hoarding information, learn to share. - Be Very FOCUS - Do not go into a relationship if you can not afford it, with regards to time, money and energy. - As JUSTWISE said ensure you pay you fees from naija, dont try and come to the UK to work and pay fees because u will SUFFER - Dont go and be poping Moet when you are cleaning tolilet or buying Gucci shoes, expect you want to do fraud and trust me you will be caught. - Learn how to save, even if it is £1 a week, try,
Learning a trade is another way to go forward, as you can truly make a lot of money, but again be focus and learn.
There is also the UK experience wahala when looking for a Job(Gist for later) Really happy to read from you, you kept focused and it pays up, congrat and good luck with your future plans. |
Bros, the amount of money spent on defence budget does NOT in any way signify prowess and should NOT be use as the ONLY yardstick in determining capabilities between countries. Do you know the unit cost of a 5th generation chinese fighter jet? Compare the prices between let say US F22 raptor to chinese J20 or Russian Sukhoi 47. The cost of a single US jet could triple russian and chinese plane of thesame class! The US military hardwares are usually very expensive, hence, the high cost of defence. Besides, the US is involved in multiple wars i.e Afghan and Iraq wars which requires large amonut of money to nourish. The last time I checked, the war in Iraq is costing US 1 billion dollar/day to sustain. -360 billion dollars*** When you subtract the cost of fighting in Iraq and Afghan and remove the extra cash needed to cushion the high price of purchasing hardwares in US in relation to China, you would be left with no option than to give it to China. Secondly, have you factor in the disparaties between personnel welfare and allowances? Do you know the amount costing China to maintain a soldier on average basis? How much is the minimum wage in US? How much is the cost of training or retraining a single pilot in US in relation to China? All the aforemention must be considered before arriving at a good conclusion . . .You don't just look at blind figures and shout eureka! Do the math bro, do the math! No one is arguing the military capability of US in warfare, but China has equally crossed the threshold and CAN NOT be threaten by US from any angle. Nuff
Point of correction, US is not fighting any war in Iraq anymore, US minitary pulled out last year. US has more advanced minitary hardware compared to China and China never denined that, not even Russia does. No matter how much it cost US to train their pilot and other minitary personnels, the truth is that they are far better than China and do your research and come and prove me wrong. No country in the world spend and produce the type of minitary hardware as US does, China need to match Russia before thinking of pairing with US. The cost of producing those hardwares is taken care of by the budget, so it doesn't matter how much it cost them, the fact still remain that they have the latest money can buy. |

EmmaIK: @Justwise. Gudmorning. I have a question about finances. I've had the money for my fees and living expenses in my account for about 6mnths, but so that I won't spend it, I put it in a fixed deposit till april. The earliest I can apply for my visa is 10th June. My question is fo I have to leave the funds for another 28 days again? As wen I fixed the funds, it was debited and removed from my account and shows up as ”transfer for investment to Oceanic bank" in my statement of account. To avoid any issue with the 28days thing, remove a chunk of money from that account by say. . . . first week of May and pay it back then start accounting the 28days so that by 10th of June or 9th of June it will clocked 28days. The 28days count starts when you have the complete amount of money required in your account. |

So if you can learn a handwork most especially the plumber stuff, you can make it big. Don't go around saying that alot before you get your gf nicked as foreign students are not allowed to run a business no matter how small, only if your gf is employed by somebody and earns salary. ritux: mr justwise, i get your point but at the same time, it depends on what you mean by being prepared financially. i am not the type who spend extravagantly. i actually came to the UK with £4500 as my maintenance money to cover me till august when i will round up the program. last year i did not work because i wanted to see how my result will be like and like i said earlier, i had three A and one B. i had friends working since sept when we came in and they also did well. Between sept and dec i spent less than £1500. i buy food stuffs like garri, indomine, plantain and and stuffs to cook soup from the african shop though a little bit expensive but stuffs like onion, chicken, veg oil, eggs, tomatoes etc i get them from asda and tesco which are of reasonable price far better than the price i will get them from the african shop. the point i am trying to make here is that i dont spend up to £30 in feeding for a week and I work £74.4 every week for 12hrs.
though i will not advice anyone to come here without paying your tuition fee and getting were to stay. That was my whole point, 12hrs or 20hrs work is not enough for anybody who is not prepared financially before coming to the UK, prepared financially i meant having your fees and atleast 5-6 months rent, £74 x4 can only pay your rent and you still have to pay bills and eat. With your £4500 you can decide not to work and you will be fine as long as you spend within ur limit. |
