anishe: There is a lot of misinformation going on in Nairaland. I am presently studying in the UK and i have no reason whatsoever to regret my coming to the UK for studies.
Call to Nigeria Landlines is at the rate of 1P per minute. In fact, i had to ask my wife to get a Starcomm Line that starts with 01- for me to always communicate with her. I call my wife more than 10 ttimes a day because it is cheaper. Mind you, if u get starcomm that starts with 070 or any 080 or 081 number, the rate is 8p per minutes. Moreso, the service providers have been so generous. If you recharge £20 online, a bonus of £10 is to be added to your phone instantly. Can you point it out? |

ikanya: Gerrard95, it is very clear that you mistake the Syria issue with the Arab spring in North Africa and the Middle East. I want you to have a clear picture of what is going on in Syria. The situation in Syria is not same with the Libian, Egyptian, Tunisian and Yamenese issues. While in these places I mentioned, you have popular protests demanding for reforms or regime change, you have in Syria armed group backed by Western powers Killing both civilians and members of Syrian Government Forces. Assad is an independent minded leader who strongly believe in resistance as a means of preserving the integrity and resources of his people. This position does not go down well with the US and her allies and they now resorted to arming a group that are made up of defected Syrian and mercenaries to create the Libian-like situation in Syria so that NATO would give the Libian-like response in Syria. Libians protested against Kaddafi while Syrians are rallying around Assad. You can now see why Russia and China vetoed against the resolution on Syria. Don’t be deceived by the Western rhetoric. How have the so-called defenders of human rights responded Bahraini situation? They are busy selling arms to the government to suppress and kill it’s own people. And how have they responded to the agitation in Yamen. By supporting the killing, and when saw the determination of the Yamenese, they decided to ease the tension with a single candidate elections- So much for democracy, Gerrard. Those pretending to fight for human rights in Syrian are blind to the crackdown and killings in Saudi Arabia. Gerrard, please, do not take the facial values of what the Americans and her Western allies tell you. Try always to look deeper. The same conspiracy theory we heard from many of you here during Libyan war, yes lets blame NATO and the west, the blame game goes on. |

Mekky2010: Medvedev not Putin, probably listened to people like you who felt Libyans were crying for help, that could explain why they abstained, after "helping" Libya, its time to "help" Syria, next time when you ask for help remember what Huntington said "It's immoral for America to send their troops to other countries to stop them from killing themselves except in pursuit of its national interest" if he cannot stop them everywhere, he can stop them from balkanizing his country, I mean he can stop them from helping him and his country,
As for copy copy, dont forget that the only chance of getting to International space Station rests on SOYUZ Medvedev was just a figure head, Putin run the show from background, some of you are still dancing around in vein, what has Putin stops the west from doing during his previous two terms as a president? I will be so happy if the west stay far away from Syria, let see what will happen to Russia's interest in that country. One thing is sure, Syria will not be the same again and Russia and China will kiss good by to their interests in Syria at the end. |

ikanya: Vladimir Putin's return is a big plus and a great positive for the world. Putin has been a big figure checkmating the American and Western imperialist hegemony. In my thinking, Putin must have worked very hard to forge the RUSSIA+CHINA ties in the UN Security Council. This China-Russia alliance has, as could be seen at the moment, become an affront to the oligarchic powers, America's arrogance, the evil mechanization and military diplomacy of the US and her Western allies. To the West, Putin is "a world terrorist". Time has come now for the Western World to put a stop to their terrorist acts and Putin has championed that fight. My question still remain: What did he do in his previous terms as a president? Is Putin new in world political scene? America and their allies wasn't there when Putin was in power? |

calebo101: Hi all, my sponsor has withdrawn the 2 million naira in my account due to an emergency situation and i intend to apply for my student visa by wednesday next week. Although the money has been in my account for over 28 days. If i apply for the visa with an account statement of 27th febuary, would i be successful.? I have met all other conditions but i'm at a loss at the sudden turn of events. Can i apply when the money has been withdrawn/? But i have kept it for more than 28 days. Pls advise me oh so i do not waste the visa fee if i would not be successful. Of course if you applied and they called up and find out that there is no money in your account, you will be refused a visa and ban for 10yrs for lying in your application form. I mean, how will you apply for student visa with an empty bank account? Why not wait until the money is returned and clocked 28days? |

How can your gf's friend commit her own money for you to visit your gf? How important is that visit that others have to pay for it?. patwolex: I want to go to U.K as a tourist, my father is my sponsor, what are the documents I'll need for them to giv me visa? Thanks Do you work or own business in Nigeria? Is your daddy self-employed or how financially strong is your daddy? To be brutally honest with you, if you are an adult of employment and marriage age, getting a visiting visa by being sponsored by any family member will be difficult. You will find it difficult to convince the ECO that you will be coming back to Nigeria if given a visa. |

This is not the news you want to get but i have to say it. . . the chances of you getting a visa is remotely slim. If you are over 18 yrs of age, no good job or business, no constant source of income in Nigeria, getting a visiting visa will be almost impossible. Your sister is not financially strong enough to sponsor you and you don't have a strong tie to Nigeria. |
Bros it's good to have advocates and naija Ambassadors like you but what that young man said is the truth! You said "some" which is the right word or English to use since it's not everybody in naija that's that way but in a situation where 70% or more are like that makes it feel like it's everybody! I sometimes feel that way myself when am in naija! The stress, begging, and asking starts from the airport wheather you're flying in or out! And that's almost all you see throughout your stay. The guy that change money want to give you less for more $, why? Because you almost can't change your money in our so called bank! The guy that pumped your fuel want to give you less! why? Because his pump is either faulty, old, or you're not looking! The person that sold you so called "ice or cold" water knows very well that that water hasn't been anywhere close to ice or fridge within the last 5 hours! You're expected to pay more than others because you drive a nice car or neatly dressed! And so on! And this is not the experience of one or two people. Ask 10 people who just visited naija like a month or week ago to take that survey, 8/9 if not all will come up with negative answers! Though they're wrong and frustrating but people will still proudly tell you "na so e be for naija"
llbhuds: It suprises me when some peeps still try to promote the image of naija to we her citizens that sees and encounter d elements of corruption whenever we are in naija or having something to do with a fellow naija abroad. if over 60% of d total population dat sat for an exam failed, logically we say der is a mass failure in d said exam. Sayin not all naija is corrupt is even a corrupt statement itself let alone the fact that its even a lie. I still stand by what i said before, there are far more decent Nigerians than the bad eggs, you hear more of the bad news because it sales. if 70% of Nigerians are crooks then the whole world will look for another planet to move to. Its an insult to every Nigerian out there keeping his or her nose out of trouble to be called a criminal. |

SOTAJ: Thanks a million justwise. I think we will just reapply this coming week cos all logistics are already in place for the trip this Easter (infact, i was about to confirm our ticket booking just told the lady to wait till monday). We will include the marriage certificate and even wedding pictures like you advised. we will even include pictures of the naming ceremony and other pictures to corroborate our proof.
I just thought maybe a one or two paragraph response from the high commission (I hope they would reply my mail anyway) would also be nice if I print and also enclose when reapplying or what do you feel?
Justiwe,
I was just thinking, I hope i get a response to email to the High Commission but if not, should we refer to this initial decision while reapplying next week (iI know there is a column for that) or just be silent?
Then you said we should submit same documents plus the ones not included initially (do we submit the same statements of account too? Considering that it is already over 2 weeks for the initial application)? Your responses are appreciateed as ever. Doing that can only enhance your chances of getting it this time around, so there is nothing wrong with that. |

You may not get a reply from them, even if you do, it will not change the decision of the ECO. Yes submit the same bank statement as long as the money is still intact. |

SOTAJ: 1) Letter of Introduction (From my place of work and my wife's stating my boy's name)
2) 6 months payslip (for the 2 of us)
3) Our current visa pages (still valid, 2 years)
4) Statement of account ( the 2 of us)
5) Fixed deposit letters
6) 3 different pictures of the 3 of us
7)Letter of consent
Invitation letter /Mortgage/utility
9) Photocopy of his birth certificate (Original sighted by the lady that recieved the package)
I guess the guy did not have any issue with other supporting documents, just that he said he could not establish that we were the real parents. I wonder how else he expected us to proof that (maybe he expected us to enclose DNA result .lol). I did an epistle to the High Commissioner this evening cos i was really pained. I just want to start preparing for the likely outcome pending the response from the high commissioner. I can understand why you are angry, though you missed your marriage certificate in the list, re-apply with the same set of documents but this time around add your marriage certificate, wedding pictures, family pictures, pictures of your baby e.g. when he was 2 months old, 4 and 6, if those pictures are family picture then good. I know it sounds silly but sometimes you have to proof beyond every reasonable doubt that the baby is yours. |

SOTAJ: Quote from: SOTAJ on January 10, 2012, 02:57 PM Hello All,
I'd like to use this medium to really commend everybody that has contributed to shedding light on peoples' dark areas on this forum. You guys are really doing great and I'd appreciate if some light is shed on an issue for me as well.
My wife intends to spend her vacation in the UK with our 6 month old boy come April.
The issue here is that both my wife and I have valid visas to the Uk having been there on vacation couple of times, but my boy doesn't.
My question now is, what documents will be required for his own visa application and how do we go about it (ie} can we apply for him alone as an individual?
Your responses will be highly appreciated.
We submitted the application for my boy's visa last week and got a response that the decision was ready, but on getting the parcel today, my boy was refused based on a dummy conclusion by the entry calrance officer that they could not establish the relationship between us and our son even after enclosing all the necessary documents in the application. A photocopy of the birth certificate was also enclosed. Although I have already written the High Commissioner from my office this evening, Please what do you think should be done next (reapply)?
Justwise you inputb is needed here please, other advices are welcome please Can you list the documents you submitted? |
