Celebrities › Re: Fake P-square’s Manager Swindles French Promoter N15m by justwise(m): 3:38pm On Mar 18, 2012
princedant: As you read this story, a French show promoter is biting his fingers and regretting. Reason, he was swindled off $100, 000 USD (N15 million) by a fake P-Square’s manager.

According to sources, the road to ‘magahood’ began late last year when the French promoter, eager to bring the singing sensation to France had gone to, of all places, Facebook and Twitter to launch a search for P-Square.

His search led him to phony Facebook and Twitter IDs purportedly belonging to the manager of the twins in France. Sources say the ID belonged to an Igbo guy, who claimed he had acquired the franchise to manage P-Square in France for two years.

While we are not sure whether it was ‘juju’ or sheer brain he used, what we are sure of is that the Frenchman, believing he was talking with the right person transferred a whopping $100, 000 USD into the account of the fake P-Square’s manager.

However, it soon dawned on him that he had been swindled after the fake P-Square’s manager stopped taking his calls and so he raised the alarm but it was too late, the account into which the money was wired had been cleaned out and the fake manager had popped into the blue.
Reacting to the story, an ex-PMAN president, who did not want his name in print, had lamented thus: “This is tragic! The fault lies with the artistes who wouldn’t join a union. If there is a real union, things like this would not happen because the union would be the first port of call for any show promoter from any part of the world wanting to do business with Nigerian artistes.

“This kind of stuff happens all the time. It has happened to D’banj and a number of other artistes and I believe it’s their fault.”

Meanwhile, we hear that the French show promoter is leaving no stone unturned in fishing out the culprit and is currently making efforts to reach out to security agencies in the country.
Off the Stage will keep you posted as events unfold.

Its good that Button fired a warning shot from the first race, LH will come back fighting in Malaysia. One thing i like with McLaren team is that they allow those two drivers to have a go at each other without 'team-order' unlike what we see with Red Bull and Ferrari

LH just did not do it for me today, had high hopes for him before the start but. . .it all went. . .well wrong, RedBull to me is still a team to beat though i don't want to see them winning every pole-position and went on to win the race as well like they did last season.

The company is a business consultant outfit and in Lagos State.

That is what we can disclose for now according to your enquiry, our deeds and not words, are what count most. We want you to know that it is not compulsory that the name of the advertised company is disclosed and this practise is prevalent in the consultancy and/or business world. In this vain, we owe you no explanation or apology on whatever you may think as every time anyone opens his/her mouth in the presence of a person who has an abundance of knowledge, the exact stock of knowledge or lack of it is displayed which inevitably make or mar their outlook, journey, failure or success.
Only dull brain like you will fall for this cheap con. international company indeed.

Crime › 3 Nigerians In The UK In Court For £1.7m Fraud. by justwise(op): 5:26pm On Mar 17, 2012
£1.7m ‘con’ by JobCentre staff

JOBCENTRE staff swindled £1.7million by hijacking identities and making thousands of false benefit claims, a court has heard.

The Nigerian-born gang are accused of ripping off nearly £900,000 in tax credits over five years by submitting claims using names, dates of births and addresses raided from the Department of Work and Pensions' confidential database.

They are also said to have netted another £820,000 in bogus claims for Sure Start Maternity Grants — a one-off £500 payment to support pregnant women.

They backed these claims by forging the signatures of midwives, nurses and doctors, Croydon Crown Court in South London was told. The cash was said to have been paid into accounts they had set up.
Prosecutor Andrew Evans said Anthony Ekajeh, 48, of Rainham, Essex, played a "principal" role in the fraud while an executive officer at the Dagenham JobCentre in East London.

He denies conspiracy to defraud along with Fiayo Akinwumiju, 35, of Coulsdon, Surrey, and Olufemi Kehinde, 47, of Acton, West London, who worked in other branches.

Three others are being tried in their absence and a seventh man admitted three charges at an earlier hearing. The trial continues.
Hello,
My case is peculiar.
Up until December 2011, I worked in a bank. I quit my job after I got my admission for my course which is to begin on the 26th of March.
and run for a little less than 6 months.
To keep busy, I began doing some work from home through my company which I had registered in December 2011 as well. I didnt have
a corporate account due to the fact that I was scheduled to leave soon and also because i had to get a Tax number so my clients paid
directly into my personal account.

I applied for a Student Visitor visa and was refused on the following grounds.

1. I am not satisfied you have provided me with an accurate record of your situation and employment in Nigeria.
You have stated that you currently run a business and have submitted a certificate of registration of business
name to this effect. However you have not provided sufficient evidence that the company is still trading for example
documents showing profit and turnover, a company bank statement and income tax papers.

2. You have stated that you receive a personal monthly income. However you have not submitted sufficient evidence
to substantiate this claim, for example a personal bank statement showing your stated monthly income and personal
tax papers establishing that your income is as claimed.

My school allows late resumption up until the 2nd of April. I want to reapply but I need suggestions on how best to
do it.

Thanks.
The ECO has clearly pointed out where you went wrong, its simply case of you addressing those points raised by the ECO

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/online/where/?langname=null

My mistake. I scheduled an appointment thru the VFS website.

Letter of intro from my employer
Letter of invitation (from the UK school )to attend the graduation ceremony
Statement of result I got from the school
Statement of account (salary account)
Reference letter from my bank.
six months payslip
Employment letter
How about accommodation? You need to make hotel reservation for the duration of your stay in the Uk and pay for it, print the receipt and attach it to your visa application package.
Hello Justwise and ADEGBYTE,

You guys (and indeed everyone on this thread) are doing a great job. Welldone

I completed an online application for a General Visitor visa (my first visa application) some days ago and scheduled a visa appointment for the last week of March. Please I need your opinion on some concerns

1). I earn about 150k monthly (after tax) but my annual gross pay is about 3 million (I get a lumpsum payment of about 800k once in a year). I however receive extra bonuses and allowances of up to 600k. When completing the online application, i used the 150k figure as that is what i get regularly... hope this won't be an issue?

2). I intend travelling to the UK to attend my graduation ceremony ( i did one of these online degree programmes) and this coincides with my annual leave. The letter of intro I got from my employer only states that I should be on leave during the period I intend travelling. I don't intend spending up to a week in the UK cos I have some other special plans for my annual leave. I wrote in my application that my main reason for travelling is to attend my graduation.
Hope this won't affect my chances?

3). I made an hotel reservation and I got a confirmation email, I was however requested to pay for one nights accommodation. Though, I have a dollar mastercard, I couldn't pay with it as I didn't trust the payment process so I gave a friend my reservation details and he went to the hotel and paid cash for 3 nights.
The confirmation email I later got states clearly that I paid cash.
Hope this is not an issue?

4). I lent out about 400k to a sibling since August last year and he paid back about two weeks ago. This led to about 25% rise in my balance. I hope this won't be misinterpreted?

Your advise is needed so I can put measures in place to ensure the outcome of the visa interview will be positive.

Thanks.

Has British embassy in Nigeria started accepting online visa application? British embassy hardly conduct interviews for visa applicants, its normally paper based decision.

Can you list all documents you tend to submit? Please check very well about the online form you completed, i'm not sure BHC has started online visa application for Nigerians.

As regards the tax clearance they each have and pay the amt required for people who own a school / hotel or hospital..
You will write the current month balance as shown in the bank statement while you make a side note stating that monthly balance varies.
