JUstwise, Justwise, of all people i would expect you to have a calmer head,
this situation that has developed it not good for Libya, Africa or
the wider world as a whole.

It started out as protest and then the protesters were given weapons by whomhuhMore People are dying now because of these so-called No-fly zone air-strikes whichis just a blank cheque to bomb any part of Libya as the EU/NATO/USA desire.
Let us all be sober and mature in our comments here as our
back-yard is being bombed and could well set an *uncalled fore Precedent*
in Africa,
Who started shooting the protesters? How many pple died BEFORE the UN came in? So u think its cool for innocent pple to die cos they wanted a change of govt?

this is my opinion in libya crisis, let say the fact here, some of the people are of the opinion that gaddafi should step down from power after a long time in,yes good and fine, they should have demonstrated that by marching on the street and not by carrying weapon fighting against the government of the day making them to be called rebels, now we all know that rebel is a bad name so why is the western supporting rebel now, every body knows their interest is the libyan oil so united nation expect rebels with weapon who chase government security and was killing them in order to chase gaddafi out so gaddafi should fold his hands and watch them, no, if there is nobody behind this why did`nt they behave like their egyptian and tunisian neighbour . now africa expecially nigeria the giant of africa, which african nation is better than libya in terms of good living and income, since the crisis began, i have not seen any one complain of poverty or unemployment, all the people i have been seeing were all living fine, i heard that every libyan citizens collect salary, well someone should tell me if i`m going wrong, they only complain that they don`t have freedom of speech to critised gaddafi, we all know that all over the world u can not talk against government of the day, you have job, live in a good house drive nice car, good water and steady power supply and that is not enough, you want to change government that will say no more payment of salary to you if you are not working. here in my country you will work for ten years and you cannot afford to buy a car not to talk of building your own house, what i`m happy for gaddafi for is that nobody have accused him of corruption so libyan take my advice and let the sleeping dog to lie
ncpat how old are you?

I think enforcing "no Fly Zone" should mean ensure "nothing flies", why are all the war planes in the world heading towards Libya , flying over the country freely and dropping bombs over so called targets, killing innocent souls. One would think that they would shoot down Gadaffi plane if they tried to break the "no fly rule". Arab leaders have been deceived again with "Oyinbo".
grin grin grin grin i did not see that!!! This made my DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No-Fly-Zone also mean protecting the planes from been shot at by Ghadaffi's ant-aircraft, no-fly-zone can't work with Ghadaffi's defence capabilities still active. The Arab league called for No-fly-Zone b4 the UN stepped in.

No I'm not joking. Please change your Id, your statements dont reflect the poster.

Survivalistshuh carry guns to fight the government when diplomacy is on the table. I agree Ghadaffi's forces were wrong to gun down the protesters. But this is not the only country where dat happened. Have u heard of what happened in Bahrain, where 2000 troops from Saudi arabia were imported to deal with protesters with many dead till date. U think if Bahrainians carry guns against their king and do the same that happened in East Libya, they won't be suppressed by killings? But there are better ways of solving situations rather than going on with violence and renouncing your country's government. Diplomacy is on the table, that's what im advocating for. Violence never yields good.

On the opposition, please remember Libya is a Nation of about 7 million people. The population of the East where the revolt is going on are less than 2 million. So you wanna tell me those who are not fighting Ghadaffi are dumb?
You are really a strange man, so pple should keep quiet as they are been killed by their govt? Do you really have a heart?

The UN is only going to make the situation worse. Ghadaffi's trying to put his nation under control. He is not killing civillians, he is killing the rebels. If u take up a gun and fight against any government, u're like commiting suicide. If he was massacring his people how come it's less than 2000 dead so far. Now the UN supported by the world's superpowers now invovle themselves in this conflict that could worsen the civil war that is almost over.
I am not a Ghadaffi supporter, but I have a conscience to differentiate good from evil. If Ghadaffi was a madman, the west termed him to be why did he abandon a $500 million nuclear project for peace in Libya. He's got his problems but his country is far better than 75% of all African countries. Would a mad mothafucka achieve this. The UN's act is killing civillians and is therefore no better. I hope Saif, Ghadaffi's first son, convinces his father to give in. These counties are far more powerful than LibyaSupporting UN is being dumb and accepting whatever the world powers say and letting them give you a conscience. Diplomacy MUST be engaged to ease this issue.
Are you joking or what? Who are the rebels? I take ur whole post as a bad joke anyway.

kayuse2000:
@Justwise, you are missing my point. I want to see Gadaffi out however he has acted the way any government will act, legitimate or illegitimate. You CANNOT have one rule for Libya and another for Bahrain.
You also do not have the right (whether given by the UN) to “covertly” change the government of a sovereign state.
There were other options that could have been explored which they chose to ignore e.g
1.) THEY COULD HAVE SENT INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS IN, AUTHORISED BY THE UN.
2.) MEDIATION.
3.) SEND IN A PEACE KEEPNG FORCE IF MEDIATION FAILS.What they want is a change in government which is a dangerous precedent to set. The only people that can liberate Libya are Libyans.
Those doesn't work with Gadaffi there is no bases for killing his own pple cos they spoke out. Egypt kept the Army out of it, the army refused to kill their own pple but Gadaffi is a heartless human being, he deserve what he is getting now.

Even the Arab League has just condemned the bombings stating that it goes beyond the intended “no fly zone” agenda.
Arab League are just 2faced they backed it b4 the UN went in, now they don't have the bottle to stand by their words. The West did not go in WITHOUT Arab League and UN mandate. What were they thinking when they were calling for no-fly-zone?
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Union Demands 'immediate' Halt To Libya Attacks by justwise(m): 7:15pm On Mar 20, 2011
kayuse2000:
While I hope to see Gadaffi out of power, the west has it's own agenda, their reason is not to protect Libyans but for their own ulterior motives.
Let us for one moment ignore that Gadaffi is a dictator and ask ourselves what the British or American governments would do if “protesters” decided to arm themselves and take on the government? Would they not do what they have to do to protect their governments? This is exactly what Gadaffi has done, no different to what Bahrain has done however Bahrain has the support of Saudi Arabia and no one wants to piss Saudi Arabia off just yet because they produce 12% of the world's oil. This is a civil war, you do not take sides, you mediate and if that fails then you send in “peace keeping” troops. These western governments have considered arming the rebels, the same rebels that they will then turn on in the next 10 years, bottom line is this: IF YOU OBTAIN POWER BY THE GUN, YOU WILL RULE BY THE GUN.Even the Arab League has just condemned the bombings stating that it goes beyond the intended “no fly zone” agenda. It is important that we do not let our dislike for African dictators to cloud our judgement and reasoning, this is all about regime change and no matter how much you hate a dictator you have NO RIGHT to try to “covertly” change a sovereign state's government. As at the last time I checked 112 Tomahawk missiles had been launched at a cost of $1,000,000 each, do you think they care about Libyans that much?
Are u really serious? How many Libyan diplomas resigned cos of this? Where did the rebels get the arms? Is not from the army officials that joined the rebels? Pple are fed up!!! Gadaffi has being there for 40yrs!!!!!! is he the only Libyan? Did the west start the crisis sweeping across the arab nations? Is very easy to blame the west while we pretend that all is well.

It is horrendous to think this many Nigerian openly agreeing to prospect of UN forces in an oil producing African Nation, Its almost as if the members of MEND hosted a protest and West (in the form) of UN are trying to dissolve it. If you example, their "goal" is to remove the seamingly dictactive pdp election rigging party.
Negotiation was never an option for the west, the issue their warning (in form of light pressure) and then pushed in for battle. Gaddafi is too strong to take such loose fall, there was a time when his people love him, that generation has aged, which is most likely the reason for this. Initial dialogue could have avoided this, as the AU has supposedly done.

You have to be a foolish African to sit down at smile at the UN dropping bombs on your brothers in the name of human rights.
. . and you have to be foolish to sit and watch your fellow African killed by their own leader. Why do u need to be begged b4 u stop killing ur own pple? Why do u have to wait untill the West begged u to stop killing ur own pple?
