TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by justwise(mod):
More update will appear here.........

Overview of financial requirement

The financial requirement is that you show you have enough money to support yourself while studying in the UK. Usually you’ll need to show a set amount of money for each month of your course, for up to 9 months.

If you’re applying from overseas, or if are applying in the UK but have not been here with permission for 12 months or more, you must show that you have enough money to cover your course fees (and boarding fees, if relevant) and living costs.

You might not need to provide financial evidence if you’re from an exempt country but you should still make sure you have enough funds. UK Visas and Immigration may ask you to show that you have them.

You do not need to show funds if you are applying as a Student Union Sabbatical Officer or to study as a doctor or dentist in training.

How your finance requirement is worked out
Students

The amount of money you need to show depends on:

your course fees, which are set out on your confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) Your education provider will send you the CAS once they’ve offered you a place on a course
the length of your course
whether you have already paid some money to your sponsor
your course of study or type of student permission you are applying for
where you are studying – the amount is different if you’re studying in London
if you have paid any money to your sponsor for accommodation; up to £1,334 can be deducted from the funds you need to show
your living arrangements, if you are aged under 18
If you are allowed bring dependants (your partner or children) you will also need to show you have enough money to cover their living costs.

Child Students

The amount of money you need to show depends on:

your course fees
your boarding fees if you are boarding at the institution
the length of your course
who you are living with and where you are living
If you have children under the age of 18 who you are financially responsible for and who live with you, you are not permitted to bring them with you on the Child Student route.

Types of funds you can rely on

You can show you have enough money using:

an official financial or government sponsorship or grant
a student loan from a government, government sponsored loan company, or a regulated student loans scheme
your own money
your parent’s money (if they provide a letter confirming they agree to you using it this way)
your partner’s money if your partner is present in the UK or applying at the same time
What evidence is not accepted
The following are not accepted as evidence to show you have the required amount of money:

overdrafts
bitcoin savings
stocks and shares
pensions
bank accounts that are not regulated by the financial regulatory body in the country you’re applying from

bank accounts that don’t use electronic record keeping

Control of the funds

You, or the account holder (such as your parents or partner), must have control of the funds you are relying on.

You must show the funds have been held for 28 days, unless you are relying on a student loan or official financial sponsorship.

The bank statement(s) or evidence you use to show the funds have been held for 28 days must be from the 31 days before you submit your application. The 28 days is calculated from the date of the last transaction in the last dated bank statement.

Evidence you need to provide

If you have official sponsorship
To prove you have official financial sponsorship you need to show your reference number for confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS).

If your official financial sponsorship is not recorded on your CAS you’ll need to show a letter of confirmation from the official financial sponsor. If you are not sure ask your sponsor. The letter must show:

the date
the name of the financial sponsor
contact details of the financial sponsor
how long the sponsorship will last
the amount of money that is being given or confirmation that all of your fees and living costs will be covered
If you have a student loan
For student loans you need to show a student loan letter which:

is dated no more than 6 months before the date of application
confirms the loan is a student loan provided by either the relevant government or a government sponsored student loan company or an academic or educational loans scheme
confirms there are no conditions on release of the loan funds other than a successful application to study
confirms the amount of the loan
confirms the loan is for you
is on official stationery
confirms the funds will be available to you, or paid directly to the sponsor, before you begin your course
If you’re using your own money
If you’re not being financially sponsored or relying on a student loan, your funds can be held in any form of personal or building society account including a:

current account
deposit account
savings account
pension savings
investment account
Cash must be in an account that allows you immediate access.

Funds must have been acquired legally and if you were in the UK you must not have earned them when working illegally.

If you’re using your own money, or that of a parent or partner you’ll need to show you have the required amount of money in an account. You can provide:

bank statements
building society passbooks
certificates of deposit
a letter from your bank or building society
Your bank statement should show information like:

the date it was issued
your name (or the account holders name if it is your parent or partner)
the name of the bank or building society
balance on the account
You can provide a download of electronic bank statements as long as it has this information. You do not need to have these stamped by the bank.

We may do verification checks with your bank. If we’re unable to verify the funds your application may be refused.

Money in other currencies

If your money is held in a foreign currency this will be converted into pound sterling (£) using the spot exchange rate on OANDA for the date of the application.

The amount of money you have to show
Students
Your CAS will show your course fees.

The table below shows how much you need depending on your circumstances.

@All

I have noticed recently that a lot of people are advertising or seeking for ''proof of fund'' business here and some people here are willing to help.

So this is the deal..from now on i will not only ban those advertising it, i will also ban those seeking for one and those willing to help

If you got no money to study in the UK get a proper legal loan from a registered company or bank, don't come here to seek or advertise any illegal practices.

Thank you

Yes, my training is on the same level with masters. It's a post graduate course in Education that leads to a teaching qualification. It's for 11 months Or is there any other criteria I should have looked out for? Please let me know.
Not really a post graduate course, but keep us updated regarding the outcome.

If you got things right with the application then the delay shouldn't bother you.

Good day all,

Please I need help understanding something, I applied for a Student visa with my husband. I'm going for a PGCE Course.

I applied 20 working days ago (priority ) and no reply till now though I got a non straight forward mail 2 working days after my application.

Upon contacting the UKVI, they replied and said they are running *mandatory checks* .

Please has anyone come across this, and what does it mean?

I've contacted my banks and they said they've not been contacted by the embassy.

Please can someone explain what mandatory checks mean and the criteria they use to pick who gets checked.

@justwise @ralph @lexus and other gurus please help.

I resume physically on the 1ST of September and attendance is compulsory. With all these going on I'm at wits end on what to do!

Please I help me understand
Thank you.
You and your husband applied as students or just you?

priority Service is a waste of money thesedays as it takes longer than standard application sometimes.

They are probably checking documents you submitted.. bank statement, degree and marriage certificates.

If they are unable to get feedback from the awarding bodies on time then your application will be delayed

I believe that is a passive income and as such may not count as an hourly job as far as you did not record, edit or upload your content during school term but during holidays because it may exceed 20hr/week stipulated. Also they may not notice, but to be on a safe side do what is contain in your visa. With post study visa, you can decide to fry akara at London, roast corn in Liverpool or decide to open a provision store in Manchester grin grin
Still illegal, passive or not as long as you are getting paid for it

Please this working 20hours is it just for work in the UK? Or does it apply to working elsewhere? For example if i have a job working 30hrs in Dubai, is it in breach of my visa conditions? I like to be 100percent compliant. So if it's applicable to work elsewhere I can know to reject the Dubai offer and do just UK 20hrs or ask that the Dubai hrs be reduced to 20hrs.
Please help people. Thank you.
Yes, as long as you are still holding student visa . But you can work more than 20hrs during holidays

Yes it’s a diplomatic document issued at the foreign affairs commission but unfortunately he used a fake one and I can’t even access my information.
I’m not sure you know what note verbale is and who is entitled to use one for visa application.

Your agent can not apply for one and if you are not a diplomat, work for certain organisation or a family member of one then you can’t use note verbale for visa application.

What you and the agent committed is a fraud

Hello everyone, please I need an advice from Justwise and other gurus in the forum. I have unconditional offer from GCU and University of Aberdeen, I have paid tuition deposit to GCU for over 3 weeks now and my POF has matured since 20th of july, since then 3 weeks ago, I have been mailing the GCU requesting for CAS but no response uptill now.
Just yesterday I sent the same POF statemen to university of Aberdeen and they confirmed it that yesterday and gladly issued me CAS statement this morning without tuition deposit or pre-CAS interview.
My question now is can I apply for visa with the TB result carrying glasgow adress? And my POF is 1.5m below the required amount for me and my dependant (wife). I have the 1.5m that I can pay to the school but I'm afraid as it may not reflect in the CAS statement before I apply for visa. Is there a way I can manage using the same POF and TB result for visa application. So that I will just request for refund of my deposit from GCU. Thank you
Please do not apply for visa if you did not have the required amount of money needed .
That is most important thing than the address on the TB result

yes I have the original copy with me.
I really don't know what could have cause this. from what i have gathered UI changed the look of their certificate in recent years. Those of us that graduated long time ago have a different look. But I believe they should be familiar with that. I really don't know what they check. But whatever they check it is a big error from their side.
Go for AR and attach the original certificate with a letter from your university to support this...i do understand that getting such letter from university in Nigeria can take ages and costly sometime. If you are unable to get a letter still go ahead with the AR.

Inform your school in the UK about the situation.

Hi All,

I received a refusal letter from Pretoria today.

Reason they give is that my certificate that i used 5 years to obtain is not genuine.

"You have submitted a 2008 Bachelor of Science degree certificate in your name
which was purportedly issued by the University of Ibadan. However examination
of the document by a forgery officer have led to the conclusion that this
document is not genuine. These checks have been documented in a document
examination report (DER) held by our office. I am satisfied that you have
submitted a false document in support of your application. Your application is
therefore refused under Paragraph 9.7.1 (a) of the Immigration Rules."

They examined scanned copy ooo and reached conclusion. no email for confrimation or verificationwas sent to school because I already checked with school this afternoon.

Please i need advise. Administrative review takes a long time from what I have been reading here. Please any advise is welcome

@Justwise et al

Thanks all
Do you have the original copy of the certificate issued by your university?

Brothes and sisters.
I am soliciting for advice as an Igbo business minded man, with UK Msc student visa. Before the conclusion of my 4 yrs in UK (2ys study and 2yrs Psw), I intend to be involved in exportation business.
I have some fund I put outside for used phone, laptop, electonics and bicycles. I have my contact in Alaba market Lagos.

Kindly guide me the right part to follow ahead of time or some one I can follow to be mentored.
Thanks you.
Doing business while holding student visa is illegal, if you are caught your school will not support you and your admission is likely to be cancelled and visa curtailed .

I suggest you hold on till you get your PSW then you can go flat-out into business

Thanks for your swift response. I had a refusal in 2018 for a visit visa reasons been that the visa officer felt the money in my account won’t be available to me when I travelled. However my agent mistakenly filled Single In my application while I was married as such I don’t want to jeopardize my chances due to misrepresentation of information. Also have not been able to buy enough dolls that will accommodate the 4 of us and we received her CAS since last week. Since we have the dollar payment to cover her payment hence my decision.
Concentrate on sorting out the financial expect of the visa application, if the money is not ready now then let her apply alone and travel while you and kids join her when you are ready.

Your wife has to list you and kids in her application and also mention that you people will be applying at a later date.

There is nothing you can do now about previous visa misrepresentation but you have to come out clean and declare it.

Gurus please my wife planned applying alone first for her student visas while the dependent myself and kids planned applying after her visas is approved even when we are indicating we are all traveling together and the POF will cover for the 4 of us. My challenge is that is it a must for her to include our marriage certificate in the application as the main applicant even when we are not applying together so far the marriage certificate was not stated on her CAS..
You people are just complicating simple process, applying together since you have all the money. Marriage certificate is not necessarily important if she is applying alone but adding it shouldn’t be a problem

I am sorry I beg to differ on this assertion, we do have people whose family can't afford to show lump sum proof but are more than willing to support the student on a monthly basis by sending monthly allowance. Does that mean they should not be allowed to dream? If the same standard was applied to most European or American student, they would not be educated at all, there would be no educational standard in the west because a large percentage of their student pay tuition with loans, African students don't have that luxury.

.
What you said above got nothing to do with my post.

What the op has is not a loan.

You just did what many Nigerians do when they want to defend crime,… play on the emotional side .

If your family can not afford large sum then get a proper loan then they can repay gradually while you studying in the UK without financial worries.

Yes Europeans will still be educated, I mean very educated because they have what is called student loan financed by the govt.

They also have scholarships which is available to everyone.

Lastly let’s stop giving excuses for fraudulent activities just to appear as a nice guy.

Nigeria is as bad as it’s today because what we do.

Fast forward to today, no decision yet, the sum expires next week and the money would be taken off my account unless I choose to extend.
I called the bank and was informed that I wouldn't need to extend, since the embassy has called and confirmed. A few persons also mentioned same.
But I'm worried for that considering that a decision haven't been made and my visa application also. I'm frustrated waiting,  and then this.

Noticed a slight inconsistency on my application. My transcript was addressed to my agents office and not the school, although the school issued me cas with same transcript. My TB test also has the main address of my school, and not my actual study centre

Kindly advice me guys.. please . I'm exhausted, afraid, anxious and depressed. It's been over 3 weeks, PRIORITY SERVICE.
That is not a loan, you basically build an account just to get a visa and then return it, this is fraudulent activity visa wise.

If that money is meant for your studies in the UK then it shouldn't have an expiring date and should not be returned after or before the visa is out.

Just hope that the embassy did not dig deep into your bank details else you will be facing 10yrs ban

You are not the only person here that did this, many reading this have done it, some were lucky while others got caught.

@justwise, @Lexusgs430 and all other visa gurus

We want my mother in law to visit us in the UK, say in six months time and we want to ensure we get the foundation of the application right from now.

Our main concern is proving she has ties with Nigeria.
She doesn’t work in employment, but runs several small businesses. None of which are registered. She doesn’t have a landed property in her name, that can be used as prove of home tie.

We randomly send money to her, so not a consistent monthly stipend.

We need advice on how to prove her home tie and also plan for the application. We would be the sponsor for the trip.
1.What is her age range?
2. Has she travelled before?
3. Though the business is not registered but does she have savings ?
