Efftyy: Hello good people. I need contribution on way forward.
I just moved out from an apartment and I tried all possible best to put the flat in shape so my deposit can come back in full payment. After the checkout inspection the Estate agent emailed to inform me that there are cleanings and fixing to be done in the apartment and they will get back to me as regards the estimate. I replied to inform him that I have tried all my possible best to put all in shape before leaving the apartment and I don’t see any place that requires cleaning or fixing in the property. The Estate agent replied my email and inform me the landlord is ready to settled for £100 and give me the rest , if I agree he will contact TDS to remove the £100 and close my account. And if I disagree the Landord will pursue all means to get me fix and clean on my cost .
Is it reasonable I let go, mind you when I went through the report there was no significant difference from when I moved in and when I left. Thank you Let it go, its a fair deal |

Childofgrace18: Ewu Gambia don't allow me insult your generation. You are here showing your ignorance because u have access to a cheap android. If you quote me again, u will receive spiritual slap. Anumpama. What do you know about the UK and it's system? I know far more about the UK system i have lived and still living and working for more than 10yrs now than you. Fraudulent Nigerians like you make things difficult for new comers who only need genuine direction to start up in this country. As for your insult..? |

Childofgrace18: You think they will depend on her CV? She will unders go series of training. Why are you threatening me with ban? You better respect yourself. Will nairaland ban take food away from my mouth? If they will not depend on her CV why then are you encouraging her to lie on her CV to get the job? Someone with actual experience will be denied the opportunity to some fake CV applicants. How about encouraging people to do the actual course, get certificate then apply for the job? The only way to stop people like you from encouraging fraud here is by banning you. |

Childofgrace18: She doesn't need any certificate because the UK don't value our Nigeria certificate, what they are interested are the skills you have that qualify u as a carer. 1: Do you have empathy? 2: Can you communicate well? 3: Do you have patience? 4: Are you a team player? 5: Are you culture sensitive?
Then she needs to prepare her CV to UK standard, add like 5years experience in her CV and state that she have cared for her aged parents or someone close to her which is experience. If she have someone who can give her reference from any hospital in Nigeria, let her go ahead and add the hospital in her CV and put like another 5years experience as a HCA. Care jobs are highly competitive now especially if you don't have UK experience. All lies!!. Made up CV to get a job that involves lives. Any more of such contribution here will earn you a lengthy ban |

Zahra29: Wow. So despite all his shenanigans and (very) ostentatious lifestyle, Tobi Adegboyega of SPAC nation was living without papers, and now he has lost his deportation battle :
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/12/03/tobi-adegboyega-nigeria-pastor-spac-nation-deportation-echr/
Nigerian pastor whose church was shut down over alleged £1.87m fraud loses deportation battle
Mr Adegboyega has lived in the UK unlawfully since overstaying on a visitor’s visa that allowed him to enter Britain in 2005. In 2019, he applied for leave to remain under ECHR’s right to a family life. His application was initially dismissed by a first-tier immigration tribunal before he appealed. Shock horror!!! There are a lot of churches I can personally report for financial mismanagement but it’s not my business as I have stopped contributing yrs ago |

Mcslize: Let me rephrase for better clarity. I will prefer Seun to give Nairaland moderator roles to individuals that are liberal and neutral in sensitive matters regarding religions and gender.
Neutral individuals who are unbaised and don't take side with any gender, will perform better and with high level of fairness than those that already conditioned their minds to fight for a particular gender.
With the rate things are going on this platform, men will be completely eradicated from this platform and they won't have a single say cuz the platform condoles nepotism and favouritism.
Some mods can't shut men mouths up when no offense had been committed.
We must handle things with all fairness without always taking side with one specific gender all the time.
Let's be honest with ourselves for once. So you think that i'm defending women because i'm also a woman? |

Mcslize: Seun really needs to look into the way some mods handle issues here . It is high time he gave the role to more unbaised individuals that are not sentimental. I will prefer Seun to give the mod roles to men because some of the females mod are abusing their powers. And most times, we can see some levels of nepotism in their dealings.
Seun, I want to use this opportunity to draw your attention to the nepotism and biased ways some of the females you gave moderators roles are handling issues inappropriately.
We all founded niaraland together. I can handle moderator role more than some of these females without being sentimental or using my emotions.
Please, kindly look into this issues as we already have too much corruption ravaging us in this country. We shouldn't condole such in this platform where female moderators will be abusing their transient powers. They are becoming power drunk carrying out their roles.
All over the world, women are hardly allowed to be at the hem of affairs because they use emotions to handle issues. And the day a woman becomes a world power president, that's the day the world will end. Please, give moderator role to men and release the females of this sensitive role to prevent many things going wrong in this platform. A man will never apply emotion when handling issues. But women will. Think about this carefully.
Please, kindly look into this.

Free2Fly: Rule 2 is about insults/abuses/attacks directed to NAIRALAND MEMMERS. It says nothing about gender related insults in general. The guy didn't insult/abuse/bully/provoke, etc, any nairaland member in particular. Laws/rules are not interpreted with sentiments

mizGene: Hmm Justwise, I'm surprised you are saying this...ok let me give you my own story being a woman in senior management. I was the only Nigerian in my team so when they employed another one, I reached out to welcome him and offer my support for his settling in into the role. I told him to let me know if he needs help settling in and the silly boy told me to bring him some jollof rice! I was shocked and in my mind I was like "sebi na me find trouble come". He probably didn't know my role/level. But even if I was his mate, should that be the response to a professional offer to help? A lot of our men still see women as kitchen occupiers and still speak in manners that are not acceptable here. These bad encounters turn well meaning ppl off. If I wasn't who I am, that will be the last time I give a newbie a chance. People don't like to suffer fools twice.
Thankfully since then, I've had the pleasure of meeting other junior Nigerians who were sensible and didn't give me regrets. ..you see the prob? |

You just didn't like his comment, understandably so. But he did not break any rules
If mods start shutting people up for saying things that don't sit well with them, nobody go talk again.
Infact it would be a dictatorship. Make we see truth dey talk. ..and what is the truth? That women are physically weak and dangerous? |

studyless123: That is a very limited view of deed restrictions, however you proved a point that a property can have deed restrictions that remain in place regardless of whether the mortgage is paid off. So, even without a mortage, you may not be a landlord.
There are different types of Deed restrictions.
A deed restriction can limit you from renting out the property or making major structural modifications to the house. Tell me where that is application in Nigeria if you're the landlord.
The point is You've got limitations based on the mortgage contract You got limitations based on the deed restrictions A property can have deed restrictions while the mortgage is still being paid and removed after payment. Maybe in Nigeria people use their houses to do as they wishes but in a developed countries where city planning are followed strictly things are very organised. You don't buy a house in a residential area and use it for commercial purposes, if you want to reconstruct your house whether on mortgage or not you have to get a permit from the city council . You can't be playing loud music or organising a church program just because its your house, these things you called restrictions are common sense measures in any developed country. So a house owner and a landlord are the same thing whether in 100yrs mortgage or mortgage free. |

studyless123: Good question. There are often restrictions, called deed restrictions, that limit how you can use the land. This is contrary to the view that denotes unrestricted ownership of a property by expressing himself as the inglorious "Nigerian landlord". Deed of restriction got nothing to do with whether you are the landlord or homeowner, deed of restriction is put in place to prevent people from turning a residential property to commercial one or putting up a structure that will devalue your neighbour property. Just in Nigeria where govt demolished properties purely because it was built in a wrong place or without planning. |

mmsen: It also depends on credit history, which you have ignored. Someone who has only been in the UK three years barely has any. With minimal credit history you have less bargaining power. Again you are getting it wrong, 3yrs in the UK is more than enough to build credit worthiness. |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Man Makes It After Leaving Nigeria In 2021 (Before & After Photos) by justwise(mod): 11:38pm On Nov 16, 2024 |
mmsen: Those are the terms of most mortgages.
And I hope he got a fixed interest rate although I doubt it considering he has very little credit history in the UK. Same for the car. I can only imagine that he has the worst interest rate imaginable. All you said here makes no sense. Fixed mortgage deal got nothing to do with your length of stay in the UK, it’s entirely up to you to go for fixed or variable. Getting a good interest rate has to do with the amount of deposit you dropped. The deposit can also influence your mortgage duration, so it’s not always 20 or 30 yrs , with a larger deposit one can get 15yrs or less. |
