Tay16: Isn't its at least 28days not 28days at most? Im only asking to know if it would work to my advantage if the bank statement reveals that the money has been in my account for a longer period and it wasn't put in the account just before applying for a visa. Please read this first page of this thread the answer is there and i have already updated the link for latest info |

austinice4: It can be in your account for as long as you wish (but not less than 28 days) provided it doesn't at anytime fall below the required amount stipulated by UKVI. Actually that is not true |

Tay16: I am 25years old and ever since i did my undergrad I have not been permanently employed. I am concerned with proving that I have sufficient funds. What do you think will be the best option for me, using my parent's bank statements to prove i have sufficient funds or transferring the at least £10,000 into my personal account 3months prior to applying for my visa to prove that i have sufficient funds to sustain myself? Please read the first page of this thread to avoid making a mistake. The money is not kept in bank account for 3months but 28days. Since you still have time do yourself a favour and read this thread. |

DrCobo: Hello justwise , thanks once again for all your efforts here
Please I need your help here
My wife and son were refused the family visit visa
Reasons are as stated below
1) ECO says the last time she was in the UK on visit visa: Why did she spend 3months and not 3 weeks she said in her application (Although she spent 7weeks ..not 3months) and how she got the finances for the extended stay. She was a student then anyway and her parents sponsored her all through.Went back before her academic session resumed in Russia
That she doubts she would not again stay longer this time
2)ECO says in her previous UK application in 2014 that she stated she had no dependent child. Why is she now claiming she had a child in 2012.?
Clearly , she was truly a student then and the child was totally dependent on her parents as at 2014.We both had no financial capabilities to cater for the child back then so was totally dependent on her parents.
She did not lie here
3) Son was born in 2012 in Russia....ECO not happy with the Nigerian Birth registration submitted which was done in 2016 , 4yrs after the child's birth.ECO asked why the certificate was done first time 4yrs after child's birth.
To avoid confusion , my wife intentionally did not submit the Russian birth certificate cos she was concerned cos my child carried her own surname rather than mine in the application.Though they added on the certificate that he is the son of so so so (my first name).
The ECO said he has heard in Nigeria , people get birth registration anyhow and easily so he doubts if she is truly the mother of the child.
He had no issues with all my documents and financial circumstances.
They were refused the visa for reasons summarised above and he says unless he sees further evidence to support the application , and personal circumstances change , they will likely be refused again.
Please I need your response Justwise on how we can clear all his doubts.
I have instructed her to put all her 2012 pregnancy pics, baby pics and pics of baby growing up with her parents
The Russian birth certificate and explain the reason for previous ommission
And also parents to explain in a letter they sponsored her few weeks extended stay back in 2014 and took responsibility of the child so she could focus on her education.
Please is there any thing i must not miss out here.Any positive additions please
I could do a tier 2 dependent visa but i just feel this needs be clarified regardless. So we decided to reapply for same family visit to clear all doubts raised for now
Thank you very much for patiently reading 1. That is always an issue, staying longer than you stated in the application form is never a good idea only if you a serious reason to do that. Your wife has to try and explain as much as she can and apologize for that. 2. Two ways to address this issue i can think of is.. for her to do what you explained above(to put all her 2012 pregnancy pics, baby pics and pics of baby growing up with her parents) and explain why she omitted that in her previous application. Or do a DNA test( this will be expensive but surely it will put the whole issue to bed) 3. The ECO is right in this..that was a serious mistake by your wife, since your son was born in Russia why submitting birth certificate from Nigeria? And not only that your wife got one 4yrs after the baby was born. She has to do exactly what you mentioned which is to submit the Russian birth certificate and give full explanation for that mistake. |

Basildon1: Hi @justwise,
Hope you see this soon - I want to invite my mother to the UK however I would like the application reviewed based on my financial statements rather than hers. In the previous application, her application was refused due to undeclared deposits (she is a businesswoman)
Do I have to reword the cover letter to state a clear sponsorship rather than an invitation. Also do I necessarily have to supply payslips (I work as a contractor so I self-invoice)
My thanks in advance Is she retired/a pensioner? |

giftwalter: Hello guys, good day to all the gurus here.
Please I need your advice on how to go about this. I intend travelling to the UK on my leave later this year. I have a virgin passport and have never traveled out of this country. I have someone who's willing to send me an invite, also indicating that she will sponsor my trip.
I work in a well known company and my monthly pay is 130k, I am also a student of the NOUN. As for the financial part I am a little bit worried that a lump sum will appear on my account as of when I will be applying because currently I am saving 50% of my salary in a cooperative which I will withdraw before applying for the visa.
My concern is how do I go about this? Whats the best way to do this funds part? The main question here is..can you comfortably afford the trip considering your incoming and outgoing? |

narpheesarh: Hello justwise and other gurus in the house. I recently completed my masters in the UK and got back to Nigeria January 13 2017, although my current visa expires March 3rd. I got another admission for PhD and instead of travelling back to the UK to extend my current visa, I want to reapply from Nigeria. Do I still need to do a TB test since I haven't even spent up to a month outside the UK. Thank you all. No you will be fine on that one. |

careerwoman: So I finally applied against all odds Application date:20/12/16 Decision made:19/01/17 Refused based on; 1) travel history (hmmm, I stated clearly in my SOP that I had been to Rome for the last edition of the conference and my initial refusal before the schengen visa was approved). 2) personal finance and assets(I also stated that my elder bro will be funding the trip plus the financial aid from the organisers, that is $1100. I submitted his bank statement, company idcard, and letter confirming my claim). 3) purpose of visit (I submitted the conference invitation letter, booked accommodation, letters of support written by the prime minister, governor of quebec, and mayor of montreal downloaded from the conference's website) I also had a detailed travel itinerary of all my activities. Overall, I don't think the VO's decision was fair enough. I feel like he/she didn't even bother to read through my application. My application processing was also very short and up till now, I can not link my application to my online account (site says no records found even after including the UCI).. I don't think my application was duly processed.. P.S. all my documents were handed back to me except the letters.. Is it the norm?? Sorry to hear about the refusal, those refusal reasons are generic, if you want to know the full detailed reason for the refusal then order for GCMS , here's the link to order for it http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp That is where you will get an explanation why you were refused |

justi4jesu: It depends on your country of departure.
Airfrance goes to PHC and I'm sure about this.
Lufthansa goes to PHC from Newyork,Chicago, Washington D.C
KLM from London - Heathrow Airport to PHC but its not a direct flight, it goes through Amsterdam through France and you guys will be transferred into Airfrance in France and with 1 stop in Lagos before heading to PHC. Yea that is my headache, i'm not a fan of stopovers, i have used KLM before to Lagos with a stopover at Amsterdam for about 3hrs and never liked it. Airfrance the same issue. Thanks though |

pls permit me to brief my enquiries. my broda was banned in Dec. 2006 for false documentation n Dec.2016 makes it 10yrs. now my uncle in UK wants to send him invitation for visitor visa.
1. pls what are his chances? 2. what is the minimum account balance he shd have? 3. Though he is married; How again can he convince ECO dt he has a strong ties in Nigeria.
thanking you guyz for ur response 1. Nobody can predict that he has to apply then the ECO will make the decision 2. There is nothing like minimum or maximum amount to have in your account, you need to draw your budget for the trip that will give you an idea how much to spend for the trip. 3. His job is another way to strengthen his ties to Nigeria |
