I wanted to answer your question then I saw the section in bold. Obviously you did not read this thread because all the questions you asked above have been answered here. Hi

Please house i need ur advice. I am about applying for a visit visa for my younger brother who is currently an engineering student at a university in nigeria. He is is 400 level out of 5 years.

I will be sponsoring him and have all the relevant documents, a very robust account and proof of income here.

I intend to send all the document he will be needing from here ( i am a UK resident) and hopefully have him come on holiday with my mum (she does not need a visa).

Could you please advice on his chances and what sort of document he wld need to provide given the fact that he is a student and not earning an income ATM.

Many thanks in advance for your help
We have answered this sort of question far too many times here and i personal don't like repeating it again.

He needs to submit all his school documents...student ID, progress result(his last result), admission letter and letter from his school permitting him to travel outside Nigeria PLUS the documents you will be sending him

Greetings everyone,

This is a follow-up on the issue about my lost NI. I promised to update the house on it. So I called the HM Revenue and Customs this morning. After series of security questions the guy insisted he can't give it to me over the phone or even through e-mail due to the data protection act. He said he can only send it to a UK address, which he said can take up to 10-15 working days. I told him I don't have that kind of time, and he then suggested I contact my former employers in the UK as they should be able to give me the number via phone.

So I immediately called the University where I did my Msc because I did some work for them. Within few minutes, the lady at the payroll section gave me my NI number - I only answered few basic questions. I really thank God I have finally found this number o. Thanks to all who made one suggestion or the other on this.

Good to know that you were able to get it from your uni...funny though that HM refused to give you but directed you where to get it grin

@justwise i intend staying for just 5days, flight is like 150k other budget is 150k as well. i am going to jo'burg. total expenditure is like 600k. moreso, should i print the two account statements? (current and savings) tho my current has nothing in it.
That does not make any economic sense. You have 600K in your savings account and want to spend all in 5days? How long did it take you to save up that amount? Going by your salary that is 4months + salary gone in 5days.

This is one holiday you can't afford to take.

You need to present at least 6months payslip and bank statement.

my monthly salary is 149k but the problem is that it is paid twice mid month and end of the month into two separate accounts of which i have a facility that gets deducted before i get my end of the month pay. more my payslip carries only the end of the month details it excluded the mid month pay.
As long as that amount is paid directly into your account from the company then its not a problem, what matters is your net monthly salary.

1. How long do you intend to stay in SA?

2. How much is your budget for flight, accommodation and feeding in SA?

3. Where are you visiting in SA?

4.How much will the total expenditure come up to?

Sorry to say you have toed same path of embarrassement.
Are you the one saying this? You of all people!
Apparently you seem not to understand me nor the girl but jumps into the terrain

What she meant is that if you have a Spanish PR, you will also have a Spanish Passport. That is what she was implying by asking rhetorically that " HOW CAN YOU HAVE A SPANISH PR WITHOUT HAVING A SPANISH PASSPORT"

Let me ask you, when a person has an indefinite leave to remain in the UK, does that person also get British passport without first becoming a citizen by naturalization? When a person has a British passport he/she is a British citizen, no longer a holder of ILR. If you are PR/ILR holder, you still a national of your homeland but has the right to settle in ur host country permanently /indefinitely. Becoming a British /Spanish citizen by naturalization is a different status/process all together and that is when u are qualified to be granted a British passport /Spanish Passport.

This is not too difficult to comprehend really!
You just repeated what i explained in my last post but at the same time coming up as if you did not comprehend where i was coming from.

Yes she got that bit wrong but you really can not be this thin-skinned that insulting people just because you spotted a mistake becomes second nature to you.

See this one.. I still get ink to write after this embarrassment. "How can he have a Spanish PR without having a Spanish Passport" .. Olodo jati jati
That is absolutely possible, when you are given a ILR in the UK its just a card and not a passport. You only get a passport when you become a citizen.

Are you not the one who is confused here?

You are calling her olodo but you don't seems to understand the difference between PR and citizenship

Being in my own country does not bring me down. We have been miseducated about who we are in this world.

My country is the origin of Creation & Development, and therefore I need not acquire money to go and claim social benefits elsewhere, in lands recently populated by descendants of Dravidian Albinos, who many of us worship on Fridays and Sundays.

Remain in the Ice-cold weather. Make sure you pay your heating bills. But do not return to pontificate White Supremacy after interacting with those rif-raffs who come as 'expatriate', while you are there as 'immigrant'.
I have to disagree with you on that. Being in Nigeria will not only bring you down it will send you 6fit down.

We are having this debate here now with everything invented by those rif-raffs

I guess you are just being patriotic

Sire! I know the weight of his crime smiley, from his current situation judging him is the last thing I would do. As a family guy, he is a hustler, except you have a very good job in Europe, you will hustle all your stay. No fun at all, therefore I don't blame him at all.

Still on the advise, assuming he was able to invest, saved a lot of cash back home, he wouldn't be this devastated.

I don't know why you choose the reverse, so you're very OK with the fact that, his hard earned money, personal belongings all gone?

I'm ok for the fact that he did not get away with it and i have little or no sympathy for him.

You don't need to have a very good job in Europe to live a normal life, a job, common sense and living within your means are all you need.

He wanted to use short-cut and ended up taking a very long journey to Nigeria.

I applied and received my tax return while I was still in the UK. It's among the documents I can't locate now. I will try and give them a call on Monday as that seems to be my only option now . I have searched my laptop for any trace, went through my Barclays account online for any hint, yet no show. I really wish I had written this number down somewhere.
I will be surprised if you are able to pull that off calling from Nigeria.

The European Economic Area (EEA)
The EEA includes EU countries and also Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It allows them to be part of the EU’s single market.

Switzerland is neither
an EU nor EEA member but is part of the single market - this means Swiss nationals have the same rights to live and work in the UK as other EEA nationals.
I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing

Not true. As a Spanish PR holder, u need a visa to enter the UK. It's if you hold a Spanish passport, that you don't need a visa.
Technically you are right but what I failed to mention there is that...Spanish PR holder traveling with his/her partner who is an EU citizen will be allowed into the UK.

From my little understanding, having resided in Europe for a while. I think 2 things might be wrong.Firstly, U cannot enter Switzerland just becausru have a EU resident permit. The country is not in the EU and not Schengen state. U cant even enter the UK (even before brexit) without a visa deapite been a memeber of the EU.How can you live in Europe for 13years n not know this.
Secondly, how can you reside in spain ,work n pay taxes in spain and then "solicit" for benfits in Switszerland. If he's telling the truth thwn he dug his own grave. It goes to say that even hia first entry was illegal n instaed of staying quitee he went ahead to lobby for benefits.Anyone who knosws anything about Europe knows u don't travwl close to expiry of ur permit
Dude Switzerland is a member of Schengen state and a Spanish PR holder can enter the UK without a visa

I'm not here to play hate, blame games. Just here to advise my brethren overseas.

Please oh, while you're there, save a lot of cash in your Nigerian account, as in plenty money in the account, invest back home, build house, buy car, just do something for house, Europe nor be we home, one day dem must see one thing wey you do then just send you back.

The Spaniards connived with the Swiss and sent this guy home, why? Because if they decide to do so themselves he might have an edge and come back, this way he is totally KOed if there is any word like that grin
I will advice anybody I know to do the opposite because investment in Nigeria is not secured and will only expose your loved ones to kidnappers.

The problem with some Nigerians like you is that you love playing the race card and refused to call a spade a spade.

You live and work in Spain but want to claim benefits in Switzerland? Who's money? Did he work and pay into Swiss system?

Some Nigerians enjoy abusing any system given the opportunity.
