I can remember we confirmed the changes about this a few months ago. The person in question sent UKBA an email, which they replied that the submission date is (now) the date of application as applicants could no longer pay at the visa centre

If i remembered correctly what was confirmed then was that your application is not complete until you submit at the visa centre and give your biometric details.

Please I'm confused o. the Tier 4 guidance notes states that the funds must be in your account for a minimum of 28 days before the date of your application. The date of your application is the day you make the payment for the visa application fee. I understand this to mean that you can only pay for the visa after the 28 day period.

this new information by @bidosko is confusing. Please clarify
That is correct.

@texrem

It will cost you nothing to show some respect to VOs who came here to help clear up rumours and misconceptions about U.S visa application.

You can disagree with somebody without coming out rude and hostile with your replies.

I don't care how angry you are..just don't do it.

Thank you.

she asked how much we earn
thought telling her about the money in the business account would have been diverting from the question she asked
what can we do now?
You can reapply if there is a significant change in your situation or you have new info which will be material to VO's decision

@justwise if a person can get any of dis countries easily going 2 u.s is wast of money, travel 2 ghana is an added advantage not a wast of money wen it comes 2 u.s visa interview

Added advantage in what way? Do you know the importance of travel history as regards to visa application to countries like US, UK, Canada, Germany etc?

If you want to prove to the VO that you have a travel history then travel to countries with strict visa requirements, not countries that are visa free to Nigerians, visa on arrival or countries that requires very little check to let you in.

You don't need a visa to visit Ghana and other African countries so don't bother going to those countries so as to create travel history because it count just little or nothing when you want to apply to above mentioned countries.

From property proceeds which was used as capital and has appreciated overtime.
The VO can only make decision based on the answers you gave, you did not mention the 10M from property proceeds when asked how much you earn.

they did not even check our bank statements, i had more than enough money in my personal account to finance the trip and we will still have over 10million in the business account when we return.
that would have been ascertained if the VO had requested for our bank statements.
Money you earn from the same business a lone?

Gudmorning Justwise
Please, what is your advice in my own case?
I'm thinking that the refusal has to do with your family finance, yes you and your wife earn a gross total of N550,000 a month but that is not salary, that is business money, travel to US for just 10days will probably take all that money. Flight ticket for 2, hotel, feeding etc.

So what do you have left to be able to run your business?

@justwise,but wy is vo grants visa 2 dose dat hav travel 2 ghana on dis thread?
That was not the reason for granting them a visa, they were granted because they met the requirements at that time. Going to Ghana is pointless.

Going to Ghana as a way of creating travel history is a waste of money and time.

If you want to create travel history that counts then visit one of these countries.... Canada, UK, France, Germany etc

5 years.

alfayeed
5years marriage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5years marriage with know child or children is a very weak or poor family ties.
please do not see this as an insult,or abuse but the truth must be said.
29 and 32 years married for 5 years with know child or children is consider by USA VO as a weak or poor family ties.
please do not see my comment as an insult or abuse but according to usa immigration law,all applicant for usa visa are judge base on there situation.
from another angle, the VO might think your wife is going there to put to bed and you guys will just settle down there and start your business there, since you guys are the owner of your business .
Seriously can you just stop talking non-sense and apologise to alfayeed ? This is unacceptable

Hi everyone, Its testimony time!!! Yayyyy!!! After months of waiting, dear visa is here grin grin. I was tensed cos hubby wasn't called unlike the timelines I have seen on this forum.

Here's my timeline
May 21, 2015- submitted application online
May 26th - Went for biometrics and was interviewed
May 27th - recieved email from UKVI that they have received my application.
June 8th - supporting documents received by Sheffield. Note that I didn't receive an email to this effect, just the postal delivery report. I thought this as unusual unlike what I have seen on this forum, but hubby told me not to get worried.
And so the wait began, it was a long wait. I was waiting to hear hubby say he has been invited for an interview. For where, no info.
Jul 30th - hubby contacted UKVI via email requesting an update
Jul 31st - emailed response of no current updates. We were asked to provide info for case to be expedited
Aug 2nd - Case escalated
Aug 4th -Email from UKVI stating the application in question is awaiting ECO assessment
Aug 6th - Received an email from UKVI that a decision have been made. I experienced an intense session of heart palpitations. Hubby was not called for an interview and I was so scared it meant a refusal. Most timelines I have read, have that interview and then a positive response. He thought it probably meant our application was well arranged... lol. He was right grin
Aug 7th - Supporting documents returned to hubby. (we were both confused as d photocopies were returned, but all na tension)
Aug 10th - Email from teleperfomance that passport is ready collection
Aug 11th - Taadah!!!! Passport collected, visa stamped 4th Aug!! Hubby and I are over excited and extremely grateful to God.

Thanks girlfio,Lexusgs430 and everyone for ur contributions on this forum. I hope my timeline helps someone in need of answers.
Congratulations!

Hello justwise and friends. Pls can my husband use the "apply for someone else" option to apply for me? We are travelling together and he has filled his own form. Can he fill mine too?

And also what is the Uk official rate for pounds to naira?
Yes he can

Use this website for exchange rate conversion, the embassy uses it http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/

@Justwise good morning, please can you help me with the right form to fill for spouse settlement visa application, the one we have says to be used outside the UK but hubby is submitting in sheffield, i am a lil confused here kindly help. Thank you.
Yes..that is because you are to fill it and submit in Nigeria and your hubby submits other documents to Sheffield, you are the main applicant while your hubby is the sponsor.

Thank you but the account is a personal account but also used to receive payment for business sometimes. ..Besides assuming it's a business account and u say we can't use it, don't you think that is wrong? Because if I am going for a training and the company I work with will be sponsoring me is it not the company's business account that will be used?
You did not read my post or you read it and did not understand it, i said he can use the account but the money in it must not be used for the trip but the account can act as his tie to Nigeria.

Then there is a problem...using a business account to apply for visiting visa is not the same as using savings or salary account. He needs to separate his business account from current or savings account to be able to use it for visa application.
Business account is purely for the running of the business and can also act as tie-to-Nigeria when applying for tourist visa but the money in it must not be used for the trip.

Mr justwise, the 2M is the closing balance in the bank statement we submitted, sometimes he has more money than that in the same account, it's a functional account.

Please I need an advice ... Is it true that you can get married officially in UK when you are 16 (with a perental consent ) And 18 without.. I had a girlfriend when I went to the UK around January which I stayed for 2months which we hangged around alot ... And now she is wishing I could stay for a longer period and the only way I could is through marriage I guess and I also have my 2years Visa still valid ... The point is she is 17 and I'm also 17 passport age lol (I'm20 btw) my question is please is there any chance of this happening ...??
Whether you are 17 or 20 my advice to you is to concentrate on your education for now and stop looking for every possible way to abuse immigration system.

The total cost of the budget was N1.5m and the N1.5m covers our flight ticket, hotel and some other expenses if need be.
As a family with kids spending 1.5M out of 2M in few days in the UK does not add up.
