For utility I mean gas, water and electricity and maybe internet. For a family of 4 to 6, I really don't see how u spend that much in this UK. I have relatives with large family in London, they don't spend that much on utility.

I live in Sheffield and I can confidently say u don't live in UK. My new build house- semi terrace is 770/ month and that's on the high side. Average house rent is 600/month.
There's no way utility is up to 400 per month, what are u consuming.

This is very false budgeting. I have lived in the UK for 2 decades.
Which city is charging £800 per month for rent?? 2bed rent is about £900 upwards depending on the city. The cities with cheaper rent are often cities with no jobs or villages.


I can tell you categorically that utilities - water/gas/electric for a 2bed is around £400 per month. Then there's council tax. As long as you have a non- student living in the flat/house, u will pay which is anywhere from £100 - £170pm depending on the borough

This are core bills that MUST be paid before u move fmto feeding/tp to work/black tax (sending money back home), paying ur tuition, saving up IHS /course training for career advancement, personal savings.

What the thread poster said is a fact but 9ja will argue until they get here. This is why nigerians in the UK ignore the Japa crew because we can all see that they have been warned before they got on a plane but they refuse. Instead u want someone to accommodate u and ur family till u "find your feet". Forgetting that by "accomodating u, their own utilities bill goes up/feeding goes up, they run the risk of a neighbor reporting them for overcrowding etc.

There are opportunities of immense benefits for Nigerians who are ready to succeed.

Uber came to Nigeria with only their app without buying any vehicle and today they are making millions of dollars with fleet of cars for the Uber taxi service.
Four Nigerians can contribute to raise money to start a new taxi service startup and they will not need to "Japa" to anywhere.
The N300, 000 - N1,200, 000 that you need to "Japa" is enough for a lucrative venture in Nigeria.

I only advise anyone who wants to "Japa" to think twice and if you insist on leaving, don't be scammed.
With only N300, 000 you can become a member of a recognized organization of entrepreneurs and receive invitations to travel to trade fairs and other events in America, Canada and the UK.

As for me, I don't need to "Japa", because I am the CEO of my fully Incorporated digital media company since 2009 and my company has never borrowed and has done successful events for the IMAX Corporation of Canada, Dolby Laboratories of America and the High Commission of Canada with partnerships with Vuulr and Cinewav of Singapore.

Hello my people,

I need a serious advice please , I made a mistake and I need help in regards with the issue.

There was a fight in one of the 5 flats opposite mine. It resulted into police action which they came knocking at our door. I was about leaving home for work in the morning and I was asked what I can say in regards to the seen. I informed them I saw an hammer with someone I can't really describe except that the person is bald.

Now the issue is that I got a letter to come forward to the court as a withness to the crime committed by my neighbor. My mind has not been at rest since I got the letter cos of the likely public display of me as a withness.

I am thinking of going to the police station that I'm not comfortable doing this as i felt that I might not be safe living in that area anymore.
Kindly advise on this move.

And anyone with experience in such aspect should please advice.

Parenting styles may vary for example hitting a child in the UK is generally seen as abuse because there are often better ways to teach and discipline a child. The majority of black boys and children in general who were raised here are doing well and are responsible. Conversely there are nigerian students who come here and get into trouble. Several during my uni days- one boy even got into trouble with the police over allegations from an oyinbo girl he was messing with.
Not every black boy here is in a gang, the same way not every young Nigerian is into yahoo or a Nigerian "prince". A lot of it is stereotypes due to media presentation.

again, this is another inaccurate claim. I have never said I worked in the financial sector, ever. I have mentioned the industry I worked in many times, notably pharma and then Vitafoam before I retired in my early 30's three years ago. I understand the concepts of using OPM (other people's money) in business, as I have a MBA (distinction), BUT I don't have the need to apply leverage to my business for now. Was able to have fantastic capital appreciation that has turned one business to two distinct ones. For now, my two business experiments needs no leverage, but when the time comes when financial leverage becomes SENSIBLE I know just how to apply it to my business for best outcomes..certainly won't be taking any loans for pleasure or leisure, no matter how small, cos a borrower is a slave to the lender. What else?
