EducationRe: Flogging Boys On The Buttocks And Girls On The Hands In Schools by Juwohn: 8:39am On Sep 07, 2019
Coporal punishment in most schools is a violation of the child's right.
I don't think the difference makes any difference.

lecturer50:
In most primary/secondary schools in Nigeria and Africa, there is a norm as far as corporal punishments is concerned.

Where caning is allowed:

Males students are generally beaten on their buttocks and females students on the palms of their hands.

These are the laid down rules although there could be some exceptions like:beating of back, feet, legs

As a male student, how did it use to feel like when they beat your buttocks during your school days?

As female student, how does it feel like when your hands are beaten.

Please i need replies with revelant examples from your primary/sec school day.

I need replies.

It is urgent

I'm not trying to form English expert but Wikipedia describes a pastor as "an ordained leader of a Christian congregation". A term for ministers of the gospel.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Reply When Interviewers Ask About Your Previous Salary by Juwohn: 11:03am On Aug 10, 2019
qanda:
This approach will be for a beginner. Some prospective employers even request for payslips from previous employer. Above response is too dramatic...I strongly discourage it.

I think what is important is for the job seeker to know his/her relative worth and do your homework to know the average salary scale for that Industry or Job role.

Come to think of it, let's say you earned N50,000 at your previous job, and you are aware the role you are interviewing for can pay N200,000. Must you tell the interviewer you earned N50,000

If I am to advice, the appropriate answers to consider are:

1. "I believe you have a rate for this job role"
2. You probe... "How much are you offering for this position"
3. If you have done your homework or know your relative worth, "I have a salary scale between N150,000 - N200000 in mind" or you name the minimum salary you can accept.
4. "I earned N100,000 at my last workplace, and believe I deserve a better compensation, if they paid me more, I may still be with them"

Bottomline is that you should know your stuff. Make sure you are valuable, an asset, resourceful..that is what counts.

Whenever you attend an interview, go there with a mindset that you are there to help the company achieve their goal, they need you as much as you need them. So be composed and confident.
Everything above looks good except the part where you intend to say you may still be with your previous employer if they offer more compensation. It paints a picture of a money driven employee and you're indirectly telling your prospective employer that you will leave them again if your current job increases your salary or you get a new offer. Although it's the truth anyway, they don't want to hear that except you're really a "Zuckerberg" or "Edison" that every organization is dying to have in their team

Viquetohr:
Having the money transferred into my own account shouldn't be the evidence of continued sponsorship, as there's a possibility that the money can be tampered with soon after. That evidence could only be confirmed at the Airport Point of Entry.
Restricted:
It should not but look at these 2 scenarios and tell me which you think is more logical and probably acceptable to a VO....

1. I said i am your sponsor and gave you my bank statement to show i have the money to sponsor you.

2. I said i am your sponsor and i trust you enough to send MY money into YOUR account to PROVE i am actually sponsoring you.

Like i said, i might be wrong.
The first one is more convincing while the second one will complicate the application process more. The second scenario would imply a lump sum in the applicants account which SA embassy frowns against. The first option has always been acceptable. There could be other factors in the letter of sponsorship that may have warranted the denial.

They arent providing net cos they say it is ctc (cost to company), which means i will be responsible for tax and pension and medicals.

Do you have an idea of areas within cape town where a lot of Nigerian professionals are resident?
I don't stay in Cape Town but in Johannesburg where I spend half of my time I don't want to stay near my brothers. I find it better to stay apart than being neighbors. It's funny but my preference. Just get a safe neighborhood, a few NG friends and know where the NG market is - my advice.

Far better Sir but if they can provide you with an estimated gross, what will it cost them to do the same and provide you Net estimate. Otherwise I believe it's far better.

Qhan:
Hi Guys,

Please is R850,000 gross salary in cape town a good pay for someone earning N550K net in Nigeria?

Also, which area in cape town has high concentration of Nigerians and what is the average cost of rent per month in such areas.

Thanks.

Am in SA and I wanted to go and renew my document that has expired a month ago anyone with info pls dm me or quote thanks
If your visa has expired you shouldn't be in SA man
VFS requires that your permit be valid for at least 6weeks bfor renewal I think

Hi all,

I would like to ask if it is compulsory to certify marriage and birth certificate at the ministry of foreign affairs in Abuja.
Also, who knows if one can get yellow card at other States than Lagos (Ibadan for example)
In the past you can get it anywhere even in Ife. I'm not sure about now cos with the new system, the card number has to be linked to your name and passport number.
I would advise that you try to get it in Lagos perhaps.
EducationRe: Is Second Class Upper Still Possible.?? by Juwohn: 10:17am On Jul 27, 2019
You need an average of at least 4.2 GP every semester assuming that you get 2.5 again in your 200L first semester. (2.5*3)+(4.2*5)
If you fall less than 4.2 in a semester you have to compensate for the deficit in the next semester. It's possible but requires a lot of hard work and dedication.

All the best

brandon180:
I finished year one with a cgpa of 2.50
They just released the results of two courses for 200L first semester and I had F, (3 credit load each) it is very painful because I read my books.

Anyway I want to ask if it's still possible to graduate with a good 2.1

I study physics by the way.

If they does not respond within the ten day window, he will be banned. So according to your logic, how can he reapply when he ignored the consulate's request for clarification?

They are already have suspicions about his bank statements and have given him the opportunity to clarify.

If he doesn't respond, the next time he applies, it will be a straight denial with the reason being fraudulent account statement on file
Next time he reapplies with a correct bank statement and proper documents, he will be granted a VISA. Usually when you ask even the guys at VFS for directions on how to appeal they re a bit reluctant and then they give you the address of the home affiars in Pretoria. The HA does not even have access to the application ref numbers from NG so they can't influence anything. The appeal process is just an invitation to appear fair in my honest opinion - its not like it's treated or reviewed that's what I'm saying. But as suggested OP can appeal just to satisfy his curiosity.

My suggestion is that he addresses the concerns raised and provide sufficient/adequate info in his application

I just got a ups mail and visit visa wasn’t given. Reasons:
1. insufficient funds to embark on trip( had about 1.460m in the account with very healthy transaction flow)

2. Bank Statement transactions lacks credibility (wonder what they mean by that)

I was told I could appeal within 10 working days. Do I appeal or apply again later? If so, how long do I wait before I re-apply?

Is there anyone that was denied on these grounds and later issued a visa on subsequent applications?
Geenosko:
Do a breakdown detailing your expenses out of the 1.40m

E.g

flight xyz naira
Accommodation
Local transport
Feeding
Shopping

Is your bank statement legit? Did you have lump sum deposits?

They are giving you an opportunity to prove that the account statement is genuine and that you can fund your journey.

If don't appeal, it's by default an admission of guilt and you fit chop ban and they would record you as having submitted fraudulent documents.

All tha best
This is not entirely True.
Address the reasons adequately and reapply.
Trying to appeal the decision is just a waste of time and a fruitless exercise.

Police Clearance - Alagbon, no price - based on how best you can negotiate. Least is probably 4,500 but yoi can be billed as high as 10k+
Medical - Fed govt hospital. I dont knw if they now accept from private clinics.

If your institution accepts NQ7 for masters and if it's research based.

Please kindly reply.

About registration.

We did applied for undergraduate study February uptill now that the visa is not out yet.

I believe it wont really be a big problem at the vfs in terms of Registration. Though I did paid 1/3 of the school fees and the proof was part of the documents submitted.

Please I would appreciate ur input
Did you apply for undergraduate or honors?
For both, VFS will confirm from your institution if you're likely to be accepted. The decision to grant a visa in that case will be based on whether the school can still accept you or not. If you have paid part of the tuition fees, my advice is that you follow up with your institution.

Is there any school that the application are still open for honors degree to resume this year? I sent 100k to someone since January for SAQA and since then SAQA has not been completed he’s also assuring me that I will get admitted for honors in engineering this year to resume by September. Is that all lies??
depoty22:
No ways, Saqa takes only 2 to 4 weeks, If they are able to verify your qualification with your school.

I think you can still register for Hons as soon as your SAQA is completed.
Unlike Masters and PhD, honours is a bit more structured. You have to resume in January. On rare occasions, you may be allowed to register in July. Resumption beyond this two periods is hardly possible - at least to the best of my knowledge. Even VFS may not grant your application.

The major reason for asking the question is that am going with a friend and we want to get a room with two bed. I just want to know maybe its must to pay for the hotel room or not, because if I pay with my master card and the receipt is issue on my name, I don't know maybe is advisable for both of us to present the receipt to SA immigration officer as where we both want to stay. Please guys is it must to pay or not? If not we will just do separate booking and pay when we get there
ZubyDee:
Please try and do separate booking, don’t allow the little money you’re trying to save make one of you get deported. I stay here and know how things goes here.
In my view, I don't think you need a separate booking. Just make two copies of the booking and the two of you should know exactly where you are going. The one with which booking was confirmed on his/her name may also write a letter for the other stating that you're staying together at so do and so place - just in case

I'm just thinking of this as a husband-wife case or siblings. I don't think you will have problems.

Please, how soon to reapply after rejection. Someone told me you can only reapply after 3 months.
To the best of my knowledge, you can reapply immediately once you have addressed their concerns and confident of success. VFS should be able to advise if this has changed.

You mean the VFS folks collected the letter of appeal from you?
I had a similar case and this same vfs folks told their is nothing like appeal. That I have to pay again and reapply
Forget about appeal. Just reapply.
My brother was rejected about two times consecutively in 2017.
We called the consular the third time to explain the confusion.
His application was approved the third time with an apology.

Meanwhile, he submitted an appeal too. Two after, we have not heard anything.
I also know of someone who appealed early this year.
Till today not update. Just address the concerns raised and reapply.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Juwohn:
There is hardly anything you can do.
The best is to inform your department to offer you an admission very early so that you can start processing for 2020.

The high commission consulted with almost all school before taking this decision. If you will have to reapply, reapply with an admission letter for 2020. This is April, their is really no institution that will register you. Same goes for honors and some masters by course work applicants.

Try to Call and email the officer herself, not the department.
Include in your email, your date of application, vfs location, reference number, name and passport number. My understanding is that they forward this information to the embassy based on how compelling your email is. She also requests that we wait at least 6/7weeks before sending a request for support email.

I sent mine on the 10, followed up with a call on 11 and she gave a confirmation that she has forwarded to them on the same day. Permit was approved on 21. About 11 days after. All the best guys
