FamilyRe: Help! An Unwanted Pregnancy Is Ruining My Life. by jwax: 11:22pm On Jul 24, 2021
It's a terrible situation and I can understand the shame and remorse that comes with issues like this but don't give up on your calling. Sometimes we go through the fire to learn and come out refined.

You have tasted sin and have seen the consequences of it. When God restores you, I believe you will be in a better position to resist when such temptation comes again.

For your child, it will be a grave mistake to abandon him/her because you sound like a responsible man so abandoning the child will haunt you alot.

Secondly, I know you haven't been thinking right but I will advise you to overlook whatever that family is saying and go-to that village with an elderly person before your baby mama puts to bed. One thing about igbos is that if you fail to do something On the mother, you will never claim your child.

That little money you have, send it to the mother quickly before she puts to bed to show that you care and also quickly make preparations to go visit her before she delivers as both of you have emotions flying here and there and not thinking straight over phone talk. Marriage is not an option now but you must go see them and explain your plight personally for them to understand...

The girl's family have shown to be unreasonable so I must warn you to be very careful and calculative. Is she a baby? Why the rape allegation and threats with police? They seem to be a troublesome family and that could be a red flag.

Lastly, your calling is still very valid... I fault these business centres calling themselves churches for treating erring members so badly. Even people of the world have forgiving hearts more than these so called churches.

Keep fellowship with God and keep the fire burning... Gather money and build on your skills.

When all these is over you will have a strong line of message and use the experience to know how to handle youthful exuberance among youths in your ministry.

Maybe your calling is geared towards youths and the dangers of youthful exuberance/fornication.... You are being prepared to be a pastor for the youths. This experience is paving way for you to understand your purpose as a minister.

Quench not the spirit.... Selah

Girls of these days are so engrossed with social media and the introduction of status on whatsapp and facebook and the advent instagram, snapchat and that annoying TikTok it only made things worse.

Thats how I met a girl I was willing to start something with. She came around and was just so carried away with snap chats and making annoying videos. We couldn't have healthy conversation because of her obsession with snapchat videos to upload...

I just withdraw my interest immediately
CareerRe: Can I Resign In The Bank And Concentrate With The POS Business by jwax: 3:44pm On Jul 07, 2021
My advise for you is to set an exit plan from any job that takes the whole of your day.

Do you know what that means? It means it will shut you out completely from the outside world and your life will be limited to just the four walls of the bank and when you leave for home it will be to go and sleep and return back the next day.

You are not allowed to press your phone during working hours and that alone impedes you from numerous opportunities out there.

POS business has been bastardize so if you must do it, I will advise you target any market Or business environment where there will be high need of cash for transactions (don't ever open it in streets) if there is no opportunity in a market or business environment, hold your money jejely and think of another business to venture into.

work to save and invest to be your own boss. There is no future in a banking job especially if you are not well certified... Your job should fund your business start up... If you have a trusted individual that can run your POS business for you, trust in him/her to run it as your side hustle with the banking Job.

Bottom line is, whatever decision you make, will make or teach you... It won't destroy you. Learn from any negatives if at all it occurs

Good luck
RomanceRe: How Long Is Too Long For A Relationship? by jwax: 6:33am On Jun 29, 2021
Sometimes the long wait isn't planned... For me personally I have always stayed away from relationships because I didn't want anything above 6 months before marriage but here we are not, heading to 3yrs in courtship.

This isn't about finance but because we have our goals and visions set. It's a 5yrs wait and we look certain and goes stronger each passing day together.
BusinessRe: How To Save More Money As A Nigerian by jwax: 7:53am On Jun 18, 2021
AnonPoet:
In this video, YouTube creator Fisayo Fosudo discuss strategies about saving and growing money.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOCvgGZ8Dk

It’s not a little known fact that Nigeria’s 30,000 Naira minimum wage sits at less than $100 (50,000 Naira) per month. Acccording to Nairametrics, it was revealed that due to the global pandemic, many many Nigerians have no emergency savings. The savings Deposit rate has dropped from 4% to 1.6% in the span of a few years. 40.1 percent of population in Nigeria lives in poverty. 4 out of every 10 people in Nigeria live in poverty (less than $1 (500 Naira) per day) and that’s roughly around 85 million people. This statistics was even before the global pandemic and things have become worse. Narrowed down by states, we have Sokoto and Taraba as the highest rate of poor people in the country where it’s almost at 90% or 9 out of 10 people in poverty there…but I could go on and on and on. This video seeks to help shine the light on already existing principles and how to use them in day to day life and save while keeping costs down. I think you might find value in this. Here are some tips mentioned in the video:

1 - Cut Back on Unnecessary Spending

Adjusting your relationship to money and stop spending frivolously can really help. It really pays to be frugal and it doesn’t mean that you’ll deprive yourself of something valuable. Think of it like you’re paying your future self. You’re not looking to spend tomorrow’s money today because you can’t work forever. There’s a reason why we retire and that’s because we can’t keep doing the same thing till we’re 50, so it’s better to take advantage of that now and when it comes to the time where you can’t work anymore.

2 - Budgeting and Expense Tracking

Budgeting and expense tracking can reveal serious holes and leakages in people’s earnings. For many people, it’s difficult to account for their monthly income. Expense tracking at the end of the month right after you receive your account statement can be highly effective in helping you discover the things that you’re unnecessarily spending on and that you can cut back on.

3 - Saving in a High-Interest Savings Account

One way to stay happy with your finances is to save a very significant portion of your income. Most high savers save as high as 50% of their salary, for some, 30% is tolerable. However, saving can really help people out of a rut and have people set up for emergency purposes or even better, retirement in the long term.

4 - Investing in the Stock Market / Securities

A more advanced way of saving while growing one's money is investing in the stock market or buying shares of publicly traded companies. It can be highly risky but value investing has proven to yield successful results over the long run. This is a great way to hedge against inflation and also make passive income with consistency.

5 - Hack your Rent and Transportation

One of the advantages and also disadvantages of living in Nigeria is the fact that we have to pay the rent yearly, instead of monthly. It’s good because now you don’t have to worry about a monthly bill coming your way for where you live, you only need to worry about things like electricity and charges for services. You don’t have to worry about someone kicking you out. However, that’s also another very bad thing because it’s become so expensive now. You have to cough up almost 500,000 to millions of Naira all at once because you want to rent somewhere. This kind of makes the barrier to living by yourself high.

Anyway, another way to even save way more is by living with a roommate or housemate. If you’re living on your own you should consider a smaller real estate if you need more space, consider living with someone you can trust.

Transportation too is another thing. If you can, you should carpool with your friends on your way to work or school and split uber fares. Again, if you’re young no one cares with your mode of transportation is. As far as you can get to where you’re going, that’s really what matters.

6 - Investing in yourself

It doesn’t directly correlate to saving money but investing money in things that would build up your knowledge base and your skill is unrivalled in creating true wealth.

What are your tips for saving, growing and investing money as a Nigerian?
Nice one.... Since I discovered Piggyvest in 2018, saving has been a critical part of me.

They make it seamless and once a target is met, I convert to dollar asap still on the app to avoid inflation eating it up. One needs to save to invest.

CareerRe: I'm Scared About My Future, Career Wise by jwax: 6:47pm On Jun 08, 2021
I understand your situation.

See OG many of us were once in your shoe but we didn't allow fear to get the better of us.

When I was in school, I knew what was expected of me considering the background I came from.

I was scared of the future but didn't allow that fear to get the better of me.

I dedicated more time on learning new skills and at the same time studying like hell

The worst that will happen to you now is if you leave school without any skill... You may regret it.

Learn that graphic design very well and from there you can upgrade to animation and web.

Secondly, do not dwell on IT skills alone, learn some things outside your course... I was in computer science then but was always finding myself in chemical engineering and food technology department. There I learnt how to make liquid soap, perfume, disinfectants, peanut burger, cookies, and so on to serve as a buffer incase IT skills and certificate fail me.

Today I am glad that after school I have dumped my certificate and hustling with both IT skills and also peanut burger productions which are paying the bills quite well.

You will come out fine if you keep focus and not allow fear of tomorrow to consume you. Peace

PhonesRe: Welcome To Ikeja Computer Village, Kindly Share Your Experience by jwax: 5:37pm On May 12, 2021
I sell in computer village and I am surprise to read about these terrible experiences people have about CV.

You will easily fall when you buy from road side vendors... How can you come to computer village and patronize someone standing by the road side with a phone or calling himself an engineer. There are shops where business men spend hundreds of naira yearly to run their business... They won't easily scam and leave their business behind...

Secondly, people easily get scammed because of outrageous offers. I had the experience of a guy who came last year for iPhone x... The value then was 190k but he went for outrageous offers where they gave him for 150k... His greed led him to fall victim and he was gisting me after the experience. This was someone whom I have given best price but he still doubted and after looking around and seeing the uniform prices, he fell victim for a price that appeared too good to be true...

Victims are their own enemy in computer village... Greed and carelessness most times play a big factor.... The inflation has hit every sector and computer village is not left out, what used to sell for 60k before the lock down now sells close to 200k... You cannot get an old core 2 laptop now for 30k unless you are buying from direct source or a mini ( which is rare).... Seeing these red flags some people ignore it and go for extremely cheap offers, then they get hooked.

Before coming to computer village to buy, it is advisable to compare prices of the product on Jiji and alot of the vendors also market there... Look for vendor rating and don't take those reviews lightly.

Meanwhile, I deal basically on used laptops and I am situated in computer village doing business... You can always contact me for your purchases 08168111666
RomanceRe: In This Economy, Can You Marry Someone Who Earns 60k Monthly? - Nigerians React by jwax: 5:26am On May 10, 2021
Nigerian men shoulder too much responsibilities. Even an ordinary boyfriend here carries the responsibility of what a father of 5 outside carries and this is because of useless societal norms, traditions and religion.

What do you expect when a pastor starts preaching that the man is the head of the house and his mind set and the mind set of the congregants is focused around money! Money! Money...

Person go kill himself say him wan marry.

Las Las Nigeria is moving the way of the west... Contract marriage and baby mama boom is what we will get since our ladies are becoming greedy and bunch of liabilities.

CareerRe: Do I Need To Quit My Job ? by jwax: 12:30pm On Apr 01, 2021
Between 2018 to 2020 I worked and earned 60k monthly as a single guy but the salary was never enough because of other commitments to family.

Mind you my office was trekkable and I wasn't even partying or frivolous but I still found it hard to save... I can understand your pain as a family man earning that amount in this economy of ours.

These salary jobs are not worth it, they are modern day slavery. I had to quit my job with frustration and went into streets to hustle like a school dropout out.

Skin looks burnt, face looks rough but it is better I hustle under the sun legally and be able to feed myself and earn well than to stay under AC in an office slaving for 100k.

For your case, I will advise you exercise patience give yourself 18months target to raise the money for the car and also your wife in this situation must step up and support with some of the bills for the main time.... Once you get the car do not look back, quit that job... Don't even think of combining the bolt driving and your job, just quit and give your hustle your best...

I bet You, you will experience frustration from law enforcement agencies in the first months of you starting but don't give up. With time you will look back and smile...

It has been less than a year since I resigned from paid employment and I am grateful to God for taking that decision to quit.

Shalom!

The name calling and perfect remembrance of the names of people involved in this plot is suspicious.

Not that I don't know what Nigerians can do but this allegation needs to be thoroughly investigated.

A planned action like that where a teenage girl is brought to a commissioner's house with perpetrators fully on ground, the commissioner can rape while you scream your lungs out with help.

On a second thought, perhaps maybe the commissioner requested for an adult who will be fully aware of what is required of her but was given a minor whom he thought must have been briefed.

On a third thought grin Maybe it was an attempt to use the girl for ritual purpose but after the incantation the girl's head refused to fall cos she is stronger.

On a fourth thought grin What am i even saying? undecided

I strongly believe you are under a test and your continuous delay is puncturing a hole to your integrity.

The dismissal, the payment are not mere coincidence.

BusinessRe: After NYSC, I Want To Buy Bike by jwax: 9:53pm On Aug 13, 2020
I understand that feeling. I rounded off with Nysc 2017 and discovered that friends I left at home for school have gone far far ahead of me in life. Some have even married and started businesses for their wives.

I was filled with regrets and wishes. Toiled the city of Lagos seeking for job until I settled with a 60k a month teaching job. Stayed there for 2½yrs wasting away until I joined a friend whom we served together in his business and right now I feel confident about where I am going to. The future looks clearer now for me compared to when I was wasting as a teacher.

My advice for you is to stay focused and draw motivation from their achievements. School is scam but one good thing about it is that it stirs up a raging hunger for success in you and when that hunger clicks with your acquired skills and knowledge you can easily surpass your pears. Stay focused
RomanceRe: We Ain't Dating Yet - Should I Get Her A Phone? by jwax: 6:31am On Aug 07, 2020
Don't get her the phone yet so it won't look like the phone is the bait you want to use to woo her.

I think you should sit her down and communicate how you feel to her. Shoot your shots and if she accepts good, if she doesn't accept fine. If your mind is still made up to assist her no matter her response you can go ahead and purchase the phone for her but just don't buy the phone for her first.

Don't make it look like because you purchased her a phone, you want her to date you or open her legs for you. Be a gentleman

some of you are simply mad for following money blindly !
you complain of low income. 62k every month with health insurance. so in a month transport is around 5k, you have 57k to do as you like. your income is good. many will want to be in your shoes with low transport expenditure. tell your family members to also look for work.

i know some people that complain of their work and when you ask where dey live. they tell you lekki. i laugh. lekki is for rich people that can afford paying tolls. why you wan move around like a rich man when you are not? your transport expense go burn like candle on your manageable income. dont chase money blindly.
Mr, the fire is not about chasing money but seeing my future with that organization.

There is no future there and I cannot stay wasted there.

There has always been a burning desire to go into street. I don't live like a rich man and 62k goes no where. After taking out transport and you are left with 57k, with normal stipend to drop for your mom what will the remaining 47k do for you?

How much will.you save, and how much will you eat with? How long will you continue to calculate before you eat or how long will you continue with such lifestyle to start a family?

Think. If you are comfortable with poverty not everyone is.

As long as it is not a multinational private firm my brother there is no future there.

I have quit that job and I have entered street. Far far away from my comfort zone. Like I said, my destiny is in my hand. If I perish I perish but I know I won't perish.
