Foolish Post, British airways leaves Nigeria @ 10.35pm daily. |
This is to all UAC aspirants, just to share some important info with you. I was in your shoes some 8 years back. I wrote the UAC commercial trainee test in 2006 May 2006 and eventually resumed there in sept of same year (I shared the testimony then on this same forum). Anyway am sharing this to help you guys on how to prepare for their interview which i believe is still the same format. Before i proceed further i will like to correct an impression that a dude gave earlier on the thread that he has already gotten the job through internal connection. I beg to differ with the guy. That assertion of his seems like a lie. UAC is one of the companies that still recruit strictly on merit. The interview is usually at 2 levels, the first being an interview with a panel of 4-6 senior officers of their different subsidiaries and in the interview expect anything. Anything meaning it could be as serious as to ask u about what u know about a current govt policy or as trivial as EPL premiership scores of the previous week. Current affairs and general knowledge. interview for each person could last for btw 30-45mins. I could remember i was asked to talk about 3 policies of OBJ's govt that were recently implemented.( I talked about the banking reform, Insurance sector reform and the maritime reform then). I also remembered being asked some tricky questions like who is the "president of the UK" an dthis had to be exlained that they do not have one. Summary of what to prepare for in the 1st stage is that you should be aware of current happenings in the country and beyond, know about the company very well and also be very confident. As at then only about 160 of us were selected for the 1st level interview and about 50 or thereabout were called for the 2nd stage. we were divided into 4 comprising of 12 in each group. The 2nd stage interview usually takes the whole day. 4 stages in all. The first stage then had 4 mgt staff 2 MD's of Subsidiaries and 2 directors in my own group. They all introduced themselves and discussed their profile (name, qualification, job experience, lenght of time in UAC amongst other things. we were then asked to follow suit, all the other interviewees will be hearing u, so u take note to speak out loud and clear. This stage took close to an hour after which we were served breakfast. After the breakfast the sitting arrangement with our name tags was altered and we were given a passage to read and discuss answers to the 2 questions after the passage. The Ogas were taking notes while the discussion was going on among us. (i think the essence was to see your ability to work in a team). This took a little over 30mins and for the 3rd stage u will be asked to pick any wrapped paper (devils basket) in a container and whatever topic you see in it should be discussed. Like u making a presentation of whatever you find in it. I remembered my topic was Social security and i was done in 5 minutes before i started babbling due to my little knowledge of the topic. some were fortunate to have simpler topics like "nollywood". after this stage was lunch. The 4th and final stage was one on one interview with the directors again and it was just like the 1st level interview where the questions could come from any angle. AT this stage there is a possibility of getting questions related to your course. pretty straight and u may stay inside for up to 20 minutes. Just be confident and be cool. Lastly to tell you how i asserted that the dude that claimed to have started there already may not be saying the truth is that, after the final interview, 13 people resumed 1st week of august 2006 and i wasnt among them. I was then called to come for medicals on 31st August and i eventually resumed mid september. It was on my resumption that i found out that one of the 13 resigned 3 weeks after they started and i was called to fill up the space. I had friends that had insider in UAC but they were not called when i was called. I was called to make up the 13 and after i resumed 4 months later i wasnt replaced. i hope my piece will help one or 2 peeps on this forum. I wish u all the best, i will be available for more comments later in the days. cheers ( |
zenith pays 35k ands u are 95% sure that you will be retained. Zenith's pay is the best now in the industry with effect from end of october. Zenith is a better choice. |
call 012703151 or 012703161 ask to be connected to HR. explain the situation to whoever picksup the call.wish u all the best . |
first i must respond to the reply posted by coolesmile, the response sounded boastful and proud. that is rather bad, Thank God that u are getting a job with a good bank like zenith but u should not grag and think u are getter than others. i am a staff of the bank and the whole process right from the time i applied till i got the job took like a year and 5 months. while for a friend that applied thru me did the whole stages in 3weeks and he even got his letter before me. That ur process was all under 3months does not mean u are good but only fortunate. thats the truth. Ask for God's forgiveness for been boastful. as for the person that started the thread, since u have been called for test , it must be for entry level position u have been called for. just get prepared , the structure of the test is 100 questions to be answered in 2hours, dont be decieved by the time, it may not be enuff for u. there will be 4 sections, sentence correction, critical reasoning, data sufficiency and reading comprehension. wish u all the best. for those that are still waiting to be called, keep ur hopes high if u are still under 27 and u have a 2.1. For all that are looking to God for a job keep the faith high. God wil answer ur prayers. have a lovely week. |
abacha, i will like to congratulate u at least for how far u have gone. the key thing is patience, though it may take months or weeks before u are called for interview after any test just be patient and continue in prayers. Please dont be discouraged. u will surely get a place when the time comes. this also goes to every other person in the market (job) keep on trying u will hit it right soonest. as God did it for me and so many others he will do it for u. all the best. |
I got mine too. My 2nd time in 5 months writing this on nairaland. God is really doing wonders. for those that are still trusting God for a Job. Keep your faith high. he will surely do it. Wish u all the best. |
i just want to say a big thankyou to all have taken their time to wish me well and congratulate me i am most grateful. for those of you still searching, just keep your faith high the lord willdo it for you. Once again tanx so much. |
hi, Nairaland users, I just got a job offer from UAC (commercial trainee). All thanks be to God. I pray yours will come soon. Just keep on praying. |
@masterP its hard to believe that igbos were told to go away for the following reasons, d MD of the bank Frank Atuche is an Igbo man, the vice Chairman Prof Pat Utomi is an Igbo man, so its kind of hard to believe. Bank PHB test is organised by consultants (Leading edge). i think the test is organised according to their regions. they had one in ibadan sometime in June and i heard they are preparing for one in lagos. though i do not have anything to do with the bank am just trying to correct a wrong impression u may have about them. wish u the best. |
abacha never lose hope u could still be called. when i wrote the test we were told that we will be called for interview 3 days later (saturday after). but we never heard anything. i had completely forgotten about it until i was called last monday to come for interview this last saturday. so never lose hope some of the people that were there for the interview had done the test as far back as february, april, mine was may and some people that did the chat and test last week were with us too. i guess they keep records so if u are not called now u may be called later. i wish u all the best .cheers. |
@adamawa, pls i will like to know when u did the interview cos i had a panel interview there last saturday. i had the chat and the test last may. please when did u hear from them. did u just do the interview last week saturday? pls lets read from you. |
great news, tanx a lot hardware. the likes of dutty barber will not come if he comes he is an , for those that needs the format, it will be in 2 parts verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning. the numrical reasoning is the same thing (word for word) that Nigerian breweries brought out last week. so for those that did the NB plc. test try to recall as much as u can. then the verbal reasoning is the normal GMAT format of critical reasoning, sentence correction, and reading comprehension. speed is important. see u guys there on friday. all the best. |
pls wen did u apply. pls send the details, time venue etc. pleaseeeeeeeeee |
i think i can give u a few authoritatively. Ecobank - 1.68m per annum. all figures are the gross. ETB- 2m UBA-750k but rumour is goin round that it will be increased by next month. GTB-1.4m Zenith- 1.4m also rumours about increase soon. FCMB its a range of 1.2-1.7m performance driven. intercontinental is about 1.6m. i got to know this figures cos i have friends there. contrary opinions are welcomed. |
ashala, u may be called immediately after the chat. when i had my own chat around may, i got the text that i should come for the test before i got home that day. so be on the look out. wish you all the best. |
[Den again wit d quality of grads public institutions r producing, im nt surprised. i understand dis boy beta now, i think its not really worth it replying him. I guess he should be one of the spoilt brats that dady always organise things for. let him continue running in the mouth. yeye boy. |
congratulations to u. a friend of mine called me too that they said she should come and collect her letter 2day 4pm at their office. congrats to u guys. our own too go come soon. o amen |
pls iw ill advise u dont get urself worked up on UBA, they seem to be uncoordinated. just pray that u hear from them or that God should provide a better job b4 they finally get their acts together. but alll the talk that they will start calling people to start work in august may not be true after all. they did the same thing last year Dec/Nov. Hope am not sounding discouraging? Cheers. |
The test is very simple, it is comprised of 3 sections, english, maths and current affairs. i will give u some questions of the current affairs that i can still remember. 1 the name of EFCC chairman 2 which banks merged to become intercontinental bank. 3. which country hosted the 2006 world cup. 4 the name of the DG of nigerian stock exchange 5. the equivalent of federal reserve of america in nigeria. (CBN) will try to post some more if i can recall them. all the best. |
sorry for the mistake. i wanted to write interview. I wish u success. just be mindful of the time. |
its basically GMAT. critical reasoning, sentence corretion, synonyms and antonyms then some spatial stuffs. its a mix of the local GMAT and the foreign one. u have to be fast. u will 60minutes to answer 75 questions. be prepared u may do the test the fllowing day. dats what they did at ibadan. wish u all the best. |
the HR is at saka tinubu they will not accept it at the HQ on adetokunbo ademola. go try ur luck there, am not sure of the number but it is opposite the junction b4 glo office if u enter from akin adesola. all the best. |
duttybarber or what do u call urself. i pity ur type. like the last person asked u do u think that getting called for test guarantees u getting a job? just because u got called for this one test u now see urself as a tin god? i pity u once again. even if u have to air ur opinion it doesnt have to be in a rude manner. u sound rude, uncouth and uncultured refering to people in a public forum like this as assholes, u are the real asshole. go there and write ur ODO on saturday. to all others who were duly invited i wish u the very best. to all intending gatecrashers too, wish u the best but pls dont make trouble there. cheers all. |
i guess u are the dumb one. The fact that u were not called does not mean that u will not do the test. experience has shown dat u could gate crash and be allowed to pass. a good example is the last bank PHB test at ibadan. gatecrashers were allowed to write their names at the end of the test. thank God i am one of the successful gatecrashers. i was called later to clarify somethings about me. apart from my own experience i have seen others to that did it and they were called for interview. The only thing i will say about gatecrashing is that if u want to u have to look at the situation on ground to know if its possible, if its not then dont bother in order not to embarass urself or cause trouble for others there. The assumption that if u were not called it means u dont have the requisite qualification is very wrong. it is far from the truth. i will say the writer was biased and not objective at all. last word IF U HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GATECARSH PLEASE DOOO. DONT MIND THE PERSON THAT SENT THE POST. |
bros, the mail u got is a scam. the content is actually different from what the US DV office sends to winners. so be careful. The US DV lottery is not in any way related to canada. beware. |
i also did the final interview with UACN, but i havent heard anything from them. U seem to be the only one have heard of so far that has heard from them. i have called some other guys to know if they have heard anything. but none of them replied positive. did u do the medicals today? how many of u were invited for it. pls lets hear from you. cheers. |
hi nairalanders, has any other person heard from Nb plc? i wonder why no one responded to the post, that someone has heard from them. what is really happening? |
toni pls dont stop try to at least send a reply to let nairalkanders no that u are no longer angry. will call u to beg again. and u must change. May God continue to bless you. |
get hold of thompson petersons GMAT, the criticall reasoning part was lifted from the book, then the IEC gmat has some useful questions too lifted from it. its going to be 70 questions to be answered in 1hour. be very mindful of the time its not so hard but watch it no to waste to much time on maths and critical reasoning. wish u the best. |
