PropertiesRe: Welcome To My House by K2: 5:23pm On Apr 06, 2010
I envy y'all starting from Iceblue's post. I've always dreamt of living a normal life in Naija. Having neighbors, all the little banters and whot not. I'm just imagining how what some referred to as inconveniences would actually be what I'd have termed as fun and normal everday life. smiley
RomanceRe: Why Do Some People Fall In Love Online? by K2: 4:26pm On Feb 17, 2010
There are exceptions to every rule. Meeting someone online has nothing to do with shyness, timidity or other lame excuses. Life is not always black & white. Also, tThe nature of one's work, life may leave room for few social interaction as the case may be.
Met my wife online. We've been happily married for 6yrs now with 2 wonderful children. In fact, this morning we still reminisce about how we couldn't imagine our lives without each other. Even if God doesn't answer anymore of my prayers, I'm content with this. That's how fortunate I count myself for having her in my life.

TravelRe: Nigeria In Kosovo Can Youplease Tell Me How The Country Look Like by K2: 8:22pm On Nov 02, 2009
I can never seem to understand the ITKs in this Travel Section. Good for you if you are living in "comfort". Thank God. Have you been to Kosovo? Most replies indicated negative but are quick to dispute someone who claimed to have been there? So they resort to posting pictures found on the internet which doesn't paint a complete picture of any country. One could find worse pics of the US, UK and whatever fine country you might be living in presently and post it. Does that folks mean one shouldn't bother immigrating to the country or does that tell the complete story? No one is in the monopoly of knowledge. Where one could provide help, or where someone could provide information, let's give them the benefit of the doubt instead of shutting down all opinions contrary to ours.

@multebrain , You are an adult that should be able to sift the wheat from the chaff.

@amhurting, I know he moved heaven and earth to bring you to Europe, but based on what you've told us, have you considered that he might not be interested again? He's probably bored and had (sorry for the use of the words) "buyer's remorse". May be he's not who God planned for you. I know first hand. If someone doesn't appreciate who you are, someone else would come along who does especially if you are doing all that stuff you said you did which could make the heart of many men melt. Keep your head up and keep busy with other stuff. It wouldn't happen overnight but you'd get over it and meet someone who'd care for you even more. Don't feel guilty because of what he's done. He's using that guilt to torture you. Forgive yourself and move on. Been there done that!!!

I agree with Walebanks in a way. If anyone could jet out, by all means do. The politicians have made Nigeria into a big joke. The beer parlor discussions of the Legislathieves shows you that it's every man for himself.
And to piggyback on what Olymk said, not everyone is a fraudster and folks are matured enough to make these decisions for themselves.

PropertiesSome Real Estate Questions by K2(op): 4:07pm On Sep 17, 2009
Hi all, I have some questions that hopefully the house could direct me in the right path. I'm considering going massively into Real Estate in different parts of Nigeria: specifically, Lagos, PH, Abeokuta and Ibadan, Abuja.
1.In all these cities, where are areas of high demand for rental purposes commercial and residential?

2. Between Opebi in Ikeja, Ikoyi & V/I which should command higher premium when one wants to buy a land or property comparing same size lots/buidlings?

3. Do one need an agent all the time to market their buildings for rent or sale?

4. Which of the above cities have witnessed higher real estate appreciation than others?

Thanks for your inpt.

Abi that's the kind of person you are? We are talking about marriage here not girl friend runs. We all know what goes on in Xmas  escapades. It's a very common practise unless you are a eunuch or gay. I wouldn't play with a match unless I want to start  some fire.

@Udode. Ok.

Udode:
I have been to nigeria this spring (march) and I really loved it. But i have to say that the uncle of my husband had been kidnapped that time and only got released after they payed a big amount of money. So i know that kidnapping is there. And I have to admit that it was not much fun being afraid all the time.

I am just angry because i think that these kidnapping issues will not have an end soon, which means that i will not be able to travel to nigeria?!? NO iw ill def. not accept that,

I know i have to be careful (i hardly went out on the streets this summer and i was always accompanied by several people. But these people are telling my husband that things have got worse, which makes him and myself very unsure!
Women of other culture married to Nigerians and wanting to be a part of their culture like you are a rarity. As much as it'd be much fun to go to the village with your husband during Xmas, I'd suggest that you take your husband's advice. It's just too dangerous. Flying into PH also doesn't help matters. Anambra also has been witnessing increase in armed robberies and kidnapping as well. It's possible you'd be a conspicuos target. Why don't you suggest to your husband you guys spend it in another part of Naija or go somewhere else? Also, I wouldn't trust the scenario whereby the husband would spend Xmas by himself in the village. Village girls aplenty would have other plans and also other girls returing from the big city.
TravelRe: I-130 Form......petition for alien relative(u.s.a) by K2: 10:27pm On May 28, 2009
Read Here http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=0775667706f7d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
In a nutshell

Preference Categories
If you wish to immigrate as a relative of a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident, you must obtain an immigrant visa number based on the preference category in which you fall.

People who want to become immigrants are classified into categories based on a preference system. The immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, which includes parents, spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, do not have to wait for an immigrant visa number to become available once the visa petition filed for them is approved by USCIS. An immigrant visa number will become immediately available. The relatives in the remaining categories must wait for an immigrant visa number to become available according to the following preferences:

First preference: Unmarried, adult sons and daughters of U.S. citizens. Adult means 21 years of age or older.
Second Preference: Spouses of lawful permanent residents, their unmarried children (under twenty-one), and the unmarried sons and daughters of lawful permanent residents.
Third Preference: Married sons and daughters of U.S. Citizens.
Fourth Preference: Brothers and sisters of adult U.S. Citizens.
Once USCIS receives your visa petition (Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative), it will be approved or denied. USCIS notifies the person who filed the visa petition of the petition was approved. USCIS will then send the approved visa petition to the Department of State's National Visa Center, where it will remain until an immigrant visa number is available. The Center will notify the foreign national when the visa petition is received and again when an immigrant visa number is available. You do not need to contact the National Visa Center, unless you change your address or there is a change in your personal situation, or that of your sponsor, that may affect eligibility for an immigrant visa, such as reaching age 21, marriage, divorce, or death of a spouse.
TravelRe: I-130 Form......petition for alien relative(u.s.a) by K2: 8:12pm On May 27, 2009
He could file for you at any rate but your chances of joining him sooner depends on your age and marital status. Less than 21 and unmarried faster; married and/or above 21 longer.
Also dig into this website and you'd be fine. http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=34

Investing Willy-nilly in the NSE is at your own risk even with the "bottom out" prices. The confidence is not there. Look at what some money bags have been doing to prop up and crash prices a la Otedola vs Dangote feud? Only God knows how many books are being cooked in the financial sector. Even FG just decided to shun the market and damn the consequences. I say hold your funds until the dust settles. Cash is King at the moment.

Thanks I already stated what I needed from my post , please read "from those who are already living in US" . Someone who is presently on work permit is processing Green Card and I just want to confirm for him what average waiting period is. I think he lives in Florida or Georgia , but i don't think that matters. Thanks
I don't know if anyone could really nail it down. It depends on a number of factors. Read here if you haven't. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=0775667706f7d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD
if you are applying base on marriage to a green card holder, em em that is another long wait. . . actually you can't file if you are married to a green card holder. the green card holder has to get his or her citizenship to be able to file for you.

like Mag said elaborate  wink no cunny cunny to the ans my dear feli feli
Actually that's a misinformation. A Green card holder could petition for their spouse and even unmarried children under 21. The only difference is that they'd have to wait for Visa number to become available. However, with a USC it's automatic. No wait for Visa number. Feli, unless you state your category, and may be your range, we might not be able to really assist.

Bandiejay, as much as I'd love to hear the remainder of your story, I'd advise you not to continue. Instead, contact someone that works in Nollywood or a TV station, cut a deal. Sign a contract for a documentary or movie or whatever. They'd embellish your story a bit to make it marketable don't mind. That way you'd get to make money from your experience. I know I'd certainly would wanna watch it :Thumds uP:

@Smartmoves, Take Kweenisha up on her offer. I think she's on to something. Government generally have something for Latinos. A friend's wife came from Ireland and stayed with us and gave birth this past summer. They had an arrangement with some Naija doctors in Providence Hosp where they gave them $6,000 and everything was taken care of. It was later that I was told by my sis that they could have avoided those fees. I'll try to help you check.
TravelRe: I Want To Give Birth In Us by K2: 8:45pm On Dec 03, 2008
Like others said, just buy the ticket but make sure you are not too heavy or airline officials may decline to board you. If you come to the Washington DC area, preferably you have folks in the area, let them inquire about Providence Hospital. If you do your due diligence, you'd end up not paying a dime for your hospital costs. G'Luck.
Naomibaby, You made the word "CROSS" sounded as if its like crossing from Morocco to Spain, instead of you to speak for ur self and ur ability to procure visas, i wonder what ur friend is waiting for before he/she gets to Obamaland.
For your information, Syrians will pay $5000 to cross over to the USA if it were possible, and now that its Obamaland, that amount would double. All i m tryin to say is for you to update yourself with international affairs. Syria can be likened to Cuba of which having their visa on ur passport can cause a stir at the USA embassy anywhere in the world, and lead to multiple question and eventual denial. This is not meant to rubbish your post, i take it you were probably mislead by ur friend in syria. In Malaysia the only crossing that might still be available is via education with an America affilated institution. Thats if it hasnt been bastardized. I Know of 2friend here in Obamaland who cross to do their masters after their first degree with an american affilated institution based in Malaysia but this was 6yrs ago,
This is very true. Even worse. The Syrian government is seen as a sponsor of terrorism by the US.
