all these is just useless rhetoric used to blackmail sincere christians. . . . Oh, if you cant give 10% percent all the time then you cant possibly love god. This IS A LIE. A man gives offerings every sunday, pays first fruit, give prophet seed, pays building offering, donates for pastors welfare, gives to the poor, helps widows and orphans BUT as long he doesnt give 10% of his dough to pastor all these are in vain , as he doesnt 'love'' God and is therefore ''cursed''. . . . You are all THIEVes. The instruction is GIVE and it shall be given unto you NOT ''give 10% and it shall be given unto you''. Where is it written that god blesses you based on the 10% that you give? You are supposed to give based on the promptings of the holy spirit or out of the abundance of your heart, be it 10, 5, 50, or 133%. To teach that there is a CUMPULSORY levy by god of 10% is unbiblical and criminal.
Read over what I wrote again very well, comprehend, and then you may respond. Secondly, I would probably not discuss much with you because what you have cited exhibits the deficiency common in someone who has only skimmed and not studied their Bible: Mixing, mashing and lumping scriptures together with absolute disregard for context. Let me ask you, have you studied the entire Bible? Do you know how tithes came about? Do you know the different offerings and tithes established by God in the Old Testament? Have you read that Abraham gave tithes? The first step to this is not declaring that tithe is criminal based on the half knowledge you have displayed on the issue which is deadlier than ignorance. I would suggest you actually prayerfully study (not read) your Bible right from Genesis to Revelation. A study Bible or bible with concordance will be of a great help in doing this. If you do this, not only will you understand God more, your life will change, you’d also begin to get a grasp of other Christian doctrines and not only tithes and be able to “rightly divide the word of truth”. |
ogajim:They are all related. If you have truly surrendered your life to Christ, you'd have no problem paying tithes; if you have no problem paying tithes, you shouldn't have problems coming out to present your tithes. The question is have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord (this is key) and Savior and relinquish the ownership of you life to Him? If you have skipped this first step which is the foundation, you'd have a very hard time and even struggle with duties and obligations of a Christian; you’d only pick and choose what to follow both from the Bible and from what comes out from the preacher. That’s why I said for a Christian 10% is nothing because what God demands is our all. On the other hand, why attend a church if you don't believe in their doctrines or practice? |
@OP, If you are struggling to pay just 10% to God, it's either out of ignorance, or something is really wrong or you've not genuinely surrendered your life to Christ. What's 10% of your money when what God demands from every Christian is far greater? We all know that God doesn't not need our money to survive but it's a concept He's trying to teach us. Are we able to trust Him to supply all our needs based on 90% that we keep? Are we able to give our all to Him? Giving 10% is nothing. In fact, tithe is just the floor level. Read your Bible very very well. Examine the giving life of Abraham- study why God said He'd truly bless him; Study about Solomon-read what made God to appear to him and promise him great riches; Study-David. Also study when they were to build the tabernacle and the people gave so much that Moses had to tell them to stop giving. The reason I'm saying study is that it's possible just to browse the Bible and not get inspiration. Likewise, look at the New Testament. God gave all, "His only begotten Son". Look at the Apostles in the early church. The bible said each sold whatever they had and laid it at the apostles' feet. Now tell me which is more all or 10%? Let me also shock you, in refrence to your saying about waiting for God in an extraordinary way to personally minister to you before you start tithing, there are some things that God wouldn't minister personally to you when He's already sending someone to you or making avenue for you to know and practise them. Examples abound in the Bible of this. Being born again is easy but the cost of discipleship, a responsible member of the body of Christ is very very high. I submit to you that you cannot die for Christ's work or sacrifice to His cause if 10% (floor level) is a big deal to you. |
@Kingboy, Some suggestions: plan your time, let hubby help out with the kids(hopefully you've helped hubby out in the past), feed them and put them to bed early. Your routine, the age of the kids, would help us give more precise solutions. |
Well I wrote this before the aliens invaded the board and took our posts hostage. @Ijoseda, what part of PH do you live? And if still remember correctly, Gbagada used to be Phase 1 & 2 are they still doing that? @Icey, You don turn rewire abi na radionic sef, Speaking of which, I remember we use to have 3 lines coming into our building. We just switch the fuse back and forth. There was the phrase when non of the phases have power we'd say, it's general. Do they still have or say half-current? Come o, Isn't Cele, the bus stop on the way to Mile 2? Why are folks rushing to use the bridge? Back in the day, people to just cut across anyhow. |
looks like our post over the past few days have been wiped off. ![]() |
@ Friend, if N500,000 is all you've got left it might be a problem and it's possible it might not be. I'd suggest also that you never tell them you have any uncle or relative or whatever there. You already said you're staying in an hotel so I don't think you need to mention if you any contact in the US. Remember, all the interview is is trying to convince your interviewer that you'd not abscond. The guideline for them is to always assume that anyone applying for a visa wouldn't come back. Personally, I'd have suggested traveling to other countries first if this is your first time abroad. However, anything is possible. Goodluck! |

kingboy:I'm still looking. Haven't been able to make up my mind yet. It's like you see one then you another that has some features you like. I'd try and take my time. |
Where's Icewater and the rest of the crew? Is Naija still on holiday? |
@Justwise, It's quite noble that you are trying to rid the board of scammers; however, I think you might be taking this too far. No one has the monopoly of knowledge not even you. The guy described from his posts his experience in Poland and what he was able to do and moves he made. I think unless you've lived in Poland or gone through the same process, it's kind of disingenuos to brand him a scammer just because you've never had his experience or don't know how the process in Poland works. I think we should err on the side of helping and assisting each other vice having our thumbs at the trigger ready to shoot down contrary views. You are in the UK; thank God for that, but lots more of our people need help to other countries as well. That's why many come here to seek counsel. This forum should be able to do that. @Mikkyangel, Good post. |
@Babyme, I think i went to Gwarinpa when I was in Abj. Isn't it a bit far from the city center like Asokoro or so? I like Abuja too. It's a really nice city. I hope the work of El Rufai won't be rubbished. @Kingboy, Can you believe that we can't just seem to make up our mind anymore? This morning I was reminded again of one that we went to last year and I remembered how beautiful it was. Some does have some stuff more than others. There's a common saying here. The decision to buy a house (at least on the apperance) is always made by the woman. If she's not impressed, forget it. ANd what they target is, the master bedroom with all its trappings, kitchen and others. |
iceblue:So far from what I saw, it wasn't biased. It's more of giving accolades to the people showcased; how one could live happily and even thrive under the worst circumstances. I guess I should replace happy with proud. Of course FG, politicians and past rulers would be angry because their yansh has been exposed. They can no longer lie that their rule benefited Nigerians. Meanwhile, I'm sad because it's not supposed to be so. We've kind of conditioned ourselves to be used to suffering and accept that as our fate in the midst of plenty. There should be a violent resistance. Consequently, I'm angry because the criminals who stole all our billions are still walking free and some are even preparing to loot some more by coming back and using our wealth to torment us. I've not watched the 3rd Episode. I'm looking for it. One can't access BBC's videos online in the U.S.(I think) so I've been relying on bits from Youtube. |
So they still do Environmental Sanitation? Btw, how man has seen that BBC documentary about Lagos? I was happy, sad, and angry at the same time. ![]() |
@Axeman85, Welcome back o. I bin think say you follow dem carry sacrifice of white "cockrel" and palm oil to appease the volcano? lol @Maskuraid, You be Landlord for Lagos? I wan be Landlord o,---for Lagos, Anyhow, how're folks supposed to come up with 600k, bank loans? |
dominique:The sad commentary is what he said in that song that they warned him that the way he's living his life could make him die young. I never knew who the guy was until yesterday when they announced his death. So sad. |
I'm almost shedding tears from laughter. ![]() |
iceblue:Iceblock, you need to comot from inside that freezer compartment o. No wonder you dey lost. |
@Lawyer, How you dey? @Kingboy, Based on what you wrote, the idea I had in mind might not work becuase of greed and because demand outstrips supply. It'd be more convenient and cost effective though. |
Sorry guys, I want to ask more questions. Who pays the agent? The tenant or landlord or both? Also, why are there not much direct leases is that due to agents collusion? |
@All. Thanks for the education. Wouldn't have considered that rain is the X-ray. lol Btw, why does one need agent sef? From all the exhorbitant fees that I hear they charge? |
gmattutor:I agree you with you on that price increase stuff. My Fam was renting a house in Ajao Estate for like 2M, now comes the time to renew earlier this year the owner said he wants 4m. Thank God popsy just completed another villa in Lagos, na like film trick he do the guy, they just packed and left the place for the landlord. I'm not sure but I think it might still be vacant still be vacant. Anyhow, me too I wan become Lagos Landlord oh. Not like those taking advantage to folks. I'm mostly likely looking to buy an existing structure, open to lands too sha. |
iceblue:Bring me up to speed. What has rain got to do with house hunting? |
iceblue:How about the inverter folks talk about to solve your electricity problem? |
gmattutor:Park in Lagos? That's a first. The last time I saw a park in Naija was in Abuja back '06. The millenium park. I actually like this park initiative. Do folks visit the park? Is it safe, clean well maintained? You know sometimes how our people put some nice projects but visit the place a year or two later and it's down the tubes. |
@Iceblock, The taxes are actually not that bad. If it were to be in Uk, then that's a whole different ball game. The taxes are why we get the 24hrs electricity, good roads, pay police, fire and medical emergency folks. Also, the US generally provide incentives for one to own their homes. Right now for a first time home buyer, one could get up more than $8,000 just because they're buying their first home. Also, when you file your taxes, you get some money back you could deduct your housing expenses like mortgage, insurance etc The last day to file was actually yesterday for 2009. Most folks do get lots of money back from the government. Check this out. The price is a bit on the high end though. http://pix1.homevisit.com/tourLite/?id=30292&skin=&ver= |
iceblue:I know you're kidding now. Trust me; I have a good sense of humor. I'll take yours and Maskuraid(shey na Eyo, Egungun, Igunnuko, Atilogwu, abi Ojuju?). Anyhow, I live in Yankee. I'm in the area referred to as DMV. Mainly 3 states bothering each Washington DC(not really a state just like FCT),Maryland & Virginia. Being in this area provides some advantages in house hunting. Fest, unlike naija we dey pay several taxes. Federal, State, sometimes county and city tax (income). You also pay property tax based on the assessed value of your home. In addition you may also pay HOA (Homeowners Owners Association) dues for any place where you share common areas with other homeowners. Therefore, one of the things to consider apart from proximity is the tax rate of the state or county (similar to LGA in Naija) one is moving to. Another thing to keep him is that there several types of dwellings: Condominiums, Apartments, Town Houses(bunch of houses built & attached together you might be sharing a wall with your neighbor, Single Family houses etc By the way, you know most of the time one don’t build houses from scratch, the plan is already prepared by the builder/developer. If it’s new construction, you could just add or remove options based on their blue print. Other times one just go ahead and buy the ones that are already built. I’m just cutting stuff short but you get the gist. The big advantage is also is that one could shop online. That’s how we bought our first house. I think that’s probably how 80% of houses for sale are found. You could also do virtual tours and see the pictures of the house. |

iceblue:Trust our pple to murder the username. Na K2 as in the 2nd highest mountain in Africa( I think). Never thought of Ketu until this thread. lol Thanks for the asking. The allergy is a bit better. i need to go and pick up some prescriptions. Anyhow, like I said, not much gist. We are currently shopping for a home. Where we live now is close to work and other stuff but it's about an hour's drive each way to church. We are trying to relocate to an area that's in between. By the way, where we currently live now is dominated by hispanics. We went to one new construction on Sunday but we don't really like the setup. It was also kinda small space wise. |
^^^^^ Na only business magnet, business rubber and iron ore nko? Shameless folx. |
iceblue:Ice, I wrote somn 2 days ago but it wiped off. I don't think mine experience would be interesting like you guys. I live in the Diaspora. The past few days na just allergy dey torture person with all the high pollens. From eyes to nose. The worst one na inside throat.
