@Gbengaijot. Yes it's possible to have backup brokers.

@Everyone, avoid Cashcraft if you could at all cost. I just informed them today that I'm transferring out my account. The weird thing is that my rep is great in customer service but Cashcraft as a brokerage sucks.

@Enolase. Bill is not that worried about his status as the richest person. He's focusing his energy more into helping humanity and eradicating ills that have eluded cures with the same passion and intensity he used in building Microsoft. He has given away more than $26bn to his foundation. That might answer another reason why is networth dropped. Plus the Carlos guy doesn't really believe in giving money away (though he has). He said it himself.
BusinessRe: World Millionaire Statistics by K2: 1:59pm On Jun 18, 2007
@Seun. And that's the wise way to be and stay rich. Being rich is more about control financially. Only a fool would have all his billion or million liquid (at least in the Western world). Taxes would eat a huge chunk followed by inflation, frivolous lawsuits etc Additionally, it also depends on what you mean by overvalued. Google is not and neither is Microsoft. By the way, Bill Gates sells millions of his shares every quarter to diversify and the stock is still rock solid.

InvestmentRe: First Bank's 100 Billion Naira Share Offer by K2: 2:43pm On Jun 12, 2007
I want to correct something real quick. There's nothing wrong in being in a long term investor once you identify a fundamentally sound stock. I see folks advocating saying no to PO and pulling in and out of stocks. If that works for you that's fine. It just means you are a trader and not an investor. While you are making this hefty returns in a short time, remember that you can also easily be burned and miss out on awesome returns long term especially when the market gets more sophisticated. To my long term folks, don't be dissuaded, that's how Warren Buffett got where he is. Where are all the day traders of the 90's on NYSE and NASDAQ and those that were mocking him? If you had invested 100k in FBN in 1994, you'd have over N10m today. Enough said.
InvestmentRe: First Bank's 100 Billion Naira Share Offer by K2: 4:53pm On Jun 01, 2007
@ Frank.  This a bit like comparing apples and oranges. First, Dangote was making a post IPO run and you know sooner or later it'll peak. It had even more than doubled post IPO at 40s,which is not an everyday occurrence. FBN on the other hand is still at the starting block, and with all the handwritting on the wall shows there's a lot of upside post PO. This is not a moribund stock.  Unless there's an emergency, or we are in a bear market, given this scenario and atmosphere, I'd never sell @N31. That defines my loss. I'm a long term investor anyway and not a trader. If my investment appreciates rather quickly it's an extra bonus.
InvestmentRe: First Bank's 100 Billion Naira Share Offer by K2: 3:29pm On May 31, 2007
@Mishoo. I don't know anyone who in their right mind who would be willing to sell FBN shares to your brother on the floor at N31 (current rights issue price)when FBN last traded at N40.40? A loss of N9.40?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by K2: 5:06pm On May 29, 2007
@Enolase,  That's the crap Naija is going through because there're no market makers.  It's straight BS limiting the ability to trade a stock based on who decides to sell. Let MM be introduced, the stock hoarders could go ahead and shove it.
By the way, I believe folks had mentioned that if you fine tune your investment  advisory approach, there'd be gazillion people waiting in line to join. Me included.
FamilyRe: Life At 30 When You're Not Married by K2: 3:29pm On May 24, 2007
@ Motee, I feel for you. Thank God you decided to be real with yourself and not listen to some of these folks living in fantasy land. The truth is as some proverb says, 20 kids cannot continously play together for 20 years. Something is got to give. When a lot of your close friends are married and already started doing wifely and motherly duties, although one may want to push it aside but it gets to you. To have true friends of course you need to have something in common. Do you now start being friends with young girls, teens or those who have a carefree attitude, obviously not because you've passed that point in your life. The truth of the matter is that everyone yearns to love and to be loved unconditionally. You want a man/lady whom you could called yours. You crave a companion to share both your good and bad times with. It's beyond just shacking up or independent woman bull crap.
My unsolicited suggestion is that you should bear in mind that the creator already has the person to complement you. I pray he walks in any moment from now, smiley
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by K2: 2:34pm On May 04, 2007
@Windywendy. Bid and Ask may not apply to shares on Naija's stock exchange but it's standard practise around the world. There has to be a bid offer and an ask offer. Just to refine your definition a bit, the bid is the price at which those on the floor of the exchange would buy it from you and the ask is the price at which they'd sell it to you. Is just like buying and selling of foreign exchange in Bureau de Change or black market.
BusinessRe: Robert Kiyosaki: His 'Rich Dad' Does 'Not Exist'? by K2: 9:50pm On Apr 25, 2007
Most of the big names that you hear of today that are successful business owners like Gates, Buffett, Branson etc have read one book or the other that inspire them in addition to their raw talent. Someone said they didn't specifically read Kiyosaki's book to be rich, duh, Some of them like Buffett are older than Kiyosaki and some are the same age. Even Kiyosaki referred to some books he read as well.
While I'm not a big fan of seminar trotting and just buying books for the hell of it, striking a balance in learning and doing I've found to be quite productive. You could be busy "doing"all you want and at the end of the day the output wouldn't worth the effort. Just like great minds in the past have said, we stand on the shoulders of the great so that we could see further. Why try to reinvent the wheel or make costly mistakes when it could've been avoided?
Regarding Robert Reed or whatever his name is, I've known about him for a while. I think he's got some bolts missing up there. He always criticizes everyone in order to appear as the best. Such people I tend not to take seriously.

What kind of nonesense holiday is this after returning from a 4 day weekend? No wonder we are not developed. Running a country like a beer parlour.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by K2: 2:10am On Apr 10, 2007
@Cheexy. I think the term long term as per Transcorp is not a blank check (as far I am concerned anyway). There should be a definite time frame. My money might as well be sitting in a fixed deposit or working for me in Govt backed securities.
A smart investor should know the exit strategy before making a trade to reduce risk and maximize profit. I think the trade should make sense to me now i.e it should fit into my overall long term financial plan. What if you bought more and the stock keeps tanking until it's worthless? Many investors in the dotcom era in the late 90s (in the U.S) had entire nest eggs wiped off when stocks they bought at over $300 a share went down all the way to 50 cents. More than 90% of the companies went out of business. The few that remained languished for years never again to reach a quarter of their previous highs. They were hoping for a rebound that never happened. We shouldn't throw caution to the wind but realize that the market is a two edged sword; part of being a better investor also involves knowing when to cut your losses and move on. Sometimes the best trades are the ones we don't make. 75 million units waiting to be dumped might mean one is holding the supposedly bag of gold when it already turned to sh*t.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by K2: 10:28pm On Mar 26, 2007
@Stanchuks. Sounds to me like you are over-extending yourself. Trading stocks on a margin(borrowing like you said), might leave you naked especially since you don't have a mapped out strategy to begin with. Furthermore, treating the stock market as if it's a money doubling or slot machine might wipe you out. Anyway, Dangote Sugar, Nascon, Oceanic are good ways to start. Goodluck ( you need lots of it)!

In addition to what others said regarding starting from the scratch, you could use your spare time to explore this website http://servicelocator.org/ . It's government owned. Once you have determined where you'd reside, simply key in the city or zipcode. You'd be given addresses of employment offices where you could go and they'd assist you regarding all your employment needs from Job placements, to resume writting, training etc.
Nevertheless, note that it'd take some time before you'd be able to work because you'd need to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN) and get a photo identification card (unless you want to be carrying your passport up and down).  The good news is that you don't need to apply for any permit to work. The stamp on your passport should be sufficient.
Congratulations and may be I should be the first to say Welcome to America! grin

Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 4:13pm On Oct 13, 2006
Grouppoint,  I am picking up where I left off where you said the Trinity is not equal.
First of all, I believe that there's only one God in essence but existing in three distinct persons. Just like you said the Father is different from the Son and the Holy Spirit etc  Not only that, I also believe that they all share the Godhead attributes of co-eternal, ominscience, omnipresent etc.
If we believe Christ or the Holy Spirit to be God but not all-knowing or equal, wouldn't that make "them" to be  lesser "gods" of some sort or not as powerful since "they're" limited?

Furthermore, the scripture passage you alluded to about Chirst is correct; however, remember that Christ was not exhibiting or turned off (for lack better words) some of His Godly attributes while He was here as a man. For example, God doesn't get hungry, He was. God doesn't sleep, He slept.  I believe to balance that Scripture we could look at these passages from Phil 2.
5Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]
6Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not [c]think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped [d]or retained,
7But stripped Himself [of all privileges and [e]rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
8And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!

My point is, Christ was operating in a limited state.  However, now in glory, in His full capacity, He's all knowing and possesses all other attributes He wasn't exhibiting.
I wait to read what anyone comments.
Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 11:05pm On Oct 11, 2006

PoliticsRe: Is Babangida Innocent Of All Allegations? by K2: 4:57pm On Oct 05, 2006
IBB is the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria. He initiated  moribund Transition programmes that ended nowhere. Talking about they cancel the process over and over again until we get it right? Wasted billions in the process.  He institutionalized corruption. I remember even way back then, lots of Nigerians had always held the military in high regard that they would never take bribe that it's only the police, but ever since he came on the scene, Nigerians lost respect for the military class-  they became an epitome of corruption.
He ruled for 8years and nothing substantial happened. Lies upon lies, dribbling Naijas up and down. I submit to you that even though OBJ has his faults, he has done more for Naija than IBB. We are still suffering from his rule.  The police is ill equipped, all the branches of the military, fire service, airlines became skeletal. He continuosly sourced money for different defence contracts, Ajaokuta, Debt buy back, oil blocks, drug courier(why he killed Vasta). All for him and his cronies.  Please don't get me started. By the grace of God, He'll end up like Samuel Doe.
Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 11:17pm On Oct 03, 2006
@ Goodguy, He allows freewill(fw) knowing fully well some would choose wrongly because He's also just and fair. If He withdrew fw from man and just teleguided him like a zombie, that's an excuse for Lucifer and His fallen angels to point fingers at Him that He's not fair considering that they exercised their freewill on the opposite and were doomed. Furthermore, even though He's Omnipotent and all other Omni-stuff, He doesn't want to be seen as a bully. He wants you to choose Him voluntarily. That's why the only worship that's acceptable is the one from the heart and not just outward display.
I wouldn't have time to go into analysis but at the end of the day, freewill actually means bowing to His will. Turning over your will into His. Like someone said, I am a Christian, I can do whatever I want because I only do what God wants. Compared with Jesus' situation too. I have the power to lay down my life and pick it up again. Nobody forced me.

Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 4:38am On Sep 30, 2006
@Wendell, About selective omniscience, are you referring to when he forgives sin and chooses not to remember them anymore? I think you might be treading on the part of heresy here saying God is not omnipresent. You'd probably support it by saying He's not in hell and other stuff like that? Well, don't let me jump the gun and wait to hear what to you've to say. Just remember David's response in Psalms. Where could I go from your presence, etc
Also, I take issues with you equating Jesus with the prophets.
For the faithful men didn't automatically make it to heaven quote, I have an idea what you are going to say but let me wait.
Anyway, I dey wait sha.
Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 2:44pm On Sep 29, 2006
@KDK, Lafile's point somehow explains what I was trying to say. The only way you could've made the point even in Alex's red ball/black ball issue is if God influenced His actions. Just like a puppeteer (sp)pulling the strings of a puppet. If He does, then there's no freewill. If there's no freewill then you might be opening many can of worms. It may range from that God destined some folks to go to hell, to the extent that even God's is evil, wicked or partial.
Christianity EtcRe: Is God Really Omniscient (All-Knowing)? by K2: 8:35pm On Sep 28, 2006
I still don't understand how free will contradicts omniscience, but I can agree that His knowledge is timeless. Since He also is timeless. There's never being a time when He began. He's always being there.
By the way, don't forget that we also know in part.  No one can say with absolute certainty which is which. We could only try to engage in mental exercises based on our finite knowledge which I appreciate by the way.
