SuperSixSeven: Nigeria has a perfect MRAP designed and produced by ProForce that meets international quality standards and could be displayed with pride at any Defence Expo in Europe and the Middle East. But our incompetent army leadership thinks they can design something better and even thinking the can produce vehicles in their faculties. No army in the world does that. The result is substandard of course and therefore a thread to the lifes of our brave soldiers at the front-line.
What the army focus on: * Maintenance, Repair and 0verhaul * Reseaech and Development Production should always be done by the private sector. But this was built by DICON, not the Nigerian army. I have been asking, has anyone seen the test results and could you please share it? |

NIGERIAN ARMY, DICON SIGN AGREEMENT FOR EZUGWU MRAP VEHICLES PRODUCTION
The Nigerian Army on Tuesday formalised agreement with the Defence Industries Corporation of NIGERIA / Command Engineering Depot on mass production of 28 Mines Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles for its counter terrorism/insurgency and other operations across the nation.
The agreement was signed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, 'Army' Lt Gen Lamidi Adeosun and the Director General of DICON, Maj Gen Victor Ezugwu at the Army Headquarters Abuja.
Buratai disclosed that the agreement would enable DICON/CED to roll out the vehicles within a specified period of time.
This act by the Nigerian Army under the dynamic and ingenious leadership of Lt Gen TY Buratai is in line with the Federal Government of Nigeria local content policy, where the Army has since been working assiduously to locally manufacture/produce her basic requirements in the areas of lift capability, light weapons, Armoured Personnel CarrierHe and kitting.
According to him " it was in furtherance of the government’s effort to reduce reliance on foreign countries to acquire the needed equipment for its operations towards addressing the prevailing security challenges across the country that this event is been executed today.
Buratai commended DICON for its commitment to developing local content and capacity of the home based engineers of the Nigerian Army to solve the nation’s security problems.
He added that the initiative was to look inward through research and development to come up with what can be called indigenous MRAP vehicle.
“We are gathered here today to actualise one of the lofty dreams of the army in reducing challenges of having to rely on everything from outside Nigeria in terms of lethal equipment for Nigerian Army.
“Lethal requirement is one of the critical requirements that assist in professionally discharging our duties after good training.
“We have been relying solely in getting this critical equipment from outside.
“All of us are fully aware of the challenges that the Nigerian Army and Nigeria as a country has continued to face in all attempt to acquire all important military equipment for Nigerian armed forces particularly the army.
“We will go ahead to sign the agreement for the first ever locally produced MRAPs by the Nigerian Army in collaboration with DICON and Command Enguneering Depot in phases of the contract agreement,’’ he said.
Responding, the Director General of DICON, said that the first batch of the 10 MRAPs in production at its factory in Kaduna would be delivered in December, 2019.
He assured that the company had the capacity and the manpower to execute the agreement in line with the government’s plan to develop local content.
According to him, I want to assure you that we will meet the timeline for this contract and the first set of 10 of these vehicles will be ready by early December this year.
“The partnership has brought about the first indigenous MRAP vehicle and I want to thank the Chief of Army Staff for having confidence in us which ordinarily would have been mission impossible.
“The beautiful thing about what we are witnessing today is that we are doing both research and development and production of this vehicle together.
“That is why in less than a year, we have the prototype produced and we are going into the mass production phase with this contract signing.
“I want to assure COAS that the standard that is contained in the characteristics of MRAP vehicle would be maintained.
“We have passed the phase of research and development, we are in full production,” he said.
Many senior army officers were in attendance during the historic event which include the Chief of Logistics Army Maj Gen JI Unuigbe, Chief of Projects and Programmes Maj Gen MSA Aliyu, Corp Commander Ordnance Maj Gen OA Akintade, Director Legal Services Maj Gen YI, Shalangwa and Commander Command Enguneering Depot Brig Gen SS Araoye.

WARTHUNDER: The white man that wrote the story is your god now abi? You can't be smarter than him? Boeing and the source chose only the two helicopters they wish to compare. Common sense should tell you that because the comparison also excludes Eurocopter Tiger and China Z-10 that looks exactly like Apache, does not mean Tiger and WZ-10 are inferior rivals not able to compete with Apache.
My guy u hav problem tinking outside a box.
Look it's not about common sense bruz, it's about technical military sense, Boeing cannot compare Mi-35 with Apache because Boeing does not produce assault helicopters of Mi-35 class, Boeing only builds attack helicopters of Mi-28 class.
So Boeing is totally silent on Mi-35 and chose Mi-28 for comparison, same with that your data source, they both said clearly that the comparison is strictly for attack helicopters and Mi-35 doubles as a troop transport, and is not categorized with those types.
Russia built the Mi-28 as marketing concept to compete with Apache for customers by using copy copy look-alike shape design, that was the failed idea of rival that only 2 buyers choose. Reality turned out differently than design concept was planned, reality is that today 80 air forces worldwide choose Mi-35 if they cannot get Apache, so miltary forces world wide have made Mi-35 the real life rival to Apache in real warfare, not in marketing concept. That is the simple fact that has turned to rocket science too complex for you to understand.
Nairaland is not a place for learning, it's a place for rigid unbendable wrong thinking.
You chose wrong comparison table like a Sports Car vs 4WD SUV, and yes, a good examiner will fail you on technical grounds. You are very smart Sir. This is a very sound argument. |

Those road side traders and taxi drivers have been begged many times, even by the Governor of Rivers State to desist from selling and trading on the roads. They simply have refused to listen.
How many times would they plead with them? At night they'll come out and block the roads, when they know task force have closed for the day. |

Jimi24: Aside from this, the JF17 design is short legged in terms of distance. The Chinese specific requirements being a very large country cannot be met by this aircraft but most Arab and African countries not interested in geographic power projection find it useful but no less potent. The LCA is also short legged and it is an Indian development. Short of the Russian SU 30MKI and more recently the Rafale, India does not have any heavy weight combat aircraft to speak off. Pakistan is countering with ageing F 16s but JF 17s Block 2 and 3 are being prepared as potent answers to SUs. So where's this idea about being cheap equala being weak coming from? India has 249 units of SU-30MKI, they are still going to purchase 30 more which includes MIG-29. Indian Air Force also has 66 units of MIG-29UPG Indian Navy has 45 MIG-29k. Indian Air Force is far far far ahead of Pakistan. When you say India does not have any heavy weight fighter jets to speak of, I just laugh at you. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by kabe1: 1:48pm On Nov 02, 2019 |
SuperSixSeven: JF 17 Block 2 and 3 will not perform anywhere near a SU30 or MIG35, it designed as a low-cost / low-perfomance fighter. You cant turn a giraffe into a racing horse. They are not in the same class. A JF-17 is not designed to compete against an SU-30 which is a heavy weight air superiority fighter. It doesn't compare to the MIG-35, the MIG-35 is not yet in service with any air force, including Russia. The most advanced MIG currently in service is the MIG-29m and m2. |

Xbee007: That is because China is the original manufacturer of JF-17. What I mean is China flies the J-10 which is a medium multirole fighter, why would they fly a light multirole fighter? Big Air Forces around the world do not fly Light Multirole Fighters only medium and above. Example the US, Russia, China, Japan, Saudi-Arabia etc |
