dustydee: I have about 8 months left. I am a postgrad student.Well 8 months left on your visa is enough time. I would advise you book your appiontment and make travel plans before your dissertation as that would be your ties to UK. As you have seen from previous posts here, the amount in your account does not matter. And I heard about Belfast being easier than London. I'm not sure what that means but I couldn't be bothered to make the effort. You can apply in Belfast just so you get to see Ireland, but I would not advisely travelling there solely for a visa appiontment. |
@ Dustydee Are you doing a one year postgraduate or undergraduate degree ? And how long is left on your visa ? |
Hi Joxiri.. just give your friend all the exact advise you gave me. Because if not for your advise I would have just written the bare minimum in my application and not elaborated on it very in depth. That was what me and the Officer had to talked about, and I think that's what impressed him. There is no place on the application to specify the length of the visa you want. I was also expecting 2 years. It's only in Nigeria I see people getting 5 years, 10 years e.t.c Justwise, thanks so much boss |
Hey everyone, just to say thank you to Joxiri, Omo_Tier1, Dancewith and Justwise as usual for the advise I had my US interview last week and my visa was approved. As Omo_Tier1 said honesty was the best policy and Joxiri's advise to dress smart. For anyone who might find this information useful, my interview went something like this: I attended the US consulate in London, there were over 500 people with appiontments. I noticed one consulate officer was attenting to only Nigerians and was steadily refusing them. When he called my number I went to meet him Me: Good afternoon (Smiling) USC: No Reply USC: I see you came here for your masters degree and stayed behind why ? Me: I decided to that as I got a good job with a carrer path USC: I see you work in the Financial Services as an Finance Adjuster Me: That's not correct I'm a Finance Assesor, I hope to be an Adjuster one day. USC: Oh sorry, yes that is a good carrer path Me: Thank you USC: I see you travel to Paris a lot, why ? Me: It's a nice escape out of London, it's cheap and I don't have to fly there USC: Smiles USC: Your visa has been approved, go and submit your form for DX delivery He did not ask to see one single document, he only read from my application form and studied me carefully. As Joxiri adviced I filled my application very carefully. My passport came back yesterday and I was given 5 year muliple entry. Thanks guys for the help. |
If you're consfused between the three universities, then you are not worthy of Unilag. Please decide between the other two Universities. You are not worthy of my alma mater. |
Thanks Joxiri and Omo Tier 1 - solid advice all round. Joxiri good idea on knowing the hotel I'm going to even though I don't reserve it. Omo Tier 1, no never had any applictions to US consultate before and pray this one is sucssesful. Last question and the most important. I'm thinking of doing a one year UK fixed deposit account. The advantage is it will show I have more ties here but the downside is that I will remove it from my normal account which would be less bouyant. Or should I just run my normal account ? Which will have a good balance but I guess not showing enough ties like a fixed deposit account. I also have Nigerian domicary fixed deposit account, should I take this along or leave it not to complicate matter. I'm really grateful if you guys give any input. Thanks |
Dancewith, thank you very much ! I have travel history on check. I think I've been to about 16 countries now, and the job think is fine. Luckily because of sites like LinkedIn e.t.c just a google search with my name would show I'm employed. And yes I'm doing the hotel visit and as you guess it would be for NY & FL for 2 weeks. I read we aren't suppose to make any sort of bookings unless the visa is issued, is that correct ? And I will catch up on my review for US. I already know NY a fair bit and will catch up on some reading on Florida. |

Thanks Justwise and Joxiri, Anymore advice and tips on selling myself. Thanks Sirs |
Hi Justwise when I will apply I've have just a little less than a year - 11 months. My job is full time, pay is better than good. But what strong ties can I show is the question ? Is the fixed deposit a good idea ? It will be with Nationwide. As you're in UK I know you'll know a bit about Nationwide (being a building society). Please advise. More advise needed Sirs. ![]() |
Hey guys need some urgent advice. I'm based in UK and plan to go to USA for summer. I've read some articles online and I understand the main issue USA consulate have is assurance the visitor will return the the country of departure. I need some advice on documents to proof I will return to UK. I'm in a full time job and can get - letter from work, payslips, bank statement. I unforunately can't provide a tenancy agreement. What else can I provide ? I'm thinking of opening one of those fix bond accounts for a year (ISA), and put a fixed deposit - will that help me ? At least that will show I need to come back to retrive the money when it matures or should I just leave it in my bank. I have about 10 Euro visas over the last 2 years, will this help at all ? Please advise on the questions above. I'm extremely grateful in advance - VicJustic, OmoTier1, JustWise & Co. . My eyes are on you for help o ![]() I've been planning this summer holiday for ages ! |
BABE. Nice thread and your gif responses made me laugh. I swear people be taking things way too seriously and have too much time on they hands ! I'm sure if there were popular black actresses at the award their pictures would have been posted. I don't know who the black actress above is. End of |

Hey Olugirl Thanks for the comments - I just need to clarify somethings. 1. The US consulate webiste advises not to make hotel payments e.t.c until you get your visa. . so how would I be able to prove this to them ? 2. How soon to your trip did you apply for your visa ? I.e if I wish to travel in May, when should I apply ? Thanks ! |
I don't think it will affect future applications. . since they were "independent" lenders. But you ain't shit for borrowing money and running away. ARRGH ! And you have the gall to be worried about it. I hate people. |
Even though the author is a budding scammer (don't deny this. . we have receipts). He has a point, travel section is now boring - I'm attributing this to Justwise who has cleaned up the place from scammers and given Nigerians some sense. What made the travel section lively was drama and people's tales of being scammed woes. But I'd take a scam free travel section over the lively one back in 2009/2010 when every other topic was a scam/someone being scammed. |
I use an iPhone, so my iTunes can tell me my most played song and how many times. 1. Barbara Streisand - The Way We Were (2118 Plays). I've had my phone less than a year - I guess the count is so high because I can't sleep without this song and have it on repeat. I added my iTunes screen capture.

I forgot to add - Drug trafficking and usage is very very very high, shouldn't disturb you as it's done in the slums but if you were ever adventurous to try it - now would be the time as drugs in Brazil is probably the cheapest and easiest to get in the world. Also google Favela parties. If it's something you like go for it, don't take any money, phone e.t.c with you. It's hardcore. . . |
Teslim, my former flatmate and closest friend over here is Brazilian. He's travelling around at the moment, but hit me up with some question and I'll ask him. You seem to know most of it already. Food is like Nigeria, me and my mate got along because we eat the same things. Lots of fresh fruits there Girls are loose and en masse - And very sexually adventurous, they are not money grabbers as my friend could never understand the concept of buying anything for a girl ever when we were in UK. Brazil has the most amount of black people in any country not African - there's racism, but that's to black people living in ghettos. He lived in Niterói, which is just outside Rio - I remember him telling me rent was cheap, he wasn't very rich but his building had it's own swimming pool - he said that's common because of the heat. Transport isn't very good, it's uncomfortable and much like Nigeria - we always talked about how you could jump of buses in Brazil when in traffic without paying. Contrary to what you think the language is VERY hard. I think there is several types of verbs groups and even more present/past participle. My mate is good with languages and will tell you his countries' is the hardest. Spanish is easy but not used in Brazil, you'll get some ideas of Spanish from Portuguese (much like how you'll get some ideas of French from English). That's what I can remember |
justwise:Got you. Thanks |
justwise:Thanks, so how is the poster "extending" it ![]() |
justwise:Actually, it was Markenny who listed them. Justwise wetin do your glasses today ?? |

Justwise, I think what Omo Tier 1 means is as long as his application is lodged before expiry he is still on the previous visa he lodged it on, and is a legal. I.e if he was on Tier 4 and applied for Tier 1, whilst his visa if with him office he is still legal and on Tier 4 status. But, Justwise and Omo Tier1. How does one extend Tier1 general like OP said, never heard it before - any insight ? |

Mariofemi has NO good intention. I don't know why you people are still confused. Justwise has said all from Page 1 and this is Page 39. And you people still will not listen. MarioFemi is part and parcel of this scam. The reason he's still around is so his name isn't soiled and after everything dies down he can be able to spend his loot in public.
