TV/MoviesRe: Spartacus New Season Is Out by kadman(m): 4:50pm On Feb 04, 2011

Are you the only person who doesn't know that Spartacus is battling cancer which has caused season 2 to be delayed? They needed to have a way to sustain the following for the series. That's why they came up with a prequel 'Gods of the Arena.' Smart move if you ask me. Yet to watch any episode but if the production values remain the same as in Season 1 of Spartacus, i'm sure it will be something to watch.
Lol, no mind am. Would he have prefered to wait to September 2012 to watch anything. He better manage what can get.

And yes, very smart move, and no the production hasn't changed at all, all the actors are present and it still retains that gritty edge we love. 3rd episode out today !!

I just saw The Kings Speech - Daily Mail reviews it as "It Fills You With Joy", and that's just what the movie did, it was different, I love how they chipped in some English stories I like especially Wallis Simpson, Winston Churchill e.t.c
Colin Firth's performance was amazing, he is soon surpassing Richard Gere as my favourite actor. However for some reason it was Helena Carter's few appearances I most looked forward to.
ComputersRe: Which Is Your Favourite Browser? by kadman(m): 6:19pm On Feb 02, 2011
Google Chrome is the best thing ever. I use it on Macbook Pro and it flies. A year now and it never crashes. I could turn my system off and when I turn it back on Chrome ALWAYS restores the tabs. And of course I love the fact I can just do a web search in my web bar. That function alone beats any other browser.

@ Aloy Emeka, I'm a realist. In life we don't know what tomorrow will bring and I apply the same principle to everything I do. I'm not saying I want to get divorced or I wish for for it but I am not living and refuse to live in a fairy tale world where I expect the rest of my life to be a happily ever after. Despite problems I've faced in my marriage, I can still proudly say that I've got 8+ years under my belt.
So don't go trying to read a whole lot of meaning into my statements and please GET OFF MY BACK! It's like you enjoy trying to poke holes or find fault with things I say. Jeez!!!  angry
I APPLAUD your sense of reality.
No one plans to be sick, but it happens. No one plans for accidents, but it does happen. With the alarming rates of divorce and separation, one must love with their heads. I find that it is practical people like you whose relationships work. Most dreamers ended up broken and jaded.
I wish you more year of marital bliss. . . And just avoid the nitwits on here. wink

How would a woman be married and want to still go with her fathers name?
How would a man be married and still bear his fathers name ?

Every aspect of culture, be it Western or African were thought of by one man like you and I, chose the ones you can conform to and conform, and the ones you can't conform to let it be. Just like the woman has done.

Natalie Portman was spectacular in black swan and she deserves the oscar.
Besides this is going to be her first and I pray she wins. I keep rewatching black swan just to see her in action.
Nicole kidman is my all time favorite actress but natalie portman would probably win and it will be justified.
Nicole was wonderful in rabbit hole but the movie was just too sad for my taste, but her performance deserves recognition.
As for the kids are alright fell asleep during the movie so I wouldn't be rooting for Anette benning.
But as the golden globes and Sag awards have show, natalie portman would probably win the award, her performanve gave me shivers.
But the oscars have always be unpredictable.
I am in love with you ! No joke

Where have you been all my 2 years on this damn site !!!

I loved Black Swan, I've seen it 3 times. And I love Natalie's performance, but I think in most of the movie she was just Natalie. Her performance shined in brief periods when the black swan possessed her. But Nicole held Rabbit Hole throughout. As you said it was a sad movie, but that itself is the beauty of her performance because despite it being sad she was beautiful to watch. All Nicole's performance are exceptional (except Bewitched), but this movie is her best act so far and her not getting any recognition for it kills me.

Yes, this might be the only time I'm banking on the Oscars being unpredictable.

Actually the last two episodes have kind of humanised Batiatus, shows the reason he became such a sinister schemer. Well I'm glad to know death awaits him smiley

It may shock u to know that there are White British citizens  who can not read or write properly. A yoruba or Igbo man may struggle to write in his native language.

Natalie Portman was good in movies like "Closer" (2004) and "Black Swan" (2010). She's a strong contender for the grand prize of Best Actress. Annette Bening was also good in "The Kids Are All Right". She's also a strong contender.
Yeah she was wonderful in closer. Apart from Black Swan I think that's the only movie I've liked her in.

RomanceRe: The Worst Advice You Ever Heard In A Relationship! by kadman(m): 2:42pm On Jan 29, 2011
MRbrownJAY:
some of the funniest ones i have read so far, from the archives of NL:
- better be with someone that loves you more than someone that you love more.
- dating someone older than you is wrong. ( even if its just months)
- to get a gf, just get some money then you would find one. this one is actually PRICELESS!!!
I personally don't think that's a bad advice. In this day and age one must apply some brain with the heart. In a relationship I would most likely keep that advice. I'm not arguing I just personally don't think that's a bad advice.

Err dude, are you an actor ?

Rabbit Hole - Saw it for the second time yesterday, it's not for everyone. . but if you like fine acting and thought provoking movies . . I'd recommend.

I'm about to watch The Hours on DVD now. I'm on a Nicole Kidman marathon this weekend cheesy

You and your Nicole Kidman obsession. cheesy

Nicole Kidman is a good actress no doubt. I still remember her role in the movie THE HOURS.
Her chances of winning the Best Actress category in this year's Oscars may be slim, but dat does not mean she's wack.
Other's said she's wack, which is what I'm on about.
I've found out with the Oscars, until Awards are actually handed out there's a 20% chance for everyone. . equally. I'll put my money on that 20%. wink
TravelRe: Finland-how Is The Place by kadman(m): 11:57pm On Jan 28, 2011
My cousin lives there, and she likes it a lot more than UK, as of when she started school education was totally FREE, she gets to learn a new language and people are friendly. There are also lots of menial jobs that are not too demeaning. Hope that helps

But as someone said,it's really cold. Personally, I feel if you're not sickly you anyone can adapt to cold.

Hope that helps smiley
TV/MoviesRe: 2011 Oscar Awards Nominations by kadman(m): 11:08pm On Jan 28, 2011
Regarding the Nicole Kidman insults. Well, I won't say much. .  if it was any of the other artists I liked I would have taken the bait. But I don't need to with Nicole - her Oscar, 4 Golden Globes, 3 Oscar Nominations, $1 Billion worth of movies and Oscar she will win in a month time speak for her. So I will not bother.

Most people talking smack do not even watch the movies she's been highly acclaimed in, she's been one of the most consistent actresses over the years and is the "Actress Of This Generation" as far as I'm concerned.

Peace out. . . NOT

TV/MoviesRe: 2011 Oscar Awards Nominations by kadman(m): 12:30am On Jan 26, 2011
I'm disappointed theres no nomination for Julianne Moore. I believe she should have campaigned for best supporting actress, rather than best actress as her role was a bit smaller than Annette Bening, of which Annette Bening should be getting ready for her 4th Oscar loss.

I've also built a cabinet and shipped it to Nashville, Tennessee, where Nicole Kidman would be storing her second Oscar. wink

Delta007 has said it ALL. I have nothing else to add.

I just finished my masters in the UK, and upon the age advantage (I'm 24) and even with the Post Study Visa advantage I have, if i could turn the year back I would do Canada and not think twice about it . That's my own advice.
