OP,

How can YOU not call her to find her if she's alive or dead.

Long story short, I hope you bought the car in her name. And I hope you don't get it back.

All these silly men who after break ups ask for the biros and pencils they gave in the relationship. Urgh.

Crime / Re: Murdered Nigerian: UK Police Place £10,000 Bounty On Killer by kadman(m): 12:26pm On Nov 28, 2013
GeneralShepherd: Why are Nigerian students being murdered left, right and centre? They complain we are criminals, but yet fail to protect the innocent ones amongst us? First it was Ada Obih in the US last week now another Nigerian!

What have we done to deserve the snuffing outing of our future academic juggernauts? Well if I get my scholarship to the UK, I sure will be packing a lot of heat to Cranfield make I hearsay whitey kill me?

Proud to be Nigerian, its the only place I call home!

Why? Because they go nightclubbing in very dangerous areas when they were sent to study.

If you sit your black a.ss in Cranfield or Milton Keynes surroundings, and study like you are supposed to and avoid dodgy places. You'd be fine wink

Romance / Re: I Think Life Is Unfair To Women & Guys Need To Be Realistic! by kadman(m): 4:52pm On Nov 19, 2013
INFO TECH:

In as much as I agree that men should PROBABLY date within their circle, I don't think it is wrong to aim high in this life @ all.

Its we humans that created class amongst ourselves and I personally do not see anything wrong with a guy asking a lady out even if they are not in the same class. Its the guys' prerogative to ASK and it's the ladys' choice to agree or disagree.

Have you ever wondered that there are the Kim K's out there that just want a regular guy in thier lives and leave out all the drama.

I would personally like guys to date across class cos it's a trait that they can aim high in life to achieve in all they set out to. You have a right to say NO so it's definitely not by force.

You can't blame a guy for trying.

I agree he should aim high in life: By improving on his looks, aiming high in his carrer, upgrading his enterprenurial skills e.t.c but not trying to get with someone who has one or all of the above without having any himself! That is what we call a chancer or scammer.

Rule of thumb is be the kind of person you'd like to attract. However Nigerian men seem not to have heard of this saying with the dating stunts they try to pull.

anselm791: All you've written here is how life's hard and unfair to men, I mean with the day dreaming, working hard like P square, paying for sex while all the women have to do is to be hot? Unless you were once a woman, you shouldn't be writing poo about what you don't know poo about.

You think it's easy to be hot? You think the fitness regime, beauty regime, weaves and wigs are FREE

I don't really understand the "Muslim thing is the best".

Yes they bury the dead quickly but a month or two later when enough money has been raised they through big crazy "owanbe" parties just as big as Igbo / Christian Yorubas.

Or am I missing something? I'd appreciate some enlightenment.

@ Topic, it's a senseless practice and something which is stupid. My family have done the same for my grandparents but even we knew it was silly and we just conforming to social norms. Alas, I do not see an end to this practice.

stillwater: The society is different. Our experiences are too. Even church is different. The longer you stay abroad, your emotions start getting softer too and forget A is Z to us. grin It's only murder or death that gets an expressive response from us. Then you would see Africans rolling on the floor. You are only celebrated when you die in your violent husband's house than when you divorce him. There are millions of girls in Nigeria that have been raped that just picked up their underwear and went on as if nothing happened. They only feel shame and do not feel that there's an injustice that has been done to them. Take the ABSU rape victim for example. What dignity that woman is protecting is beyond every single brain cell in my head. I'm still annoyed about that incident. See the poverty in Nigeria, and we say we have a government. We are not in touch with our emotional side. We have been desensitized to hurt, pain, wickedness, dejection, hate, strife, and helplessness by the biggest bully on earth - the Nigerian government. We have been trained very very well in a concentration camp Nigerian style. We hardly commit suicide but show our fruits in other flamboyant styles like fraud, crime, prostitution, aggression and the incessant need to loot and loot and loot.

Health / Re: How To Stop Obsessing Over Your Body Image And Beat Negative Thoughts. by kadman(m): 2:00pm On Oct 16, 2013
One of the best articles I've seen on Nairaland lately.

There's a misguided conception that Africans living in Africa don't suffer from body image issues - well in 2013 we do! Another misconception is that men don't, well I'm an African man and I do.

I have come to realise to a certain extent I always would, but I've come to use it positvely, by going in excercise programs and a reasonable diet. Notice I said reasonable, this means a diet I could sustain for the very long term, which can adpat to changing life situations.

To deal with body issues; set a goal of where you possibly want to be, set up a reasonable diet, start a training program - doesn't have to be crazy to start with but something to jump kick. Then set another goal and repeat.

And remember a healthy body is from inside, read and educate yourself how to feel good inside - I'm talking detox, colon cleansing, proper knowledge of vitamins e.t.c

Working hard on my body in the last two years has changed my life, I look good and more importantly feel good, I have confidence that shows in my work and relationships.
It's not enough to think you can beat a negative body image mentally, you actually have to do something about it.
Same way you can't just beat poverty by thinking - you gotta go out and get a job smiley

FAMILY GUY......
Anyone who doesn't love this show is simply a dull person. The reason being that the jokes tends to be based on real world facts. For those who don't even know of such things in the real world, they'll never get the joke.

Well, i would have given the Simpsons a little shot BUT i really dont like the voice of homer's wife. It irritates me.

Please stick to your BEN 10 Omniverse and leave Family Guy(Stewie) for us the guys that loves witty comedy.

THIS IS THE TRUTH !

A lot of people will not get Family Guy because they don't know the real life references or people the joke is pointed at.
Yes Family Guy has jumped shark a few times, like when they do those Star Trek / Star Wars episodes. But when it's good.... man it's good.

Best episode Stewie beating the crap out of the dog "where my money at?" punch punch "where my money at?"

This book sounds like one of those how to "please your man" books. It's always the same recipe really - Cook for him, have his babies, pamper him like a 5 year old whose mother did not take care of him properly, whilst being submissive at the same time.

Please notice that author is male, why's he writing a book about the wisest woman? Of course he would perceive a woman as wise when she does his biddings.

OP, as someone said avoid these modern day slavery manuals.

Bros, we are talking about adults and not kids. I do not except a fully group man to act like a 11 yr old ok.

Second it seems we really come from different societies. Someone here was talking about how people view single ladies as prostitutes. Who still has that view in 2013. May be we should create a villagers section in Nairaland so that people with those views can start their own threads and comment!

It's the same Coogar who said so. The brother lives in a timewrap and keeps saying that this is not the West.

Well Coogar most people here live in Nigeria and are saying it's not as you say it is. Are you living in your own world mate? I spent 25 years in Nigeria (including the village) and didn't see all this stigmatisation to single / seperated women.

Thanks! I speak from what I know and what I've seen, and one thing I do know is that divorce isn't simply a silver bullet to abusive marriages as they are in the west, a fact many people don't seem to understand.

You got valid points, I agree with them and I'm not saying she should stick around ang get beaten to death, all I'm saying is she do some self-assessment, and try to fix what is broken, before discarding it.

I know Nigerian women very well, the bond between mother and children is unseverable, and to some women, being away from their kids equals death as well.

At the endof the day, she will make those choices herself based on what priorities she places higher.

I'm glad we could come to some sort of common ground. I agree with the highlighted. Also many valid points.

OP - I'm sorry your thread became a debate ground, but oh well it's well meant.

Defender of the brethren!

For the life of me, I do not know the 'society' cougar is referring to.

I have never seen a man or woman bulled on the streets because he/ she is divorced. what is my business with neighbors on the next street? (if I even know them sef)

I think Coogar still lives in 1913, when people fetched water at rivers and knew everyones name in the village e.t.c (I'm sure even then women were going back to their parents home).

Is it these days when you get back from your bank job at 9pm half asleep and don't know the name of the people even living in your building?

As I said the only stigma I can think of isn't society but religious ties (either religion).
