It depends on your parents and genetics..... In Nigeria, the average Height of a man is 5'9. Growth stops when you clock 22, so you don't need to worry much if you haven't reached that height... Am 18 and 6'0.
Growth stops at 25 not 22

Continuation:

Sorry for the kind delay on this episode. The gbos gbas are just too distracting and it seems as though some persons(haters) await an opportunity to attack my person. Anyways, we moove.

Talking of the Toyota Camry brand(big daddy): this car is big, spacious, has strong body with good interior speed and ground clearance.
The engine cap is 2.4Ltr , 157 hp @ 5600 rpm.

That of corolla is 1.8L engin, 130 hp @ 6000 rpm and that of civic is 1.7L, 115 hp @ 6100 rpm.
The Accord V4 is 2.4L, 160 hp@5500rpm while the
V6 is 3.0L, 240 hp @ 6250 rpm

rpm(rotation per minute)

Looking at the above hp vs rpm if you're the type that love speed like me you should know which car to go for.
Pls take the v6 out when making decision for transportation business.

The engine capacity as stated above for all these cars I've used should also inform you better which is best for your business in terms of fuel because fueling is one thing drivers spend almost 50% of their earnings on. So you may have to apply wisdom in your selection.

Another thing worthy of note is the second hand and resale values of these brands of cars. because e no get as a bad reach you must have to sell the car one day, so it an important aspect of the business you have to also consider b4 making a decision on which car to buy.

Base on the above, what I always advice people from experience is to always go for Toyota because it has second hand value and a good resale value as well. This is one thing the Honda brand of cars don't have in any way. Especially the civic. I pity drivers who take these cars on a HP deal because I wonder what will be left of it after using this car for 2yrs and how much a new buyer would paid to own it.

This is the reason the corolla brand is No.1 choice for every driver on ehailing.

From experience a driver on rental with a corolla is saving 3x the value of what a driver on Camry because of money is spending on fuel.

Importantly, If you must buy the civic brand of car I'd advised you either stick with manufacturers tier sizes for balance/handlings. If you must increase the tiers size for better ground clearance make sure you don't go above one size up.

Take for instance; manufacturers size for the civic 03 is 185/70/14R. You can change to 185/75/15R, better still maintain 185/80/14R (this this size of tire is very scarce here in Nigeria because of bad roads)

The reason is good to maintain manufacturers' tire spec especially the tire width(185) is because it determines vehicle handling, traction and fuel economy.

Mr.B will spend more money on fuel using 205/65/16R on a civic n Mr.A will have better vehicle handling than Mr.B and will save more fuel as well using the manufacturers recomended tires.

I hope I'm able to broaden your scope in this regards.

Good luck in making your decision
Thanks alot felicity0001..

Can you explain why someone who bought a corolla at 1.5m 5years is selling for the same amount today.

Instead of a car to be depreciating over time.
This particular one is appreciating.
I know you will want to tell me it's cus of demand and Nigerian factor.

There lies the argument cause this is a car we are talking about here too.

I am not a coward like, I stick to my words, I play bybthe rules given to me. Yes sir... That is my take and the take of many smart folks... Buying a recent car or brand new car is good when it is factor of production such as logistics, transportation business , staff transport and office car... Now the car has evolved to factors of production and means to production ..

If you are a man that is still struggling and earning less than 25m annually why use 10 m to buy a GL 450 2017 model when you can still buy same GL 450 OF 2010 MODEL for less... It's basically same brand , same prestige different model and trust me few people know the differences.i don't even know the differences in 2005 and 2007 C Class to me they look alike it's only people that are deep into cars do know like dealers and mechanics ...trust me 80% of folks don't know

Why impress folks...if you are married,if your wife is okay with the car and you have focus on life, you don't go channging cars every year until you arrive ...you can't be a tenant or a salaried man channging cars yearly...I have seen folks in premium tears when the chips are down ....

Read this article by CNBC one of the best global finance network...they did a research on this https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/11/04/follow-this-simple-rule-for-car-buying-if-you-want-to-get-rich-says-millionaire-money-expert.html

But it's an individual thing, I have seen folks that are crazy about car models, I have seen folks that are crazy about phones (they can buy phones worth of 1 million) I have seen folks that are crazy about women ...so it all depends on individuals

But as they say common sense ain't common after all...there is a time when one can buy decent and recent car ...it all depends on the priority....here is Nigeria we don't do trade off or lease so the economy doesn't support that ..even in USA that they do...many of them do that in credit (meaning they are in debt for a long time ) that is what it is ...why not use that for mortgage payment ?

Though, age factors are there...younger boys would love to impress folks and also what one does for a living

My take is simple...whatever car you have , make sure you get it well maintained...I have seen cars that do 300k on millage and super neat and I have seen 2017 cars that are terrible..so it's an individual thing

I don't personally follow crowd and looks cann be deceptive.

After one year, your car will probably be worth about 20% less than what you bought it for. AFTER FIVE YEARS: After that steep first-year dip, that new car will depreciate by 15–25% every year until it hits the five-year mark. So, after five years, that new car will lose around 60% of its value.

https://www.daveramsey.com/blog/car-depreciation#:~:text=After%20one%20year%2C%20your%20car,around%2060%25%20of%20its%20value.
I wish this depreciation analysis was also applied to our beloved Toyota Corolla here in Nigeria

Okay. This topic was debated here some weeks back about which car is best I wanted to put d9wn something but something kept telling "hold it you're not ready yet".

So far so good I've use
1)Honda EOD V6
2)toyota Corolla 04
3)Honda civic 03
4) Toyota Corolla 2010
5) Toyota Corolla 03
Currently using 2002 Camry (big daddy)

Honda cars are fuel efficient, rugged, strong body and parts, if you're the type that love music Honda will serve you with good and quality sound, its engine is strong and has a long life spam. Beautiful interior. But you don't wanna be faced with dislocated arms while on the road. This is a common problem with Honda cars also with its power steering pump. That guy can frustrate the he'll outta somebody.

I usually buy 4-6k fuel daily using my V6 EOD then And could gross with 18-22k. These were my 1st days so the spirit was still strong.

Fuel consumption with the Toyota corolla and Honda civic is almost the same only that in a long distance journey the civic will save like 5-10ltr more than the corolla if all driving conditions remains constant. Another observation I have noticed about these two cars is their "initial". The corolla is a champion in that. It has the ability to move out of rest very fast than the civic but once the civic has gathered momentum on a long distance race it can zoom pass the corolla like a Ferrari. Reason for its lesser fuel consumption on a long distance and on the other hands, the corolla its good in traffic movement and manoeuvres just like the saloon 4matic Benz. You don't try that with the civic else trouble for you and other road users.

Now talk of parts. Due to popular demand for the corolla it has made it parts to be very expensive when compared to the civic. But on the norms with say 2016 Honda abd Toyota the Honda parts can be more expensive because these cars are known to be for some classes of people with flair and elegance. I may be wrong though but I'm talking from experience.

One thing about the corolla I dislike is that it's not spacious and the body is so soft that putting a child on top of the roof can compress the body. Dont even think of resting your body on any part of a corolla else you would need a panel beater and a painter's work...

Good analysis, you really study the vehicles.
The bold part >>> that's due to the fact that Civics are equipped with CVT drivetrain. It's one of the factors that increase fuel economy.

I know very well that it's a good ride for this job bt is it as rugged as the corolla or the Civic u previously used? .
What is the fuel economy like compared to ur previous car?
Does it burn or short oil badly like the 07~09 models.
Wat are the pros n cons u have found using the vehicle?
Just give me ur rating base on ur experience

My brother I can say it categorically from experience on the field and as an engineer with field experience as well... There is no 100% assurance on any automobile. Even tear rubber cars do have "errors" it could range from factory, mechanical, design, or any kind of error. So no 100% guarantee on any thing weather it is brand new, tokunbo or 9ja used.

On tokunbo, this is my take. I've been privilege enough to have used 3 tokunbo cars for ehailing.
First was a corolla, I think i was the either d 2nd or 3rd driver... The 1st week I started with the car I noticed problem and I got to understand the car was accidented. The problem with most Tok are dealers. And the only person I can recommended to anyone to buy a car from is my former boss in the person of Dru23.

I learnt some business integrity during my partnership with him. What he does is this. I will explain by sharing an experience.

There was a car (big daddy) his manager asked me to deliver to sb. As the car arrived, my Oga called his mechanic (Bishop) to check for any possible issue that might be on the car...he fix everything... I personally bought tires and fix on the car... He day car serviced with mobile 1 oil, washed, madam filled up the tank and car was delivered to the person. I was just wondering in my mind. To what end madam?! Shey Oga sabi dis person or abi na him family person?
Ha! Na so Oga dey do him tins ooh... Madam replied.

In a nut shell, most dealers are only out to make profit while some are out to make build a good reputation.

So most problems with toks are dealers, they're not sincere. A car came accidented fix it b4 putting it on stand, then be sincere to explain to any interested buyer how and how far you've gone with it. But for rhe sake of business which i understand though... Thats why me as I person I think I can be a successful trader because its not for sincere people grin

The 2nd.l too I used came with issues which I'm aware took if I'm correct almost 200k or more from my boss to fix to standard and some minor issues still persisted till...

My madam before she sold her personal car she changed two doors, painted the car and still sold at the same price.

The car I'm using presently, same issue car cane with from abroad is what we are still battling out...

Lastly, if you're lucky to get a good tok, trust me you start having one or two issues after 6-12months provided car is used for transportation but if its for private use probably 2-3yrs if you're sb with good maintenance culture 4-5yrs. But for transportation? Max is 12months.

As for 9ja used it depends, if car was company own, used and maintained. But if you buy from a poor man my brother there two things involve oooh...its either the car kills you or you kill the car
If the car kills you, you're save
But if you kill the car there also two things involve.

Dont ask megrin
Chai oga feli.
U do well..
Thank you for ur comprehensive response

IMO, the average toks has +/-100k miles. Therefore, the best days for such a car has been spent.

However, cars with very good reliability are very much problem free for another 100k miles.

This logic is also true because major turn around maintenance of most manufacturers is around the 100k miles.

This major maintenance repair is very expensive to-do right so users avoid this by selling it off to get a brand new can. This ensures that they never have to deal with the car needing a major maintenance or mechanical job that is expected at around 100k.

Armed with this knowledge, the answer to you question becomes direct, toks cars are good for the price you we are getting if you get the right deal. Your toks car reliability now depends on the brand reliability, previous users maintenance and your maintenance.

If you want a problem free car then buy brand new, else you should learn to tolerate echanics and expect some down time.

Note, I have seen a brand new Peugeot 406 bought from PAN having a failed engine twice at less than 5000km before they replaced the entire car. It doesn't mean 406 is not reliable.
Wow..
U mean a brand new 406..

Dear pilots
Is a tokumbo car really worth the price tag as I am planning to get one soon and also with the current foreign exchange market rate, and also going through the stress of registration and the necessary paper work.
How long will an average tokumbo take before it starts developing major faults and needing repairs from wear and tear.
What are the benefits of buying a tokumbo over a well maintained naija used car
And lastly, are tokumbo cars really buy and drive?, are they problem free as the are expected to be?, did you spend and any money on any fix after driving off the car stand?.
Thanks in advance for your help and contributions
