4. Nigerians don't like to research = someone will still come and ask what documents they need to take to the interview apart from the Nigeria passport, GTB receipt, appointment confirmation page. *YOU DON'T NEED ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS APART FROM THESE THREE* Tdadz: To the gurus on this platform. Please I will be interviewed along with my newly wedded wife for visiting visa in a couple of weeks time. We both have good paying jobs and intend traveling cos we've been too busy ever since we married and couldn't travel anywhere for honeymoon.... we also see this as an opportunity to see some of our relatives of mine and hers in the USA who couldn't attend our wedding. My request from the house is what are the documents that need to be taken in addition to the confirmation page of the visa schedule that will increase our chances of success. Please I need a check list of what we need to bring along as well as any useful advice on how to present our case during the interview. Thanks |

FILL IN THE FORM HONESTLY AND ACCURATELY. AND IN THE SPACE FOR MISREPRESENTATION, TELL THEM THE TRUTH AND ON THE DAY OF YOUR INTERVIEW, GO AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR PAST SINS. YOU CAN NOT ESCAPE IT, UNLESS YOU DON'T WANT TO TRAVEL TO THE US. olami19: Good day to the gurus in the house, I have a question bothering my mind, year 2007 an agent introduced me to a lady who won a visa lottery, he got my passport photograph, and some of my information which was sent to Kentucky so as to change her(the winner of the lottery) status to married. We were invited for an interview but I eventually pull out of the whole Thing cos the agent was asking for alot of money. I later got to know that the lady that won the lottery dint appear for the interview cos she doesn't have the $750 for visa fee. WHAT has being bothering me is that can this singular act (the matching I mean and information at USA embassy) stand in my way now. I was never at any point appear at the embassy for fingerprints or anything during the visa lottery stuff. Am now married and I want to travel with my family. I need your advice plss
Someone should pls help with an advise |

I can boldly say no one knows. Apply for another visa interview and you might find out why that happened. Cheers. kimor: Hello house, Please If someone was turned back at new york poe, was asked to voluntarily withdraw application, and cancelled the visa. They wrote this on the passport 212 a 7 A i I.
Reason for refused entry was because official work id card or business card was not shown by the visa carrier. This is b2 visa for vacation.
Should the re-application of the visa be done immediately or what is the way out of this. |

Please read what I posted before. Let me recap. If money is sent to your account by mistake, if you spend it, it is a crime...if you do that, the bank will remove the money sent to your account, from your own money and refund it to the sender. This deals with people who think they are smart and wouldn't want to return the money back. Someone said that is fraud and I said no, what is fraud, is you spending that money that was sent to you by mistake. bizzibodi: why shld u,will u also want somebody to spent d money u mistakely transfer to his/her acct? |

What I have learnt from this forum, so far: 1. All conferences are held in the US. 2. All weddings are held in the US. 3. All anniversaries are held in the US. 4. Nigerians don't like to research = someone will still come and ask what documents they need to take to the interview apart from the Nigeria passport, GTB receipt, appointment confirmation page. 5. Nigerians will declare that you are not God or the VO, but that won't stop them from still asking for advise and opinions. 6. The VO's study the US NAIRALAND section. 7. Of recent applicants have been applying, with their relatives in the hope that they would qualify for US visa e.g dad and daughter, husband and grandma = this only works for under 18's not adults. 8. Nigerians will still ask for chances = no one except God knows. 9. I probably should stop generalising. #Okbye
All the best! |

Thanks again for a clear and precise response. VisaOfficer: It's impossible to overstate the value of the truth. Just today, someone was refused for a lie they told 40 years ago -- yes, we have records that go back that far, and farther.
That said, why is there a difference between telling the truth in an interview or on the form? Should there be a lie on the form but not during the interview or vice versa? Why not immediately start telling the truth in both? The sooner you start telling the truth the sooner you can start earning back our trust.
You are still likely to be refused, but at least coming clean has a chance to reset the clock so that eventually you can earn a visa. It might take years and significant ties, but it's possible. But if you hold onto that lie -- and most likely, we know it but won't tell you we know it -- you have almost no chance of getting a visa.
Regards, VO |

What will make you come back to Nigeria? You claim to be married with two kids, and a well-paying job and a personal company, I assume you live in your own house?. Those are considered ties to Nigeria. But be prepared to explain why you are leaving your wife and kids, and going to the US with your grandma. Do you have family in the US? Tekecoms1: Please what do you mean by ties? What type of tie is advisable or worth tenable? |

Thanks for the clarification. If I may pop in another question, which I would be most grateful, if you can answer - A lot of candidates have requested for advice on coming clean on prior misrepresentation...are there any avenues for this action, during interview or when filling the forms? Thanks for your prompt and anticipated response. VisaOfficer: Applicants over the age of 79 are not required to come for an interview (in other words, 80 years old or older). They can use the dropbox.

1. DO NOT THINK APPLYING WITH AN ELDERLY PERSON WILL IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES. THE ONLY ONES WHO BENEFIT FROM THIS ARE CHILDREN WHO ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD. I.E. IF THEIR PARENTS GET A VISA, THE KIDS ALSO GET A VISA AND VICE VERSA. SO AS LONG AS YOU ARE 18 AND ABOVE, YOU ARE JUDGED INDEPENDENTLY. 2. Each candidate is expected to qualify on his/her own merits. So your grandma may get the visa, and you may not. What would be your strong ties? You will be assessed on your own merits and not your grandma's. So your grannie may have visa, and you may not get a visa. Tekecoms1: Will accompanying her not boost my application chances too sir? Because myself and her are gonna enter at the same time. |

"This is Nigeria bro" - What do you mean? It would make more sense if your wife and kids travelled with your grandma, to the US, than you. A father wants to leave his wife and his kids to travel with his grandma to the US. What sort of father leaves his wife and kids, and wants to travel to the US with his grandma. All the best! Tekecoms1: I just wanna take the risk of accompanying her perchance I could be given. Besides I am married with two kids and gainfully employed with my own personal business. This is Nigeria bro. |

1. Each candidate is expected to qualify on his/her own merits. So your grandma may get the visa, and you may not. What would be your strong ties? 2. If your grandma is either 70-79, I think, she has a waiver, so she will automatically be given a US Visa with no interview. 3. What is your grandma going to do in the US, and why do you have to follow her, is she disabled in anyway? illiteracy isn't an hindrance, there are a lot of interpreters in the us embassy and Nigerians working in the cbp posts in the US. 4. DO NOT THINK APPLYING WITH AN ELDERLY PERSON WILL IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES. THE ONLY ONES WHO BENEFIT FROM THIS ARE CHILDREN WHO ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OLD. I.E. Me : San Francisco, I stuttered a lil, cus I can't pronounce it properly, I still can't.
VO : are you pregnant
Me: No, thank God I didn't think about being asked about pregnancy, maybe I would have taken a pt strip with me.
VO: sorry bla bla,
Fast forward to last Friday Our appointment was for 7:15 we got to the embassy around 6:40, and joined the queue for our time.
I had noticed the previous night that I booked my appointment with my daughter's gtb receipt number and hers mine. I was a bit nervous, praying we won't be sent back.
We were checked and passed in to the main hall, and I noticed in Lagos the embassy tout have their boundaries very far away from the embassy sensitive area, unlike in Abuja where they are everywhere ' as at last year'
So we got in did all the checks, and was waiting our turn on the queue, the Chinese guy was nice that day and an America VO, I was hoping to interview with one of them, that was how I heard , the elderly ones and those with kids below six will be expedited, they were moving us out of the line and I fall in front of the Indian lady, I was the third on the line. She refused the first lady, I didn't really pay attention to her interview. But the woman right in front of me was just shouting at her ' I want to go to amelica' she asked her where in the US she wanted to go to like 4 times before she said New Jersey, she was there shouting ' I want to go to amelica' the VO had to refuse her.
Then it got to our turn
VO : smiling at my daughter, they both were waving at each other. Good morning madam
Me: Good morning ma
VO: she was taking some time , still smiling at my daughter, she looked at me and said have I attended her interview before, I said no but I have been denied before, she said she is bringing my previous interview up to check.
Me : okay
VO: what do you do
Me : am an experience center manager
VO : you still work with ......
Me: yes, and I got promoted last year
VO: is that your only child
Me: yes
VO: where does your husband works, I filled him as my sponsor
Me: states his position and where he works
VO: why are you interviewing in Lagos this time
Me : that's because I was posted out of Abuja last year from work and Lagos is the closest location for me right now.
VO where are you going to
Me Florida, Orlando Florida
VO why is your husband not going
Me he wants us to go on this trip but subsequently he 'll join
VO where does your husband work
Me told her what I said before
VO how long has he worked there
Me 6yrs
VO how many kids do you have
Me Just her
VO how long have you been with...... Me 7yrs
VO how did you know about the hotel
Me we got it from the internet
VO are they offering anything
Me complete 12 days package.
VO congratulations, your visa is approved, she gave me the slip
Me :you too, you too, erm thank you ma.
* our passport are new
* I was denied last year
* I didn't take any documents with me
* wasn't wearing my ring * I didn't lie about anything in my previous interview, that's very crucial I guess, cause she made sure she had access to my previous interview before starting with me
* i am married but applied without my husband

Do you know that it is a crime, to spend any money that was mistakenly sent to your account? That's because it's not yours in the first place. The bank upon confirmation that it was a mistake, will refund the amount from your account, even if you have spent the money. |

What is stopping you from overstaying your visa, if you get the visa, since your boyfriend is an American and based in the US? You need to prove that you will return by having a very strong tie to Nigeria. Unless you can prove this, you may just be denied every time. That is the only issue the VO has, in my opinion. VictoriaRi: Good morning Nairalanders,
First I'd like to say thank you to everyone keeping this platform updated, informative and supportive... Reading throught this thread, I can only imagine the multitude you have tremendously assisted.
I had my interview for a B2 visa last week to visit my boyfriend (American). Unfortunately however, I wasn't granted. Reason given was, I quote, '' You're a pretty, single lady and you work for yourself so you don't have strong ties ''. No questions about my family and investments were posed. I am well traveled over the past 10 years, and lived and studied in Europe for a few years. Never broke a law or overstayed. The VO saw these in my passports.
My boyfriend wishes me to reapply in time for the 4th of July Independence Day celebrations. I guess my question is, how long MUST I wait before I am allowed to reapply, and when the VO said I don't have strong ties because I work for myself, does this mean this has to change before I can reapply? Does she want me to marry him, since she mentioned me being single? *OK, kidding here*.. I own the majority shares of my company, and it does very well in the Marketing and Advertisement industry. I would think I would do less well working for another establishment. Your advice and support would be greatly appreciated. |
Travel › Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by KaptainAfrika: 9:44am On May 23, 2017 |
1. Don't reapply again, immediately. Do that maybe in 3 months time or when you guys have been married for a year. 2. Do not. I repeat do not select B2 medical visa for your next interview. Why? Because it would mean that you lied about the intent for your visa. 3. The VO probably suspects you wish to give birth in the US and you lied about your intent. Burgundy29: Hi everyone, please I need your advise. My husband and I applied for US visa last week and we went for our interview today but my husband is familiar with the US,he has been to the US so many times and we are newly wed also.I have only been to Dubai but my husband was given the visa and I was denied. The VO didn't ask so much questions from myself and my husband, she only asked if my husband and I have travelled together,I told her No, also asked when we got married, I told her 3 months ago, she asked if I was pregnant and I said no and I was given the GREEN paper and she wrote on the paper that I have not demonstrated that I have any ties and don't have any strong ties that indicates that I will return to my country after a temporary visit to the US. Such ties include professional, work, school, family or social links to a foreign country. I filled in my form that I'm a lawyer in a law firm ,am married, earn 200k per month and they still denied me. I want to reapply again, pls kindly advise me on how to go about it and what step to take. Thank you. |
