Please I need your advise, I used to work with a private organisation when I applied and renewed my previous US visas. Now I need to renew my visa again since it has expired but am no longer working for the private company I used to work but doing my business with a registered company (mainly supplies). Please what do I fill for "Occupation" in ds160 form.

Don't be in a rush, build your ties. A job, good finances these will overcome travel history as many people have gotten without travel history. But it's up to you, better luck next time.

My opinion:
- The higher your finances, the greater your chances...logic: why will you leave a high paying job to start afresh in the US.
- The higher your finances, you are able to take your family on vacation, if it is a family visa application.
- Finances is a much stronger tie, I think.
- If you are being sponsored by your organization and your finances are good, you may be given.
- Finances here refers to income from personal business or salary from paid work.
- The strength of any tie is negated by prior misrepresentation or credibility issues.
- The US sha does not want liabilities.
- The strength of the financial tie, is determined by the presence or absence of dependants.

I have a question please. Are all ties on the same level? For example, can someone who earns 10m monthly be said to be on the same tie level as another who earns 1m?

MrA earns 500k and MrB earns 2m. Both without travel history. Isn't MrB's job tie still stronger than MrA's? Isn't this the reason why a lot of MrB's get the Visa even without travel history.

Also, can someone who earns 10m working for 9mobile be on the same tie level as someone working in DPR or MOBIL for the same 10m as monthly salary?

1. While no one knows your chances. What is the purpose of applying with your mum? is it to improve your chances, if so, no need to do so. If you get the visa, it will be easy for her to get the visa too. But if you go along with her, it would be awkward for her to get the visa, and not you...
I think going with your mum, will just increase scrutiny.
2. When last did you apply? hope its more than 9 months?
3. You can just put "denied due to 241b." since you are not told the reason.

So am reapplying again now but with my retired 67yr old mum on B2 medical as am now pregnant. On the d-160 form I was asked d reason for d first denial n i just put 'Not Eligible'

1. I think it may have to do with previous applications (have you applied before?)
2. I think it might also be your finances.
3. I think it has to do with purpose of trip.
3. I think it might have to do with the current situation at the place you intend to travel i.e. is it snowing in the location etc.

- When does a project start? from construction or from the plans? or from approval from the owners of the project?
- A man did a plan for a building without "divine approval"
- But the same man is saying that he is waiting for "divine approval" before construction can start.
- So who gave him permission to draw up the plan?

As long as you are an adult, you will be judged based on your own merit. There is no advantage to going along with a group for an interview, in fact it might even invite tougher scrutiny.

To know if you have strong ties, ask yourself these questions.
- do you have a job?
- do you have a family?
- have you travelled out of the country?
- do you have good finances?
My advise, don't apply yet. Build up your profile and then apply. There will be lots of Easters to travel to the US and you don't actually need an invitation letter.

1. I think it maybe about your financial ability, why are you not travelling with family, do you make enough income from this business.
2. It could be a punitive measure, how did your brother-in-law and/or his wife enter the US? is your brother-in-law, a citizen?
3. Is this your first applying?
4. The business you are into, this is the season but I don't think this should make a difference, as you have workers working for you.
5. Maybe your business can't be easily verified e.g. a website, social media presence etc

1. I think you don't need a visa to visit any ECOWAS country e.g. Ghana, Togo, Benin republic etc, so that probably no longer is a tangible travel history, my opinion.
2. Another point, how did your sister enter the US?
3. And what is with "graduation ceremonies"? it would make more sense to me, that the father and/or the mother would be the one's going for the offspring's graduation ceremony. (a VO might think along this way)
4. You are leaving your family behind to visit your sister, why can't you go as a family? maybe your finances are not as strong as you claim (a VO might think along this way)
