Enough of making other people's daughters look materialistic, when we would want our own daughters and sisters to be with guys who can make their lives (and our own, as per in-law) comfortable. |

A father and mother and two kids. That's true though. But if the family have a good travel history, or a good financial standing or both, then they maybe they can be given a visa. In my opinion, another important factor in this interview, is the purpose of the trip. Why go for wedding anniversary with all your family, why not a family vacation? hardeyeanc: For family of 4 that intends to travel for a vacation with his family won't it be like he (the man) is travelling with his ties since "children" is part of ties u mentioned |

Lets look at this: 1. Visiting with wife and two sons = Family travel history + Sponsors Finances 2. Purpose of trip - Wedding anniversary = Cool, but why take the kids? + Sponsors finances 3. Length at place of work = hmm... 3 years (if you had previous experience at another place of work, you should have mentioned it here e.g I work at X for 3 years but previously I worked at Y for 6 years...total work experience = 9)4. Marriage length, 8 years = Hmmm, married for 8 years but hasn't travelled out with the family, suddenly wants to go to the US for anniversary + Sponsors finances. 5. I personally think its your finances, this would have been offset if you travelled out of the country as a family (if you have travelled out as a family, then its most likely finances). 6. REAPPLY WITH YOUR WIFE ONLY. LEAVE THE KIDS BEHIND. MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THEIR CARE. ALTERNATIVELY, HAVE A GREAT ANNIVERSARY IN A COUNTRY THAT'S STRESS-FREE. ALL THE BEST.charlesazeh: I was denied today I don't know why..was visiting with my wife and 2boys...got to window 6 she greeted and we did in return too..vo: why are you going to America, me: our wedding anniversary, vo: where do u work...me: realtor with x company..how long have u been working there? 3yrs...how long have u been married..8yrs.. THIS IS THE PROBLEM: vo: unfortunately you do not av strong ties to bla bla...&she brought out d blue paperYou don't have strong ties according to the VO. If you reappear and nothing has changed from your last interview, it may result in the same verdict. Ties include anything that will make you come back to Nigeria e.g. - Marital situation - Children - Finances - Properties - Work Travel history is not a tie. So don't bother trying to get one for the sake of the interview. Also note - having a family in the US, constitutes a tie to the US. bayoolala: Hi Nairalanders, I &my family had our interview in Lagos few WEEKS ago and it went thus: vo: gud morning we: gud morning vo: passport please Me: gave all our passports (3passports I, wife & daughter) vo: why are you going to us? A husband with a wife and three kids. If you are going for a conference, its understandable but if its for vacation, the VO might be concerned about your financial ability or worse that you wish to illegally migrate to the US. Why are you actually going alone? the answer to that is what you should tell the VO, if you are asked, it would be more believable than saying your wife is afraid of flying...what if she appears for a US interview and its on record that she's scared of flying? So just say the truth as to why you are going alone. You have strong ties to Nigeria anyway. tonyik: My interview is tomorrow, am married with 3 kids, 5,4 and 2yrs old. I intend to travel alone. 1. Its definitely a financial issue. 2. A very public disagreement between husband and wife about a question asked by the VO, is a bad sign. Why are you saying 1.6m and your wife is saying 2.5m? 3. Leave the US embassy for now. Go to another country, to show that you can actually afford a foreign trip (LEAVE ECOWAS COUNTRIES). When next you apply for a US Visa, please do your homework as per budgeting and agree on what to say. I think you would have gotten the visa, if you and your wife didn't differ in the flight ticket cost. Omolola81: VO:Good morning Me:Good morning

1. Travel to other countries as a family. 2. Your salary in the eyes of the VO may not have been able to sustain your trip. 3. It may have something to do with your prior application, did you fill something different from the previous applications? 4. You were asked a YES or NO question. There are also questions that would require for you to clarify. Also only answer what you are asked. 5. Its not a good sign when someone is correcting you on an information, you are meant to know e.g. where you work. 6. Leave the US for now. Go somewhere else as a family. You need to increase your chances without looking desperate. Saylawchar: After going through all the screening stages and the parking stress, i finally entered around 8: 25am and my interview was for 8am but men, see crowd. May God heal our land. Guys are moving out!!!!
Now to my transcript, being my 3rd attempts, two was in 2011 as a single guy going through F1 and today as a married man with my wife and 4 year old son wanted to go through B1/B2.
the interview went thus, shortly before us, young couple newly married i guess were denied and then our turn, one black American lady in window 7 actually interviewed us.
vo: good morning me & wify: good morning ma vo: is that your son me: yes vo: stretched to see his face from her desk me: i then lifted him up, carried him in my hands all through the process vo: why do you want to go to the us? me: we are going for family vacation vo: you mean pleasure? me: yes, pleasure. vo: where are you going in the us me: we are visiting Disneyworld, Orlando, FL vo: have you travelled before me: no, due to my work load and its nature, its been difficult to go on any family vacation vo: where do you work? me: i work bla bla bla vo: you mean bla bla me: yes ma, bla bla vo: whats your grade level me: i said 10 vo: typed for a while and then turned to my wife vo: madam, where do you work? wify: i work bla bla as accountant vo: you mean you are and accountant wify: yes, i am, i help in preparing staff salaries and takes schedules to the bank vo: whats your grade level wify: level 12 vo: typed for a while and then said sorry, unfortunately your visa can not be granted, then handed us the blue paper.
i discovered that i actually made one silly mistake, in my ds 160, i filled my salary to be 320k while that of my wife was 285k but during interview her grade level as 12 while i said mine is 10 yet we both work with parastatals under FG.
now, my question is: how soon can we re-apply and what do you suggest i do in case of next time? |
