Car TalkRe: Nigeria’s Driver’s License Accepted In The USA by KayDee4: 1:59pm On Jul 16, 2012
stannydon: any Nigerian who is allowed to drive in United States will kill himself and a lot of people.
That is suicidal. How many have you killed, are you Boko Haram in disguise ? cheesy
stannydon: You have to pass the driving and alcohol test, and then the road test in any state in USA.
Alcohol test ? shocked Where are you ?
stannydon: In the first place, Nigerians don`t go proper driving school or online road rules. Somebody got me the so called new driving license in Nigeria in my absent. You have to learn the rules and regulations of driving in United States before you can drive here. Is pure on merit not on bribery like it is done in Nigeria. You have to pass the driving and alcohol test, and then the road test in any state in USA.
I didn't see the 4 walls of a driving school but I learnt on the streets, everything I had to know about driving.
Even with all the tests and rules, Americans have their own version of recklessness while driving, sometimes i fear them pass Danfo drivers sef especially the ones that text with one hand and hold coffee cups with the other while driving.

I wont call it wack but I think it lacks the usual spark of the D'Banj-Don Jazzy combo. It will take some time for people to get used to them as a 'divorced' pair. Part of the thrill in their songs for me was seeing them as a duo.

If its an advertised position and you are required to submit your CV online, then you should. Unsolicited online applications are okay too, it doesn't cost money so there's no harm in trying. However, if you want to get aggressive, you can decide to call and schedule an appointment with someone in charge, you must be adept in the prospective profession or position to try this.

Car TalkRe: Nigeria’s Driver’s License Accepted In The USA by KayDee4: 2:48pm On Jul 14, 2012
This is nothing new, this one na advert by FRSC for people to come and get new DLs.
The Nigerian DL has always been accepted as a license to drive albeit for a limited time (60 or 90 days).
For ease of getting a state issued DL in the US, some states accept it and others don't need it. Even within some states, a DPS/DMV office in one county may accept and the DPS/DMV office in the next county rejects it.

Foreign AffairsRe: Romney Narrows VP Choices; Condi Emerges As Frontrunner by KayDee4:
HNosegbe: From a pragmatic point of view, Condi would be a very good choice. She's widely respected, she's smart, she has extensive experience in governance as a secretary of state, she's a woman and she's black. If Romney chooses her as VP candidate it will bolster his chances significantly. cool
Some conservatives will throw up at the mention of her name as potential VP pick. Anyone associated with lowly rated G. Bush's administration is 'bad market' for Romney (wonder why no cameras or journalists were allowed @ d Romney - Cheeney meeting today ? ) . I think the story was cooked up as a deliberate attempt to divert media attention from the Bain capital and tax-return attacks that have been raining down hard on Romney. Still a possibility though , repubs are full of surprises undecided.

I am leaving before the end of the month.

Not to scare you or suggest any foul play on the part of your "friend's friend", you have to be very very careful when people you are not very close to ask you to help them deliver things across international borders, you can never be too sure of what you're carrying, its a format for drug trafficking. Again I'm not suggesting any sinister motive on your friend's part but be careful.

This is an opportunity to warn intending travellers, dont carry or hold stuff for strangers @ d airport.

Traveling interstate to deliver a package will be stressful for you, you can post it to the recipient when you get here or better still like JK suggested, leave it in Naija.

BusinessRe: Naira Falls As Crude Oil Price Declines by KayDee4:
manny4life: Bros, what don't you understand by companies packing up? undecided undecided undecided
Valero Corp. (2nd or 3rd largest refiner in the U.S.) is closing or have closed a good portion of their operations in the U.S. meanwhile Sunoco is doing the same (closing of their largest plant). Valero are relocating back to South America where labor and EPA requirements are cheap and less stringent respectively.
Just wondering undecided undecided undecided , because crude oil price is a global thing and is not likely to be much affected by local (US) refineries shutting down. Besides, low crude price should be good news to refining companies, no be today them start to dey shut down and re-open, when the conditions turn from unfavourable to favourable. Refineries shutting down will only affect the price of the finished product (gasoline). I thought the ones that packed up a while ago left because of high crude oil prices and I understand your point about EPA and cost of labour too, its all encompassing. Just my 2 cents anyway.

nijanigga: You talk true my brother. But our people think they got brain are condeming you. They will soon join robbery, reality is happening. Americans are drilling their crude oil right now and will be importing more oil from Canada. In 5 or 6 years Nigeria's oil will be useless.
Lol, Nigeria's oil will never be useless. like Libya's sweet crude, it will always be more sought after than Canada's heavy oil and most of the oil from middle east.

Carson : "Boko Haram capitalizes on the poverty and misery in the northern part of Nigeria, the Nigerian government should address the root cause of the problem by providing better governance to all Nigerians. Boko Haram thrives because of social and economic problems in the north that the government must find a way of addressing"

Smith:
"Ideology that is highly, highly radicalized may exploit poverty at times, but poor people do not necessarily become terrorists and killers. That is an insult, frankly, to poor people,".

manny4life: Why are you guys attacking Mmuo_Okija? grin grin grin

He said the obvious truth, Nigeria was warned.

Like he said, no thanks to the U.S. who no longer buys increased volume of crude not only in Nigeria but Africa in general because most of their refineries in U.S. are packing up.

Recession is on the way, and it will hit like a mighty way, while we can still salvage and diversify our economy , the only solution now is for govt to STOP controlling/managing and START regulating and encouraging.

Nigeria has great potentials unlike other nations, we just need good, STRONG fiscal policies in place.

SmoothCrim: As long as you keep calling them "The North" and not seeing them as the same as you the problem will not be solved. If the country is one country then their problems are your problems. Ultimately all this is proving is that the country is divided but, cannot divide because the North will not be a viable state and we will get 2 failed states in West Africa instead of one.

In the end, the simplest solution is free Education in the North which abhors extremism as part of the curriculum.

Musiwa2: It is not about the US looking for a country to destroy. It my people. we are talking about even if the USA was looking to destroy Nigeria or africa for their selfish means.. I will not be supporting a move like that. But I am african who know what will happen. That why I am supporting the break up of Nigeria to save the people. They have tried hard to frame me.. So i know what I am going through.

If you read my post. In one occasion I said I am ready to spend the rest of my life in prison just to save millions of lifes.. I know what will happen after seen the satellite pictures.. Look Gani is my relation. He went to jail 32 times trying to save the people.

There is going to be civil war in Nigeria. I am telling. Stop listen to politician or people who are looking to explore the people for money. I am telling you, looking africa.. I am not part of a gang blowing up Nigeria. look millions of Nigeria will tell you this same. If you doubt me. I can name a place and just put it on the internet and million of nigerian will show the world I am telling the truth. by standing in that place. There will be civil war in Nigeria over the satellite pictures. I am not doing it for myself. I am doing it for them.

Look you see when Goodluck name a university how they reacted to something just simple. I am not telling lies. I am putting my life at sake to this.. I have already lost people I know already been killed. So I am telling you. They would be trouble if they dont break up NIgeria.

I know people who are governor of state and I should be greed and self my own selfishness and make millions. But I have not done that. Look if I wanted to get a $100 million from the Nigeria govt I am able to do that illegally. but I have not done that because I put people first before million of dollars. I love the people more than I love money.

Countries that have benefited from the United States largesse include:

-South Korea (After Korean War)
-Japan (After WWII)
-Western Europe (After WWII)

Wouldn't you want to be like these nations instead of nations that have chosen the path of enemy? Choose wisely. The United States doesn't forget countries that are allied with them. Nor do we forget our enemies.

are you suggesting "destroy and rebuild" ? ? huh you can add Afghanistan and Iraq to that list. They're definitely US allies now.

Tropilo: How many of these banks mentioned pay dividends to their share holders? I own shares in Skye and have not received a kobo for 6 years. ECOBANK pay dividends yearly and on time, even in US Dollars, yet they did not make the list. I think the criterium for judging is very faulty.
Banks are usually rated by assets, liquidity, returns to it investors/share holders instead of the mundane criteria listed in the post.

i've finally decided on the schools for my post graduate studies...
Geotech Engineering-Texas A&M
Geotech Eng- U texas Austin
Geological science and Engineering- Colorado school of Mines.
What do U guys think? i pray one of those will admit me.
Someone jst told me that Texas A&M hardly admit international students...i doubt that bt i just wanna confirm so dat i don't waste d application fee.
What of Delf University netherland? Heard its a very good sch for engineering.
Am also thinking of switching to Petroleum Engineering MEng @ University of Tulsa..please judging from the fact that i did Civil Eng B.Eng..is that a good career move..i need you guys that are more experienced in this to advice me.

Those are good options you have for schools but I dont think anyone can tell whether or not you will be admitted unless you submit your application and it is reviewed,; however, you can check up the acceptance rates of different schools (can't remember the website now), that will give you an idea of your chances of getting admitted. Its always harder (but not impossible) to get into top ranked schools like the ones you listed ; you should cast your net far and wide, expand your options by applying to different schools, some top ranked ones usually with low acceptance rates and lower ranked ones with higher acceptance rates.
Also check the departmental website of your prospective program in the different schools you wish to apply to and look for available research in your area of interest then contact the professors involved and get talking. If you find someone that has a project you can work on, that will boost your chances of admission by a great deal.

proudly9ja: @KayDee, I don't think RVP will be behave the way Tevez did. If we refuse to sell him, he would play his final year and leave for free. Its a contract and he is obliged to play that final year. I doubt it if Arsene would send RVP on the field and RVP would refuse to go and play. Even Nasri as bad as he was didn't do that to Arsene.

Moreover, let's even assume that he would be unprofessional and refuse to play. How would it affect us in terms of personnel? I personally do not think that Arsene Wenger would reinvest whatever money he gets from selling RVP. So whichever way, whether he runs out his contract or not, we are still left with Podolski, Giroud and Walcott/Gervinho/Arshavin.

My siggestion isn't a form of punishment to RVP. Its just a way of letting the players we have know that you can't keep behaving that way year in year out. I believe this is equivalent to option 3 in your post?

I didn't say he will do that, I was just saying it will be pointless to bench him for not renewing his contract cos everyone will lose. City cld do that to Tevez cos they had quality backup strikers and can afford to offload Tevez for nothing. If we decide to keep him for the final year and not cash in, then we can as well get the best of his services b4 he leaves.

The timing was perfect, gives the club time to make up their minds and get the squad settled b4 the new season begins.
RvP owes us nada beyond fulfiling the terms of his contract; he hasn't put in a transfer request so he hasn't done anything out of line 'yet' .
That Arsenal stood by him during his injury problems doesnt mean he's obliged to stand by Arsenal while we sink. Arsenal and the fans can patiently wait 10 or 20 years for a trophy but the dude is nearing his expiry date and can't afford to wait.

Mechanical engineers also work in EnP, they are in charge of designing, monitoring and maintenance of the machinery used in exploration, I've seen mechanical engineers become drilling, piping, reservoir and even petroleum engineers.
If you apply and get a job with your bachelors degree, then you will be trained on the job into any of these areas but if you need a Masters degree or higher to get a job (which is the case nowadays), then it will be better to specialize in a specific area of interest (energy related) or switch altogether to petroleum or reservoir engineering, I believe this widens your prospects.
