I'm kinda new here in following this thread. Pls has anyone applied for MSc information technology security in either University of Ontario Institute of Technology or Concordia college university of Alberta ( cos those are d 2 I saw offering anything relating to comp security) on how they went about admission process and d possible challenges. pls help a bro

I am an Msc student of Concordia university college of Alberta, and my course is Information systems security management.

The admission process is pretty straight forward if you meet the standard admission requirements; it will be an added advantage if you have some computing certifications backed up with work experience.

The University is a little more expensive (currently 27k dollars) because it is a private school and not too big. But they are rated highly in information security studies.

As for your other question on trv and work permit, fear not. Get the admission first then your trv and work permit will follow.

We NLand family are very positive minded and believe in our Canadain dreams, so take it one step at a time.

You can apply from any country where you have legal right of residency. Many of my friends applied straight from the UK after their undergraduate studies and are now in Canada for Masters.

Yes you need a transit visa to go through the US because they have open airport system. Am travelling to Canada with KLM but going through Amsterdam to Vancouver.

Please tell the KLM office to change your booking to a flight going through Europe straight to Canada.

KLM has 3 routes from naija to Canada of which 2 go through Europe straight to Canada while 1 flight goes through the US.

My 50 cent advice is avoid the USA on your first trip to Canada.

On the other hand, I have a masters degree in health informatics from UK already and i am considering going for a second degree in Canada. I love the health informatics course, but unfortunately couldn’t get much hands-on experience in UK . Now am thinking of going for another course in Canada. However, I think it wont be logical to go for Health Informatics Masters again in Canada as this may cause visa denial. I am now considering either a PhD in Health Informatics or an MPH. Please which Canadian university does one have higher chances of getting funding for MPH since I made a Distinction in my MSc. Other suggestions will be welcomed particularly if people know of Health Informatics programs and career prospect in Canada.

It is a very wrong idea to conclude for the VOs. Doing a second Masters does not raise visa alarm as projected.

I have a friend who had her Masters from the UK with distinction in information systems management and now she is doing a Masters in information security systems management.in Canada.

So my dear, if Phd go slow u down. Take the Master's route. Don't deny yourself even before VOs do.
