kennykentipsy: This information is very wrong. There is nothing like 1USD to 1 CAD. As at Today, The USD is still exchanged at a higher rate than the CAD here in Canada. |

TempusQ: Very wrong info. There is no ban on the use of MasterCard for ATM withdraws in Canada. We still use our Naija MasterCard over here. Its just a daily limit of $300. So stop the unnecessary panic cheers 1 Like |

yat11: I see you will be arriving Edmonton for the spring semester, You can info me your travel itinerary. If it works fine for me. I will do my little kind gesture of picking you up from the Airport. This applies to any of my lovely nairalanders coming to Edmonton, Alberta...I can't provide accommodation but I can help out with the Airport pickup as this was one of my challenges when I arrived this city. The airport is 45 min drive city centre. Good luck you all. 3 Likes |

You have a good edge to make lovely money in the Canada. there are lots of oil and gas jobs after your masters to make good money. "The cold no be joke up in the oil sands but you will make nice money" Just sacrifice the years of Masters and come out tops in your engineering field then smile after school. 1 Like |

ipain: Hi, I have gone through your post and it sounds very desperate. I must warn you that showing signs of desperation is the easiest way of falling into a scam. The reason people succeed in scamming is because they are patient and build trust with their victims before they strike the victim. No body can issue you a visa from Canada, even a parent can't get visa for their adult children. You must go through the visa process. So if he wants to help you, he should send you legitimate job offer that you can verify with Canadian embassy in Lagos. Please take a few minutes and read about this type of visa promises on the Canadian immigration website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/protection/fraud/internet.asp |

Estien: Pls go ahead with your application because you have nothing to lose with a try. I always advice people to be bold and take chances. So don't say it is not possible when you haven't tried. The worst thing that can happen, is that you will be required to defer your admission. Good luck |

MrArams: Yes it is insanely too high and still unjustifiable. As for the one-time CAD$2500 financial aid; you are only eligible, if you get a minimum of 3.7 out 4.0 in a semester (approx. 4 A- or 3 As and 1 B+). So it all boils down to what you can offer. |

VickyRotex: Hi... Thanks for the update. But is the increament applicable to Concordia University, Montreal aswel? Or its just the one at Alberta... And your breakdwon for Info system security 20k+ is it per session? Hello VickyRotex The increase is for Concordia in Alberta and 20k plus is just for course credit. All international students must pay the international student fees of 9k plus in addition to the 20k plus. They charge per semester and credit units. not per season so you may spend more in you cant take full credit load per semester. |

Hello all future Canadian students, This is just a heads up to avoid getting into financial difficulties in Canada. A recent development on tuition increase in the Concordia University College of Alberta (CUCA) has been causing mixed emotions, stress and pressure on post graduate students. The tuition fee was increased from $27,000 to $32,420 without prior information and all post graduate students (Old and New) were mandated to pay the new fees. A lot of you may scream; that's not fair!!! Yes it is not but there is little the students can do about it. This is because the initial tuition fee statement sent to students for obtaining their visas had the small prints "Tuition fees are subject to change". which foreign students did not take into consideration Now this are things you must confirm from your prospective school before your arrive Canada: 1. How many semester/terms will you be charged international student fees ? CUCA charges international student fees in 4 semesters. NOTE: international student fees was increased from $2205 to $2340 per semester. So international student fee will cost you an extra $9360 2. Ensure you confirm the number of course credit unit required for your program of choice? The Master of information system security and Master of Information system Assurance program require 60 course credits. CUCA increased their course credit fee per 3 credits from $966 to $1026 which means 60 credits will cost you $20920 3. Always ask the school to give you a full breakdown of all the additional mandatory fees such as student union, sports. technology fee. repatriation fee, student health insurance fee and many others. CUCA mandatory fees are estimated at $385 per semester, so the program will cost you an additional $1540 in mandatory fees So this is the actual cost of taking the Master of Information system security management and Master of information system Assurance management program in Concordia University College of Alberta: Tuition: $20920 dollars International student fees: $9360 dollars Mandatory fees: $1540 dollars Student Health insurance fee: $600 dollars So a Total of $32,420 This is Concordia University College of Alberta fees, Please ensure you confirm the fees in your chosen school before accepting any admission BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ACCEPT BEFORE COMING 6 Likes |

larrswag: abeg o!! please my fellow country people, who GOD touch im heart fit send me SOP sample for my inbox- hilaryikemefuna@yahoo.com..i take God beg u na,VO turn me down, so i dey package for next year fall....and i wan ask this question the sponsor wey i wan use no relate to me at all, no memorable picture, how i fit convince the embassy so dat dem go tink say na legit...i nid help You don't need a memorable picture. You need a sponsorship letter from him/her addressed to the Canada Deputy high Commission stating that they have been supporting your education and are willing to sponsor you for further studies in Canada. Ensure the letter is detailed enough (include the course title, duration and school) and most importantly what he/she does for a living. As for the SOP; you need to write your own unique letter stating why you chose the course you intend engaging in Canada and your expectation from the Canadian degree. Good luck |

Hello future Canadian students; Just a quick info that could save you a lot of cash when you arrive Canada. Please try to write as much relevant professional certifications in your field before coming over(You got good 3 months). Professional certifications will help you get course exemption in most schools and that is cash savings for you considering Canadian schools charge per credit unit (per subject taken). And you can also use the professional certificates to get better job opportunities here; so its a win win situation for you 8 Likes |
