jaybmich: @nasjay, Kclexa, and any1 who has an idea about passport correction, I need to clarify somethings concerning my DOB error on my passport. I heard it can only be corrected in Abuja. The passport was issued last year May, but I want to get it corrected, but I have no idea how many months it will take to get it done, and. And the ranges of fee am likely to be charged. I will really appreciate if enlightened more!!!

Yes date of birth error is handled in Abuja headquarters but not without its challenges. I met a guy who was processing his own at Abuja office early this year, he had to present his original birth certificate, court affidavit, national ID card and every other documents such as WAEC with a letter explaining the error.

Please be careful when dealing with certain immigration office staff. They will take your huge cash and yet you will have to wait 3 to 4 months.

The change is not without it's risk and financial setback. Remember you stand to loss a percentage of your tuition deposit if not all, depending on the terms of the school. If you decide to enter Canada with the visa obtained using school A LoA. You must withdraw before term start else you will loss all your tuition deposit.

You can't change the school on the same visa application. You would have to withdraw and reapply with the new school's LOA.

No worry the question is not getting too much yet, cos we are here to help. Where wahala go dey na if you ask us for the date and time your trv go ready then we got point cdhc office for you fast fast

Now to your question; You have to be an account holder to wire money from any bank in naija. It does not mean you must use your bank as someone in another bank can make the transfer on your behalf. But it must move from a bank account and not over the counter cash transaction.

As for being fast; it depends on if your are wiring from a domiciliary account or from a current account

If you wire from current account then you will need to request for FORM A; which is an official request for the bank to buy foriegn currency at CBN official/auction rate (much cheaper than interbank rate) and wire to the school for you.

This CBN currency purchase is normally done Monday, Wenesday and Friday.
From observation; Firstbank and Fidelity Bank are very efficient. GTB is not bad either. I don't really know much about other banks but some may act funny when you request for FORM A. They would try to sell you dollars at interbank rate pretending it is faster. Please dont fall for it.

Your money will reflect in the school's bank account 2 to 3 days after you receive the talex from your bank.

Now this is interesting. I have never heard where the location a passport was issued affected anyone's visa. As long as it is a genuine passport.

Seems your agent need some tutorials from nairaland.

Considering your passport is a bearly a month old and without any reasonable error; getting a new one won't be easy.

My passport had 1 year and about 3 months left on it when I went to request for a new one in Abuja because I wanted to apply for a 2 year visa. My brother immigration office turned to my second house.

I had to write a detailed letter why I required a new passport when my current passport still had more then a year validity. This letter had to be approved by a very senior officer there in Abuja headquarters before I could proceed with payment and biometric capture.

The process is not the same renewing expired passport or getting a fresh passport. As the current one will be cancelled immediately they approve and start the process.
Another thing to note, if approved; you may have to wait for 3 weeks to receive the new one.

So my brother, leave your agent story. What of people who live in Warri but got their passport in Lagos. Abi na only Abuja people dey travel out?

Yes, in most cases the email notification from cdhc for medicals get to you before they send your passport to vfs.
Your passport gets to vfs the next day or 2. Depending if it's a weekend or public holiday the next day.

In the main time you can call the clinic and schedule an appointment if your are going to use the clinics that require appointments.

1. Is it cool if I pay via Mastercard?
2. Can I submit the receipt generated after the online payment to the embassy as proof of payment?

Online payment is surely the easiest and faster way of paying. Just ensure you are using a credit card cos many Canadian schools don't accept Mastercard debit cards which is what your naira Mastercard is.

Something else to note is that online payment acknowledgement receipt is different from the official receipt requested by the embassy.
Please call the school's account department before making the payment online.
Also call them to confirm payment immediately you pay online, then ask them to send you the official receipt .

This receipt will carry information regarding all the fees you have paid so far including the initial tuition deposit, I beleive you paid before receiving your CIC admission letter.

@HoraCanada, C of O is gotten from the Ministry of Lands and Survey in the state where the land is situated. This is a government paper indicating your right to occupy the land.

In other to obtain it, you need proper land survey to be carried out on the land if not already done. Apply at the ministry and pay the charges. Please be very careful of fraudstars and touts cos they many for land matter.

freshdude: CDHC requested I withdraw my application and reapply. cause am yet to get a new start date for fall 2014. see wetin their delay cause. imagine applying for visa in may and getting medicals 24th sept. school resumes 20th sept. and the course is only open once a year. just fall semester. my school don't just dish out new start date. it takes time for them to arrive at a decision..!
starting this whole marathon all over again ain't really easy.

Yes britiko, am very sure in regards to Malaysia visa but the UK visa is not affected according to VFS.

Malaysian visa remain valid if the passport remains valid (according to the passport number). Therefore if your old passport get cancelled and you are issued with new passport, you are required to apply for new Malaysian visa.

I was informed that this rule is different for different country. So my advice is based on avoiding the stress if any; as he is yet to enter canada.

Congratulation, I should believe all of the approved clinics in Lagos and prime medical in Port Harcourt are e-medical compliant. I am not too sure of the one in Abuja but I should expect it to be as well. So it all depends on the one closer to you.

Pleas, I advice you overlook the cost and renew it in Canada.

My passport had a little above one year validity when I went to immigration in abuja to renew, my brother the process was not funny o!. They informed me that the ligal process is called passport extension considering the passport had not expired.
My brother by the time I got the new and old passport back I almost fainted; Nigeria immigration actually cancelled the passport before issuing the new passport because we are not allowed by law to hold 2 valid Nigerian passport.

Omo; na there wahala burst because the next process was to meet every embassy I had valid visa for; to transfer the visa onto the new passport.

Well, thank God it was before applying for Canada visa because after 4-5 months to get the first trv. You won't want a repeat 4-5 months to get trv transfered to the new passport.

Abeg, when you enter Canad, if CIC like make them take 1 year to transfer trv and study permit to the new passport no wahala, atleast you done enter.

Did u submit his company registration documents and other activities docx of the company?....even if ur SOA is good and u paid full tuition we have to show proof of how these funds came in existence....as for the second reason for denial- did u submit any landed documents? Did u apply as married man,if yes did u submit proof of family docx(marriage cert,birth cert,kids docx).....please check ur application well....there is more to visa application than just tuition receipt.....i dont want you to have the mindset that its cuz u didnt submit the reciept so as not to miss the real reason....So sorry once again......

I was about to say the same thing as Chrigo pointed out. Something else is actually wrong in your application which is not about submission of tuition receipt because must people are instructed to pay tuition and board when approved for medicals.
In your situation you never got to the medical phase; So recheck your proof of funds properly.

I don't want to sound nasty but what exactly is the role of Marple in visa applications if they can't spot gray areas in applicant's documents before submission?

Your TRV is not actually the same as study permit so the I suspect you actually want to know the duration of study permit.
The study permit is given to you at the port of entry and in most cases, 3 months is added to the duration of your course. After which you can apply for extension if you need more time to finish your program due to unforeseen circumstances.

You are also allowed to deffer your admission to the next immediate term but make sure you have a very substantial reason to do so.
I have a friend who deffered after her trv approval, from May term to September term this year because her trv came out late and the university adviced on differing as she may not cope properly. She is currently in Canada haven resumed this Sept. So yes you can deffer but be careful.

Yes o? you signed the application form, for them to verify all ur info n doc/ soa when needed, they can not go beyond that, how will they verify ur recent account balance, which is not part of the SoA, I just called my account officer and banker fm diff bank, they both said is not posible to verify ur recent account balance which is not part of the S0A, u can call and verify urself!

I like your perception on the issue of their ability to verify current balance of account. My perception is that they are most likely to verify the genuineness of the statements of accounts you submitted. Your account balance is most likely not expected to remain the same throughout the time of processing your visa if there is active cash flow which is why I believe the visa officers try to make sense of your cash flow through the analysis of a 4 months bank statement.

If they needed just the current balance then it would have been easier to just ask us to provide account details without a long 4 months statement.

I have heard of people who got denied trv after paying full tuition fees, so my fellow nigerians lets just do our bit in giving the VOs accurate infos and allow them do their own job.

justwise: No its not true, you have given the embassy everything about you and signed the form declaring that everything you gave to them is genuine, the embassy has the right to verify any document submitted to them if such document raise an eyebrow, its not against any law and the bank do corporate with them embassy because its in the interest of the bank to do so.

You can not sue the embassy or the bank for verifying your account, every embassy has a section that verifies documents and they know what they are looking for.

I joined this forum in faith that it is common ground where we share good advice that would help us all. I hope we remain focus on the main ideology of credibly advice.

Except there is a Canadian visa officer on this forum; we can't be 100% sure or 100% not sure to which extent the documents or information we provide are verified. All we must advice is that everyone should ensure information provided are genuine.
On submission of our visa applications, we all signed an agreement that all information supplied were correct and also agreed to any penalty such as denial of trv if the information is deemed wrong.

I believe the right thing to point out to any prospective applicant is to ensure they submit legitimate and accurate informations that would not result in denial of trv if verification becomes necessary.

sampitts: The transcript is an official one so it should be sent from the school. You just need to pay for the transcript fee and supply the school with the adress details... You might need to follow it up and make sure they send it early enough as some schools can realy delay

@naijaphil; sampitts is correct, it should be sent by the school although I have seen some very funny situations in naija where they hand you the sealed transcript to send yourself.

Now, if this becomes your situation. I would advise that ensure the envelope is properly sealed and the school's official stamp is placed across the seal.
You can use the post office registered mail to send it. It is actually efficient cos I have used it.

Ensure you put the current school's admission details as the sender not your details.

After all said; the best advice is always to have the school send it themselve if they agree but you will have to follow up bumper to bumper.

Married students are allowed to bring in their family if they can afford the expense but it's a little bit difficult depending if you want them to visit or stay permanently.

Welcome bro, yes you are good to go. If the embassy needs a coloured copy they will inform but in must cases they contact the school to verify the receipt.
You can attach a copy of the email from school and your own personal letter explaining that it is the copy you received from the school.

Please use a quality printout.

Please what do you mean by teller? Are you referring to bank telex or black and white recipt draft from the school?

If you're referring to bank telex; wait and give the school a call by 12 noon canadian time and comfirm that the payment has gotten to them. Then plead with the school to email you a scanned copy of the original receipt because you don't have enough time for speedpost (today is Thanksgiving holiday) ) considering 18th is your deadline.

Send the bank telex together with the school receipt to cdhc.

I got to the embassy very early as it was a Friday morning,they didn't attend to anybody until it was 11am then I got a call from them asking me for my start date. I told them jan 6 but I am suppose to be in Canada by dec 29th so I can meet up wit orientation.The lady told me she will get back to me , after an hour the security guard called my name. I got inside and my TRV was waiting on the table... My TRV was issued same day. Just so you know, I submitted my passport back 4 days after I did my medicals at the consultant practice.
