Nairaland General › Yoruba King Kneeling Down Before An Emir To Receive Blessing! by Kdon2(op): 6:41pm On Jun 23, 2021
Femi Fani- Kayode, an outspoken politician and PDP chieftain, has reacted to a photograph of HRH Oba Ismaila Yahaya, the new Olupo of Ajase- Ipo, kneeling to present a letter to HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin.

The new Oba could be seen kneeling in front of the Emir of Ilorin to present the letter in the photo, which has gone viral on social media.
FFK in his tweet said:
" During his visit to the Emir of Ilorin, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the new Olupo of Ajase- Ipo HRH Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu delivers a letter and receives prayers from the Emir of Ilorin HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari. This image conveys a great deal "

According to Wikipedia, when the country' s administrative areas were divided in 1967, Ilorin became part of the West Central (later Kwara) state.

Although its traditional ruler is a Yoruba- speaking Fulani emir, modern Ilorin is primarily populated by Muslim Yoruba people.

In my opinion, That' s the level of desecration of Yoruba culture when an Oba in Yorubaland would be kneeling down for a Fulani man (emir/Oba? ), turning himself to his subject. That Olupo' s head should be examined and see whether it is still normal, if not, the kingmakers of Ajase- po should review his obaship position to accommodate a normal person. It is not a religious matter. It' s purely cultural. The people are neither emir' s servants nor slaves.

The Northern Consensus Movement has stated that Northern Nigeria is the economic heart of Nigeria adding that Northerners are not ‘parasites’

Auwwal Abdullahi Aliyu, leader of the group, made these comments in a press conference on Saturday monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA. According to him, the discovery of Oil in Nigerian was achieved with ‘Northern sweat’.

In his words; “We, the northerners are the economic heart of Nigeria and nobody can address us as parasites. We are the economic heart of Nigeria. The oil that is so being bursted on today was discovered, harnessed and the refineries were constructed with Northern Nigerian sweat, with the Northern Nigerian economy, with the Northern Nigerian money.”

“The money of groundnut pyramids and cotton was the one that was used to research, discover and build the refineries that some other part of Nigeria are claiming to be their own personal property.”

“Our money was the money that was used to develop the oil. Those that got early education from the South-South, South-West and South-East got those education from the Northern economy, from our own money from the Northern sweat”.

Politics › Re: The Sad Chronicles Of A Failed ‘messiah’ by Kdon2: 7:23pm On Jun 20, 2021
chykdidi:
Even his most rabid critics could not have imagined that he would reduce Nigeria to a failed state. Six years on, Muhammadu Buhari has achieved the feat with outstanding ease, as the country has, literally and factually, become one whose defining dynamic is anarchy unbound in all its terrifying ramifications.

As the country steadily dissolves into unrelenting chaos, the president, who’s really not a president, continues to channel Emperor Nero of the ancient Roman Empire, who cruelly fiddled while his beautiful capital city was burning.

Buhari has made our worst nightmare about him come true. Those who really knew him had always readily bracketed his name with incompetence and parochialism. But none of them could have thought that Nigeria would become an expansive killing field, painted with the blood of thousands of innocent Nigerians, under his ill-starred, befuddled leadership.
Back in 2015 during his first inauguration as president, he had declared that, “I belong to no one, and I belong to everybody.” That declaration was tangibly hollow even then, which made the inherent falsehood most galling.

Those were not his words because they never came from his heart. They sounded good and noble, and projected a false determination to be a leader of all Nigerians. They were woven into his address to reinforce the myth that he was truly a changed man. One whose notorious dictatorial instincts had morphed to some grudging acceptance, if not admiration, of the beauty of democracy despite its inherent flaws.

But he has since been found out, not by those who knew him, but those who had elevated him to the status of a messiah who would come to rescue and regenerate Nigeria. They have lost patience with his unapologetic fealty to crude nepotism and extreme nativism, as he has presided over the diminution of the country in every respect.

To be fair to him, he never pretended to be, or pronounced himself a messiah. Those who sold his candidacy and swore that he was the answer to our problems, particularly insecurity and corruption, tagged him as the messiah. To every legitimate question about his capabilities and preparedness for the office, they had a robust riposte: “Is that the issue? It doesn’t matter.”

What mattered more to them was ending the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan whom the then leading opposition party, APC, had, through brilliant propaganda, tarred as “clueless” and, therefore, didn’t merit another term in office.

Nonetheless, Buhari basked in the glow of his elevation and celebration as a god. Even the man, who affects the air of asceticism, wasn’t immune to the irresistible draw of intoxicating flattery.

As we all now know, the god has been disrobed. Aso Rock has never hosted a messiah since May 29, 2015, and won’t host any in the next two very challenging years of Buhari’s presidency. Ironically, as the country is drowning in despair and desperation and his star has dimmed considerably, that of the man he succeeded hasn’t stopped rising and glowing.

theTranslator:
My opposition to secession-Zik Sunday, June 25, 2017 8:28 pm By Nnamdi Azikiwe When the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression – ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ – and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued. The Secretary of State then was Oliver Littleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in saying that the people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level. So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer. He made his points why secession should be incorporated in the constitution. He cited the case of the Soviet Union which is a federation, and that secession is written there so that any state in the Soviet Union can secede at will. He also cited the case of Western Australia and eventually he finished his case and was applauded. Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason We adjourned. The next day, I had to reply. I availed myself of the opportunity to, well, demolish the arguments of my friend and I cited the case of United States which based its constitution on that of the Swiss Confederation. That is Switzerland. I pointed out a case, I think, that of Texas versus White, where Mr. Salmon Chase, the Chief Justice laid down the principle – he was really an arbiter – that the union was intended to be perpetual and indivisible and that any attempt to divide the union by secession was treasonable. The North (NPC) supported Action Group. The question was then: Should we have secession? The Colonial Office came to our rescue. You know, the usual principle of Britain – ‘divide and rule’ (laughs) but this time, it was in our favour. So, the colonial office backed us. Lord Chandos said that on the face of the arguments before him it would be suicidal to incorporate secession in our constitution and that is why we have section 86 in our constitution that if any region or state should secede, then it will be an act of treason and that was what led to this war, because Col. Ojukwu seceded and so violated the constitution. — Excerpt: Nnamdi Azikiwe’s interview with New Nigeria in 1975.

Your fathers forced 'one Nigeria', down our fathers' throat in concert with the British, in 1954 and the consequences of your fathers' greed and love for "dominance is what the whole country is going through as a Nation, today. Your fathers, in concert with the British made it a treasonable offense, punishable by death, for any one, who makes an attempt to break away, any component part of the country, from the Nigerian Federation. The main reason we are all hooked today, as a Nation.

So see?
Awolowo the man with foresight!
