The only reason to leave a job of 400K per month should only be IF YOUR LIFE IS IN DANGER IN NIGERIA. At the age of 35 you are still willing to migrate and live your life for uncertainty. As a BLACK man and again a FOREIGNER in developed country (built by whites) If you like have PHD, PPD, BSC or whatever you call it you are still gonna have it very tough and you are still gonna prove yourself x3 for any position against the citizen and permanent resident.

At 35 with that income you should be thinking how to establish, create employment and give your family the best in life. Abroad drains energy physically and mentally from certification, to paper, to learning the culture (it takes years to adapt)

Abroad is not designed as a place to get everything easily it a place to live a simple and easy life and this takes lot of years working.

1 Create employment as how? please expatiate.
2. Give family the best life? please explain
3. If you read from the beginning you would see most people are not saying its going to be easy easy but to be in an equitable environment where fairness and hardwork will see you through

I am sorry bro, but I have to tell you this. This your sister and her family's plan is DOE. This is the reason why a lot of people end up stuck in the system here with nothing to show for iot after years and years of living in the US.

Legal residency/citizenship or even Employment Authorization, they cannot get. Home (Nigeria) they cannot go back to because of shame and the automatic ban once they step out of the US. Some even have deportation orders pending for them. How in the world do you think they will emigrate to the US on a visiting visa and get their "stay" visa? On what basis? Fraudulent marriage to an American?

They both would have to divorce each other before they can even think about getting married to an American for papers. But remember, they came here as a couple. Married. Good luck convincing USCIS that the new marriage is not a sham paper one. Even if one is lucky, who will file for the other one? Abi they will remarry each other? I am confused. You better advise them before they make a mistake they would come to regret.

They might say, no need to have papers, living in America is enough and I will have a better life. But have they thought of the fear of living in a stage of never knowing? They see a cop on the road, their heart will start beating fast hoping that the cop doesn't stop them and ask for their ID. They can never drive (except if they wanna do that without a license, which is a crime). They can't work (except for under the table employers who will treat them like crap). They can't leave the country. Their first child who came here with them can't go to college, he either has to produce an SSN which he doesn't have or apply for a student visa. They cant get health insurance. They're stuck. That's not the kind of life I wish my loved ones

Maybe we should add this points to the front page too so intending runaways grin grin grin can refer to it and make their judgement after knowing what they are againt

But really, VO tells you ho ha, 'sorry, you are not qualified at this time' and you pick your passport and leave. The worst is you ask the VO why you are not qualified. Some will tell you and some won't. Maybe kaptainAfrica should add 'sorry' next time. Looooolll.

Whoever is not ready to read from page 0 to the end to me, should not get angry because people here refuse to answer your questions.

*kizzzzzez* (in fals voice).

I like the way you analysed the issue, I said it in part 1 that some of the tone used in responses are harsh, in no particular reference to my questions, yes I totally agree that people should read from page 0, but the harsh responses? I totally disagree, there are better ways of answering questions. I have seen instances where in a rush to shoot someone down a totally wrong perspective of the scenario is given and the VO had to step in to give a true position of issues.

@KaptainAfrica I know you are trying to help, maybe you can just let people like @cumz know that its still a 50/50 chance after analyzing there issue to the best of your ability, miracle do happen to the most unqualified in our eyes as well as the most qualified (the other way round) grin grin grin

Me attitude means ONLY MY OPINION Counts or ONLY MY OPINIONS ARE FACTS.
If anyone doesn't agree with me, he is either an IDIOT or should educate Himself.
This is a very wrong attitude to be displayed by someone who called himself educated.
You should handle debate on NAIRALAND the same way you would handle academic discussions.
I don't know which school you went to, but in an academic discussion, you don't call someone an IDIOT or tell them they are IGNORANT and should educate themselves. You would get a zero mark and can even be suspended from school.
Pigrin2 doesn't understand how Child Care Benefits work in Canada. You could educate her the way FelizO1 did without been condescending. You further told Pigrin2 that "I know you're use to having a child starve to death ...". How do you even know that Pigrin2 is used to see hungry children?

On a different note, you indicate that "With welfare they'd get free housing, medical, dental, prescription drugs and tuition when they're in University".
That is untrue. I don't know where you get the concept of free housing from. People on welfare pay housing even though the amount is subsidized. In terms of medical care, what the Canadian government covers is just the basics that doesn't even include the dental care. Welfare recipients have to pay for the cost of dental care.
Also, there is no such thing as welfare recipient getting free tuition in school. Someone can't be on welfare and be a full time student at the same time. In Ontario for example, anyone on Welfare who is attending university would be automatically removed from Welfare and would be asked to apply for OSAP.

First of all they are both ladies,
secondly if you check other threads you would see that this 'supposed debate' didnt just start here
Finally am trying hard to understand what exactly it is (argument/ debate) its just difficult to categories it when you read some justification / opinion from pigding.

Good day pple,

A friend of mine applied for B1/B2 visa with the husband in 2015 thru an agent and was granted.
They travelled same year, she stayed for 3 weeks cos of her work and hubby stayed for 5 month.
Hubby travelled again alone and overstayed.
Hubby returned and applied for student visa alone but both hubby and wife where invited for interview and also interviewed separately.
The VO asked the wife if she knows why the hubby overstayed and she said that he is an adult that have his own mind.
Hubby refuse to tell the wife what he was asked at the interview.
Her hubby visa was revoked and he was banned for 5years

Now the confusion:
The wife wants to renew her expired visa alone and she is scared if her hubby's issue will affect her renewal.

She does not know all the information on the form cos she was not be person that filled the form like mother's and father's date of birth.

Please house, what do u advise she should do?

Why is there plenty issue with this marriage na?

I don't believe your story of been at the US embassy to renew your visa because visa renewal is usually done by Dropbox i.e through courier service except you have not travelled for 1 year since the expiration of your last visa. But for someone who has gone in and out of a America 14 times, again, it's had to believe you will not have a valid visa at any point in time. If for whatever reason you had been given the usual two years B1&B2 visa once or twice, does it mean you travelled the 14 times you claimed once every 3 months or at 6 weeks intervals as the case may be?
What they realized people like you do is to enter and work illegally for 5 months and 3 weeks, return to Nigeria for 2 weeks and go back again just to beat the immigration rule of not staying more than 6 months at a stretch. Thank God you said the new executive order has Nigerians like you on their watchlist too.
So take heart bro, America don wake up to our backyard game.
Please take time to read again she clarified that she is an Air hostess with QA and gave other explanations

@Anitank I have a few theory here people have been questioned unnecessarily for coming t the USA via QA I guess the border agents dont know the difference between but just generally raise red flags when they see anything that has to do with the middle east.

As regards your case, I am thinking the VO assessed your application based on the new visa class you applied for without having a recourse to your travel history (which is wierd). There are several things that might have been considered because you are applying for a new visa class

Even America was in recession a few years ago yet they bounced back so why do I get the feeling that you think we will never come out of this? So to you being in recession at the moment is now a valid reason to make a long-term decision like relocating forever the best way forward

I think you are missing the point about recession, Nigeria has been in recession since the time of Babangida, everyone just recently lashed onto the word now, before now you must have been hearing people say ''You know the situation of the economy'' or ''you know the economy is hard'' when they want to give you excuse for not spending money, its the recession that never left us they were referring to. I am waiting patiently to see how the price of EWEDU that went up as a result of ''Recession'' will come down once it is over

But when you uproot yourself from a business environment you know so well, and attempt to plant yourself in a new environment, especially one that is structured and controlled, the task of success is even more challenging. But I welcomed the brunt, the fire, the baptism of starting all over again…and boy, did I suffer the pain of starting a business in the land of 'white spirits’. No old school boy networks, no existing client base, and no clear understanding of the operational mechanics of the given geographical space. One had to go back to school. One had to work on the side. One had to support his growing family.
From being Kese Jabari, a celebrity and renowned designer and label, one became just another African struggling to secure the mirage that is packaged as the American dream, in a land branded as the land of 'milk and honey'. There were moments of doubt... but the good Lord was faithful again. He blessed us, more than ever before, 'with our cup running over'.

I have been privileged to be in 3 western countries and I tell you, except you have a job offer already waiting for you, when you relocate abroad you WILL start from the beginning. 400k per month translates to 4.8million naira per annum. No matter how expensive things have become in Nigeria with a prudent lifestyle you can save good of that money and build yourself, you can open a good business, buy land, become a landlord. All those quoting that the money is just 800$ I just laugh. Living abroad is expensive! Forget stories of people making it in 8 months. If true out of say 500 Nigerians abroad how many have been able to finish all certification exams, pass and get good paying white collar jobs? Even at that when your pay cheque is handed to you after all tax deduction how much do you pay for housing, bills etc? Tell us the truth when you live abroad can you truly save much? All the houses and cars abroad people pose with on social media its all got on credit.
If you cannot manage with 400k and save and make something good out of your life you can never succeed any where else in the world. Its not easy anywhere, that I am sure.
If you earn little then you can come abroad. A very close friend of mine lived in Lekki, drove only brand new cars. With the wau she lived we can conclude that she was a 'big girl', she sold everything and now lives abroad. She does menial jobs now. And lives in a tiny room. The rent she pays per month abroad is equivalent to what she was paying for in Lekki. That is how expensive it is to live abroad. And yes she regrets her decision even with the light, water and all the amenities available. I see so many people take this big step without calculating the risks. Its not greener on the other side.
for your first comment you need to break it down, in today's economy how that should be achieved, the blanket statement there does not really explain much

For your second statement that is not also true because I earn that much and it has gotten extremely difficult to manage that sum now.

For your last statement, my uncle told me a story of one of the south western big boys whom they did sent forth for in Dallas when he wanted to come back to Nigeria for good, it was a big party, few years down the line, he has moved ahead to settle in Canada, what is the moral of this story? bros dont generalise

Like I've been saying throughout this thread there are actually good and valid reasons to want to remain in Nigeria but those reasons fall outside the realm of personal financial/economic prosperity. In fact, if it were based on just those factors then remaining in Nigeria is not the wisest of choices especially if one has the chance now to relocate.

You are not doing your side of the debate any good with the points you are raising as those are even compelling reasons why anyone with the means should leave immediately. Most, if not all, of the responsibilities that the middle class in Nigeria currently bear, have long since been borne by the state in first world nations like Canada. As a result, the middle class there is free to channel its resources, time and effort to professional/personal development and wealth creation.

The middle class in 9ja do not have this luxury; they are still digging their own boreholes, patching their own roads, buying generators to supply their own electricity etc. The quality of education in public schools is now way below the desired level required for life in the 21st century, it was not like this when the current crop of leaders attended them back in the day.

God will bless you abundantly for this my brother, because we were born into this life style in Nigeria, we do not even appreciate the fact if we dont worry about certain things, it will improve our productivity. Secondly as horrible as even the USA is painted today, I still got there 2 years ago and saw in a starbucks shop I saw 2 fliers on the counter, one was advertising vacancy the other one was advertising the benefit of sponsoring all employees either full time or part time through there University education (although its in a particular school) for free I have never seen that in any employment in Nigeria I still leave in Nigeria till today

Alternative medicine here is an option which people use (just like in China and India) our grand parents lived very long too. As for Western medicine, some states do give free basic health care to pregnant women and children under 5. Most government and state hospitals are heavily subsidized

Nigeria is not hell, contrary to what you might think so someone earning N400K a month can expand his wealth greatly in an almost tax free
country.

I totally disagree, with this with 400k you would still be paying for most things out of pocket secondly even doctors here go abroad when they have certain medical issues please this is like comparing oranges and apple, based on the few things highlighted here, OP I strongly advice you to go to Canada but please do your home work

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding the recent Executive Order on immigration signed by President Trump. The only change that affects our Nigerian visa applicants at this time is that Dropbox renewal is only available to applicants who previously held a visa in the same category that expired less than 12 months prior to the new application.

Thanks for the clarification VO left to some Nigerians, they are ready to smuggle the country's name in to the banned list through the back door, so as to have something to talk about.
